Went to LABOR to get a new bowl deck skateboard. They built it quickly and most importantly the staff was super welcoming. I left the shop excited to re-enter the world of skating because of their enthusiasm. Took it to Astoria skatepark and can’t wait to try out the other parks around the city. Thanks LABOR!!
not even joking the chillest people ever. semi new to skating and they helped me out with everything and even through in some free stickers. i recommend them if your in the area or even out of the area because they are incredible.
I was visiting New York and needed to put the trucks back on my board after the plane ride. Chris was extremely helpful, very welcoming and the shop was such a great vibe. I visited the shop a few times over my stay in New York and each time I felt welcomed. The prices are very good, i bought some clothes and they are of great quality. Highly recommend, the shop is great culture :)
I absolutely love coming to this spot, the owner is so friendly knowledgeable and welcoming and it really is a wonderful addition to the community. Chris is always having wonderful charity events to be a mentor to the kids. It's always so much fun, they offer every skateboard yoy van imagine and also with the owners expertise and recommendations. I highly recommend checking out this spot!!!!!
Love this place. Hey everybody! Support your local skate shop! This place isn’t just a retail store, it’s a culture. You are missing out on something special if you buy online. Chris fitted our guy for a board and was patient with us while we struggled to decide. Our son ended up with something quite special and we haven’t looked back. We even stopped in to ask about his trucks and Chris loosened them up on the spot without batting an eye- no charge- just great customer service. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Don’t miss it.

I've been going to Labor since I was in high school, and it's been so awesome seeing them grow and even open up a new storefront in Brooklyn. Every deck I own I bought at Labor, and I am so proud of it. These guys support skate culture in NYC in the most wholesome welcoming way, and give back so much to the community. All that, and they stock sick products that they are incredibly knowledgeable about. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
I walked in earlier today with my partner and sister to browse. This branch has plenty to look at. We wanted to look around as this location seemed bigger than the one we usually go to at the Queens Center Mall. A curly haired employee stated that my sister and I look “stuck up” and that my partner looked like my sibling. It was an odd encounter. The other staff let us browse when we told them we just wanted to look around but this particular employee was persistent in speaking with us, it was uncomfortable. Outside of her, the actual store and other staff seemed good!
Awesome vibe and great prices at the Canal Street location. Matt replaced my longboard bearings- he's a great dude.
We can’t recommend UWS enough. We walked in off the street with our son who is on the spectrum and Chris the owner stopped everything to help him get onto a board for the very first time. For 2 local parents who know nothing about skateboarding, Chris was super helpful to explain what we needed and to offer tips on local skaters who could offer lessons to him. While we didn’t walk out with a board and into Riverside Park like our kid wanted, we definitely got a complete education to make a decision to go back. We are very glad we didn’t buy a board online and end up with a trip to Urgent Care. Thank you Upper West Side Skates, you parents should go here.
Owner, Chris, is welcoming and extremely helpful. He took the time to talk to my son and understand what he was really looking for, and to explain everything to me. The store has a great selection of skateboards and all the other gear. We had a great experience.
Walked in to this shop as our first stop in the city. We were welcomed right into the shop and given the best treatment you could imagine! We bought 3 brand new completes and spent time with the owner while he set them up. Great family friendly atmosphere and an excellent selection of skateboards and collection items. We will definitely be coming back during our time in the city!
Came in with a board with busted bearings and the owner, Chris, stopped at nothing to try to fix the board.

First time getting a board Both workers there that day were super nice, and super helpful with any questions and advice highly recommend this shop.
The staff is really helpful in picking out and setting up a new board for me. They have good prices and deals. Would recommend coming here.
I came here today for Skate Shop Day- I got such great help from Jason, Nkosi and Sammy! They helped to recommend boards to me, they showed me some special limited edition shoes, and even suggested a few good local skate spots. I will definitely be back!

I love the name of this place
THIS is the spot for anyone who loves skateboarding, and even anyone who’s interested in getting into it. Jeff, one of the owners is friendly and super-knowledgeable. He swapped out the trucks on my friend’s board…but only after he first tried to fix the old trucks (ie: you can trust him). Everything you need is here, and the vibe in the store is real. Side note: Gus, the store dog, is adorable.
Jeff the owner has years of experience building and riding boards... I have bought boards and wheels here and always drop in for a chat when I am in the neighborhood... highly recommend a visit
The atmosphere is great, once you walk in you have staff welcoming you. Staff are understanding, friendly, attentive and cool.

Such a pleasant experience at Uncle Funkys Boards! The owner is extremely helpful and very kind, he has his little dog Gus as his helper! Overall my experience purchasing a skateboard deck was simple and very easy. Will recommend to any skaters or anyone looking for cool attire and accessories to buy.
Absolutely amazing service. There was a guy who just started there and helped me out. Said he really liked my fit. Was one of the shops and experiences I’ve been looking for while shopping for a long time.
Bought a new deck, wheels, trucks and bearings with these guys and had them fit it all up for me. Cost me $ 150. Went to the skate park the next day two of my wheels came clean off 30 seconds into my ride. Lost a bolt and my ride was over before it even started Was very disappointed as they new I was a newbie to skating so would've hoped for more care taken in respects to my safety.
Outside of this great customer service. They were very helpful, patient and more than happy to let me try out heaps of dec's.

Amazing service!!! I called ahead to see if they had the shoes I wanted in store and the guy was really patient and helpful. Even if they didn't have my color in store, they still offered to put my size aside so I could come in and try them. When we went they instantly knew who I was and helped me out. We had a chat about the style I was looking for and even if I didn't end up buying those shoes that day, I'll be waiting for them to restock now that I know they fit. Thank you!!!

Great clothes for skaters ! Upstairs has a children’s selection. Prices are high but they have periodic sales. Staff at this location are very helpful.
A warm and welcoming place. As someone new to the scene Uncle funky was able to recommend me a good size board while allowing me to try other pre-built options, it was great to feel around and see what felt most comfortable. Afterwards I got some free stickers and pet their cute dog! Definitely recommend for anyone new or experienced, I can't wait to come back for upgrades.
Rude, unhelpful and they lied about their return policy. I purchased a pair for wheels on Monday that I realized when I got home did not fit. When I came back the next day to return them the manager a male named Ira or Ian told me they don’t take returns on hard items. However the return policy and signage all over the store doesn’t state that. Just that I need the receipt and original packaging which I had. He got an attitude when I asked to show me where in the policy it state that. He refused to show me shrugged his shoulders and said it’s just the policy.
I can’t recommend this location or this company to anyone. I had to call corporate and ship everything back for a refund. Stay away from this location and if you have to go to a Zumiez visit the 34th location. The staff at 14th street was rude and lied about their return policy that clearly stated I had every right to return my wheels. Bad business and horrible customer service from the top down.
Five Stride Skate Shop and local shops are better to support. Not worth investing in a large brand if their customer service lies and can’t produce any literature that states what you can and can’t return.

My favorite skateshop so far. It's messy but that's what makes this shop's charm. The staff is really nice and there's a lot of choices.
They have A LOT of beanies and belts, which is rare (from my experience only).

I love the name
It was chill. I was helped right away with a pair of kicks I wanted. One minor mistake that could’ve been a major mistake. 7/6/22 6pm-7pm I was next waiting in line for the cashier to ring up the customer in front of me. Manager had helped another customer with a lot of product and brought up the items to ring next. Being that I was surely next I placed my item first. They politely rang me up and I thanked the customer and said NOW you’re next. The manager saw a deal and didn’t want to let it go. I could’ve been corporate. I could have flocks of people come in just to this store. I don’t think I want to do that now. Thank you to the girl on the ladder that helped me, she was sweet.
This store is freaking awesome. The clothes are cool and the people working there are very nice!
Best skateboard brand in the world
FA is so close to Tompkins Square park. There is some sick things to skate in the park. The green curve bench from ca is there. That bench alone is a landmark. The best thing about FA is the guys that work in there are super humble and really nice. Their vibe was inviting and you can get anything you need there. Boards, wheels, trucks, shoes, and clothes. It’s worth a stop and supporting a core brand.
Cool selection and very cool people and helpful they try to help me found out what I need and suggest things I might be interested in without been pushy

I walked into this Zumiez today wanting to return a couple items I bought online, and to exchange a killer Naruto t-shirt I purchased for one in a larger size.
I walked out feeling not only satisfied, but also like I made new friends with the staff after such a smooth exchange process. I got some new drip too, which an employee helped me pick out.
I would work at this Zumiez—its atmosphere was quite wavy.

Cashier/Owner (Jeff) was very nice, helpful, and accommodating for a novice longboarder. Chill and clean store. Definitely recommend; would shop again.
