I cannot express how much we appreciate everyone at Hazelton Place. Ron and Leslie go above and beyond. The biggest complaint at retirement homes is always the food however the food at Hazelton place is like eating at 5 star restaurant. All the staff are wonderful and caring. Couldn’t ask for a better place to live. Highly recommend!

After spending the last few months deciding on a place for my parents I have decided on Hazelton Place. Thank you to the administrator Ron and the staff for making my parents so happy and welcomed. They feel like they are living in a 5 star resort.

It was a big change for us as my husband and I moved to Hazelton Place from Montreal to be closer to our family.
Our suite is just beautiful as we brought our own furniture which made it very homely.
The staff are very accommodating and helpful. The food is very good, the chef trying to accommodate to the needs of the many food demands. I would definitely recommend Hazelton Place to others who are looking for retirement homes.

Hazelton Place was my Mothers home for almost four years. She lived on the second floor becaue she needed the extra care that this assisted living floor offered. My Mother's needs were physical, her cognition was excellent. I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we have had connected to all aspects of Hazelton Place. The facilities, that staff, the physical spaces, programming and food were all five star. The staff were incredibly responsive to our family and my Mother. They were quick to respond to any questions we had or things we needed help with. Everyone was always very friendly, polite and so so kind. Leslie, Mary, Harland, Daniel, Mimi, Carly and Ron - the office team, went out of their way to ask about my Mom when they saw me and quietly did extra little things for her to give her a little boost. I will end with a couple of sentences about the house doctor, nurses and psw care my Mom recieved while at Hazelton. This team worked together like a well oiled professional machine with a giant shared heart, caring for my Mother with love, expertiese, patiance and gentle calm day after day. They took care of her - and really as a result, took care of me. They listened to her, explained things to her, then did the same for me. Thank you to Dr. Baker, every nurse on the team, every PSW, every cleaner and every dining room server. Every one was kind to my Mother. They got her to the exercise classes and the brain quiz sessions, even though she never wanted to go, because they knew she always enjoyed it once she was there. This was not easy, but they cared and were comitted to her. Thank you Harland and Danial! We were always in close touch and I was always struck by how much they knew about my Mother and how much love they had to give. I have nothing but glowing reports for all aspects of our experience at Hazelton.

It's a beautiful retirement home

Best you can ever find.

My story begins with panic I had one month to move my 94 year old mom to a retirement home close to me at Yonge and Eglinton I phoned every one in the area the only one that understood my pain was Jared Marketing manager at the Briton House immediately we had a meeting the care and compassion was outstanding I signed on the dotted line he and his staff had a beautiful suite ready for mom just a few other names that should be mentioned Clara organized the move Lordus the nurse manager looked after mom on the first day with a fabulous nurse Rose also the food is excellent the serving staff are excellent there are others but I am running of of room but one note the other retirement home did call two weeks later there first question was how much money i had to spend wrong question please be aware finally my mom is so happy thanks to everyone at the Briton House

Jared is a fantastic person of contact, thoughtful, generous and caring. The staff are professional, the premises relaxing and high end. The community solid and helpfull. Great location. A 10 rating in all all aspects !!

I cannot speak highly enough about my experience with the team at Hazelton Place. The professionalism, kindness and compassion we were shown during our first tour and follow-up calls as we waited for placement for an ageing parent was greatly appreciated. Leslie took the time to get to know us and understand what we were looking for in a retirement residence and she made us feel like family. Hazelton Place is centrally located, each room in the common areas is beautifully appointed and they offer a wide range of activities and services. We were very impressed.

I researched many retirement homes in Toronto, and Briton House stood out for many reasons. Family owned and operated, an excellent reputation, positive referrals and reasonable pricing put Briton House on the short list. It was quick and easy to book a tour and we were impressed with the comfortable hotel-like atmosphere, relaxing atrium and amenities. Once my loved one moved in, the caring and competent staff provided an environment where she was able to enjoy regular meals, be supported with personal care and flourish, becoming the happy, social person she was before being diagnosed with dementia. You can trust that residents are well cared for, safe and living their best life.

I had the pleasure of attending the Hazelton International Fare Open house event last Saturday.
This retirement residence is truly impressive!
Spotlessly clean and modern.
The staff are clearly handpicked and extremely warm, sincere and dedicated.
The food was first-rate. Compliments to the Executive Chef and the entire foodservice staff. Very impressive!

My mother stayed at the Dunfield on the Assisted Living Floor from mid Jan - early April 2012. We discovered that the staff left her alone, fallen on the floor of her room for 4 hours before anyone noticed. Our private caregiver found her. My mother was also placed in a right side accessible unit when she was had right side neglect from a stroke. Which means, she needed a left side accessible unit. Add to this situation, my mother was asked to leave the dining room b/c the residents were complaining that she needed help with eating. ( as in, they did not want her caregiver to help her….) So…flash forward to Tuesday June 20th. My husband sits on a bench on the lawn outside the building to read his emails on his phone during his lunch break. He works on Eglinton Ave. A few minutes later, staff member came out and told him to leave as “the residents were complaining.” Colonialism is not dead in this place. I am disgusted to learn that nothing has changed. Do not send your family members here. its costs the same to hire privately and keep your loved one at home. Don’t let the fancy chandeliers and grand piano persuade you.

Such a beautiful facility. From the interior design to its service. The entrance is grand and sofisticated. Looks like a hotel lobby. The staff are nice and welcoming. There are pay parking by the streets. Right at the corner of Yonge and Dunfield. Walking distance to everything and transportation is so convenient too.

I have had the pleasure of working at Hazelton Place for the past few years and I can confidently say that it is a wonderful place for seniors to call home. The staff is dedicated and compassionate, always going above and beyond to ensure the residents are happy and comfortable. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and there are a variety of activities and events offered to keep the residents engaged and active. The food is delicious and always made with fresh ingredients. Overall, I highly recommend Hazelton to anyone looking for a high-quality living experience for their loved ones.

My parents moved into Hazelton Place in December 2022, and they both think it's terrific. They love the food. The dining room is exquisite. The staff are conscientious and quite personable. Both my parents take daily exercise classes, which is a first for my dad. The amenities are ample, and the variety of the daily programming is superb. There's a lot to do, and spacious rooms to do it in. Also, the residents are friendly and accomplished. It's easy to make new friends. All things considered, Hazelton Place is a winner.

My mom has been here 3 plus years and I can tell you with confidence that Belmont House is the best Retirement and long term care home available in Toronto. The waiting list is 6 years for a reason and that time frame keeps growing. The staff is wonderful and many activities are offered daily. It's almost like an all inclusive 5 star hotel for the elderly. The people you find here have all done great things for Canada in their youth. I am proud to belong to this community. ❤️

My 85 year old Father moved into the Dunfield Residence November 2021. This was a very stressful time for him as he was leaving a toxic relationship and sadly leaving behind his beloved rescue animals. Catherine and the staff at the Dunfield made his transition incredibly smooth and positive. Since he has been at the Dunfield he has literally thrived. He has not been this happy or healthy for years! It took a little time but now he is participating in exercise and activities virtually everyday. He told me recently that this was the best thing he could have done. He loves all of the staff and they treat him with such respect and kindness. Many of the other residence have reached out to him for lunch and dinner dates. I cannot say enough positive things about the Dunfield, it should be on top of your list if you are looking for an excellent living situation for yourself or your loved ones. ps he has since rescued a senior cat which is also allowed at his new lovely home!

My father has been living at the Dunfield Retirement Residence for a few years and we have been extremely pleased with the residence in all aspects of the building, facilities, staff, restaurant and administration. The general manager, James, is consistently supportive and helpful, doing whatever he can to meet our needs and address our questions/requests. The staff is friendly, inviting and helpful. We feel that our father is in excellent hands at the Dunfield and would recommend this residence to anyone looking for a place for their loved one.

The Dunfield cares so much about mom and about all of us. The people are wonderful, the management, the office staff, the PSW's, the nurses, the serving staff at the restaurants and the cleaners and maintenance teams. EVERYONE treats mom and us like family. They care about tiny needs and major things. It is always clean and safe and so family friendly. It is an incredible location, a wonderful environment and a very special place to spend time. AND, the food is great in the restaurants. Worth the investment for a very happy and loving residence for mom and for our family time when we visit.

My parents moved to the Dunfield 7 years ago. It has been their home where they have welcomed family and friends and celebrated many special occasions. The dining room quickly became our family's favourite gathering place. Sadly, our father died this past winter at the Dunfield of old age (91). With Ontario public health's Covid-19 restrictions in place, this was an extraordinarily challenging time but I want to thank the ENTIRE Dunfield staff for their tireless efforts, their remarkable care and kindness in helping my parents and family navigate the necessary lockdowns and restricted visitor policies. On a brighter note, for 6 years our family gatherings in the dining room were numerous and it is very nice that a few of us can once again gather and enjoy a meal with our mom in the Alcove. Mom has good friends at the Dunfield, a testament to her but also the other wonderful residents who help make the Dunfield a warm, friendly, caring and special place to live.

It’s a well known secret that Belmont House is the best of the best in Ontario. The facility has elite accreditations with a highly skilled and compassionate management team.

These people are absolutely the worst kind of individuals hottest day of the year I looked it the driveway I saw an ice cream truck went to buy my boss and I a well earned ice cream only to have a staff member say no I couldn't...... unbelievably why no comparison r sure don't send your loved one to this place. They are very discriminate of others there was no one in line it wouldn't have inconvenienced anyone in the slightest. Absolutely one of the most brutal experiences of my life I m in total shock

My Dad has been living at Briton House since October of 2019. Prior to the pandemic, Dad loved the daily exercise classes, music concerts and socialising over meals in the dining room. Briton House acted quickly and proactively getting PPE early on, to protect staff and residents. Their frequent and regular updates for family of residents, have been helpful, comforting and appreciated. Briton House is one of the first, if not the first, long term care facility to have all staff and residents vaccinnated! An amazing accomplishment! Although we have missed, in person visits, I know staff are working hard to return to, some normalcy for their residents. I have every confidence, their knowledge and skill, attention to detail and care will make this happen.

Perfect retirement home and nursing home well maintained

I had the pleasure of holding a Studio Recital for my private violin and vocal students at the Briton House Recital Hall. The Recital Hall is a hidden gem! It has wonderful acoustics, a baby grand piano, concert lighting, an in-house sound system, and wonderful theater style seating.
The Briton House Staff were very attentive in helping to make sure that all my logistical needs were met; and the residents were a lovely and receptive audience.
My students are still talking about how much fun they had performing at the Briton House!

The Briton house is an excellent retirement home. The food is very good, lots of variety and made fresh every day. A wonderful dining experience. The staff are helpful and always smiling. Rooms are clean. Residents who need help to get up and dressed are given excellent care. There is always something to do. The programs are a variety of monthly outings, and in-house events such as movie nights, pet visits, card games, birthday social and music recitals. Programs are also tailored to the needs of the residents. Mother's day and Father's day brunches were unique in presentation, variety of foods and abundance. There is an indoor salt water pool, great for water walking programs. There is an exercise room with a lot of equipment. They have a beautiful Atrium decorated with an assortment of plants and trees. It is very relaxing to sit with your loved ones and socialize. They have a Briton House news letter which keeps you informed of events and thought for the day. You also get to read about the residents who are new to the home. Many thanks for a wonderful experience. Kudos to the Briton House family and staff.

My father and mother have been staying at the Dunfield for years. It’s definitely one of the best retirement homes in the city. Beautiful Dining room for get togethers with the entire family. If you can stay there you will love it.

I worked in this kitchen for a temp gig. Chef mark and the team do a great job and run a tight ship serving the large volume of residents here, catering to each dietary need with special attention. The front of house staff were also great to work with and pleasant to the residents.

As a local Toronto Realtor who often works with seniors, I have experienced many retirement/senior care facilities across the GTA. The Briton House has been an almost weekly destination for me over the past 25 years and I have personally experienced all the facility has to offer.
This is a first class organization with the unique benefit of being owned and operated by a caring family personally dedicated to the well being of all who reside there. The administration, staff, medical care, building amenities and maintenance are second to none.
Without hesitation, the Briton House has always been, and remains, my first choice of recommendation to anyone looking for the best in retirement/senior care living in downtown Toronto.

My mother lived there and I volunteered there. Not only is it the "seniors home of choice", it has received the ultimate official confirmation of being the best possible by official inspections resulting in it being accredited "in exemplary standing". Anyone who retires there or who is a long-term patient there or who works or volunteers or visits there should consider themselves truly blessed.

Nice time

My sister and I are forever grateful that we found Briton House. When our mom developed dementia, we tried her in a couple of places with disastrous results because they didn't have the expertise or sensitivity to deal with her disease. From the moment she moved into Briton House, we could breathe again because everyone involved in her care knew exactly how to make her feel safe and loved and content. The daily activities were creatively geared for the diminishing mind, and there was always lots of laughter. When we wanted to give Mom a change of scenery, we had options to go to in the building: a lovely leafy atrium, where we could have tea, a "beach" room, with the soothing sound of the ocean, and an outdoor patio, with gardens, trees and sky. Finally, Mom loved her room: it was just big enough for us to make it comfy and cosy, but not so big that she felt lost. It was such a relief to know she was comfortable, surrounded by people who genuinely cared for her and looked after her so well. So it went for five years, until Mom died a few months ago in just the way we wished for her -- at peace in her home sweet home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all our friends at Briton House.
