Very interesting place and def worth a visit!! They cover the 20th century and up to Afghanistan. The curator, Tyler, really knows his history and items on display. We donated our grandfather’s WWII belongings and I feel they are in good home.
The young man at the front was very friendly. So knowledgeable! Great experience . You can look at your own pace. We spent about an hour and half . I know we missed some things. Definitely will be back .
Found this by chance. I'm glad I did. Amazing detail. Extremely clean, organized but creative at the same time. I purchased a photo of an old aircraft and a t-shirt. I am an Air Force Veteran. I bought a t-shirt to support the owners. The quality of their shirts is far above quality of what you could get in the Mall. I am going back to get the rest of the colors before I leave town. Please go check out the museum and the numerous historical momentos they have. Highly recommend. Owners and staff were amazing.

This place was bigger than I thought. I’m not sure how long we stayed but I’m sure if we took the time we could be there for hours! My son who is all about learning history and the military had an amazing time. We saw and learned! Definitely recommend going. I only do wish there was someone to explain more things or talk a little bit about each war or something like that! Definitely recommend going!

I tried to bring in a special needs gentleman that loves everything about wars. Instead of being a decent person, his care taker was told he needed to pay. This gentleman survives on his ssi and there is nothing left at the end of the month. Why wouldn’t a veteran be happy someone is so passionate about military history? Would it have been a horrible thing to let him look around for a minute? The store was empty!!
Great museum. Staff are friendly and enjoyable. The planes are really really cool and my toddler lost his mind.
Very cool and worth the traffic, in a weird part of Fort Worth. Had the A12 covered which made me sad but saw a lot of other cool aircraft. Hops and props was a cool event!
This is a wonderful, well designed museum! So many artifacts thoughtfully arranged and explained. There's something for everyone's interest. In today's society it's needed more than ever!
Amazing planes, it's crazy to think that they are almost all still airworthy. I highly recommend.
Great history lesson
Interesting military museum. Surprisingly, it is located in a mall. It took us about an hour to go through, but you can easily stay for longer, as there is a lot to read. It covers a lot of wars too. I liked the displays that showed how the environment was like. The museum is worth seeing at least once?, if you enjoy learning about wars.
Very cool place to visit. Lots of volunteers around to explain and help you out. Old planes and helicopters on the grounds to look at. Great place for kids to visit as they had coloring stations, flight simulators, and other activities to do and climb on. Very cool place to visit.
This is an amazing museum that deserves more recognition. The quality of the museum holdings is amazing, with items from famous generals such as Grant, Lee, Sheridan and Stuart. Equal attention is given to both sides, with many examples of uniforms, rifles and regimental colors. Also featured is an impressive collection of Victorian dresses. Unquestionably one of the best museums in the country with this theme!
One of my favorite museums in the DFW area. The Modern is worth a visit even between special exhibitions. These photos reflect pieces from the permanent connection.
Super nice place. 10 dollars well spent. Nice displays inside. Great collection of aircraft out side. Super friendly environment. Had a Veteran walked with me trough the whole place explaining me things and shading stories. I definitely recommend this place. It’s a must :)
You have to like history and appreciate aviation to appreciate this place, the time and effort they must have put together to bring to us such an amazing place. Learned so many new things from WW1 and WW2. It was fascinating hearing stories from the veterans there in staff. I could just sit there in there brake room and listen to them talk for ever. The place was really organized and well detailed. All the way down from the small scale models collection to the real stuff. Tons of memorabilia news papers, artifacts, facts etc you name it this place had it and if you don't see something or understand ask. They where extremely eager to answer any question and laid some good knowledge on me. Thanks again. I have not been able to talk to many friends and family from all the facts I leathat day. Still mind blowing. Nice gift shop also if you want to take a Lil of the place with you to remember by. You can't beat this place for only 10 bucks. Definitely a place to stop by if your passing by or even if you live in the area. Thank you again for a wonderful experience. Thank to everyone that took the time to put together such a place. Plenty of artifacts and plenty of space. Somehow sad to be reminded of such a dark chapter of american history. An entire nation killing it's own citizens. Absolutely worth a vist .
Worked the Fort Worth Stock and Rodeo show with Chevy. If you’re attending, come early in the weekend as it gets busy. There is a lot of vendors and a lot of activities for families.
Very well preserved and presented aircraft. Always a great time to visit here. You cant get enough seeing the airplanes . I highly recommend visiting here .
I could spend a week at The Modern and not be able to take it all in. The space itself is a tribute to art. The architecture of the building supports the works that are displayed inside.
Went on the last day of a wonderful exhibition-Jaune Quick-To-See Smith. Her pieces and the free scannable tour were great. There is an entrance fee which allows you to go to any part of the museum. The permanent collection is good as well. I did not love the order of the tour, but I figured that out quickly.
The cafe served lunch til 3. The Stock Show was going on across the street, so I gave myself plenty of time to find parking- got a spot in the museum lot, no fee! There are 2 other world class museums less than 3 blocks away and other nice restaurants within a half mile.

One of the best museums I have ever been to, plants showed us around and really made the planes come to life with their story and Rich history. Will come back again soon!
My 14-year-old son and I absolutely geeked out over the aircraft. I had only recently learned about the OV-10 Bronco, and to have the chance to really touch and see multiple versions, as well as the original mock-up, was a treat. We were surprised by the amount of warfighters that were there, and though we showed up to just meander about, we were met outside by Mike and received a full tour of the aircraft and their heritage. Angela provided her personal history on her father's service--Medal of Honor winner and Bronco pilot Steven L. Bennet--and Jim Hodgson, the executive director, was kind enough to share his knowledge as a Bronco and F-4 Phantom pilot. We might have just hit the jackpot, being some of the first ones early on a Saturday morning, but it is very evident that everyone there has a passion for the museum and Aviation history. Thank you, again! It has made for a wonderful father-son journey.
This place is a true gem of a museum. They have a considerable amount of military aircraft to see up close. You’re even allowed to touch them as you walk up to them. One plane was a cargo plane that we were allowed to step inside into the cockpit.
John was our tour guide and he was phenomenal - very knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about what he does. We couldn’t have been more impressed as he helped ensure we had an incredible experience. We didn’t expect a guided tour but were very pleased to have been offered one.

Very interesting. I'm a history buff and enjoy museums. I'm glad to see the story boards weren't politically correct and told the story as seen through the eyes of that day. History is history, let's not try to sanitize it and try make like it didn't happen. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Very interesting and wide variety of aircraft! The docents are really nice and gave my son and I lots of information about the Bronco airplanes. Affordable and a great little museum in my hometown! Can’t wait to see what they add!
My wife and I have driven past this museum for the past 3 years we have lived in the area and today we finally decided to visit. We were able to quickly buy tickets and enter the gallery. It was amazing how much historic memorabilia they have on display. The museum is separated with the North on the left and South on the right. Some of the highlights are a cigar smoked by US Grant and a pocket knife owned by General Lee. There are detailed explanations for every artifact and it was very informative. Even my wife, who is not a huge history buff had a great time. The end of the museum contains a gallery of historic dresses that could be their own museum. We were only there of about an hour, but could have spent much more time there. It is definitely worth taking the time to visit.
First off, the story of the guy this museum is named for is fascinating and second their collection and building are top-notch. My favorites were the Warhol and Ruscha. It’s also a good place to grab some lunch
I just finished an appt nearby, and I needed to use the restroom while walking to a bus stop, and this wonderful place let me use their restroom. I’ve never been here before, and let me tell you, it is something to see! It’s gorgeous! You should definitely come see it if you can! They have amazing customer service as well! I didn’t have to find anyone or ask anyone anything! As soon as I walked in, the man at the front desk asked me how he could help me today! 5 star service!
The architecture alone merits a visit, as it was designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadau Ando . The moat at twilight reflects the blue glittering words of the site-specific Jennie Holzer, which is aptly named Kinda Blue. You can see it from across the grounds outside the restaurant even when they’re not open. BTW the restaurant is also fabulous and shouldn’t be missed.
A wonderful place if you are an aviation enthusiast. When they say you can just go up and touch the planes, they really do mean it, and just that alone is a rare chance for anyone. All of the guides were incredibly friendly, very knowledgeable, mostly ex-pilots themselves and understand the planes from top to bottom. Even though it looks small, it has heart.
Very cool museum, well organized with the Confederates and Union divided. They even has some unique and one of a kind pieces of history.
The gift shop is very reasonably priced, even cheap. The sales person was very polite and showed me the replica swords and firearms. Highly recommend visiting, only a $7 Ticket.

Fabulous museum with incredible exhibits. If you have an appreciation for art do yourself a favor and set aside a few hours to spend here. I barely saw everything in two hours and I was moving a bit quick.
Very enjoyable experience. Good mix of paintings and sculpture. Impressive collection and very friendly staff. Plenty of space to view the works with others. Recommended!
I really enjoyed a day trip at the Amon Carter Museum. I'm a graphic designer, and the exhibit and installation pieces really inspire my line of work.
Small but nice museum. My favorite part, is they provide a postcard and send it for free. I sent a nice card back home. The admission was also free.
Excellent museum about the Fort Worth Stockyards! I had a very very nice talk with the older lady that was working there. She remembered the glory days and showed me the old photo of the stockyards.

Spent over an hour there with two 10 year old and truthfully could have spent more. Glad we went, the staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and informative. Worth visiting for any history buff! We will definitely go again.
Super interesting exhibits, some permanent and some rotating, plus it's free. Perfect spot for a day date - has a nice lawn area out front too that we sat on for a bit. Wasn't crowded at all on a weekday afternoon, gave us plenty of time to look at everything and move at our own pace. It's close to other art museums downtown as well - finding the parking was the only tricky part, but I feel like that's par for the course with any place downtown.
100° day; 2 18 year olds… one tired mama. The museum was closing and the kids only got to spend about 45 minutes. They want to go back!! Much appreciation for the art collection. We appreciate the reality of the American West. I am partial to Remington while the kids loved Russell. We live in Fort Worth and will go back to spend more time.

Such a great place to take the family. The aviation history in Fort Worth is very rich. Did y'all know that we trained WWI pilots? I didn't, until I visited the museum. There are volunteer veterans there that are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable. It's an honor learning from them. The kiddos will love the interactive displays they have. I was so focused on learning from a vet, I almost forgot they had static aircraft outside! What an amazing collection! I really appreciate their passion for restoration for the public. They love the OV-10 Bronco, which was an unsung hero during Vietnam. The pilots were incredibly brave. On Amazon, they'll donate a portion of purchases to one of the charities they have listed. The OV-10 Bronco Foundation is on there. Please use that to help these guys out!
If you enter on a Sunday, the entrance fee is half off. I enjoyed the art at this museum but what more gorgeous than anything is the concrete building itself. It has a museum cafe/restaurant that overlooks the water artwork in the most iconic part of the courtyard.

It is a small museum with only 2 rooms to display paintings and a few bronze sculptures from the collection of Sid Richardson. The docent was heard explaining some of the works to other visitors and offered good services to us too. But we were short on time as we had a flight to catch. The western paintings by Charles Russell and Frederic Remington were impressive and the short descriptions of each of the paintings help in understanding the details. Apparently the displays are changed often. There is a self portrait of Frederic Remington and a bronze sculpture of Charles Russell. It was worth the quick stop.

Educational, History to actually physically see, Each side was shown equality, Displayed beautifully, A must see for any history buff, Great place for kids to learn about the Civil War! Gift shop helped pick out some things to remember the adventure there! GO, JUST GO
Our first time visiting and we loved it. We spent about 4 hours here. Everything is very well taken care of and clean. I highly recommend reading everything about the artifacts, they’re so cool. My favorite was the medical equipment they used to use for amputation, etc. please research their business hours before heading over. They’re closed on Sundays so we had to come back on a Saturday but totally worth it. I highly recommend it!!!
Wow, what a great place! They gave many airplanes and helicopters from years past. Most are fully restored and some being reconstructed. Our son is an aerospace engineer and fully enjoyed it as we did. The staff and volunteers are super friendly and helpful. If you have any interest in airplanes, visit it!

A must see for all ages. Great people, not crowded. They have a cat named Sammy. We spoke to a nice man that told us stories about the war. There is a lot of history to learn. My husband loved it. It was pretty neat.

As an outdoor inspired Texan, this show spoke to my heart in the language that reads nature in all her mystery. I could hear the wind and feel the Prairie Grasses of my grandparents' pastures as my eyes and heart devoured each inch of this space.
If abstraction is more to your liking, head up the rainbow 🌈 topped stairs to the recently opened mid-century sculptural and lithograph pieces to see what they become with your viewing.
And see if, like me, your mind goes wild with conjecture as you walk up the ramps lined with an installation designed specifically for this space at the Amon Carter. As always, the museum is free but welcomes donations!

I took my two sons to the museum on February 23, 2023, as we are a homeschool family and the history lessons being studied right now revolve around WWII. All of us were excited as we drove to the museum talking about that time period and wondering what they would have inside the museum.
Imagine our surprise as we were turned away at the door almost a full three hours before the posted closing time. I was told by one of the two men sitting at the desk playing on their phones that it was a "soft" close as they weren't selling anymore tickets for the day. When I asked why since the sign on the wall said that they did not close until five, the young man started stuttering and looking at the older man for help. None came from the older man, as he never spoke nor acknowledged our presence in any way.
I know we live in a calloused world, and I have come to expect poor service and rude employees as the norm, but I expected more from a place honoring the men and women who have fought for our freedoms. It is a sad commentary on our deteriorated society.
The youth for today, as a whole, have no pride of nation. One of the places that could help to educate them apparently doesn't as well.

Small, intimate, chapel like museum with an assortment of mostly American made Christian art. Not exhaustive in any way but inspired. Worth any effort to go. The life size dimensional depiction of the Last Supper is fabulous.

A flight experience is truly profound - there are signatures inside the plane of the veterans who have flown with them. Brings you closer to those brave humans; really powerful.
As a passenger, it’s also actually really comfortable! A super fun experience - we even saw little kids on the ground waving at us!

Nestled in the middle of fort worth is a museum. I had know idea it was here. But I'm so glad they are. If you never been GO!! AMAZING

We watched the bulls at 11:30 and 4! Such history! Loved it! Will go back! Parked in the parking lot at the 100 block of Stockyard Blvd. Walked down the alley and the waited by Avoca coffee shop. They had good coffee too! The 4 o'clock was after lunch in Risckys BBQ the Stockyards alley where the rail way goes through the old cattle trading area. The shops are very cool to explore! Make sure you look! There's YouTube videos we watched first. We did the John Wayne museum($23.50/pp), the Stockyards museum too($2/pp) there's also a long horn you can get your picture with, in saddle, for $5!
Nice small quick museum. Has some beautiful paintings and of course the life-size replica of the last supper portrait as well as the ark of the covenant. Definitely a must see. The curator was very knowledgeable and informative. At the time I went no fee donation only.

This is a great museum with many fascinating presentations and amazing artifacts. I highly recommend a visit. The cost is a very reasonable 7.00 and the tour is self-guided. Plan to spend about 90 minutes or so for the tour. There is a 30 min video that is good to watch before you begin. It provides the overview of the museum and the highlights the significant artifacts. Lots of incredible history in this museum, you won’t regret!

Good art museum if you’re a fan of Western art such as Remington, horses, cowboys. Miscellaneous displays of other American art lack focus. Not enough of any one type of thing to make up a whole room. The building itself lacks interesting architectural features and is reminiscent of state university buildings of the modern era. Veranda area seems empty and wasted but useful for events. Beautiful view. I got the impression the Carter museum lacks support, big donors, or direction. But maybe they have plans. Perfect location. Easy to get to on the culture trolley.
Fort Worth has some of the finest art museums in the country. As a Fort Worth resident I frequent those museums several times a year but for whatever reason The Sid Richardson Art Museum slips my mind. It could be because this museum is located near Sundance Square and the other museums are in the Cultural District. I went recently to The Sid Richardson to view the Magnificent artwork and sculptures of the Old West of Frederic Remington, Charles Marion Russell & many others. Currently because of Covid, you have to call for reservations to gain entrance to the museum, but it is well worth it. To see a Remington sculpture or a Russell painting up close is a treat. Whether visiting or if a resident of Fort Worth, a trip to The Sid Richardson to explore a bygone era is time well spent.
Great place to come to learn so much . The employees were extremely nice and had our boys do a scavenger hunt and we had so much fun finding all the clues and reading about all the men and woman that served . Highly recommend coming here and will definitely be back soon here again .

This is a little-known place that no one seems to know about. Whether you're religious or not it is something that you need to go and see and have Jim tell you all about it. There are only two places in the United States that have a life-size last supper in wax. Don't take my word for it go see it yourself and you will be as amazed as I was and the group that I took over
We went right before they closed but they let us walk through. I am so happy to find this little gem!! I have been to many many military museums but this one will give them all a run for their money. Very much enjoyed it.
Very unique place with some amazing artwork. The was Last Supper was definitely worth the visit!! No admission free, but a goodwill donation is appreciated

Small and cosy museum filled with lots of interesting memorabilia, from possessions of early immigrants and cowboy accessories to railway maps and high school photographs. I walked around the museum a few times and I always found something surprising every round. If you have time, I recommend you to sit down and watch the "Wall Street of the West" video at the back of the museum. It is interesting to see how Fort Worth thrived and grew when the rest of the USA was in depression during the 1930s. After visiting the museum, go to the back of the building to see the historical cattle-pens. If the staircase at the cattle-pen is open, climb up to get a good view of the stockyards and downtown Fort Worth.
The exhibits were so interesting, and we will go back.
