Nice walking and biking path.
Not a jeep trail, even though it comes up as one.

Good trails and saw a woodpecker. Not sure if it is good for birdwatching though..
This is a great mountain biking trail, but I don’t recommend it for hikers. The trail is narrow and has a lot of bikers. Also a fair number of wasps that seem pretty angry about being run over by bikes. The stream is pretty - otherwise the trail is nice but nothing special. We didn’t have trouble finding parking at the trailhead.
I will tell you that if you want to reach the very top...be prepared! The second half is much more daunting than the first half. In addition, remind yourself that you still need to turn around to come down. The good news is that the ENTIRE hike will provide spectacular views full of beautiful flowers along the way if you are hiking late July early August. If you feel you're not up for the entire hike, any part of the hike is spectacular!
Love hiking this trail as part of a longer hike starting at Gambrill parking and through the watershed.
As it usually is 3 hours of hiking in Gambrill state park and the 3 saws trailhead saw absolutely no hikers no mountain bikers no dog walkers had the place to myself for over 3 hours.
Nice climb up hill from the Hamburg lower parking lot up to the Catoctin blue trail of close to 700' elevation gain.

The trail head parking lot is small, perhaps for 6 cars. On a weekday morning it was half full. The trail begins right off the parking lot. Ford the shallow stream and start on the trail proper. Most of the trail is easy. We skipped the saw and took the nose to get a longer hike. There is a short section that was steep but otherwise it's an easy hike. We didn't meet anyone along the trail.
Nice little walk I suppose. Safe place and relaxing.
The car park is small but conveniently located in the middle of the trail. The whole trail is less than 5 miles one way. It's an asphalt trail with minimal traffic. You see the creek along the way but at this time of the year we didn't spot any animals.

Have only explored a small portion starting near the Home2 hotel, but it's a quiet and very pretty nature trail. Seen a few bikers and runners as well. Would recommend for a morning walk for sure

I climb up Hamburg rd. all the time on my bike. It's one of the most beautiful and hard climbs in Frederick.

Off-road parking at the bottom of two very popular hiking/mountain bike trails in the Frederick watershed. Unpaved and very little grading. A popular area, so probably fills up quickly on weekends.
