Absolutely beautiful outdoor space in Mishawaka. I grew up near here and envy folks who can appreciate this space now. A wonderful river walk, playground, and water pad for kids to cool off in. Aesthetically lovely. Encourage you to stop by if you are in the area!!

**Parents Beware**
This park is beautiful in appearance. It has a lot of different things for kids of all ages and a splash pad. There is a beautiful trail to walk or ride your bike around the water and plenty of places to fish.
Overall, it is a nice little park when you're just driving by.

Safety is a MAJOR concern here, though. As my family and I were pulling up to play on a Sunday after church, we witnessed a teen boy being beaten up by 2 other teen boys. Worse yet, no one was doing anything about it. (I did stop the fight, and the boy was able to go home to safety)
That being said, I know our kids are at risk pretty much everywhere they go no matter what they are doing but wanted to share my experience for other parents to be aware that this type of behavior is happening, in the middle of a park on a Sunday!

The newly updated equipment and splash pad are a great contrast to the park before the update. I wish the main play structure was a bit more accessible but overall it's a huge improvement.
Quiet and clean. Great place to enjoy the weather and walk. Take your family for a picnic.

The amenities here are great, nice playground, splash pad, right on the river walk. There's a band shell for evening activities. Nice garden areas. Just don't use the bathrooms. Or if you have to make sure you have shoes on. Do not let your kids go in there without shoes.

Me and my daughter do regularly. They have been rebuilding this park and it is wonderful now that playground and water park is done. However tennis court could use some sprucing, but we play on it anyway!
The city of Mishawaka has done a phenomenal job of creating a safe family friendly and accessible space for everyone near the St. Joe river.

One side of the park has the disc golf and then the other side has a playground , volleyball and basketball. But for some reason there's three or four random disc golf hoops on the playground area side so if you want to go for a picnic on the grass or walk around you can't because the disc people will be flinging around disc at you. The park would benefit from removing those three from the playground area side, other than that I enjoy this park

Not quite open yet, but if you stay on the playground they didn't mind. This grass is being resoded so you need to stay off. It's going to have a dog park. Whenever they get it done it's going to be amazing. The playground had lots of different things on it. It's designed for babies and up to 10 or so. But the rest of the park is unfinished and very large for in town. There is a game field either next to the park or on the far side of it. I couldn't tell. But either way there were several areas. I hope they open soon.

I have been enjoying Batell Park for over 70 years as a kid and now as a great-grand parent. There is a new shaded swing/slide/jungle gym behind this band she'll plus a great Waterpark. The river walk runs through this park. There is also well maintained tennis and pickles all courts here.

Great area to just work on technical throws. While having a basket you can still let one rip.

Actually a nice park! Splash pad for the kids with playground equipment right across. Porch style swings placed around with decent views of the river and bridge.

Doing construction or something not sure been a while since I've been there n only parked there waiting on a friend to text me back n didn't want to post outside her house like sum weirdo so I figured a public park was a Lil better... but even with the fence up the area was clean from any non construction debris and not all trashed at all so that's reassuring...

My wife and I love walking through this park. It's scenic, well-kept, and just a lovely walk. I'm a little too old to run through the sprinkler system in the summer but I am tempted. We just wish we lived closer.

This is a nice place. Has nice picnic area, lots of places for walking, cycling, etc. Great place for kids to play, The fountain is also very good. That river dam looks very nice, so many people were fishing on river. The wooden sculptures are also awesome addition.

We had our Mishawaka High School, Class Reunion, of 1968, on July 2, 2023, Our 55th Class Reunion. It was a Sunday. It Looked Like Rain But, Turned Out To Be A Beautiful Day and Evening!
Thanks To : Alice Marie Beard putting it together and Anyone Who Helped Her!
Her Planned Reunions Always Turnout a Great Success!!! Merrifield Park is a Great Place to have Reunions and Get Togethers! In 1968 when we Graduated
and about 5 years later for our first reunion, I think rental of the Manor Building was only $50.00....
But this year of 2023 it was over $300.00! (Alice Foot the Whole Bill!) So! Everything Changes in Time! LOL! Everyone was in their Seventies (70), NO Alcohol was Allowed! But it turned out to be a great day! Good to see everyone again! Alice said it was our last reunion, some time years ago! So! Fingers Crossed Maybe There'll Be Another One Someday! If Not It's Been Great! May GOD Bless Everyone and May They Live Their Life To The Fullist in Peace & Joy!!!
Beautiful and relaxing place for the entire family!

The park itself is fine,

However, the bathrooms are horrible. We rented a pavilion. Brought our own cleaning supplies and paper products, but others (not our group) trashed the bathrooms anyways. They smell awful. There are no doors on the stalls.

The grills are all falling apart.

The Parks department refuses to put up signs saying the pavilion has been rented.

When we arrived, another party was already there setting up. We had to explain that we had already rented it and ask them to leave. They were obviously upset.

It should not be our responsibility to make someone else pack up their stuff and leave, especially when the Parks department could just post a sign that says it has already been rented.

I found out later, WE could have posted a sign the day before, or earlier on the same day saying the pavilion is rented.

So, if you rent a pavilion put up a sign letting others know it's already taken.

This is a nice park! It's a little out of the way but the neighborhood is nice and the structures were clearly new and fun! It had a playground hammocks, benches, pavilions, and a mock ninja warrior course that was actually fun and challenging for an adult. Good parking.

The water slide is closed, likely permanently, due to poor maintenance. The concrete poor deck is broken and heaved around most of the pool. So watch your feet and toes and where you step! Also, I would not use or even swim near the swim race starting platforms. A few are ready to break and fall into the pool when a person is on it. Probably will happen this year.

This is a good park for children, likely a little old. I would say ages 3 and up.
My only complaint is they either need a lot more woodchips, or for someone to set the playground deeper in the ground. I am positive (because of where the house sits that it is almost two feet above ground than where it should be. So every equipment item is just a bit off the ground, and a lot higher up (so difficult for those who are shorter to reach)

Just a bit about Rose Park. It's a place to go to be alone and think, a very quiet
place to read, enjoy the peace and quiet. Thought the park is being up dated and the lay out is being change just a bit...therefore it may not be that quiet...until their done remodeling it!
Been going since I was little - when they had the tall stainless steel slide and animals on springs!

Had a blast with my 3 yr old here. Wasn't busy and just the right amount of stuff for a little climber.

Right next to a walking path so we even went for a river walk and explored the bridge.

Nice open field and basketball courts nearby.

The stone waterway is not only impressive, but is calming with the rippling waters working their way down through each pool to the dual water troughs and into the river below. Just the magnitude of the amount of stones to make such a magnificent and enchanting piece is phenomenal.

I would love to review this park but I couldn't figure out how to get there because as far as I could tell there were road construction and orange barriers at every single entrance. It's probably great if you live near it. Maybe it was closed for an event, or maybe it's the secret base for the lizard people, but mostly I'm just annoyed because I drove an hour specifically to meet someone there.

The lizard people of Mishawaka got to keep their secrets for another day.

Good family place. The kids enjoyed the swim, but our time was abruptly cut short by 45 minutes before the advertised swim time. Not happy that I didn't get my money's worth- A whistle was blown at 3:10 & we were told to leave, upsetting my children.

Big park along the river in Mishawka. Close to food options and a sometimes-running Biergarten.

Highlights include multiple pedestrian bridges, really interesting water irrigation/fountain systems great to play in when they are running, and this stunning rock garden leading down to the river.

I love the park I always go with my friends we play basketball and we chill its pretty fun if you are babysitting I would recommend going to hillis hans.
Very beautiful Park nice to walk with family and your pets. The only problem I have had is people letting their dog off leash even if your dog is friendly it doesn't mean other people's are I wish they would just keep their pets on a leash and enjoy the day's walk. Here's a lady with her dog off leash, if you zoom in on the picture you will see it's not only dangerous for her dogs but for other dogs too as also people you just never know.

Great place to bring the kids and beat the winter blues. Friendly staff, affordable concessions, and not too crowded. Very affordable afternoon out with the family!
A network of wide, paved sidewalks traverses this park, and links up to Crawford Park via a paved under-the-road path, to extend your walk options without necessitating crossing the street.
Merrifield has a wide variety of amenities, including: a playground, boat launch, shelters with picnic tables, an outdoor pool, ice skating rink, beautiful historic newly restored recreation building that can be rented, seasonal bathrooms and drinking fountains, and well-placed benches.
The trails are paved, with a smooth surface that is easy to push strollers and wheelchairs along. Trash cans are well-placed along the paths and near the playground and parking lots.

Very calm and nice area. If you want a little more quiet time this is a better time than the one a little up the street. You can fish or take a nice walk by the river. The bathrooms are seriously far away and only in one area. So if your kid has to pee, bushes it is or on themselves if they can't hold it.

A cozy little park. There's a playground for kids and open spaces to throw a frisbee or a ball. Not huge, but not a bad spot. There are benches and sidewalks and it is surrounded by houses. So not a ton of cars and traffic around.

This park overlooking the St. Joseph River retains hints of its history with stone walls and rock skirted walkways. A band shell circa 1927 was the focus of our night there -- two of our grandchildren were in a community musical performance. The park also features a splash pad, childrens' climbing center, a lazy water fall and amazing views of the river.
