They should always align the land after it is closed and wash it using disinfectant. because a lot of people don't add coconuts, it's too sour with pee and it's resulted in me not taking my dog anymore. very poorly taken care of.
Clean and spacious. Parking can be difficult to find during day, but had no issues in the morning.

Love the park. Gravel pavement with large rocks is a serious issue. Thank you 🐾👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Great park in Alexandria. They are working on the dog park but not much happening.
Kinda disappointed it's taking so long but hey, it's the government for yah. Slow to do anything of value, quick to take your money!
Parking for fishing at four mile run - plenty of spaces and short walk to get to the water.
This is a solid dog park that is generally well maintained and only occasionally very busy. The space is rather uninteresting and lacks lighting for nighttime visits, but presents an accessible place for your dog, big or small, to get some exercise!

My niece brought her dog for grooming based on my recommendation, and had the worst experience. Her fur baby was cut by Marlena who did not notify us of the injury until we picked up the dog. The dog was traumatized and anxious to leave. DO NOT take your dogs/fur babies to this groomer and if you do consider yourselves forewarned!!
Gravel surface is poor for the dogs compared to grass and dirt. Virtually no shade in the summer, dogs cluster in the small shaded area and pant. A wind tunnel for cold in the winter between two buildings. Look elsewhere if you can, the city has closed the park across the street for a year.

Nice well maintained dog park with a separate section for small dogs. They recently put up netting to ensure dogs can’t escape outside of the park through the fencing. Still easy to get into the larger dog area from the small dog area so would love to see the netting extend there as well, but otherwise this park is great

My baby enjoyed himself here. Made some new friends and this was his first time there. The people was so nice and so was their companions.

We share the same concern as a prior post with the extra wide spacing of the fencing. Our 12 pound Yorkiepoo walked through with ease, and it freaked us out. We were focusing on making sure the other dogs would be compatible but never thought to check the fencing. The street is about 15 yards away. Otherwise, it's a really great park. Friendly dogs and people, not too crowded, soft gravel, clean, limited parking spots, but no trash cans specific for dogs. And a great coffee shop next door (Swing Coffee) with bathrooms.
As a resident of the nearby apartments, I agree with the earlier review that whoever allowed this dog park to be built in this location should be fired. While a dog lover myself, many inconsiderate owners utilize this park with their exceedingly obnoxious, overly vocal dogs very early in the morning (7-730am on weekends is common). It’s very disruptive to the several hundred residential units directly next door. Many of us would appreciate owners of vocal dogs instead utilizing the larger dog park across Monroe Ave and a further distance from where so many live. A gentle reminder to owners that barking dogs before 9am on weekends in a residential area is also a violation of the City’s noise ordinance.
Popular, well maintained dog park. We have a smaller dog and there are mostly bigger dog here (there is a park for smaller dogs across the street). Plentiful parking nearby and nice group of people who frequent this park. Only complaint is it is on a hill and if our dog who is small goes to the top we cannot see him so we need to physically follow him.
A very simple park: all gravel, limited shade. Separate areas for big and small dogs. There are dog water fountains and when we were there at least 1 metal dog bowl to fill up.

My pup and I were having a lovely time until a guy in his 20s showed up with his 2 dogs, a golden retriever and a boxer—the massive golden proceeded to leap all over me, covering me in scratches, while the boxer IMMEDIATELY went after my dog, aggressively snapping at his neck and growing at him while my sweet pup trie to get away, crying. The man did effectively nothing to help, merely saying “oh, sorry about that” before sitting down on the bench and becoming engrossed in his phone. Needless to say, we left right away; and two other people with their dogs who were about to enter quickly decided not to.
Nice neighborhood play ground. Not big but next open fields that kids can run around. Also multiple picnic tables around the park. Lots of climbing structures. Easy street parking.
Just off the hidden path we
have this little stretch of water called Four mile run Park ...this place has walking and bike trails in addition to fishing and bird watching!!
Visited the dog park here with my pooches. A mix of grass on the hill and gravel at the flat land--enough for pooches to run around on either wherever they are comfortable. Difficult to keep an eye on them when you on the grass just because of the slope. All dogs/owners we have met so far have been very respectful and well behaved. They have pools for the dogs to lay in on hot days and plenty of water access. Make sure to bring your own poop bags!

The community around here is wonderful. Everyone is so kind and friendly. It's very rare someone doesn't keep an eye on their pup and a problem arises. The fountain for water are wonderful and the tennis courts keep the public supply of balls stocked for the pooches.
small dog and big dog area. big dog area is great. gravel, but not super dusty. wish there was a trashcan in the park for waste.

Not enough people wearing masks here! Otherwise great park
Just stumbled on this park in the new neighborhood. Well lit and open park. The park is flat with plenty of running space, and towards the back is an inclined/terraced earth level that levels off to be flat. Was perfect for our 16 yr old husky mix to get his exercise on easy terrain. The other owners we encountered that day were nice and all had younger dogs that were really enjoying themselves playing and running the park together. Will go back again.

What a wonderful park. Lots of friendly people walking and biking. A great asset to the local community
I only went to the playground. Which was nice to be a small neighborhood park. Everything was clean and well well kept. There is not a lot of shade at the actual playground area. I have a toddler who is 3 and everything was so hot she couldn't enjoy it. Nevertheless the playground was exceptional

Dog parks reopen in Alexandria! Still no running water for the dogs, so bring your own.

Situated near a water treatment plant, don't say that in a bad way. The stream it sends water to seems clean with ducks and fish , and it's got some fancy fence work on the sides.

This is a great walk, run, bike park. It has a wide paved path and runs from the Mt. Vernon Trail/GW parkway to the Shirlington/Barcroft area where it links to another park.

This park has really come a LONG way, it has playgrounds, outdoor soccer fields, baseball fields, a well paved bike path, and guided nature paths! My dog and I love it!

We love putting in our kayaks here and enjoying the river. Wish you had a proper launch however. Parking is easy. This gem of a park has a lot to offer. Explore the trails by foot or by bike.
Great baseball field and very well maintained. Only draw back is there's a dog park located right next to big simpson field and it really stunk last night. Maybe this isn't normal and was to be cleaned up soon but it was awful.
Great bike/run trail! Multiple routes can be taken! Leads towards Ronald Reagan airport! Pretty scenic throughout!
Friendly place, but poorly maintained (so, play at your own risk). Public bathroom for the baseball and soccer fields are available 24/7 year-round; a huge advantage over nearby Shirlington dog park in Arlington. The City has put off much needed renovation and nearly all maintenance, waiting until Pulte Homes puts the finishing touches on a nearby dog park that was required under their development permit for condos across the street. Now more than two years overdue, the consequences for Simpson dog park are showing. Since Simpson dog park is built on top of debris from the collapsed Monroe Ave bridge, over-use of the dog park has killed all if the grass that held a protective layer of dirt in place. Wet weather turns the park into a muddy cesspool. The debris is increasingly exposed and increasingly becoming a hazard to dogs in the park. The picture is of a piece of metal debris that my dog got caught between her toes recently. Understandably, fewer and fewer people use the park. Once a jewell in Alexandria's crown, this dog park is best avoided nowadays. ... unless there's nowhere else to go. (Actually, there isn't. Just brace yourself before you come and plan to bathe the dog upon returning home.)
