We spent some time out here on Saturday and the whole family had a blast. There is a nice playground on the premises and tons of trails. The Nature Center has a lot of interactive activities and the bird watching was so fun. We will definitely be back again.

Pretty area, nature center a little misleading advertising being free when the only part worth seeing inside cost $10+/person and what was free was not worth the drive,(just a few small reptiles behind glass is pretty much all that they have in the free section), trails by nature center were underwhelming, but more trails around the park area, playground at the park area was smaller but had some nice features that made it fun and interesting.

This place is beautiful and great to go to with family. There are playgrounds and trails for bikes and walking. My family of three walks about 6 miles everytime we go here and it's a great way to get in some walking while being surrounded by trees and water.
It's a really nice place to go for a walk

Good trails and views of the river but parts of it are closed to the public. Would also recommend sticking to the path because I did see some poison Ivy plants

This is the fiberglass concrete playground that broke my son's neck. Who thinks concrete is good for a playground for kids. He was 4 when he fell and landed head first on concrete. Be careful at the 600k costing concrete mess. Looks great kids run wide open toward the deadly structures. US products safety commission deemed it unsafe.
God saved my son, 7/27/2013!
This park is very nice! A bit of a drive for me but definitely great place to get a workout and do some cycling. The trails are well marked. Mainly paved trails. I will definitely be returning... I really enjoyed the river next to the hike. Enjoy!

Very fun mountain bike trails that are well maintained, with good features built for a little extra fun. Mostly cross country trails, which should take a little over an hour to do all the loops.

Vast and diverse and fantastic for any type of cyclist or even those seeking wildlife. Restrooms and water provided most of the year. Shaded biking and hiking trails.

Such a great place to walk for a LONG time. The trails all loop around and connect, so you could take a new route every time. I've been here more than 6 times and have taken a new path each time. The playground is quite nice too if you have little ones. Wildlife can be spotted here, such as hawks, squirrels, ducks, and more. Do bring your bug spray if you visit spring-fall as the mosquitoes are strong in some parts. Also be careful of going off-trail as there are chiggers and poison ivy.

7.5 miles of trail for running, hiking, or cycling . The trail on the east end is a big improvement recently. Had a great ride yesterday. Going west on the trail has been terrible since parts are falling in the river. It's been doing this for a few years and nothing is being done to fix it. A nasty looking fence should come down and regroom the trail with cement or asphalt where the detour of wood chips have been placed.

Got to get through some of the trees but once you do it’s nice
Very nice walking path, and even during the hottest Texas summers you can *mostly* enjoy a stroll through lots of dense foliage. Great place to get in those steps!
Great spot for a short hike through the woods. You can also see 3 owls they have! Cook experience. Parking is limited.
Despite construction it is a great trail.
Went kayaking here with my brother and oh baby! It's like a winding staircase all the way to the top!

Gorgeous trails. VERY busy on weekends. Fun playground. Lots of wildlife. Have seen armadillos, turtles, herons, hawks, even a golden eagle! Some of the paved trails got washed away a while back, but have been re-routed with mulch paths. Wildflowers everywhere in April!
Went kayaking here with my brother and oh baby! It's like a winding staircase all the way to the top! It stops just short of the highway, and has all these dips and smaller pools going up. Very cool spot, especially en route to Chain bridge and the Potomac River rapids just past the bridge!

Great walking area
Potomac Overlook Regional Park is an absolute gem of a park in Virginia it offers a wide variety of recreational activities for individuals and families alike. As someone who has visited the park multiple times, I can confidently say that it is one of my favorite outdoor destinations in the area.

The park is nestled in a picturesque setting and boasts numerous hiking trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding natural landscape. These trails are well-maintained and cater to all levels of hikers, from beginners to more experienced outdoor enthusiasts. The park also features a nature center that offers a range of educational programs and exhibits about the local flora and fauna, making it an excellent destination for families with children.

One of the things I love most about Potomac Overlook Regional Park is the abundance of picnic areas and open spaces that make it a perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon with friends or family. Whether you're looking to play some sports, enjoy a picnic lunch, or simply take a stroll, there is something for everyone here.

Another highlight of the park is the impressive overlook that provides breathtaking views of the Potomac River and surrounding area. It's the perfect spot to take in a beautiful sunset or enjoy a peaceful moment of solitude.

Overall, I would highly recommend Potomac Overlook Regional Park to anyone looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's a well-maintained and well-loved park that offers something for everyone, and I always leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a visit. The children had a great time.

Many parts of the cement path are hazardous and closed off. There are no usable trails that aren't just shortcuts around these hazardous portions.
If you are looking for a nice get away from the city feeling, this park is the place to go. From the time you go into the parking lot you feel immersed by the wilderness. It has nice wide paved paths that take you down heavily wooded paths. It offers picnic areas and creek side hiking paths too.

Good trail for jogging, but since constructions, the rout was detoured.

Be careful for construction areas and also random and sometimes aggressive bikers that are without headlights when it gets dark.

Nice overlook.
Potomac Regional Overlook park is a off Military Rd, on Marcy Rd. It looks like a residential neighborhood but opens to a county maintained park.
Pass the basketball and tennis courts up a short winding road that splits and forks to the right. A small tot playground and parking lot are at the top of the loop.

Several walking trails split from a main trail. Heritage signs along the way explain a small portion of the land’s history. Most trails are easy for anyone. There’s a trail that along the creek. It’s hard to cross depending on the time of year. But there are several places to play in the water. Dog friendly.
Beautiful waterfall after a beautiful hike.
Only worth visiting this point if there are no leaves on the trees. The view is otherwise blocked by foliage.
It should remove 'overlook' from its title but other than that, it is easy to walk around and navigate.
The view has changed quite a bit since the inception of the park. You can NOT see the Potomac from any viewpoint that we traversed today.
There were several noisy school groups on the paths in the woods; but also a pleasant surprise of the rescued owls and falcon. That was neat to see.
The paths were not that difficult and we pretty much wandered around for an hour with no problems. I would have liked a bit harder terrain but this was nice after our more rigorous hike yesterday.
There is a nature center here and the parking was pretty decent. Bathrooms available too. I would recommend this for running about as well as easy hiking.

Pretty good trail. Nice view of the river. Careful with wildlife, had to turn around because we saw a reptile we couldn't identify and we were not properly geared at an alternate path.
There were plenty of trails to explore. There were quite a few people, kids and dogs on leashes but it wasn't like you were standing in line. We didn't have a map with us but there was one at the beginning of Overlook Trail(should havevtaken a picture) which is the yellow trail near parking lot. We thought we were going to do the yellow and red trails because they intersect each other. Some trees do have markers on them but at some intersections you can't tell which path you are on for quite awhile. Which is why we ended up being on yellow, red, green, Potomac Heritage and blue trails. We ened the day following blue till we found a waterfall on right and there is a steep high step rock stairway that leads to a neighborhood. Google maps helped us get to the park through the neighborhood. We could have back tracked but there were some brutal parts that I just wasn't up to doing again. Young fit people would have no problem with it. You do need to cross some streams on the Potomac Heritage and blue trails. With easy rock hopping. There are some trees crossing the paths I'm 5 ft and only had a real problem with one. It was an adventure that I would like to do again!
It's a beautiful little park in a very nice neighborhood.

Great little hike, lots of trails. Just don't recommend going right before sunset or you'll run into older gentleman "cruising" the trails.....
The urban forest! Wintertime overlook or Georgetown and the river from Rosslyn in a public park. Nice view.
This is a small, beautiful waterfall on the hike between Donaldson Run and Windy Run. It is a technical hike, but treats like this make it well worth the hike.

It's a beautiful trail to walk, run and/or bike!!
I run or jog three or four times a week ,my favorite part hidden gem
Such a great hidden gem! The trails are well shaded and maintained. Their bird-of-prey rescue center and community garden are a great educational outlet for all. Put this on your list of places to visit in the DC area.

I completely enjoy this area, great people around the area, water along the trails, if you know where your going it can connect you into Old Town Alexandria, Regan National Airport, even Rosslyn into Georgetown DC. Mind ya'll that's a little over 24.5 mile from the point of 4 mile run I am referring too, where I live for the time being.
I had a blast I saw the bird in the cages and wildlife. I was on a date with my girlfriend and she loved it. The trees changing color is always fun to see. Plus there wasn't a lot of people thereto we kinda had it to ourselves. They have picnic tables and chairs all throughout the park. Trails are well kept. I would recommend it to my friends.
Easy, flat walk on paved road. Not a great view because you’re surrounded by electrical plants (I think?). It’s more of a very local place to get a walk in.

Let's run
Easy to bike. Pretty view. Will be adding it to my weekly workout routine. Glad I found it.
Louise(my dog) thought we were going out for a short hike and ended with 3.5miles of exploring the hills, the river, meeting new fur friends. The scenery was peaceful. The trails were well kept and the area was clean a preserved. We even saw a pack of deer run through. The trails did not have a lot of traffic on them but just enough to know where you were. I think we could have easily got 4miles of exploring in.
Good hike and bike trail, which connects to a much longer trail. Nice view of a creek. Not much else there. No restrooms, no swings, no jungle gym. I don't remember any picnic tables. I did see a couple of benches along the trail, but I'm not sure they were within the boundaries of this park.
This park is quite big really it is the place you want to be if you plan on biking kayaking and the fishing is amazing in the spring perch everywhere small mouth bass and large moth also around pretty quiet and runs on a lovely creek and amazing nehibor hood truly a good experience.
