Wouldn’t recommend taking an apartment here, maintenance never fixes anything you can put countless amounts of tickets they seem to just ignore it and the problem continues.. also the apartments are small like really small, whatever you do when you decide to move here don’t mail your rent they will tell you they never got it, i can keep going but save your self
I enjoy traveling. It's good to explore new places.
Moving in was very easy I got a lease and a key without fuss. As a black con it's hard to find a submissive man to come home to. I love you Robert. Im home here now

Did anyone else got selected with this fraud of an development just to be informed by outside agency that because of LEAD no one can move into the apartments until the whole building gets fixed?
Management and all employees are aware of this, but choose to lie and take in people's applications anyway to help them stay in business.
And even after I was informed I will not be moving into East River Houses and everything was exposed, management and his employees refused to place my application back on the wait-list so that another NYCHA development can select me.
Here are some news articles that I found of other tenants at East River Houses who filed lawsuits due to unhealthy living conditions MOLD, NO HOT WATER, Severe LEAD POISONING.

The staff is rude and unprofessional and also gives a hard time. I have to call the boro office to get any type of assistance. Horrible do not move here.
We grew up in Wagner Projects and I and my brother had a wonderful great time, Momma and Daddy raised us right 👍👍👍,we had a lot of friends, when Momma passed away I went back to sit on the bench and looking at the 4th floor window I could hear her sewing machine and her Beautiful Sweet Voice 🌺🙏🙏🙏💯🎀

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. My housing assistant Ms.Johnson is horrible. Verbally abusive to tenants, inappropriate behavior such as intimidation, humiliation, degration, and failure to identify herself when asked. An investigation should be done at this office !
I was offered a lease and a key the moment I arrived. Lots of stroking and smoking. The drinks were a bit warm for my tastes. Keep em high and tight mommies.

This park has come a long way.. few years ago this park was a reck .. it wasn't a place for kids to go and play.. but.. now they did a awesome job. And is more active with positivity.. before then I say no one will chill there unless you was up to no good... Pretty good clean up. Pretty good come back..
Possibly the best place I stayed in while I was in New York. Robert was a wonderful and gracious host. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try it out.
Living in NYCHA (Wagner Housing) is like playing Russian roulette. You take your chances living in a urban environment many different families. The truth is you get what you pay for… Management isn’t any help improving the changes of what’s needed in the development. Everyone comes to work just to receive a pay check so they too can go back to living in the slums. It’s honestly not there fault by default… The development is truly urbanized, it’s a stepping stone for some but a way to live for many… Some… this is there only resource of a home and have left in white society hands is morally poor. Repairs needed , water isn’t always running. The main essential living here will be a tremendous problem …

This was a great return trip to visit family and friends back at Wilson projects. Love the neighborhood and the people one of the best places to grow up around.
Apartment 2C has a nonstop party going. There you will have frfee food, free rent as long as you entertain the host. Great place for a costume party. Be careful in the hallway. You get to eat a lot of carbs.
I just called and try to talk to somebody there and spoke to a girl name Erica and she advised that she could not give me any other information and also Kept interrupting me and didn’t let me finish during the phone call and then when I asked to speak to a supervisor she said she was on the supervisor there this company is very rude and it’s disgusting on how the people on the other side of the phone and talk to other people

The front of 1761 is disgusting it’s infested with rats and water bugs. The people assigned to clean the building never cleans the hallways doesn’t mop the stairs I literally have to mop the hallway myself it’s just really sad for the individuals like myself that actually pay full rent

The management is horrible! Looking at most of the reviews like what the he'll ya talking about!? This is a housing project that holds a couple thousand tenants. Management is rude probably more ghetto then some tenants. They take care of one side more then the other it's just ridiculous. I must say living here all my life it's never something to get use to! Your a product of your environment doesn't mean become a project of your environment. Be better.

Is incredible how the gov is. Right now the building I live on the hallways are full of crack users and this make my home smells like sht no agency on new york is dealing with this situation landlord say I can't do nothing police same and other agency same. Is like on your own. Dealing with this I am disable and I I use stairs when I am asking to this building to please remove me from this situation and no one lisent I am in terrible scare time for other who don't live here and come to this building trasspassin law is weak

The review was for THE HARLEM TAVERN not the TAFT HOUSES Houses.... I found it fun for a night's out. My gurl and I had a good time the atmosphere was great, fish tacos and fish and chips was on point, music was ok, drinks was nice. The only issue I had was while we was eating people came to visit another table with a big dog. The waitress was notified and we was moved to another table. The night was going great until that happened. I would have gave Harlem Tarven a 4* or even a 5. Maybe next time.
No the same I grew up here it has changed at lot.
Maintenance personnel are almost nonexistent but when they are, they do try. Taft management do try when it comes to handling paperwork but thats all I can pretty much say. Place is not an eyesore, but theres a lot of construction going on. Cant complain.

the amount of RATS in front of this building IS OUT OF CONTROL! coming in and out is like a nightmare! at night its INFESTED. 30 rats or more running around the walk way. ugh!

My parents were one of the first group of people who moved here back in 1962. And, it was good then. Today in 2020. The complex has become an eyesore that is a representation of the failure of NYCHA to maintain the status and standards of living that all Americans should expect.

They do not do that job ! They give you the run around . If you need key it takes them months to give you them . I repeat do not move there !!
I GREW UP IN TAFT FROM IT'S OPENING (1962 - 1978) UNTIL I MOVED. IT TRULY WAS A FAMILY AFFAIR. WE ALL KNEW, AND CARED FOR EACH OTHER. I LIVED THE LAST 4 YEARS IN 1365 5TH AVE, BEHIND THE FIRE DEPT IN THE SENIOR CITIZEN'S BUILDING. WHENEVER I RETURNED TO VISIT, I WOULD "ALWAYS" VISIT. FOND MEMORIES DURING MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS.
This is a New York City Housing Authority building complex. They sometimes try to keep the place clean. But the staircase has feces and they haven't cleaned it in a week. The tenants do complain. But it's obvious the building management is not checking up on there maintenance workers.
It's a good area to live its quick friendly clean sometimes dirty but the cleaning crew from Taft are real fast and clean everything up like it never happen nice area
the elevator has piss in it and sometimes doesn’t work. the stairs also have sticky stuff a lot of the time but i don’t know what it is. The entrance to the building, the door, is sometimes unlocked and locked and when it’s locked people just yank it open because lots of residents don’t have the key to it(if you wait a while somebody will come out and you can go in) the people are pretty nice overall. i mean i don’t talk to them but they mind their own business and don’t cause any trouble. sometimes people hang outside the entrance because they’re bored, usually old ladies. i see policemen in the entrance of the building sometimes but i haven’t heard of any murders or anything serious like that happening in the building. the room in my place is pretty spacious and life is good once you’re home. i don’t feel paranoid or sad or wanting to live in a different building. it’s alright, and i think it’s cheap too

Why have a affordable housing programs if it's not for people who can't afford it. I mean if we are working and have monthly income what's the big deal? I could've sworn that's why it's called "Affordable " housing...smh. not helping people like myself in need
