My kid really enjoyed spending the afternoon painting with Ruby. The environment is calm and welcoming. My daughter commented that the instructions were easy to follow.

It was my first sip and paint class on this visit to New York and I simply loved the vibe in the class. The teacher was patient with beginners and made sure to reach out to every person individually in case they had questions. They give you everything from canvas to paints and apron. There was red and white wine for everyone to enjoy! I would absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking for a fun thing to do with friends or even just as solo activity. I was very happy with how my painting turned out.

We had so much fun! I got it as a Christmas present for my sister and myself. I am so pleased with my winter chickadee painting. D was also so helpful and so encouraging. The music was amazing. It was classic oldies but goodies. Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Diana Ross and The Supremes, etc. 10/10 definitely recommend. Make sure you go with a group of friends or at least another friend with you.

The experience was surreal. My wife took me here during my birthday and we both had a blast. It was our first time painting together and the instructor was calm and explained everything nicely. We went for “central park in fall” theme and did a 2 pieces of painting in to form a single canvas painting. Will definitely recommend my friends and go over again sometime.

I had such a fun evening here! Laura is hilarious and was an incredible host and teacher. My painting even turned out all right (maybe it was the wine!). I highly recommend The Paint Place and will definitely be back!

I recently took my mom and my younger sister to this gallery for my sister’s birthday because she wanted to do something fun and different in the city. This gallery is beautiful and has very interesting pieces on display. When we got here, the front desk associate ran to close the downstairs area. I watched her do this and I have pictures of her doing this. If you zoom in, she’s behind the sculpture, blocking the downstairs area with the black rope. She later told us that we weren’t allowed upstairs or downstairs. I didn’t argue with her because I didn’t want to cause a scene or alarm my mother and sister but I felt like she was discriminating against us as Black women.

I'm giving this particular location one star. Not because of the beautiful pieces of art that adorned the space, but to the young lady who on duty or whatever her title was in October 9th, 2023, who's discriminatory and subtle racist actions did not go unnoticed. Upon, entering this public establishment, my daughters and I were immediately profiled followed and certain areas of the gallery were suddenly "roped off". If I might enlightened her, black people like art as well. What we don't like is racial profiling and discrimination. Hopefully, you'll learn respect and kindness for the next black person who enjoys art.

Took my daughter for a painting session because it was her 12th birthday. I was pretty nervous, because I wasn't sure if she would enjoy it, she is more on the introverted side ..lol..and she don't like doing things in crowds like I do..lol...I didn't know what to expect because this was my first time going to this particular location. However I took her and I have to say she ENJOYED every second of it, she even asked for for us to go back. I agreed with her on that one. The painting instructor was awesomely welcoming and very detailed and clear on how to do the painting..no rushing but timely painting, she assisted frequently with whatever questions you asked, and she took her time to come around to see how your doing and if you needed advice or help on your painting progress, she is more than happy to assist..The atmosphere was calming and smoothing..not a large large place, but a great enough size with enough room to maneuver to take photos of your work. I would diffinately recommend this place to anyone trying to just learn new things like arts.. especially if your shy or don't like to be in crowded area...this place is pretty much a nice small group sessions...it was like 8 to 9 of us when we went, just to give an idea of how small the group may be at times...I loved it and I can't wait to take my 8yr son as well...He was unable to go to this session, because this session was for 12ys and up ....which worked perfectly because we had some mother-daughter-time🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

We had a great time. Instructor had great energy and was so helpful. None of us had ever painted before and we took home beautiful paintings.
new management awful and do not help the struggling artists as they should only help residents that contribute financially not artistically

Absolute Quality!! What an experience. Beautiful original NY theater in a remarkable building with history on the upper floors. Have seen the current play called 9/10. Very well done and impressive work. The play was about the night before 9/11 with their unique stories unfolding not knowing what would happen the next day. The performance space is truly immersive with actors very close right in front of the audience. It's been a pleasure to visit. Highly recommended.
amazing expirience, loved the art on display and couldn't leave without buying a piece for myself. Can only recommend to go there. Staff is very helpful and the location is easily accessible.
Came by and visited numerous exhibitions now, always friendly and helpful staff and the art on display is spectacular. Can only recommend to go there
Great gallery with wonderful nft pictures! really loved the place and i can only recommend visiting!

Rebecca is a very unique and unbelievable teacher and truly inspires creative learning and development. She has made me an artist and now my home is fill with my art.
Closed at displayed opening hours!? Disappointing!!!

Thx for your fast reply, but you changed the opening hours after my comment. I’ve certainly looked up the opening hours. It was a long way for me to get there - that was disappointing.

Nice for a quick walk thru at least, although their location opened up in the Wynn Las Vegas I saw more pieces I liked up
A very nice place for artists and art lovers. The entire community of people in the building are very warm and welcoming. It’s a beautiful building with a courtyard and rooftop with an art gallery in the lobby and dance studio on the top floor. I was fortunate for the opportunity to watch the 4th July fireworks from its terrace.

Wonderful venue with programming that absolutely stuns. I would feel confident recommending anything being staged here whether I’ve seen it already or not, it’s just that good. X
Extremely for profit white corporate gallery. Gentrifiers, who have no respect for local, bipoc artists nor the Loisaida neighborhood in which they are occupying. Their attitude is as elitist and vain as their empty digital frames.
This is regarding the senior tax help place. The guy very firmly told me he couldn't help me with the taxes I had done but I had to do it their way. Fill out the forms, go step by step. Stuff I had already taken 8 hours finishing. Someone was gone that day and I left after waiting an hour.

One of my team members brought The Art Studio NY to us for a team building event. I wanted to find a creative outlet for our team because we deal with numbers all day long. Kristen and Melisse were instrumental in finding a zen like experience for my team, and allow them creative expression with their water colouring class. Melisse was a fantastic instructor, and kept things moving at a manageable pace, and I learned a lot about how to watercolour - I thought it was simply water to paper! There's more to it than meets the eye, but it was such a positive experience.

The team was really engaged through, and the cost was more than reasonable. Happy to recommend The Art Studio NY to the broader team to enjoy their classes.
Gorgeous, airy gallery on Clinton St. with a patio in the back. The inaugural exhibition "Recollection: AI and Memory" is beautifully curated (runs thru May 13 '23).
Welcome to New York, NFT Gallery!
The space is huge and beautiful! I’ll definitely recommend to visit this gallery!
Tony Greco pushes you to the furthest corners to unlock the great music that hides there. It's been amazing to see actors change right in front of you... if only the guy changed his underwear because the room smells like a day-old braciole. Five stars.

Great instructor and a fun class. It’s painting class for beginners. Great for date nights. You don’t need to be an expert to join the class. We’ve been here a few times and right before we go to the class, we buy wine from Trader Joe’s.

This is my favorite theatre in NYC. The programming is adventurous and what NYC theatre should be all about. At the intersection of moving and avant garde. Nothing but love for those sacred place
I have taken several online classes over the last 2 years and learned a great deal about drawing and painting techniques. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient. They know how to help students tap into their artistic spirit. Every class I take pushes me out of my comfort zone and inspires me to try new things. I am hooked on the Art Studio NY!

The art exhibition inside was interesting but rather limited. There is a Pizza Yard stand on the ground floor next to the house.
***Update: The studio did end up responding to our email a week later and profusely apologized. They provided our son with a few private lessons to make up for the class scheduling snafoo. Thank you for your attention and support for this concern.

******
We registered our 8-year-old son for two of the Art Studio NY's art camps: Beginner Architecture and Beginner Weekly Comics and Cartooning Drawing. Both are online as we do not live in NY.

The Architecture class has been fine: instructor was great and supportive! This review is specifically for the Beginner Weekly Comics and Cartooning class, and overall responsiveness to our concerns by the company.

The first class, the instructor arrived very late with about 15 minutes left in class. Last week's class, the instructor never opened up the Zoom meeting so my son sat in front of the computer just waiting in case the instructor came at the last 15 minutes again. We emailed Art Studio NY and only received a generic email back saying they will respond to us soon. Today, a week has passed and I have yet to receive an email from them.

Additionally, today, our son was to do the Comics and Cartoons class again at 4pm, but it is 4:30pm and we are still waiting "for the host to start this meeting". I have called Art Studio NY and left a message, as it immediately went to voicemail, and am feeling quite disheartened by the attention given to our concerns.

Now, I have to tell my 8-year-old son that class is not happening, again. I hope now we are able to get some level of a refund back for the payment we sent over for a class my son was never able to attend because the instructor never came on and we never received any communication around their absence and if there is a possibility for a make-up session.

Thank you for your attention and I do hope someone from the Art Studio NY reads this review and finally return our email/phone call.

I took a virtual class with Rebecca through a work event. She is such a great teacher, moving the class along at a manageable pace while keeping things engaging, educational, and fun. I was shocked at what I was able to draw and how easy it was following her instruction. Highly recommend and would do again!
Nice performance venue. Saw Taylor Mac’s The Hang Here. Comfortable with a small bar and seating area.

I've done several of these classes as fun activities at work and they are great. I love the "Fear free drawing" classes because I literally only need a pencil and paper to get started. I've never really drawn anything before starting these classes and it's fun to see what I can do with a little instruction.
I was here and saw an English adaptation of a play by Calderon dela Barca (Life Is A Dream), the whole place is old and with plenty of interesting details and character particularly by the entrance. It was my first time here and I can only wish this place will survive very well amidst the onslaught of the ever strong presence of the buildings belonging to the NYU campus. It will give the neighborhood more character, rather than the typical boring predictable pattern you see in the area.

Amazing art gallery. Lots of new age artwork. Pop-art style, live music and a very good atmosphere. If you stroll through the streets of Soho, it is a mandatory stop to see some art and take a break from the bustling city. When I was there I had parked the car back to the future!

I’ve been going Manhattan Art since my sophomore year of high school and let me say this, going through this program was 100% worth it. At the end of the day all the staff truly cares about you and your future as an artist. They really help you refine your skill and learn many new techniques. I got into all my schools (including all my reach schools) due to my portfolio that I made at Manhattan Art. All my love and support goes out to the staff the people who founded Manhattan Art.
I *never* miss the flea market basement sale. Take a rare tour of the residences when they offer them. What an incredible building filled with such a special community.

The portfolio classes at Manhattan Art are absolutely amazing. All of the staff here help develop all foundational skills needed to excel in the art world. After taking classes for about a year to build my portfolio, I got into my top school with a full scholarship. I highly recommend Manhattan Art if you are serious about art!
Under renovation now, interesting space though. A theater, a school, a courtyard. There are several plaques explaining this was originally occupied by Bell Labs.
Small, intimate space with comfy chairs, but seems to have been put together by actors rather than craftspeople. Saw some terrific theater here by the shelter, but was less than impressed by the space.

This place is AMAZING! My daughter, who is 4 year old, went to the Art studio NY for a camp and she LOVED it! The teachers and the staff were super nice and she came back with a stunning painting! I adore that this place nurtures the creativity of little (and big) ones and let them explore their imagination in a structured way! We cannot wait to go back!!!
Open for visiting only for special events, like New York day
I've been to a couple of shows here in the past month and I have to say they were unique experiences. The theater conserves an old-style New York atmosphere and welcomes everybody into their intimate space as one of their own. The shows were flowing with fresh creative energy from well-known Downtown theater actors and were discussing issues and obstacles that people face in the world nowadays through an authentic filter. Your experience here is guaranteed to be a pleasant and artistically enriching one.

I read all of the reviews and I still decided to go to Tony Greco's class. What was I thinking? This class is a total cult. Everyone hangs on his every word no matter how boring and stupid it is. No one pays any attention to the new people. I guess we have to become part of the Tony Greco cult first. There's never any chance to do a full scene for him because there's too many people or he talks and talks so much that only one scene can go up in a three hour session. Or maybe he will only let one actor say a few lines and then he will stop the scene. Yassss, he's also a jerk who yells and insults the majority of the class. From what people tell me, he doesn't do anything more than beginning work ever. There's never a chance to grow beyond his little bitty first steps. Forget this dude.
Great space Theater small and intimate. Not for everyone but then stay home and watch TV. Also what do you mean read the other reviews GRIP You wrote all of them ( Bernie Schwartz GC Watch. All the same person) Named Ben I think. Kinda all the same. But any I studied and have done a play at the Frankel and think it is a great stage and House.
This is a wonderful resident place to visit, the tenants are wonderful. They're mostly artist who have a great mind for creativity, there's always some kind of play going on. They do a lot for the community around them. The building is also a historical landmark so why not visit. They also have a dance school, come by and visit you won't be disappoint it in fact you'll leave the place with a smile on your face.......
Very interesting building with a great mission and history.

I have learned so much when i was putting together my portfolio at Manhattan Art. Got into all schools I applied with scholarships. Great Teachers!
We recently had our wedding there and it was astounding. The photos are in and proved to us it was such a magical place to be in. A black box theater true to form, and supportive of many talented and local artists, so we're proud to add our wedding to its roster.

They were very hospitable and encouraging and it was a blast working with this wild artsy crew. The arts is still alive in Manhattan!

It's great to see this kind of place still exist in NoHo! I hope it continues to thrive with many more brilliant performances to come.

Thank you, Gene Frankel! It was an honor.
