This is a great trail to ride because it provides lots of tree cover so on hot days you’re not struggling there’s moderate elevation changes did you can handle with a regular bike or an electric bike. It takes you through cherry orchards, apple orchards, cornfields, asparagus fields in small towns, along the way to include Mears, Mi, Shelby,Mi. New Era, Mi. and then the next stop is Montague, Mi. The half way point is New Era, Mi. & a great place to stop at Country Dairy for lunch and some good ice cream. We’ve made this ride 12 or more times and is one of our favorites. The total distance is 20 miles from Hart, Mi to Montague, Mi. or 10 miles from Hart, Mi to Mew Era, Mi.
So depending on where your leaving from you can do either 20 miles or 40 miles what ever your up for, we have done both with our pedal assist electric bikes only because they have a distance of 45 miles.
Yes electric bikes are a life saver when your 80 YO but you still have to pedal or you don’t get those distances but it really helps when your going up hills along the way.
Overall it was a great trail. Both sunny and shaded areas. However, crossing over a couple of the busier roads to continue on the path between the cities could have been better marked for drivers. There was one stop in particular that the cars were not slowing down in order for our group to cross.
Great places for a nice walk, jog, or bike ride! Love our walks!
One of Michigan's great rails to trails bike path. Quiet, well paved, beautiful. Second time on it. Won't be my last.
Beautiful trail with plenty of scenery. These trails are very well kept as well. There are many stops along the way, including bars, restaurants, historic landmarks, and parks.
Thank goodness for Michigan’s bike paths; they are well-maintained and the rest stops are maintained as well.
This trail is well maintained and has beautiful scenery. There were also picnic tables throughout the trail. We got on at Hart trailhead and there was good parking and a decent restroom at that location.
Very nice trail to the lighthouse. Easy walk or bike ride, some shade and very flat. It worth going just to see the light house. Please give my review a thumbs up if you liked it or found it helpful.
