This place is a dream!
It’s close to my house so I tend to come here more often than other parks and it’s an oasis of peace.
It’s very large so you can access it from different parts and walk in all directions. It’s extremely clean and well maintained, the trash cans are always empty and the lawns super lush!
It’s an open park, so I wouldn’t be surprised if people slept there at night, but there’s no sign of it.
Also, because of the open park factor I wouldn’t recommend walking there late at night (but I’m a woman so perhaps hyper aware of safety risks).
Dogs are running around everywhere but generally owners are respectful and clean up after them as well as call them back if they see someone uncomfortable.

Beautiful! Great for long walks. There’s a gorgeous rose garden you can visit with at least 6 different kinds of roses. There’s also a pond with a cool statue, fountains and a glass palace. Unfortunately we could not enter it because it was closed but we managed to make a couple of beautiful pictures because the environment is just really colourful and nice. There’s also a part where a lot of peacocks live. If you’re lucky you get to see the feathers. We spend about two hours in this park.

The only thing that I really did not appreciate were the toilets. The park has a couple of public toilets, but they are missing toilet paper, soap and some of them even were missing the seats. If this wasn’t the case, the review would be 5*.

Beautiful place! Wear comfy shoes, as rocks can get in your sandals. There is plenty to see and plenty places to sit. highly recommend doing a picnic. Also, the glass house was under renovation, so double check that its open if you want to see that.

I visited Madrid in August of this year (2023) and this was the perfect park to visit in the city centre. There are several tourist attractions, seating areas, ponds and food stands in this park. You can even go kayaking in the main pond. The ponds have several animals in them such as ducks, geese, carp and even turtles. The wooded areas have loads of birds including parakeets, nuthatches, magpies, starlings, blackbirds and loads more! It is an amazing location for those who like nature, birdwatching or walks. I would highly recommend.

Peaceful walk around this lovely park. Interesting follies to look at while strolling the different pathways. There are lots of staff keeping the park litter free and tidy. In the middle there is a lake where you can hire rowing boats for 45 minutes, or purchase a coffee from one of the many vendors and watch the day go by.

It is a very lovely park, it’s free and doesn’t cost anything, check the local times for when it opens and closes, it has a lovely little pond and a very nice statue in a water fountain, the garden is very well maintained and has lots of lovely flowers. Definitely worth checking out and taking a walk in the park. There are several other monuments close by worth checking out as well.

OK for a brief visit and a chance to enjoy the afternoon sun. There are many food vendors and a lovely lake. You can rent a boat for a few hours and spend a quiet afternoon relaxing. Not super important to visit if time is limited.
This is a very beautiful pond and a beautiful place to relax. Even in cold weather you can see people swimming and canoeing. Hot coffee and relaxing by the water always help recharge your batteries.
It's a beautiful free large park and gardens.

Wonderful park and highly recommended!! This park is huge and there's lots to do. It can be very busy as well. There's various food vendors, people playing music throughout, tons of places to walk around, and a big lake where you can paddle with a rowboat. Great park!

This impressive monument is on Retiro Park. There are several sculptures surrounding an equestrian statue of the king, Alfonso XII. More than twenty sculptors worked on the project. Currently, there are some reforms going on.
Beautiful area. Kids playing, great places to sit outside and eat. Loved it!

It balances so many "rocks". Beautiful park, always full of people with many different areas to relax in, from the main lagoon to any of the 'cafes'. Beautiful Glass palace. Basically behind the El Prado museum.

Much more than a simple park.
The Crystal Palace, the Rose Garden, the pond, and its adjoining monument...
But may be most of all the magnificent trees ask around.
A total must see and be in Madrid

Giant park in the middle of the town. Plenty to see, a lot of room to walk around and also some great scenery for pictures. Recommend checking it out if you are in Madrid.

So many paths and places to wander, filled with beautiful trees and delightful statues and water features. Skilled buskers add to the atmosphere. Definitely a welcome relief from the hot summer days to find a shady spot.
Pretty lake with fish and boats available to rent. Could do with more shaded areas, especially in Summer. Note the group of boats in one photo trying to fit under the solitary overhanging tree for shade on the August heat

El retiro park in Madrid is an absolute must see with vast expanse dotted with gorgeous gardens, sculpture and serene lake which provides a wonderful escape from the city .
You can enjoy this place whether your just strolling ,picnic or doing some exercises routine .
I recommend taking the paddling boats for 45 min
It costs 6 euro for 4 persons but need someone willing to steer and paddle
Very nice atmosphere and remarkable view
Waited in the line for 15 min or so.. there is skip fhe line tickets online, did not seem to be necessary
Choose the latest hours as i feel it is the best for the view
Sadly the pond is closed at 9 pm
Beautiful loved trees in water

This park reminds me of Central Park in NYC, but a smaller version and it’s just as beautiful. I loved walking around here and taking in the various monuments, the large pond surrounded with people and also filled with people on the water. The vibes here were immaculate and if you’re looking to do something in Madrid or just wanting to relax then this is the place to be!

Pros
- beautiful park
- you should visit the garden of roses (it's free)
- the sunsets are amazing
- a really nice experience in Madrid

Cons
- a lot of dogs
- temple of debod is not free
- it can get crowded at sunset hours

Conclusion
Go in advance before the sunset to visit the roses garden and then enjoy the sunset.
Nice monument in front of a pond with little boats you can paddle around in. When we went, there was construction going on by the monument, but it was still a nice visit. There are no tickets or admissions fees to enter; it's all part of the public park. However, there isn't a lot of shade in this part of the park, so prepare to be in the blazing sun. If you have a few hours to spend in the park, I'd recommend going.

Awesome place in the middle of a picturesque park
Visited here for about 3 hours and had the best time in Madrid at this park. The experience was like going to a carnival of festival. If I came back again, this would be the first thing I do is come to this park.
The square is very nice with restaurants and bars all around it, a couple of playgrounds and the monument to the heroes of 1808 uprising against the Napoleonic troops. The downside is that it fills up very quickly with people with the related inconveniences: waiting in line to get a table, smell of pee in the corners due to lack of public toilets etc.
Parque muy tranquilo y fresco con tanto riego

It’s a great activity to do with friends, family or couples. Only 8€ for a boat, 4 person per boat, for 45min.
There is also music all around the park which sets a very enjoyable mood.
I do recommend to reserve your time slot the day before on the website or the app so you don’t have to wait in the queue.

An incredible city park! It's large, well maintained, and very family friendly. It's great for running, walking, picnics, and dog walking. There are so many areas that are all structured for varying activities and interests. There are play areas for younger kids, green spaces for whatever suits you, and workout areas if that's what you're looking for. All and all I'm very impressed.
Such a beautiful building, very lively place, lots of buskers around and cute people dressed up in bears or lions costumes. You can also rent a boat and paddle around, lots of big fishies and ducks in the pond. The garden itself is spectacular. Bring some spare changes with you to tip the buskers.

The Spanish capital city of Madrid is a nice place to spend a couple of days . Roaming the picturesque streets, enjoying tapas with friends, and visiting museums in the city are sure to leave a lasting impression on travelers, making them want to come back to Spain for more. In Particular, Madrid is one of the best cities in Europe for a weekend trip among the British, thanks to how close it is to the UK; however, it's worth the flight for Americans across the pond, too.

nice❤❤
A cool place to have drinks with friends. A little crowded and dirty. I think if the place is well kept, it can be a good square.
Great place to have a picnic or a run/ walk. Highly recommend 1-2 hours to cover the grounds and see all the historical and sculptural pieces. Entry is free.

A “super” place to enjoy a hidden side of Madrid!
... not bad, but can be better ...
A beautiful monument and the location is simply the beating heart of Retiro park being beside a lake with boat rides.
An amazing work of art. It's amazing that it's even free to visit. You can also sit and chill calmly after viewing the work. Nobody is bothering you. Sometimes there is a lot of activity because people want to take pictures all the time, but other than that, it's a pretty quiet place. It is very possible to see people reading books. I think plastic canoes floating in the river affect the aesthetics very badly. Still a must go place.
Pretty surroundings, the Madrid sign is a must go if you want a picture
Very nice monument you should visit in El Retiro Park! Beautiful in every detail, the sculptures are amazing! A treasure for this park!

It's a nice place where they have everything shoping food cafe .....
A huge monument that you cannot miss. You can walk right up to it and around the whole thing. It is probably best viewed from a rowing boat, however be warned that the queue was taking a very long time if you did want to go in one.

Near our place, use to walk around n sometimes eat out at d lake nearby.
The walk from Piazza Espana at one point was not pleasant and made us feel insecure.
The whole area is full of graffiti and reminds us of Harlem in the USA.
The center itself is not particularly impressive and we even witnessed a gang and police fight, in conclusion, it is better not to come here
Nice small pond with lots of ducks and birds. Good shade to take a break.
Lugar precioso para meditar y disfrutar
Amazing monument area next to the pond in Retiro Park! The monument itself is very grand and is massive in scale. The view with it next to the pond is amazing. Good place for some cool selfies and family shots. Definitely worth the visit!
This was my favourite and most memorable part of El Retiro Park. This part of the park is so beautiful relaxing and photogenic. There is many opportunities for grate photos. There’s also places to sit relax and take in the beauty around here and the pond. The pond has a fountain in it and may even see a rainbow in the water from the fountain. You can also see animals in the fountain such as ducks and more. The crystal palace is also visible from all around the pond. This spot is so peaceful. I would definitely come back here again if I am in Madrid and would recommend this part of the park to anyone a specialty photographers.
Nice place, nice area especially on sunny day u can enjoy the outdoor terrace, but i didnt like the pizza i ordered the tuna pizza the tuna was grounded and mixed with the tomato sauce ,raw big slice of raw white onion make the tast of tuna disapear ,the dough was very thing with big qantiity of cheese and tastless tomato sauce made it one of the worst pizza i had tried in spain

We mostly come here for the dog park. I appreciate that the dog run is split into two sections. It allows for smaller dogs to be separated in their own space. The field here is great. The best park in the city. It is really big si you can walk or run for a long time and enjoy a good day in the park.

El río Manzanares se va recuperando al paso por Madrid
Fantastic monument. Enjoyed a ride through the park in nice carriage through the park with a great Columbian tour guide that I met at entrance and who took photos for me. I recommend your guide like this if you had only one hour like me. This is the main attraction in the park. I also liked feeding the peacocks nearby with bread and peanuts.
What a cute and quiet place to go get an afternoon cocktail with friends or a date. We had some Aperol Spritz and they brought out potato chips with our drinks...great for a lazy Sunday afternoon
The vibes around this area of the city were great! I loved having an ice cream and chill on a bench at this park. Lots of students, families and people exploring with happy faces. The only negative thing is the fact that someone thought it was a good idea to mess with the statues. Not cool.

There are some tables under the trees that allow you to have a picnic in plain summer.
This was probably our favorite part of the Retiro park. The crystal palace was like a sauna on the inside but very photogenic on the outside. The pond was full of turtles, swans, ducks and koi fish. There is even a small grotto to walk through (tip: take great photos of the fountain and palace through the grotto).
Very beautiful park with great landscapes.
