A great place that does a lot of research.
Its okay here but when I just got there at night at the people there are freaking rude only the burses and docters are nice but the receptions are freaking mean and rude

They conduct painful and ultimately deadly experiments on animals that do nothing to advance our understanding of human health. Ridiculous institute
This place really needs to stop doing animal testing. Downright disgraceful and cruel for no reason. We should only be using human test subjects who are compensated and willfully taking part. Animals were not meant for our testing of more things for humans. Free Guinneas
Everyone I meet, all of my medical care professionals are the best.
This place is filled with miracle workers. We arrived here for cancer treatment. To remove a tumor. Unsuccessful in two big-name hospitals in California. These hard-working surgeons after 12 hours of surgery were successful. There is no place like this. They truly by far are the best!
Awesome environment at NIH. Easy Metro access. Clean grounds and buildings.

Never trust the government

This is the place you come when you have exhausted all other possibilities. And here you are treated like and no other medical facility. The best doctors researchers nurses and clinicians want to heal you... And they aren't being pressured by financial pressures to see so many patients per hour. In fact the ratio of patient to nurse is two to one. They will endlessly answer questions and be available for email and phone call. This is medicine as it is meant to be

7 years ago my husband got a bone marrow transplant and they took care of him very well ( we got a rom at the children’s inn for free for 4 months and food everyday!

While their campus is larger, using their shuttle service helps navigate it easily. Security can be aggravating as the line can be long, but once inside, everything ran smoothly. All staff, aside from our direct contacts, were all helpful anytime we had a question or concern. Admissions took a while, but our admissions liason was friendly and professional.

Warning to visitors, particularly out of state visitors: Even if you are a conceal carry holder, the NIH police will steal your firearms and throw you in jail if you legally have a firearm in your vehicle when you approach the gate. They don't even ask if you have anything. They just start searching through your vehicle and will not allow you to leave.
After they release you from confinement, you will be forced to make multiple trips back to the area to appear before a federal judge. At the end of the process, they still don't return the property that they stole.
They do this to people on a daily basis, sometimes to multiple people in a day.

Scheduled a blood donation. I was never sent the email with the follow-up information to access the donation site. Called back back spoke with the supervisor he assured me the email would be sent and it never was sent if you'd like to donate blood consider somewhere else
I love the environment and the few doctors i have had here. Not only do they fix you they will make you stronger. These last 6 yrs put me back on top when i was at the bottom. Everyone i have met and known has noothing but positive wrds just like i do.

It was awesome..they made me very comfortable through all of the tests. All of the people were very and friendly and helpful. Before I left I felt like I had new friends who really cared about me and my well being. I have to go back in 1 year. I can't wait to visit again. I had a very good and positive experience. Thank you guys so much.
The most amazing place I've ever seen in my life it's huge people are amazing everybody including the janitors the doctors are wonderful and kind... America should be proud of this institution!!
The NIH is great place but access is restricted. If you are coming for the first time as a trial participant or patient, don't be too intimidated by the security or the scale of the place. Everyone is very helpful and always seem to understand our initial bewilderment.
I'm in clinical trials at the NIH their doctors, researchers and staff can't be beat!! They are knowledgeable, courteous, kind and accommodating. They take as much time as you need to answer questions, explain things and in general work with you to find answers and treatments for your health needs. I hope you don't need them but if you do don't hesitate it's worth the time and effort.
I'm a medical professional myself for an unaffiliated organization, and I chose this place be an inpatient for my rare disease. The nursing staff and other supporting disciplines for inpatients are incredible—responsive, compassionate and encouraging—and most importantly, they take the time to treat each patient like an individual human. My specialty team is among, if not THE, most knowledgeable in the world about my condition. The amenities are excellent; I've been particularly enjoying the library, but there's also art, entertainment, a relaxation room, therapy animals, acupuncture and a host of other recreational activities to aid patients and/or families mentally and spiritually as they address their medical needs. Last but hardly least, it's highly rewarding knowing that while receiving such cutting edge care for myself, I'm also participating in research to optimize treatment for other patients in the future. I hope you and your family never need a place like this, but if you do, this is the place to be.
It is listed here as a hospital which is open 24 hours. Beware, it is not! As we drove up to the gate with a medical emergency (severe dog bite), the lady which answered the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she claimed that she was the supervisor, and made it clear (in a passive aggressive way) that she was not interested in updating the research center's description online. Do not go here if you need to get to a hospital! Misleading description.
It's a really big research campus with several buildings. Some of the best research in the world is conducted on this campus. It has a direct train to D.C. too. Hope this helps!
Groundbreaking and Necessary Work. The Hard work of the entire community, every institutional, industrial and private entity; should be applauded and recognized objectively as the most comprehensive collective of minds on the planet. Not enough people thank and recognize the work Research Institutes do on be glad of all people. It is work that the whole population, should be not only thankful for - but interested in, and trusting in those who see the bigger picture and are acting in ways that are not conventional or homogenous; so that risks are mitigated, successes are controlled and precise, and the cross-pollination of all the projects must just be the most inspiring place for those who haven't had the opportunity to work in conditions where the exceptional, the unknown, the risky, are everyday. Thank you - the entire agency and all the Projects and Initiatives for tackling so much in a time where it is impossible to do so. Some of us look around and not only empathize, but see the immense weight that comes with challenges that range in spectrum as far as a range can be. I had to just write a quick note and thank you all.
