The worst Dr surgery with incompetent receptionists who lack basic English. One in particular cannot understand what a catheter is! Makes me wonder where they find them!

I have been with Ridgeacre for 6 years and have recently relocated out of the city and left. But they deserve a 5 star review from me. I know practices are under pressure but they have always been great at getting me in for appointments or atleast offering a phone call. They've also been great throughout my pregnancy and with my little boy. The doctors listen and follow up. I'm really sad to leave this practice and I would definitely recommend them .

Unfortunately this is the worst GP surgery I have ever been registered with.
Since COVID, they have introduced a new appointment system designed to cut phone queueing and presumably make appointments more accessible, or based on priority.
The problem with this is that you have to wait up to 2 working days for your appointment request to be acknowledged, and even then it is almost impossible to get an appointment.
They expect you to wait 2 weeks for even so much as a telephone appointment. It is just not good enough.
A friend of mine has received alarming blood test results, and is being told that nobody is available to call her to discuss this for the next 2 weeks.
Please follow your patients best interests and return to same day appointments. I’m sure that people would rather wait in a long phone queue to be seen the same day rather than have to wait two weeks and use an online service. Who is deciding what should be prioritised based on the details disclosed in the appointment requests?

I was attended by Dr Locum and she is such an amazing nurse . Her services are excellent and she has a very kind heart. Her smile and engagement makes you feel cared for and makes you feel better . My experience with her today is beyond what words can describe. She is just amazing .Keep up the good work Dr Locum.

The receptionist and Dr Taj are very helpful, patient and understanding. They went out of their way to assure my medical needs was met to the best standard and made me feel so comfortable. Great listing and full understanding once I was able to see my Doctor, if only one of the clerks would show similar respect and patience. People are constantly asked and informed to be polite but there are occasions when the same courtesy is not forthcoming in the opposite direction. Dr Taj works both for you and with you which is very refreshing. I'm 58 years of age and could be his father but he still manages to speak to me on a level, I couldn't be more happy with him and would approve him to anybody likewise with Dr Khan and Dr Konrad

I went this morning and I was well looked after .Dr Anita has got me. An xray blood tests and more .I cannot thank her enough.really feel somethings being done . Thank you I'm sure Dr Anita is going to be very good for church Lane surgery. Try to get an appointment! I dare you. Impossible. I feel as though they are deliberately making it as difficult as possible. Used to be straightforward through the app, then that stopped, now triage, who is reading the info you send? How safe is it? Since covid the surgery is typical of the contempt patients seem to.be held in by the NHS

I phoned on Tuesday morning was asked to call back at 1pm for Doctor phone call appointment, DR Khan phoned me within an hour and an appointment was made to visit the surgery the following afternoon which I did, a full examination was carried out and a blood sample taken and a new prescription issued to my choice of chemist. I had to see a GP urgently last week, I had an on the day appointment booked, i received the care I needed and also was able to sign up to the nhs online app.

I had occasion to use the new triage system again today; even better than the first time I used it. I was phoned back within half an hour of posting my message, and was given the option of face to face or phone call; I selected the latter. The doctor phoned after a couple of hours, we discussed my symptoms, and he confirmed my suspicion that it was a flu virus, almost certainly one that developed too late to be included in the vaccination. A fantastic service, and I am 73 so not a youngster addicted to my mobile! Easy to use, you have time to think about the symptoms and include them all, and it must make life easier for the doctors.

This surgery is a disgrace. They keep taking on patients and they don't have enough doctors. I suffer from mental health problems and my prescription was supposed to be sent to my chemist a week ago. I've had no medication for over a week and I'm on the verge of suicide!!! I have been ringing this awful surgery for 2 days and been 4 in the queue for for 20 minutes. What on earth number 5 has been on about, life story probably. I am changing to a competent surgery after 25 years. Its all about money with this surgery and not about the patients. Absolutely disgusting. They must delete all the bad reviews, typical. It seems like they care more about the new patients and sod the old ones. I'm done with them and I'll be over there tomorrow for a printout of my history to take to my new surgery. Shouldn't take on more than you can handle. All these new patients oh how happy they get treated more than the US who have been with them since it was an old dilapidated house. Oh and finally do not blame it on old people living longer, it's more down to illegal migrants, I've watched West Heath go down in the last few years. And 5 will get you 10 this review will get deleted.

I have been with this GP for about 3 years. Always get back to me very quickly. Using the online system is very quick and I get a response the same day. They swiftly arranged scans and referral to secondary care. Would recommend to friends and family.

Attended surgery today for appointment with Dr Nwar. She was very attentive, professional & thorough. I also saw Andrea for a blood test, she was very helpful & professional too. I must add that Mark who manages reception does a marvellous job he cannot do enough for his patients.

Managed to get through for a telephone consultation today, which I know can prove difficult at times. Spoke with dr Kuruan. She listened to me and dealt with my problem in a very calming and helpful manner. There can be lots of negativity around drs at the moment but credit where it is due, very happy with the service and the treatment I received today ♥️

Terrible staff - need military training on communication. When calling the number -no one will answer, if they do, theyll make sure you feel worse after the call than you did before

Honestly I’m so surprised I’m a new patient this GP surgery is absolutely amazing lovely reception staff one on particular I didn’t get her name but she was soooo nice and made me smile and was just so kind. I had seen a nurse today for my first patient appointment and she was so understanding and I asked for some advice in which she gave really good advice honestly amazing GP surgery and definitely recommend

If I could give 0 I would. Been here for 17 years, drs khan, durston, sherlaw and redette were amazing years ago would have rated 5/5 all the way, over the years just slipped. Now only dr khan left. Ring at 8am as told to be so far in the que is too hard to believe, get told no appointments to ring emergency at 2pm, ring bang on 2pm no emergency appointments. The receptionist are the most awful, disrespectful, unprofessional people I’ve ever spoken to, years ago would be such lovely people now just rudeness, when you try to request a certain dr they override you, when try to explain need to see a certain doctor as been told to ring back and ask for that doctor they just put the phone down. Then when you finally do get a doctors appointment, it’s rushed, told can only speak about 1 issue, well if can can more than 1 appointment in 6-8 weeks would only be 1 issue to discuss, or if need antibiotics get told call back in few days if still the same then will give antibiotics, they want you on deaths door before they want to make you feel better. To top it off always having to chase things, example referrals or repeat prescriptions, every month there’s always an issue with repeats, they’ve lost it, or back log even though say 48hrs 4 days later still nothing, the amount of time ran out of medication because of the issues. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Used to be amazing but unfortunately not worth your time or effort

Each Gp I have seen since being with this surgery are very thorough and ensure they follow you up. I have not ever had to chase tests results.
Overall I rate it at a 5 as I have had the best care and treatment with this surgery.

I’ve been at this gp surgery all my life along with my parents and so on. I was moving house slightly out of the catchment area whilst at the end of my pregnancy. I have pleaded with this practice to let me continue there as they have helped me through a lot of significant stages of my life and I cannot find another surgery as good in my area. I have explained the circumstances of why I want to come back but it is a simple "unfortunately you're outside the catchment area". I believe decisions should be made that are in the best interests of the patient, which they are not. If someone has stayed with the same gp all their life, are happy there and are not comfortable with changing practice then I believe they should be allowed to stay instead of being forced to find elsewhere. No duty of care at all. Really disappointing.

Great service. Came to have contraceptive implant fitted. Lady who did it was so friendly and really put me at ease. They were also understanding as I arrived a little late due to car trouble. I would definitely recommend using them for this service in future. Booking in was no issue either, very happy with today's visit.

I emailed Sunday night. I had a call Mon lunch time and was given a choice of appointments that day! The doctor, as usual, was efficient, friendly, helpful and responsive to my concerns. I've got my x-ray today. On this occasion my treatment has been excellent just as it used to be at this practice pre COVID.

Fantastic surgery. Efficient and extremely helpful. As a new patient everything has been seamless. On occasions when I have needed to see a doctor quickly, the reception staff have been helpful and understanding and helped me get an appointment promptly for that day. Dr Shah has been wonderful over the past few weeks with support for ongoing health issues. Thankyou so much 😊

This Gp is not fit for purpose as I haven’t seen my doctor for over 2 years as no appointment it can be booked because we not allowed to walk in and book an appointment and the phone never been answered on time, only when the receptionist it will say there’s no appointment left.
Doctors are great people but booking a doctor appointment is really hard and might be a mission impossible!

The reason I'm giving this a 1 star is because of the same reason everyone else is giving. I can't get an appointment and my mental health is really taking a toll. This place is supposed to be my GP practice and I can't even get an appointment with them... It's really horrible and I have a problem with calling up places and the fact that I can hardly get the motivation to go up to the practice is a toll on it's own. I have tried to call up various times when my health was taking a big decline and I just got the same thing "We are fully booked, call back tomorrow at 8am". I hardly had the courage to call up in the first place and they expect I can do it again the next day? By that point I've already handled my mental health issue in a not so great way. I just want some help and I can't seem to get it at all.... I hope that one day they'll take appointments more seriously and help those in need, instead of sacking it off everytime someone calls or goes in-person and actually help them, it might even save someone's life... Cus this is the worst experience of a doctor's practice that I've experienced... All i want is to get help... God bless anyone who reads this and I hope you get the help you want/need.

Me and my family have been attending this surgery for a little over a year, and couldn't be happier it! It's easy to get an appointment, we never wait long when we arrive, and the staff are all marvelous. I'm so happy we chose this surgery.

Wow! What an absolute delight 😊 So helpful and able. As a new patient they helped me with a repeat prescription even though my notes were still in transition. So happy. The G.P even called me into his surgery asked me what medication I needed and simply printed it out and then. Welcomed me to the practice. Thank you West Heath x

I rang the surgery today at 8.45am got through after couple of ring's and they ask me couple of questions regarding my personal details and what reason was I was ringing. I requested if the Doctor could ring me back, after couple of hours the Doctor rang me back and after our medical telephone conversation the Doctor described the medications. I can honestly say from the beginning to the end our telephone conversation with the receptionist & Doctor I feel I had a very positive and caring experience which made me very comfortable.

Dr Khan is brilliant, always sorted the issue out but to get the appointment it's such a difficult I would die quicker probably. Reception staff is horrible with no respect, don't listen to issue, keep lying constantly, cut me off twice ! If you have issue is the best to speak with Manger Sandra who is really heplpfull.

Absolutely disgusting service. The Pakistani receptionists are rude and interrupt you then tell you to calm down. They haven’t got half a brain cell between them and can’t understand a simple issue. You’ll wait for over an hour just to be spoken to by someone who doesn’t understand basic English. This surgery is the biggest joke. Once you see a doctor they’re decent but booking an appointment with the idiot Asian reception staff is not worth the hassle!

This practice has gone from the best to the worst. Trying to get an appointment here is a waste of time, it would be easier to see God. That might be the case if I have to rely on these. I rang this morning at spot on 8am "practice is closed" I rang off and immediately rang back, "we are experiencing high volumes of call at the moment ring back later" and cut off. Well I have been ringing back, ring off, ring back continually for the past hour and a half with same message. When you get through you have no chance of an appointment even a call back. "Ring after 2pm, just to go through the same procedure. 38 Years with them means nothing. What a disgraceful procedure this is. Will be writing a letter of complaint, not that it will do any good.

I was reffered to this medical centre for an IUD and dealt with DR. Zinab Nazif. I just want to say that she is an amazing woman, very personable and went through every step with me thoroughly. Perfect, my only concern is the parking on a Wednesday. The car park shuts for children to learn bike riding on. This is a good thing.. but bad if you are trying to get into the surgery and can't walk much.

I recently had the privilege of being under the care of Dr. Arif and Dr Zafar I am compelled to express my utmost gratitude for the outstanding service and clinical expertise I received. Drs Arif and Zafar are true exemplar of professionalism and a testament to the highest standards of patient care.

Best practice ever been with them 45 years although a lot have retired Dr kurian and Dr ravi are my favourite so kind compassionate and caring they really are amazing I have suffered long term anxiety and depression and they are so good highly recommend

Visited under the Umbrella Clinic. Dr Nazif was a delight! So personable and caring. She was so quick and I was assured during every step. She restored my faith in the medical profession. I hope there are more like her because every woman deserves this level of care from the NHS. I've never left an appointment smiling before, thank you Dr Nazif.

Doctor does not give you comfort zone to express what we are feeling and its very hard to explain on call (Not willing to meet in person). Worst experience

I have had nothing but positive experiences. Doctors seem very thorough with their investigations and as a new patient, I was told that I could not have HRT until literally everything was checked with a blood test. I can understand the rationale of doing this to ensure a correct diagnosis, but glad to have the medication back as I feel so much better! I always got an appointment by phone or in person with the nurse, who were always polite and respectful. It just makes a refreshing change from having to wait 6 weeks for an appointment with my last surgery.

Never got a gp appointment. They say its full every time.I have been holding phone for 2 hours like from 8 a.m. only to hear there is no gp appointment. They say book from the app .at 8 in the evening.but the fact that when you go on app they never have appointments.

Saw Dr Mudassir Majid for the first time. Very disappointed. I found him to be very dismissive and hostile with poor interpersonal skills. Soon as he called me from the doors (to appointment rooms) I just knew... Will not see him again and would refuse to do so. Wanted to see Dr Kurian or Bhatti but unavailable. The latter I have found to be excellent. I regret I have had to write this and about the Practice I have gone to for 25+ years.

We took time before deciding which surgery to join after an incident that occurred at the GP surgery I was registered with previously. I know that the NHS is under a lot of pressure at the moment but I have been amazed at the service we have received since registering with West Health Medical Centre. The reception staff have been so helpful and polite every time I've made contact on the phone and also when I've visited. The nurses and doctors that we have seen to date have also been brilliant!! We have felt listened to and supported. Many difficulties myself and my children have been having for some time have quickly been resolved since registering here because time was taken to listen and understand. Referrals and tests that have taken place have always been followed up on. It's a huge contrast to how we were treated previously at our previous surgery where no one listened and mistakes were made. I am grateful for the help and support we've had to date because life has improved.

Its ludicrous that numerous patients are forced to stand in a tiny reception area trying to avoid being hit by an automatic door which is constantly opening and closing. There are three reception windows, why use the one with smallest waiting area where waiting patients are blocking access through the main door? Today there were six people in the space plus two aged people with walking frames trying to get through. Last time there was a double buggy abandoned there plus about eight people. Common sense suggests using the other reception windows where patients will have room to stand while waiting to speak to the receptionist. The manager and receptionists should try standing there for 10 minutes, then they might understand the problem.
Update. Repeat prescription problem for tablets I'm supposed to take daily and had run out. The pharmacist sent me to the receptionist, the receptionist insisted I needed a medication review which could only happen five days later. The practice pharmacist didn't know why this was needed as the repeat prescription was already set up. Impossible to have a conversation as there was a two second echo on the phone where whatever you said repeated back through your phone making it impossible to concentrate. Shambles.
Still pointlessly queuing in the tiny entrance keeping the other reception windows closed. The door which constantly opens and closed often refuses to open when you try to leave.

Called on the Monday the 15th to get a jab and was told I get said jab on the 24th of may. No issues.
Get a call today, saying appointment cancelled due it not being booked Through a doctor as they have no background of me needing said jab. If this is the case this should be explained when making the appointment! I’ve booked a day off for work thinking I had jab and the surgery had only given a days noticed.
This is a massive inconvenience, also trying to get a hold of anyone to make a doctors appointment is hard enough.

This surgery seriously needs shutting down, never known anything like it. If I hadn't moved my 80 year old mother from here, she wouldn't be with us now. Due to their negligence and inability to see my mum face to face, my mum ended up in hospital with pneumonia and heart problems. They refused to give my mum any help after I explained time and time again my mum was eating very little and what she was eating, she wasn't keeping down. This resulted in my mum becoming very frail and weak and she had to have a blood transfusion as well as 2 iron infusions whilst in hospital. She was in for 9 days. My parents are now at a new surgery where there is care and respect for their patients. This surgery is an absolute disgrace run by clowns. I've had to give one star as there was no option to give zero.

Absolutely agree with everyone. Had to leave this practice because they would never give you an appointment and not even on your death bed! Receptionist are lazy and rude with clearly no manners look down on you like your rubbish. What’s the point joining a practice if you can’t ever get an appointment? Useless.

Not a good place to go lady doctor avoids giving medicine. They dont treat you well they want you do suffer. Poor service. Mostly they are sleeping.

Wouldn't even give 1 star but had to to leave review This surgery is a serious joke took from Feb til late April to accept my application called me for a new patient appointment and surgery was closed when attended (pic below) everytime you call even if when opens at 8am you are over 30 in a queue and will wait around 3 hours to have call answered what a waste of time even being open.

Wouldn’t even give this place 1 star but I had to to leave a review. Was told I had a telephone appointment at 4pm, they called me at 10am. Called back once I saw the missed call at 1pm. Stayed on hold until 6pm when I was finally at the top of the call queue. The useless person that answered my call hung up as soon as they answered. I am registering to a new surgery after this experience because this surgery will happily watch you deteriorate and die. What is the point of them if they’re not going to help anyone? Judging from other reviews, I definitely made a bad decision registering in the first place with them. If you love your life, you’ll find a new gp surgery.

Worst doctors I’ve ever signed up with, can barely get an appointment and they refuse to be honest and say that the appointment is not guaranteed if you call at 8am, you’ll wait for ages on the phone just for them to answer and say there’s no appointments, on top of that when the problems start piling up you can only get two of the problems sorted at a time, and have to try to get another appointment again, bare in mind it’s hard to get ONE appointment. Absolute joke

Wonderful service today. Called in the morning, a really polite receptionist took my call with no waiting. Medical issue dealt with by Dr Saigol on the day with a referral processed quickly. Efficient Polite and available. Could not ask for more during challenging times!

Had an unpleasant experience recently where I had to call the surgery and had a phone appointment.
The doctor seemed uninterested in what I was calling about and seemed to be in a hurry.
Doctors need to be patient and sympathetic to their patients.

Receptionist are liars and incompetent. Dr Amir is arrogant and has no time to listen to patients. Phone service is a joke. I've seen them ignore ringing phones and then be short at the callers when they eventually answer. Send you around in circles chasing your own tail. Can't wait to transfer elsewhere

This is a brilliant surgery. They are professional, dedicated and extremely kind. They will always go the extra mile to cater for your needs. I've never struggled to get an appointment here, even during COVID and I've always been treated with respect. Their staff are very courteous and knowledgeable and the medical team is superb. All in all, I've always felt valuable as a patient here. Thank you Heartlands Surgery.

This GP practice is very bad service. When calling for an appointment you hardly get through as the automated service keeps saying "fully booked". The reception staff are extremely rude and treat patients like second class citizens. I wanted to make a private appointment with a female doctor for my daughter but was asked what's the problem hence I replied "if I told you it won't be private" and top of that she said they don't have female doctor and when I asked her is Dr Sangeeta male or female she replied female.... the reception staff are taking the practice down

I have always had an Excellent Service at Birmingham Heartlands Surgery, and I must emphasise the word, 'Service', because nothing is too much trouble whenever i have had the need to contact them. The receptionists are always very welcoming and both the nurses and doctors have given me every help and service with my particular health issues. I can't Speak highly enough of the service that they give the community.

Reception staff was really helpful. She helped me to set up online app to book appointment with doctors and nurses. Now I can book appointment of my choice on same day or mostly within couple of days. I can see significant improvement in the last one year. Congratulation to you all and thanks for providing such a wonderful service.

The worst GP Surgery ever, the receptionist Ram is the most rude and unreasonable person I have come across. She doesn't know what she is doing and I called to book an appointment from a minute to 3pm, I was number 3 in the queue however it took over 20 minutes for them to connect me. Eventually she answered and acted like an appointment was available, then as soon as she took my details she chose to tell me there
was no appointment available. Horrible service and the staff need training on being empathy

Terrible rude attitude towards their patients. No respect or politeness whatsoever, raising voice at a patient that's tired of being prescribed paracetamol shouldn't be an option for a doctor.
They need to learn to listen and show kindness to all those people that go there because they need them.
