0/10 experience! Came here after a life changing trauma looking for support (while also struggling w an ed) and the floor manager herself told me in “community” that inpatient wasn’t for connection or peer support but for dealing with triggers by yourself (quietly but never alone). We were not allowed to talk to one another about anything slightly negative or controversial. not too loud! not so sad! I only saw my case manager/theraspist 3.5 times and usually only to tell me I was dressed inappropriately or my drawing were too scary. Food was DISGUSTING, worse than a tv dinner. Don’t go here unless you have a very good support system/family/therapist/psychiatrist that listen to you and you prefer to keep to yourself. Most people felt aggressive and undereducated and uninterested is thinking of patients as individuals. EXTREMELY WHITEEE and single minded, felt unaware of any where outside the suburbs. A lot of people there seemed like very sick, competitive treatment cyclers. I think back on my time at treatment here and view it as neglect and trauma.
When our nutritionist suggested in patient treatment and ERC, I googled it and I ended up here reading the reviews. I'm guessing that's why you're here too. I wish I trusted the nutritionist recommendation. And I wish I hadn't done looked at the reviews beforehand. I think the reviews reflected people's struggle with an eating disorder and much less the care at ERC itself. The decision to admit my daughter to residential care was hard enough. I was looking for a reason to NOT do it. And reading the reviews almost gave me that excuse.

We've been out of ERC for about a year, and we are still in recovery. Things are improving, but the victories are incremental when I'd hoped for something immediate and dramatic. If you are looking at this, you are here for a reason. I wish you the best of luck with your recovery. Please take care of yourself. Understand that it will be hard. Understand that recovery is hard and it will require a commitment from you. ERC can help, but they really need to to see that you have a problem and you want to get better.

I don't think ERC was perfect. It felt a bit corporate, there was high staff turnover at lower levels, and communication wasn't the greatest at the beginning. But they genuinely cared about my daughter. They are more responsible than anyone else for the progress that she's made. Some of the rigidity, rules, etc. It's hard but necessary.
I highly recommend ERC at Northbrook. The staff treated my child with dignity, and took wonderful care of her. ERC does an excellent job educating the family. As a caregiver, I was given extensive 1:1 counseling and nutrition education so that we could continue on the path of recovery when my child returned home. It's so scary to admit your child to residential care, but I'm glad I did it. I encourage caregivers to seek the highest level of care that your child needs. My child has been home and in recovery for 8 months. Don't lose hope! Things can get better!
ERC Northbrook absolutely saved my daughter’s life. We brought our 14 year old here after having no luck at another residential treatment center and found a caring, professional and supportive staff. Leaving our child to basic strangers in an out of state facility was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do as parents, but it was the right thing to do, they gave us back our happy, healthy daughter. We can’t say enough good things about our experience at ERC, the care they gave our daughter, the support and education they gave my husband and I is priceless. They have an extensive support system for caregivers both during the stay and after discharge. I highly recommend ERC and will sing their praises to my last breath.
I was at the erc northbrook for 8 weeks in res, 4 weeks at php, and 4 weeks at iop. I have to say I did have some conflicts with some of the staff and peers there, but overall we resulted into good relationships. I have made so many amazing friends and relationships between the staff and peers, and we had so much fun saying all these random verses, playing table games, and just enjoying what is around us. It was extremely hard for me especially in php and transitioning back to school, but my treatment team(s) both made sure that I was ready and willing to recover. My amazing treatment team which is my therapist(Grace), dietitian(Abby), and psychiatrist(Dr. Aldridge), they couldn’t have helped me more, due to their compassion, reminders, and love towards me. I really have made good memories at that place with everyone I met. It did get a little sentimental at the end when I was departing from erc, but I just know that they will always be there with me. Right now I’m striving and try my very best even if it’s tough to stay recovered and keep pursuing my dreams. I thank everyone who has supported me and guided me along the way in my recovery journey!
I debated writing this review. There are some good people working here, but they nearly killed our daughter. Read the other negative reviews. The one size fits all approach here was an absolute disaster for us. If you have a younger child, look into family based treatment (FBT). I wish the providers we were working with prior to coming here steered us toward FBT instead of recommending this disaster.
SunCloud knows their stuff! They really helped our family. The staff is so compassionate and knowledgeable about all things addiction or mental health related. Highly recommend!
We could not be more grateful for the team at ERC who worked with our adolescent daughter. Eating Disorders are difficult, confusing. and frightening. But, everyone at ERC was kind, professional, understanding, and patient. They answered our questions, time and time again. They listened closely, cared for our daughter on a personal level, and educated us every step of the way. The resources shared with our family were endless. Our daughter felt safe and was given the tools to head toward recovery. EDs are HARD. Hard stuff- but we would chose ERC time and again. Simply grateful!
We highly recommend ERC Northbrook. They are inclusive and family friendly. Our child was medically underweight and they knew exactly what was needed to gently support her progress. The structure of residential was comforting to our daughter and the staff were incredible. Our daughter made so much progress in her time in residential and that continued during partial hospitalization. The training programs for families and weekly family nutrition and therapy sessions were exactly what we needed. It's not an exaggeration to say we knew nothing about ED and we were pretty naive about what our child needed. ERC taught us so much and provided hands on skills that we are using daily to support our child. We will be eternally grateful to ERC for helping our child find her way back to herself.
If you are needing help with mental health, addiction, or an eating disorder, Suncloud can change your life. I went there because I had been under Dr. Kim’s care before , and I knew her program could help me. You are treated as an individual and with compassionate and care.

They treat you as a comprehensive whole so not just one diagnosis at a time, but if you have multiple they create a safe space to recover with support. Going back to treatment was hard, but it changed my life and has given me the ability to be present in my life, with my family and have true peace and contentment. They helped show me how important self- care, community, and support is. I am so grateful today.

If you want to get better and are feeling alone go to Suncloud. Your life will get better and you’ll find hope.
october 2021 i hit the lowest point in my entire life... many times I thought I hit rock bottom but bottom only kept going deeper. my eating disorder had robbed me of basic human decency and any will to be alive. i hated myself and my life for so long I didn't see another way out.

when I reached out to suncloud i thought "how could this place ever help." I had been to other treatment centers, and none I felt like really saw me as a person. i was so worn down, barely saw a reason to live, and my therapist was going to drop me if I didn't reach out to any centers.

so I called. I told the man on the phone I just needed some help. please. I told him a few things and he said "I think you'll fit right in." they fought to get me there and sounded like they actually gave a hoot.

I went to residential and I was not easy. i put up a fight. but suncloud fought for me. they gave me a voice when I didn't have one. they gave me the discipline I so DESPERATELY needed. but they were also so kind and understanding. they looked at me as a person first and mentally ill second. they made me unravel all the reasons why I was not eating or treating myself with respect.

suncloud gave me the building blocks to make a life for myself outside of the misery I had created. over a year later and I have found full recovery. I am free. I know my weight and food is not tied to who I am as a person.

thank u suncloud, the amazing people I met along the way, and the staff. i would not ever be in the place I am today if it wasn't for their help. I now work at an recovery center helping others who were in some of the same places I once was. I can only hope to spread even a little of the magic that suncloud spread to me.
SunCloud Health offers a unique opportunity for its clients. A music therapist & music teacher working alongside their clinical staff allows for a rare, highly engaging experience for their patients to experience the benefits music plays in healing many forms of addiction and emotional trauma––A variety of musical instruments are shared, offering the clients an opportunity to share how the music makes them feel—gaining higher insight into themselves and the world around them. Native American flute lessons are available to those interested in talking lessons––This particular instrument, due to its beautiful sound and low learning curve, allows people to learn how to play in a relatively short period, helping people gain confidence and a healthy means of getting outside of themselves and into a meditative state. Kudos to SunCloud for offering alternative approaches to healing and self-care.
I had the opportunity to spend a week a SunCloud Health learning about their programs and what they offer those struggling with eating disorders, food addiction, mood disorders and substance use disorders. To say I was incredibly impressed was an understatement. They are now offering a virtual evening IOP program which is such a needed service for those trying to navigate evenings, which are often spent alone and tend to be the most difficult and challenging time of day for many. This is such a needed service and I just want to acknowledge SunCloud Health for the amazing work they are doing. It's ground breaking stuff!! Dr. Kim and her staff are recovery rockstars.
I’m so grateful for Suncloud’s outstanding out patient care. My recovery did not end after treatment. Kimmy Haynes has been a great extension when I left programming. She has provided me with continued support and resources which gave me a better chance at long term recovery. Her Alumni group was a great stepping stone after treatment. To this day I still reach out to her for additional support. I go to her for specific program meetings, service work opportunities and moral support.
Suncloud, in my opinion, provides the complete package!
Joining the team at SunCloud was one of the best decisions of my life. Patients and their families are our highest priority. I have never seen a staff work so hard or go above and beyond. SunCloud has hired the best of the best. People with empathy, understanding and a great work ethic!
SunCloud is a place where the staff truly cares about their patients well being and recovery. I interned at SunCloud and my experience there was incredible. I learned so much about integrated care, which is what they provide at SunCloud, where each patient is treated for their multiple mental health issues at the same time. This is a wonderful model of care. I personally watched many patients work through the program and improve their lives greatly. The group therapy work creates amazing bonds between patients and personal discovery. I am so grateful for the time I got to spend at SunCloud. If you want to be committed to recovery and are looking for a place to get help, SunCloud is a great place to consider.
