My husband and I have lived at The Saffron since it became available for purchase in 2009 due to its convenient location. One of the many great features we have appreciated about living here is how management and the neighbors who make up the Board are always willing to listen to residents suggestions. Everyone works together to ensure our experiences and quality of life are at the highest level.

Building residents have a great sense of community and are very helpful. The building board also holds open meetings for everyone to participate. A new management company has replaced Fields and it is active as well as responsive.

Great building in the heart of downtown Jersey City. Amenities include a gym and rooftop with grills. Very friendly neighbors, many of whom are longtime residents. Quick walk to Grove St. PATH, parks, library, groceries, plus restaurants and bars galore.

You will regret living here. There is no Super. We just have someone who calls other people to fix things. And those people are Amateurs.
Please give-and-take with a little free library in front of the community garden. Much appreciated.

Happy New Years 2023! Been a resident here since 2013 so this makes 10 years. Still love it here. Everything is in walking distance and no car is necessary. Excellent for students attending HCCC or St. Peters University. Ben the super is trustworthy and the best. Marieca at the rental office is a doll. 8 minute walk to Journal Square path. If you want quiet affordability diversity and conveinence this is the spot.
An excellent place to raise a family. The units are HUGE and the build quality is great. There is on-site parking for select units. The super, Jose, is awesome. I really enjoy living here!
Great management team and awesome board. Our president Jay has done a great job building a welcoming community.
Great location, near restaurants, shops and ps 16. spacious units, and no elevator wait time

A very accessible store located at Newark Av. In Jersey City
Pros:
-Good location if you don’t need to commute to Manhattan too often.
-amazing views of Manhattan
-several amenities including gym, pool, business lounge, barbecue stations etc.
-nice views
-24 hours concierge service. Really nice people at the front desk. Always happy to help
-covered parking included with most units

Cons:
-a bit stickler for rules that don’t really make sense especially during covid like not allowing guests to use any amenities even if they are staying with us. Infact they banned us from using gym for a month because I let my fiancé use it once.
-gym is very small and has just the bare minimum equipment; pool is also quite small.
-commute to path train is about ~10-12min walk, which can be a bit painful especially in the winter
-privately owned apartments so maintenance issues can vary for each resident.. the apartment I stayed in had not been renovated since the 50s probably. It had older look to it.
This is my favorite salon in Jersey City. This place is CLEAN, quiet and does an immaculate job EVERY TIME. I've come here for a number of services, from mani-pedi to massage to waxing. Everything is done well and the prices are great. It's best to book an appointment because they can get quite busy at times but this is definitely the place to go.

Ants in the spring, water damage in the floor boards and dry wall. Management was aware and never changed the floor boards. Weird problems like your front door wouldn’t close unless you muscled it and dishwasher would tip over if over stocked. Brand new building with so many issues.
I was there dropping something for one of the residents at this building and the doorman was helpless, how are you going to say you don't have a contact number for someone that lives there.... Isn't there a list of the residents and a contact for each apartment? What ever happened to a computer system or just a simple list in a notebook...
I am having good experience. Moved in to a renovated apartment with amazing flooring and paint job

I've revised my initial review to summarize my experience as a renter in a unit here over the past year.

1. The walls are thin. This fact impacts every aspect of living here. This coupled with the layout of the bedroom sharing the same wall as the neighboring unit's kitchen / living room makes this a nightmare all depending on your neighbor. Microwave door, drawers, cabinets - you hear it all. Unfortunately, I've had the pleasure of living next to someone with odd eating times (e.g. warms food using the microwave past 11 pm) and blatant disregard for sleeping hours (e.g. talks on the phone regularly past 11 pm). Good luck if you're an early riser and go to bed early.

2. Many families with young children live here. Nothing against them, but you are equally as invested because of the thin walls: this means crying, tantrums, screaming and you name it.

3. Building residents communicate through a google group e-mail chain. This is standard, yet still a personal annoyance because some folks lack e-mail and perhaps general etiquette. Covid-19 precautions have exacerbated this since residents communicate through passive aggressive e-mails rather than having a direct, in-person conversation by knocking on their door.

4. Poor building management. More specifically, this is a nod to the contacts at Fields Development Group. Their recent efforts working with contractors to make building upgrades have failed. Units are still without working entrance door control pads for more than half a year now. Furthermore, there is clearly a communication gap because e-mails imploring for more information or clarification are ignored and left without replies.

My advice is to look elsewhere to rent or buy.
Great views of the city. Ideally located and close to amenities
Don’t like the flooring patterns and the cheap finish they have used in the flats!
Great place to live in New Jersey facing water
Nice community to live. But not as good as other living community nearby like Marbella, Mandalay etc. Gym and kid's room are very small. Swimming pool is also not big enough.
Bummer facility-concierge won’t allow furniture to be moved out of apartment after 5 pm on weekdays. Came here to buy used furniture but had to disassemble it and then carry it out piece by piece. Thankfully seller helped bring pieces down to car parked on street
Good place for residential area
Lovely
