I have no complaints about this particular store, however, I don't think I've ever seen a e-commerce so bad as Indigo's. The website simply doesn't work. I've added the products to my bag and when I'm at the address part, it says "Sorry, we are unable to retrieve the fulfillment details ofr your cart at this time". And this is not the first time that I see it happens. Almost giving up.
Fun to check out and get some official swag.
Veuillant encourager l'économie locale, je me suis déplacé ... inutilement. Personne ne répond au téléphone non plus.

Really good place for books (of course) as well as stationery and house items. Good quality and often have a sale rack which is nice considering how expensive books are these days. Store is well kept, and staff are kind and helpful.
Great shop, reasonable prices, however the textbooks go out of stock quite fast, and i can no longer get physical copies of my textbooks.
Great business for English and all Québecers. Very competitive prices.

Had a book in hand and was ready to purchase, for my 12 year old son, and then the aggressive hostility began when the young woman abruptly announced we need to leave or put a mask on. Fear fever is a sad assault, based not on science or logic, but the emotion of fear. There is nothing to fear but fear it self. Submitting to a fear based request is a step back for logic and civil liberties. This store And its staff should really spend some time examining the fear based policy it has in play, and for what purpose. More importantly I urge them to be brave enough to honestly examine where they learned fear fever thinking, and how is it working out for them here in 2023. Smiles and facial expressions are worthy of sharing. For children’s cognitive and emotional well being it is ESSENTIAL that they can see faces. Masks do not prevent people from getting sick or being sick. Common sense still works -if your sick, wether a customer or an employee, stay home. ARGO has gone woke wack and I hope they go broke sooner not later. PS I found the same books a few blocks away and I was treated with dignity and respect.

The most contradictory bookstore I've even visited philosophy section looks like it was made to not leave antibody calm. Never have I ever seen Deridda next to book about Jesus followed by Foucault.

Cute little book store. Many mainstream and some original options. Not a wide selection of English titles, but that is to be expected from this type of boutique bookstore. There is a large kids section and a good selection of games. The staff is personable and helpful. A good bookstore option in Griffintown.

Great home appliance store with a wide designer items collection. They have very elegant and unique pieces. On the other hand, a mediocre bookstore. They mostly have very popular books. For instance, they don’t have a sociology or philosophy section as far as I know (or they must have hidden them in the storage). Their literary fiction, classics, and modern classics collections are poor as well.

The best book store !! Period
Bon accueil, mais je préfère l'UQAM... Au Québec on parle français!
Great selection of books and great service! Also, there is a huge corner for kids. I was happy to find everything I needed!
Great selection of books and I always manage to find nice editions of classics.

Amazing variety of both English and French books. Staff are friendly and books are priced very reasonably.
Great bookstore where you can still find beautiful editions of books and a variety of styles from fiction, nonfiction and a great science section!
Rude staff. Nobody greets you or acknowledges you here. Other than that, decent apparel and supplies can be found but it’s not what it used to be. They lack a lot of clothing items they used to have. What happened to selling jackets with the McGill insignia on it? Everything they sell is plain now. Their selection of literature is also poor. It’s honesty sad if we are to believe this is the store representing McGill. I don’t think tourists would be impressed by this store…

Always been nice to me, my partner, and little toddler. Great little place for kids books, and one of the few places that have boundary pushing intellectual work in critical ethnic studies and queer studies. Big respect for requiring masks.

Sent my mom and aunt on a biplane tour of Parliament by air! They loved it!!! This is the best Ottawa tourist thing to do, and I highly recommend it for locals too!
The museum is full of really cool aircratfs, and I got the most amazing bomber jacket and cap for my grandson at the gift shop! That gift shop was great. Lots of interesting gift ideas👍

Incredible selection of French literature in a beautiful setting.
Visited on our trip to Montreal and if it wasn't for airline baggage fees I'd have bought about 6 books instead of 1. They have a cosy spot to sit and read, helpful but not pushy staff, and a wide selection of authors. If you like books and are in Montreal, I recommend it!
Great book selection
Wonderful selection of books in English and French.
I have no idea how, on our 5 previous trips to Montreal, my husband and I didn’t know Librairie Bertrand was there in old town.

This little gem of a bookshop has books in both English and French and I appreciated the kind service by the staff person.

Lots of browsing awaits book lovers! I was on the hunt for a copy of the very popular Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros and was able to buy the last copy in stock!! As a book blogger and proud book nerd I was thrilled!

I will definitely be back to Librairie Bertrand on future visits to this beautiful city.

Used to like this place... Then they started forcing masks to get in... in full post covid (june 2023). Stop promoting pollution and stop forcing a bad experience on your costumers. Will probably just go and order from Indigo or find another bookstore to spend my time at

Really neat bookstore and great place to just browse around! Located in St Catherine street area in Montreal, Indigo bookstore has two floors of books, board games, stationery, and some other household items on sale. They also have a little cafe on the second floor. Decent prices on books, both in English and French— and friendly staff!

Stopped by this Renaud Bray store to buy some board games. This place has two floors, first floor mostly board games and second floor mostly books. Mostly in French, but some in English too. This location has great variety of items at decent prices! The staff members were also very helpful and friendly. Good place to grab some gifts, board games or books!
Amazing collection, super amazing staff

I wish they had a loyalty program for frequent buyers

Great location too

They have the most extensive selection of puzzles I have ever seen from comic puzzles to Disney to art-- and everything in between! They also have puzzle mats and boards as well as other games and tons of books!
Prices were resealable, and the collection of English books were phenomenal. I usually shop at indigo but I quit like this one. There's also a second cup right there outside where I read my book for a little while, so I enjoyed my time there.
Even though I couldn’t buy anything because they only offer French books, I had a very nice talk with the woman working there today and she even recommended me a book store in the area that sold English books.
She seemed very knowledgeable and passionate about her job. I’m convinced buying books there is a great experience!
Whether you’re picking up your University transcripts, looking into future education, needing to connect with McGill Accounts receivable, or just wanting to send a post card -> ‘Le James’ at McGill University will deliver a smile.

As a former attendee to McGill - I often go down memory lane when I visit their campus.

I quite fancy the ‘Le James’ bags too!

Thank you for the visit McGill. Next time I’m in town, I’ll be sure to visit. I know there are lots of Universities in Canada, however there’s something extra magical about McGill. ✨🌈📚

Thanks very much for your ‘book’ hunt expertise!!!

I have been eager to get my paws on SPARE by Prince Harry.

Thanks for putting a copy aside for me from your back-stock.

Your library is beautifully merchandised, as so many one-of-a-kind captures to easily navigate the mind to far off places.

I’ll for sure pop by again to say hello again.

Merci ✨📚📒📓📖📕📘📙✨
I almost passed it by because of the QC govt mandated racist French sign that implied unreadable books. But looking closer in case it might be both, I was pleased with such a broad selection of quality offerings in the language of the Realm. Helpful, friendly staff and market priced, it turned into a fine venture. When McGill Uni is in, the coffee shop next door opens & is a nice way to start reading your purchase.

The staff is fantastic. Wide selection of books in French. Our young children got a number of books that the staff selected with them based on the kids likes.

Now they get to learn French as well!
Good size local Bookshop in Old Montreal offering an equal balance between French and English books of various categories. Some interesting non-mainstream selections.

Cute bookstore, however I don’t understand the good comments about the service 😂
None of the sellers answered me when I said “hi” when I arrived, they barely looked at me actually. They didn’t ask me if I needed help (we were only two customers) and I didn’t have any goodbye either. I felt I was wearing an invisible cape, good job 👏🏻
For me, better to buy here than big brand stores. Also discovered beautiful indoor comfortable space to sip my Second Cup coffee while reading my current book purchase. There was a sign too for yoga in the building. (Yoga tribe)

I wanted wifi while I was there so I could look some authors. Store did not want to give me wifi. Also the book selection is pretty basic and books are a bit overpriced. Would have enjoyed a bigger section with books in languages other than french.

One of my favorite book stores and arguably one of the best in Montreal. I go here pretty often and everytime I buy multiple books at a fair price, made even fairer by a discount thanks to a yearly subscription. They also have a website in case you wanna order online. Also, there's a cute little café that you can chill at, so that makes this store even more unique. I forgot to mention, but they do really good deals as well sometimes.

My favorite book shop. Great variety of books both in French and English. Two stories of books! Literally any genre and for any age. There are a lot of board games, toys, souvenirs and different stuff too. I also love their little coffee shop. They brew a great coffee there!
I always came and brought my visitors here for their McGill souvenirs. Great variety of merchandise from elegant pen cases, ties, to card chains, magnets, mugs, water bottles, and of course t-shirts and sweaters. The price is reasonable.
Quick and easy finds...they'll do the work of finding the books for you...plus student discounts...what more do u need

Have never, ever seen so many travel guides in my life!! The shop is not large, but had enough English language selections for us. Very helpful bilingual cashier. While we were there, a beautiful large fluffy dog came in with its owner and it seemed perfectly comfortable...maybe he was a local? Gotta love a bookshop that allows dogs to come in!

Excellent selection of French books and friendly helpful staff. Recommended over Indigo downtown if looking for French books
Very disrespectful to English speakers. Not only to me but also to other people in my class who spoke English. Really was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I have no clue how the people there still have their job. I would not spend another black dime at this place.

Amazing gift shop with two floors - vast selection of novelty items, snacks, books and related items. English selection is limited, but even if your French is limited, there are quite a few low cost items that are Quebec specific to share with those you love - so many informative items as well as humorous ones! Photograph is of the tarot section upstairs near the esoterica bookshelf, I didn't have enough time to photograph much on my way elsewhere.

Store was about to close but they were very kind and stayed a few extra minutes to serve me: I got excellent advice for children books.

Cute, carefully selected books. Im not big on reading, but I got so excited when I found this hidden gem. So many good finds about topics that are actually important and relevant to today's societal issues. Yayyyyy.
Also, they support so many local writers! Love that.
Excellent location & spot! Must do more to attract readers & clientele! Not all passerbys are clientele but... invite writers! Arrange lectures! Make specials for parents & kids! Noel is here...where is papa noel! Give free readings for an alphabet clientele! Etc@

Epic French bookstore. Very hip and organized space with toys, children books, fiction books, CDs, DVDs, stationery, pens and many other things you can find in better independent bookstores. 95% books are in French - I was itching to buy something, but left empty handed. Still a cool place to visit if you are a bibliophile.
Great selection of books in a local bookstore.
Nice children’s section
A charming little bookstore with a great selection; I made the trip there specifically to buy a French book that wasn't readily available anywhere else (including online).
Hosted a poetry event here and the vibe was awesome. Charming bilingual bookstore in Old Montreal.
Nice selection of clothing (hoodies, shirts, pants, athletic wear) and stationery. They also have gift items which are great as souvenirs. Staff is approachable & knowledgeable. New and used textbooks at reasonable price.

This bookstore had a great selection of books. I'm happy to know they deliver for free to outside of Montreal if you spend more than $40. Toronto is lacking in French bookstores...
Little place, there's always someone there to help you find what you are searching for
Excellent bookstore on St.Denis in Montréal. Great place to find French literature from both Québec and from France.
