I’m always on the hunt for cute gift shops and this is one of them. Lots of cards, trinkets, modern New York souvenirs, etc.
very interesting museum! took us around 1.5-2 hours to see of most of the exhibits
just note that there is not AC in most of the museum which made it pretty tough, maybe it’s better to come on a cold day

definitely suitable for kids and strollers
Took my son to this museum because he loves trains. It was great that there was a scavenger hunt for the kids. It was lots of fun looking for the pictures thst matched on the trains. I really enjoyed the museum and looking at the old advertisments on the trains.
At first I thought it would be boring to look at old trains. I was so wrong. There is a lot to look, to do, to learn. My kids loved it, my teenage brother loved it! (Yes, a moody teenager enjoyed it). The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The shop if also worth it. We will come back and recommend.
Transit nerd alert. The New York Transit Museum is a unique fusion of a subway station and a museum. It offers a captivating journey through a century of transit history in New York, where the vintage cars have retained their authentic look, feel, and even smell.
Exploring the museum allowed me to immerse myself in the bygone era, discovering fascinating insights into life through the train advertisements and the food preferences of the past.
In today's world, the cut and cover method used to construct the subway system would be deemed unimaginable, but it was this very unconventional approach that contributed to the remarkable rise of NYC.
These trains were not just modes of transportation; they carried with them the dreams and aspirations of countless individuals.

The best gift shop. Get all my greeting cards here.
The New York Transit museum is amazing to understand the industrial history of NYC and the USA. The museum has photos from the early construction and model trains from each of its iterations at the lower level. During the summer the entrance of the museum can get a little hot and sweaty but after the first exhibit it will space out to be comfortable and breathable. A fun place to take children and take photos along the model trains and buses.

Lovely shop with diverse array of unique goods in a quaint neighborhood. Backyard was perfect for our event and owner was great and accommodating.
This my second trip to this museum. The entry price differs for seniors, kids and disabled = discounted to $5. I purchased tickets while waiting online. The entry was $10 per adult.
I enjoyed the museum. Very interesting. Cool props and loaded with information. Brought back memories of transit travel.
They have a Spot It game for visitors to learn more and entertain the kids, with locating items. That was nice to experience.
The restrooms were clean. Souvenirs are priced well for unique items. Museum Crew was polite, helpful and knowledgeable.

Amazing customer service. Best place to buy gift.
The New York Transit Museum is an absolute gem for both locals and tourists. Located in a beautifully restored subway station, it offers a fascinating journey through the history of transportation in NYC. The exhibits are engaging and informative, showcasing the evolution of subway systems, buses, and other modes of transit. Walking through the vintage trains and buses is like stepping back in time. The museum also features interactive displays that entertain and educate visitors of all ages. From the intricate model train layouts to the hands-on simulators, there's something for everyone. The knowledgeable staff is passionate about the subject matter and eager to share their insights. They provide interesting anecdotes and answer any questions you may have, enhancing the overall experience. One highlight is the Underground Home exhibit, a recreated 1930s subway station that gives a glimpse into the daily lives of subway construction workers. It's a fascinating step back in time. The museum also hosts special events and workshops that cater to different interests, making each visit unique. Whether you're a transportation enthusiast, history buff, or simply curious about NYC's vibrant past, the New York Transit Museum is a must-visit. It celebrates the city's transportation heritage in a captivating and accessible way.

Wanderlustre is a unique gift shop where the mystical enchantment of unicorns intertwines with the raw reality of life, akin to zebras amid lions. In this heavenly space, discover handpicked treasures that will surely delight everyone around you.
Fabulous museum located in Brooklyn! Highly recommend visiting whether you are a tourist visiting the city or a local, the subway system is a very complex system that has taken over a hundred years of work to get to where it is today and this museum showcases all of it along with the bus system as well! The vintage train cars are incredible and really give you an idea of what it must have been like to use the system in those time periods.

Online store support is pretty awful. Slow responses, if any, and item has still not shipped after 6 weeks. Can't even get a cancellation process from their terrible customer service.

This is a beautiful shop! My only recommendation would be that they check their inventory more frequently for items that might be a bit too close to expiring to keep on the shelves. Other than that, this place is an absolute dream. I’d definitely recommend it!

I placed an order with this company a month ago through their online website. I have yet to receive the product. I called the store no one answers. I left a message with no return call. I have emailed with no response. I have tried every way possible listed to contact this company to either get my money back or get the product. I can’t get a hold of anyone. Save yourself the trouble and don’t order anything online from this company. Apparently they just take your money and keep the product without ever shipping it to you. If customer service is this terrible online there’s no way I would ever step foot in this store.

My mom was visiting and needed to find some cute NYC gifts for her friends back home in North Carolina. We were avoiding Manhattan and crossing paths with the NYC Marathon, so this store was a truly convenient find. The store is well stocked and the staff was super friendly. My mom got everything she needed at very reasonable and fair prices.

In a landscape of “quirky” yet stylish gift shops, Wanderlustre stands out by providing the selection a stylish setting where you can imagine transforming a corner of your home to make room for the little bit of magic that the shop has picked out. I put Wanderlustre on my list for hostess or celebration gifts. They have unique finds for friends- and things that are tempting as gifts to myself.
If they ever actually reply to emails or DMs on Facebook I might be in a position to order something but as they maintain radio silence I guess I'll never know.
Brooklyn Artery is the best. Their online service was spot on and more . I had to send my mom a gift last minute for Mother's day. They not only were so efficient and everything came before time needed. They added a sweet message about not opening up until Mother's Day which made it so much more special . We were able to FaceTime and I got to see her open it up. I will definitely order again.

Nice gift store in the area. Awesome Brooklyn has a lot of neat gifts and balloons. More witty offerings and politico merch then other stores or chain stores. They have some great AOC & RBG merch. They also carry some unique Brooklyn items like trays, bags, postcards, patches, and more. I always like stopping in and seeing what’s new here. The cashier was friendly too. They’re always really helpful if I have questions. It’s a nice store that’s pretty fair on pricing. Some thing seems a little much but befitting for the city and gift shops. It’s a nice neighborhood addition though and they have a home goods store down the road. Come by and check it out and get your next awesome gift! 🎁

One of my favorite local stores! I go here whenever I need a gift or card for someone. Also love their bigger home goods store down the street. Always have the cutest stuff, and everyone who works there is so nice.
Lots of nice things for gifts. They have a nice selection of cards, journals, etc. They gave Greenpoint and Brooklyn themed items. They have clothing and gifts for kids. They continue to have a nice select of items for gifts.

Wanderlustre is the cutest store and Katy is SO HELPFUL. She helped me thoughtfully curate gifts for my bridesmaids and also for welcome gifts for my wedding. She shipped all of my wedding gifts to their destination and was so thoughtful and put so much care into every step of the process. I was so happy to support her and Wanderlustre in giving these gifts, highly recommend this store!

I ordered the Kaws Tide poster and received it damaged, while they are currently sold out, they refunded me, but now I'm without a poster to actually frame and hang, while resales of these posters are already in the hundreds of dollars range. Shopify needs to pack these things better and label them fragile/do not bend if they're charging $18 for domestic shipping. It's a waste of time, resources, and dope artwork. Super disappointed in this whole transaction

Nice selection of all kinds of stuff related to art in the museum. Very well lit with natural light. Lots of books, prints, pots, plates, postcards, toys, mugs, pencils, shawls, knick knacks; even funky art deco chairs. I love the upside-down animal sugar bowls (see photos).

A wonderful little store and the only one of its kind in our neighborhood. It's a great place for fun, Brooklyn-centric and handmade items - cards, art, gifts, toys, jewelry, and so much more. I love popping in just to see what's new. The staff of one is always friendly.

This store is SO AWESOME!! Seriously though no pun intended. The owner is so kind and is a true pillar of the community! Her store is an independent business that sells goods from other independent businesses. How amazing is that?! You will find novelty gifts and items for every age group, anything from candles, key chains to puzzles! Did I mention they so have online ordering for pick up and delivery available? This store is a true New York City treasure!

Something for everyone and every occasion - or for no reason at all and just for fun! Always on the pulse of the latest news, trends, fashions, and ahead of the game every time. They proudly support the community of Flatbush, Brooklyn and feature local artists and brands. There's a range of price points with most gifts at very affordable prices - you can get a really artisanal or fashionable gift for someone for under $50. The owner is so friendly and the shop is so inviting. Shop Awesome!

I always love walking into the shop and finding interesting eclectic objects, that are always curated well and in touch with current cultural conversation. The staff is kind and helpful. This is one of my favorite museum shops in new york!!!
I’m missing the Brooklyn Museum right now. The Brooklyn Museum is easily one of my favorite places to go in New York City on any day, let alone when they’re having a major installation. The exhibits, the events (1st Saturdays!) the culture, and even the space enrich my soul.

Also expertly curated is the Brooklyn Museum Shop. Their selection of survey books (I picked up a book of Basquiat’s art when I was last there), gifts, and keepsakes reflect the best of what the museum has had to offer over time. Whoever is managing it thoughtfully caters to the connoisseurs, the families with children, the educators, the playful sort, the locals as well as tourists, the hip and the neophyte. And that inclusive, you’re-welcome-we-got-you flavor, that right there, is the spirit of Brooklyn.

The staff all around is warm, helpful, and knowledgeable. The shop is merchandised with an eye toward attractive detail and ease for the customer, even when they moved it to the front of the pavilion and lobby, which is a great spot for it. The Brooklyn Museum is just dope.
This museum shop is expertly curated and beautifully maintained. I had the pleasure of a personal tour by Mr. Cambridge-Del Peshe, and I am totally impressed by his knowledge and committment to this project. Wonderful visit!
Super cool shop. Lots of Brooklyn designers and makers -- Yay Brooklyn! Great book selection, fun t-shirts and tote bags. So many things I haven't seen anywhere else.
Cheerful and colorful neighborhood shop that stocks gifts, small accessories and home decor in an affordable price range. Filled to the brim with delightful thinks you never knew your couldn’t live without. Super helpful customer service. A welcome addition to the neighborhood.

I went to college here. It's as good as you are. They don't really push you so lazy students may love going but get nothing from it. But make up your mind to shine and you will do great!

DESPITE THE PUN
in its name, this shop stands for welcome commercial diversity on Cortelyou Road. Nearly all else on the street is about food, drink and healthcare. There is a hardware store and an upholsterer and not much else from the wider world. The shop displays in its windows gifts I hope never to receive but it is well kept, an obvious labor of affection, and mildly eccentric enough to be forgiven the pun.
The employees were very kind . The place was lively, very friendly and clean and they had a range of supplies from school supplies to make up , health essentials and electronics. Also the people who worked there was very helpful in finding me the textbook i needed
I've finally graduated after 15 years and now it's on to Baruch. I'll miss everyone there and I thank President Schrader for everything.

LOVE shopping at Awesome! The selection of super cute stuff is always changing, so it's always worth it to stop in. They are my go-to place when I want something totally unique that I know I won't be able to find elsewhere.

They also have great balloons for birthdays and the staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful. We love Awesome! <3
Book store is pretty cool. They got a lot of great books. They also have some items in there that are cheaper than staples which I found to be pretty amazing. I bought a five star mead book for 6 $ and a multicolored pen for $2.89. They also have some pretty sweet prices on the led/mechanical pencils and block erasers. But when you sell books back to them they kinda rip you off but it's a business at the end of they day and they tryna make money so you gotta understand. I think they offered like 50 bucks for a like new calculus book that's original price was 360 dollars or something.

This review is long overdue... 'Awesome Brooklyn' is indeed, awesome (I know, just couldn't help myself)! I discovered the store almost a year ago and they have become my go-to-place for anything and everything gift related. Vanessa has a keen sense of gift-giving and always steers me in the right direction when I stop by last minute, and in a panic (shopping for others in my mind equals stress). Their merchandise is unique, quirky and very open-minded, which is right up my alley. Every single purchase I've made (greeting cards, clothing, toys, electronics, etc.) have been thoroughly enjoyed by a wide range of recipients (loved ones, colleagues, acquaintances). It is needless to mention what a fantastic addition they have been to our beloved neighborhood. For the essence and spirit of the mom-and-pop shop is very much alive and thriving!

Nice store and great customer service
I couldn’t make it to return a book I rented on time since I took night classes and the bookstore was always closed by the time I got to school. I was returning it a couple days late but called ahead of time just to be sure it wouldn’t be a problem. The lady that answered the phone said it was fine but double checked with the manager who promptly got on the phone and told me that because Kingsborough was going to be publishing a new book in the upcoming semester & the old one will be useless, I was getting stuck with the book (because it was late) and the total amount of the book was charged to my account, over $100. Be careful! I won’t make the same mistake twice.
Overpriced but good selection. Clean and tidy but staff is hit and miss. Some are nice and some ignore you and talk to other people about personal things while ringing you up. Cursing swearing and loud joking around was annoying. Expect more from adults even if they are students.
One of the best high schools in New York, Leon M. Goldstein School for the Sciences, is based here. Tight security, pleasant teachers, great building. My kids loved their educational experience here.

Every item is bursting with one of a kind character so that you don't need to spend an arm and a leg to give a great gift. No matter for whom you are looking for a gift (or for yourself!)
