The way they communicate is through ignoring. Ignoring heat issues, leaking ceilings, poor upkeep of the property. If you are looking for a management company that actually responds to whatever the inquiry is, this is not it. Be warned.
We've lived here for about 5 years now & it's just the best. It feels very communal, we have the dog park right behind us, the park to the south - it's tucked away but still near most major train lines, the building management is great. lovely neighborhood. highly recommend.
I pay $2,800 a month to live in an upscale building in Asbury Park NJ. I have lived with cockroaches for over a year. Exterminator comes out and does nothing when we ask, the cockroaches continue to pop up. More recently all of my neighbors have been telling me about mice in their apartments and sure enough I now have mice(probably the cleanest home you would ever enter) constantly cleaned professionally and personally multiple times a week. One property manager promised and guaranteed us they would move us out with no penalties due to these issues to any sackman property available, well we found out that was a lie by another property manager. The buildings are infested and the management is poor. Such a shame.
Having lived in a Sackman owned and managed building for 10.5 years, contrary to some other reviews here, I have to say I never really had a bad experience. Our building was well maintained and clean, our super, Edvin, was very responsive and did a great job keeping the building looking great.

The office staff over the years were always helpful and nice, and had nothing but great interactions with Executive Property Manager, Cynthia and Property Manager Alex. Any concerns and questions were immediately addressed.

Had I not needed to move a little closer to my job, I would’ve loved to stay in my old apartment for years to come.

I’ve had a really poor experience investing in one of their partnerships in Chicago. The communications from this firm are virtually nonexistent and any updates provided are eventually useless. The original projections are worthless and multiple investors have been asking for updated projections for a year and they have provided NOTHING. Sure, COVID and the FED rate hikes aren’t helping, but they are doing little to reassure investors. And even worse, they provide K1s in mid-September each year, which is unacceptable. I can understand a few months after April 15th, but September holds investors hostage from filing tax returns to get refunds. The team is also extremely rude, condescending, and unsympathetic of anything and everything. I will NEVER invest in one of their deals again.
Great staff, friendly, good communication, close dog park if you have dogs, great views, great 4th of July views. Best sunset views.

Everyone was very kind and understanding!!
I had stayed here several years ago. This place has one of the best views in the city. I also had the luck to witness July 4th Fireworks from the roof top. The staff was extremely courteous and helped us with everything for our stay.

They are rude, money hungry sharks. Please beware that all they care about is money and not the quality of living being provided. When they found out I wasn’t renewing my lease (after they raised the rent almost $500) they ignored my calls for weeks on end. And when I moved the remainder of my furniture a day late they kept my entire deposit. They lied and said it was because they had an open house they’d have to cancel, but that wasn’t true and nothing was ever scheduled. I know of someone who abruptly quit working them. The manger is rude and will hang up on you. Their rent is overpriced! The floors are paper thin and you hear stomping from neighbors, the heater doesn’t work and you’ll spend winter months freezing. Not worth it. Good riddance sackman

I have lived in a Sackman building for several years, and the quality of management has declined dramatically this year. The five buildings Sackman manages on my street have all had cockroach infestations since the summer. For months, management made only half-hearted attempts to respond, then finally began to take more aggressive action in the last two weeks in the face of escalating tenant complaints. Yet the roach sightings continue. Other serious apartment health hazards have gone unaddressed for weeks on end, and when tenants raise issues, we are ignored or face outright hostility from management.

Great experience !!!!🥰🤎
We loved living in the building (605 W 112th) and only had positive experiences with our rental. I also appreciate the way the managing company handled COVID precautions in our building and am very grateful to the super continuing to work throughout the pandemic. The super was also very responsive when we had issues in our unit. The building is very well maintained, the street is the best in the neighborhood and we were very sad to be leaving!

I also toured additional properties within their portfolio in the UWS and the property manager was very helpful and knowledgeable. Sackman has retained very dedicated staff which speaks volumes. It is clear there is a high level of quality maintained across the portfolio and it set a high bar for any other unit we toured.

We moved to a larger unit with a different property management company only after checking whether Sackman/Keyah had one that would fit our needs. We did not have any issues getting our security deposit returned. We would absolutely rent from them again.

This is the best managed building I've lived in. The management and leasing are great at communication. The staff and live-in super are professional, friendly and very well trained. Any issue I've had was resolved quickly and well. Any work request was submitted via the resident portal and followed up on the next day. The building is older, so one or twice one of the three elevators were shut down or no water for a few hours because they were repairing pipes, but advance notice was given at least 1-2 days in advance.

FYI many of the residents own their apartment or have been tenants for at least 2 years, which is why there aren't many reviews.
I had a good experience with Sackman. No issues getting my security deposit back at the end of my lease, and were accomodating of my desired move in date. They warned me before I signed the lease that the elevator would be out for a few months for upgrades, and proactively offered a very fair rent discount for the months it was out.

I had no major issues with the apartment, and when I had a minor one the super came quickly and fixed it and in some cases was proactive about issues I wasn't even aware of. The staff was friendly and kept the building well maintained, and other than the laundry units in the basement sometimes being out of commission I really have no complaints about the building. I requested a landlord reference letter from them when applying for a new apartment and got one without any major issues.

When Covid first hit they sent out an email saying they wouldn't offer any alternative rent discounts or work with tenants on that front which was a bummer, but I guess the fact that they didn't go above and beyond on that front shouldn't be held against them.

Overall, I'd happily rent from them again -- only reason I didn't this time is because none of their buildings met my new criteria.
Truly one of the worst management companies in NYC. I lived in one of the buildings they managed for a year. Within that year, the super entered my apartment unlawfully while My roommate and I were asleep. There wasn't an emergency, he was checking on a radiator that had been turned off the day before. We a full week with no heat in November. To which they said sorry there is nothing we can do.
In December I informed management and the super that we had a rodent problem. To which I got no response. The laundry in the building would frequent break. Packages were stolen almost weekly.
Avoid this company and their buildings if at all possible!
Great building and friendly staff
