This was an enjoyable experience. The service was smooth with a personal touch. The food was excellent, we had a vegetarian rice table, which was diverse and tasteful. Did not take long at all. The general atmosphere was really interesting, a bit like being welcomed into a different culture. Very reasonably priced.
Incredible meal! Very busy and a lil chaotic service but staff were kind and welcoming. Every meal was fantastic. The flavors, freshness, spice. So sad that I can’t find a restaurant like this in Germany. Def recommend!!
The server was the most polite and knowledgeable about the food being server. He came across friendly, pleasant and was certainly was passionate about the food.

Food was absolutely delicious. We had no idea what to order and took a chance on a few things and were not disappointed at all. Service was fun and very friendly. The atmosphere was great with a lot of energy and people enjoying some good food.
The food was very good. I ordered the vegetarian specialty plate, and my wife ordered a chicken curry plate. I like spicy food and the vegetarian plate had a good spice, not too hot that my wife couldn't try it but enough that you could feel it build up. I also like how my plate included both noodles and the rice so I can see how they both were. Chicken curry dish let you pick one, and she was glad she picked the noodles. Chicken curry was also well seasoned. I would definitely come back.
I think it was an affordable option for the quantity but the taste is completely gone. The entire order doesn't taste good and has nothing to do with chinese food. This is how my noodles look like and there is another plate with chicken but the noodles are literally just boiled and there are no more ingredients inside. There is no vegetables etc There is also no seasoning and the other dish has zero taste. Sadly a huge disappointment
Outstanding. I had seen them earlier but I had been wanting Chinese for my last meal in Europe. The Chinese were apparently too busy so I left and walked by here. What a pleasant surprise. The chicken satay was delicious as was the lamb curry with fried rice. Much better than what I expected. The service efficient and the atmosphere with music was excellent. Fully recommend.
This was our first ever Indonesian meal and it was extraordinary. We ordered the Rice Table sharing menu. My wife is vegetarian and was given her own, separate Rice Table so that she could enjoy a vegetarian version of every dish, with either eggplant or tofu substituted for the meat. The kids and I shared a Rice Table with five different meat dishes, a cold noodle salad and more. Loved the Indonesian beer as well. Great service. Highly recommended.
The food i got was not great, but it was not bad either. Restaurant owner was nice but i got caught off guard by the 3 euro a glass for tap water
This was my first time having surinamese food, and it won't be the last one for sure. The food was great : massive portions as well. Service amazing,.the very kind waiter took his time to explain everything once I told him.it was my first time having surinamese. Food is tasty and with a wide choice of plates. Nicely spicy with sauces to company your meal.
I'd been looking for a nice, affordable place to have a dinner and cannot be more delighted. Food is delicious and portions are generous. Also short waiting time after making an order. Other customers had been recommending all the specials, so on the photos You can see Pitjel (as appetizer) and Spang Makandra Special. To be honest those two things made enough of food for 2 people's meal ;)

The owner was super friendly and provided us with excellent recommendations. The mixed meat thin fried noodles were amazing and the chicken satay had so much flavour.
I highly recommend getting the surinamese syrup or ginger drink. I will definitely be coming back when I am in Amsterdam.

Excellent food, cooked with passion. The Christmas menu was delicious, every piece of it!
Staff at our hotel recommend this place so thought we’d try our first experience of Indonesian food.
Seated straight without a reservation and our coats taken and hung up.
We shared the lamb in coconut sauce main (more than enough for two!) which was delicious, fried chicken snacks (amazing!) and rice.
Food was delicious and was kept warm at the table.
Unfortunately the house wine was not so good!!
Overall would recommend trying this place!

This has got to be one of the best meals I have ever had! Such tasty, spicy goodness that reached deep into my soul! The 3 course rice table was definitely worth the wait. You are definitely missing out if you pass this place by! Will be a fan of Indonesian food from now on!
Had a fantastic experience here. We opted for the Gang Rijsttafel with a bottle of wine (which was great btw), and it was a delightful experience. The food was delicious, and the portion size was satisfying. While it's a bit pricey, trying Indonesian cuisine for the first time, made it all worth it.
The only improvement could be clearer explanations of the food options by the staff, which could have helped us understand the different menu items. We had a lovely time and I would say its definitely worth a visit. :)

Delicious Indonesian with great menu options and flavours. The Pandan crepe dessert wasn't bad but not great. The dough was a bit hard (but maybe normal) and it was a bit small.
Its 20:39. Wanted to order extra for take away. They simply said “cannot order, its too busy, if you want need to wait long hours”. But the restaurant closed at 22.00 but you stop serving already?
Food is ok and value for money. Service is slow, absolutely no empathy, just some untrained kids trying to get by.
Indonesian plate was great. Meatball starter was the best. Service was okay.
To be fair, the food was pretty good, and the hostess lady is nice at first, but we were very turned off by the 3 euro PER small GLASS of probably tap water, followed by a random 1 euro on the final bill just for the heck of it. This was for in restaurant dining. The audacity to charge a total of 9 euro for a few gulps of water is…astounding. Just for that it is a total rip off, smells like greed, and left a bad taste in our mouth. Unfortunately will not be returning.
This place has everything you need away from the busy amsterdam. Run bily a terrific sweet Chinese lady. She welcomes you with a warm heart and makes you feel at home with some chat and banter. The food aswell was very fresh, good and traditional! I would definitely would come again. Amazing for couples and friends who wamt a intimate setting!
It's so sad to see this restaurant becoming mediocre because of the untrained staff. I came twice this week and both time the waitress was extremely slow, took our order wrong and took 40 minutes to provide 4 sandwiches. I always take the same sandwich and had to correct her because she was doing it wrong, in the end my sandwich was still not what I ordered. Instead of doing the 4 sandwich all together she takes 10 minutes to do one and then proceed to the next one while watching the line of client gets bigger and doesn't speed up. It's really upsetting, why is she alone in the restaurant if she's untrained? Management should do something to help their waiters. Safe to say I won't be coming anytime soon.

I came on Friday after lunch time for 4 sandwiches and on Sunday again for sandwiches but no bread were left (which happens too often) so we could only take bowls.

I’d give lower than the 1 star but sadly I can’t. Got served a loempia which was harder than the ice that sank titanic. It was hot on the outside and frozen on the inside. Secondly they promote their “broodjes” but never ever have any. Prices went up for mediocre food, they need to stop hiring Dutch kids that aren’t ready for the kitchen because the staff just looks confused behind the kitchen and it takes them 30 minutes to have one meal ready. But yeah “Welkom in Ijburg”.
Great takeaway place with great price to quality. Had satay chicken sandwich, lumpia and gado gado, and all were tasty and fairly priced. Staff was nice and helpful, but could have been a little quicker.
We had the chef’s rice table. We were able to taste almost everything on the menu in small portions. It was the perfect amount to leave the restaurant full and satisfied. The food was great! Everything was tasty and cooked really well. The servers were all kind and friendly. And I have to say the most sincere and excellent service that I’ve had in a while. Our overall experience was AMAZING! I would definitely recommend to everyone who wants to try Indonesian cuisine.
There was only 1 waiter for about 9 tables, which means we had to wait an enormous amount of time before we got our food. It was 1 hour between us arriving and us getting our food. It is possible that our order had been forgotten, since people who had arrived at the same time as us, managed to get their food and completely finish their meal, before we even got ours. We only got our food after I went downstairs to complain that it was taking too long. Would definitely not recommend.
We arrived 2 hours before closing and where told that we can't sit on a table anymore. So we took the food to go. Sadly our food was cold after 3 minutes of walking so i believe that it was not heated properly before or set on the counter for too long very sad.

While ago I bought a takeaway pokebowl which was very nice, but only thing that really made me worried is that staffs prepared this without wearing a mask, even chatting over my bowl...it was not very pleasant to see. I am aware that this period is difficult for food chains but would be nice if we all care a little more to each other.
Very bad air, maybe no ventilation while cooking and deep frying. Menu implies that this is indonesian, but the asian cook/waitress can't speak Bahasa but is nice. Soto Ayam was a big disappointment. Also expensive. And definitely not indonesian. Some interesting drinks and sambal is available. But better go somewhere else to eat.
Having ordered from them several times, I can only say that they’re pretty sloppy. The food arrives half cold. Another time they provided a cheesecake that was clearly old and so rubbery that it was more useful as a tennis ball. The food is ok, but I don’t see why I should have to reheat a meal that supposed to be delivered warm. Definitely won’t order from them again.

Big portions of tasty home cooked Indonesian food. Quite spicy but we loved it.

I came here in the 90's, moved away and now I'm back and the place is still excellent. Good value for money. Next to the standard Chinese take away menu they have a few dishes that are a bit special and set them apart.

The worst part? I was charged EUR 2 for tap water, and an extra EUR 1 for unknown reason. EUR 2 for tap water was bad enough (the ONLY restaurant in Amsterdam that charged me for tap water, out of more than 15 different restaurants) but that extra EUR 1 for no reason is beyond inexplicable.
The place lost my trust... food wasn't that good anyways, so, I shall NOT return.
