One of the typical very low quality HK tea house cafe where you would not expect anything to be good.

Simply impeccable. One of my favorites since years already. Hong Kong cafe classics like HK French toast or coffee milk tea, as delicious and authentic as it gets. Genuine old school atmosphere, relaxed and comfortable. Superb.

Hong Kong style milk tea is known to be a classic morning wake up beverage. This spot is definitely on my checklist.

Great food and had a vegetarian section in the menu. Very reasonably priced. Food came out quickly.

Authentic HK cha chaan tang
Boss House is just another cha chaan teng with average food and average service.
Visited Boss House on weekends morning, and it's not full and no waiting at all. Ordered they set breakfast and it was ready in a flash.
The food tastes just average, but acceptable. There are not many restaurants open in the early morning during the weekend, at least here will be open most of the time

Very interesting and good drinks! And their bun was amazing - given the condense milk is predictable but it the bun that is the star! The locals order quite a lot of the MDRT sandwich. Looks good and I will try given a chance in the future.

4 = great, could go back / recommendable

We got french toast, macaroni soup with satay beef, and HK style milk tea. All were very good.

Good diner vibe. Would recommend this first for a classic Hong Kong cha chaan teng experience.

It's like any other cha chaan teng, nothing to special though imo. We had our usual club sandwich, and the truffled egg sandwich, but I thought it was good, not fantastic or anything to write home about.

Ordered afternoon tea set of French toast with peanut butter (西多士) and hot milk tea. The toast was fried just right and the milk tea was rich.
Staff was quite friendly and they had many nostalgic movie posters on the wall.

Ordered the scrambled egg with toast, charsiu with macaroni in soup set. Scrambled egg was fluffy but not runny and nicely cooked, toast was served with generous amount of butter. The charsiu made the soup a bit sweeter than usual, and the soup is also quite flavourful without too much saltiness. Milk tea was smooth and milky, although the iced one was a bit sweet.

They have quite a lot of seats with quirky poster decor. Service was quite fast. Price was alright. Good to visit if you're around the area.

Great breakfast sets with choices. And they have a very cute and friendly dog to make your day.
Authentic Hong Kong-style Cha Chaan Teng

This restaurant offers a quick and tasty lunch option for busy office workers. With prices starting at $46, the dishes are served promptly. Try their flavorful iced milk tea and satay beef noodles, which are satisfying and generously portioned. The noodles have the perfect texture, but the scrambled eggs and sausages are average. However, cleanliness is an issue, with litter and used tissues on the floor. Consider getting takeout to enjoy their delicious fare in a cleaner environment. Overall, it's a good choice for a quick meal, but hygiene needs improvement.
pork chop rice with tomato sauce is delicious! i enjoyed my dinner so much, easily one of my best meal in hongkong. i heard that the egg tart is also good. the servers speak mostly cantonese but we were trying to be helpful. thank you!
everything you would expect for a local hk Cafe. food is decent, decor has some interesting things like traditional metal gate features. not the best but meets your expectations for the price.

excellent egg tarts. would recommend just picking up a quick takeaway egg tart if you're in the area (e.g. on your way back from kam's roast) instead of eating in.

went once at around 4.30 and they were sold out, so come during the daytime.

service is kinda awful, one of the waiters wasn’t helpful when I requested for chopstick to eat my instant noodles and I could tell he was frustrated.

Scrambled egg was very good! But if there’s an option for the same dish without truffle, go for that instead since there isn’t much truffle taste and it’s very expensive because of the truffle at 53hkd. I loved their iced milk tea (25hkd) too which wasn’t too sweet or milky to me. I went at almost 4pm so the place was pretty empty. Service was alright too.

An old school style cha chang teng.
I think it’s a nice location and nostalgic place for breakfast. They open 5am in the morning.

Definitely can visit and experience but don’t expect cheap or good value. Quality of food is just average.

Not that crowded with people when I visited around 8am. Pineapple bun was good but egg tart was not that good, but egg tart was less sweet than other tarts.

Noticed it offered a promotion breakfast.

It had fried egg, toast, ketchup soy bean, fried fish, sweet corn and a cup of coffee.

The food was ok to start a day. Great value for money.

The staff was quite nice and helpful.

Nicest egg tarts we had in hong kong. Jellish soft eggy center isnt too sweet, tasted just nice and the crust is tart based and cripsy. Best of all it is freshly made and piping hot! Waiter was nice enough to tell us sit 4 seater as its more comfortable.

The food is pretty standard CCT affair, decent and standard. As far as I can tell, only locals really come to eat here while most tourist will likely go to big name places.

What really sets things apart is how nice the uncle that was serving helped me. I went in not knowing they had breakfast a set and ordered different parts of it separately. But the nice uncle helped me out by telling me that I can have all of the same things in the set menu and it would save me from the cost of getting things individually!

It's these little small things that matter a lot when going out to eat.

Pineapple bun is well heated, bun is soft and crust is crispy. They are famous for their egg tarts but didn’t like the crust, the egg custard part was good though. Milk tea is normal char chan teng standard.

A very down to earth local local historical Cha Chan Ting serving noodles, toast, local milk tea. It is a good place to taste the history. Food quality is just very average and definitely a place for experience than food. Seating is spacious and service is quick. Looking for a fast meal and this can be an option.

Fast service. They make a good pineapple bun with sliced butter, egg tarts, Hong Kong milk tea and ‘coffee with tea’. The egg tart is on the custard-ie side rather than tasting egg-ie like some people like them. Prices are reasonable. They’re conveniently located near the A4 exit of Wan Chai station.

Having difficulties understanding the set menu (in Cantonese) but the cafe owner was very kind to explain. Ended up ordering the french toast which is the best we’ve ever had in Hong Kong. Definitely will return to try other dishes at this legendary cafe.

First ever visit and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The iced Yuen yang was how it should be concocted. The egg in the corn beef toasted sandwich deserved a special mention. It was so fluffy & tasty that it really is a class act. Sure will come back & try other items on the menu.

Pork cutlet curry for tea today. The cutlet is very ordinary. Neighbourhood fast food joint’s kind of quality. Slightly disappointed.

November 2023 update

Came for early diner and picked 粟米肉粒飯+XO醬西芹鷄球飯off the menu on the wall.

Apr 23: location is good. Food come fast. Responsive waiters. However, place is not clean and tidy. There is smelly (toilet smell) when first walk into the restaurant.

We ordered Tea sets, egg tarts, Bakkutteh etc. the tea set with bread, the bread is soft and thick. The drinks are mediocre. Tea taste is weak. Egg tart is good. I loves 泰昌 egg tarts more. And I love cookies egg tart more than puff pastry egg tart. The cake is a bit sweet than expected. Noodles is small portions. I always eat less, but I need to order one more egg tart.

After Lunch, we go to Hong Kong Exhibition Center on foot.

A long-standing Hong Kong-style cha chan teng or cafe offering sandwiches, toast, noodles local and snacks. An easy venue for some iconic local food & drinks at a reasonable price. It was about HkD49 per person. Service was basic, and staff was mostly friendly and accommodating. The interior and utensils were a bit old.

Biumui Restaurant is a local style restaurant in Wan Chai, price is reasonable and potion is huge.
The restaurant located in the alley of Gresson St, it's not easy to notice.
Came here for breakfast on weekday and it's nearly full. You need to scan their QR code for the ordering.
Food quality is good, and price is reasonable, but the hygiene can be improved.

Nice place. Quick and reasonable price. Octopus card is accepted. They offer English menu (probably not for the lunch set though, you need to read Chinese out from the board or begging the waitress to translate). I had satay instant noodle, which was good. Omelette was standard. Loved their Danish toast though! During lunch hour, there is always a long queue. It’s one of the most affordable places in the neighbourhood, so lots of office people are here during lunch hours. Nothing extraordinary.

The place I wanted to go to was packed so randomly came here because I have not tried it.

You can choose 2 dish combinations or you can choose set meals.

The seating is cramped so you normally have to share tables with others.

Sweet and sour fish:

The sauce obviously had a lot of colouring in it but it was not really sweet nor sour so it failed as sweet and sour sauce.

The fish was crispy, soft in the centre and not too salty.

Overall, it was ok, nothing spectacular about it.

Service is friendly, which is hard to find in aevrage restaurant. Just ordered their french toast with j and butter. The sweetness of the jam is just nice. Portuguese coffee and milk tea taste acceptable.
