Wonderful place...Know it ...love it...
Free admission.
The museum is not very big but alot of history in the races. The cars that were displayed were awesome. We're from Michigan and Roger Penske is a hero in our state. He has done so much for southeast Michigan. Been a fan of his ever since I can remember. He's a generous and hard working man. It was interesting to see 2 of the cars that he raced.

Elderly gentleman smoking a cigarillo demanded we move from our perch on the porch, despite showing up in advance and waiting two hours and the unicorn hostess suggesting we move up so we can see. The guy thanked us in advance for moving and when that did not work he physically pushed two of us. Apparently he owned the porch and the house and felt that gave him the authority to shove patrons. We left. The garden was crowded and that would have been tolerable if I wasn’t concerned about being physically assaulted during the event. It’s not worth the rudeness or lack of physical safety.
Oh my gosh what a fun Expirence, my father me and my son went. Aging 62-1 we had a blast. The gentleman there loved the knowledge they have gained over their lifetime and were not shy to pass on the history. We absolutely loved this museum and will surely return. 10/10

Excellent museum to see some history of Penske racing. Lots of history related to Indy and NASCAR racing and some very cool cars. Best of all it was free. It’s located at the Penske Auto Plaza so there are a lot of nice exotic cars for sale there as well and to drool over.
Being a White woman born and raised in the South (NC), I saw and experienced firsthand how our Black sisters and brothers were treated during segregation. I can’t begin to imagine what it was like to be Black during those evil years of slavery. Having only recently learned through Ancestry that I am 1% Black, I never experienced being shunned and denigrated because of it. It has given me many things to contemplate and to be thankful for.
A few months ago, I was privileged to visit the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center in Phoenix. Having been raised during segregation, I perhaps know more than the average American about this disgraceful period in American history. As such, I am thankful for the opportunity through this museum to learn more about the Black side of my heritage. Dr. Matthew C. Whitaker, PH.D, and his wonderful staff, graciously led a group of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Seniors through the museum, shared it history, and the dreams for the Center’s future.

This is a small display of cars, perhaps about 15 to 20 of them that Penske had involvement in. As such, a worthwhile place to visit if you are in the area, especially since it is free. I especially enjoyed seeing Mark Donahue's F1 and Indy winning cars, though I wished there was a 917-30 and Indy Eagle. Also, I thought the PC5 was a Mclaren repainted, but learned otherwise. Walking through the high end car showrooms nearby was an experience in itself. One used Maserati was on sale but still over 6 figures;)!
I can only speak for MIM venue. First time visit and WOW! Gorgeous, intimate room, every seat is great since it's pretty steep, the sound is just alive and dynamic and the musicians know and appreciate that. We saw Max Weinberg Jukebox, and it was a pleasure. Staff was nice as well, and parking is a plenty. I really appreciate the fact that the stated ticket price on the website is exactly what you pay. No Ticketmaster fees, etc. Thank you! Well done!
Overall, it was a pretty terrific experience. The layout got a little bit repetitive after a while, but each display was extremely informative. As a committed musician, I could appreciate it, but isn't the sort of place you visit again and again. That being said, the Musical Instrument Museum is absolutely somewhere that everybody needs to visit at least once.
Didn't know what to expect when I visited but I quickly realized that this place is something very special. We ended up spending the whole day admiring the variety of desert plants and walking the different trails. I thought it could not get better until we visited the Botero exhibit and we were blown away. The exhibit was great as was the movie. I just can't say enough about how helpful and friendly all the volunteers are here. This should not be missed.
Wow! Had such a fantastic time here. There are instruments from all over the world grouped by country or genre. You get audio devices that let you listen to the music from each section as you pass along. There’s a room of interactive instruments at the end by the cafe. The museum is well curated and organized. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Phoenix.
This was one of the coolest museums I have ever been too! It’s the Smithsonian of Musical Instruments! And it’s almost just as big. I was surprised when I pulled up on how big it really was. The whole upstairs is dedicated to international instruments. The downstairs has a celebrity section with some crazy names like Carlos Santana, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and more! I was in there for hours, and still didn’t see everything! They also had a really cool bluegrass exhibit when I went as well! I recommend this museum to anyone coming to the area, or in the area, or even if your a big music head like me! Included some images of the place as well! 10/10 place for all ages, and a really informative, yet fun experience as well!
Love love love this garden! It is a $25 admission charge, I feel that it is expensive for the small size of this place. I thoroughly enjoyed it, so wasn't too worried about the price after. The whole area around the botanical garden, Papago Park and Hole in the Rock are fun to visit so make a day of it! We packed food and water and explored each area, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Phoenix!
Considering that the museum is of musical instruments, it is larger than I expected it to be. Very immaculately curated with instruments from every corner of the world.
The geographic arrangement along with a proximity enabled audio tour is well orchestrated. As soon as you arrive at a display your audio tour connects to the correct audio allowing you to hear the instrument being displayed. Fading as you walk away only to connect to the next display. Very well done!
One could spend a full day easily. We did.

Amazing landscapes and cacti, beautiful well kept litter free trails, tons of docents around to help you out, lots of bathrooms and water stations, and we got to see some hummingbirds!
We absolutely loved this garden, so different from what we are used to coming from Hawaii, but beautiful in a completely different way. Very highly recommended!

Even on a Sunday before a holiday and after a rain the garden was able to accommodate all of the people. There are plenty of trails and separate spaces to explore. The signage is aplenty and each time I was curious about a cactus name there was information nearby. There is art incorporated all over the garden, from ceramics, to sculptures, to architectural installations. The sundial is one of my favorites.
Regular guests parted and smiled as a wedding party and guests in spectacular botanical themed dresses and suits headed to their event. There was a wonderful sense of community. People coming out all for different reasons ready to be immersed in the wonder of the desert.

It was good but my brother in law was in a rush to see the newer engines and there weren't many from the modern era. Lots of patches, love the computer search terminal. Could use more interactive things for adults.
The Desert Botanical Garden was amazing with the various species of desert plants, cactus, & the natural desert landscape that surrounds the Botanical Garden. There is a fairly inexpensive restaurant as well. Perfect for families, the elderly, & handicapped with strollers, wheelchairs, & motorized wheelchair scooters for a small fee.
Thoroughly enjoyed the visit, but be prepared to walk the trails & see the quails running wild. Low cost entrance fee makes for a fun Day Trip.

Beautiful gardens that I'm sure are magnificent during spring and the peak blooming season! You could easily spend a half-day or full day exploring these unique desert habitats and environments. Many plants are labelled and there are some information boards throughout the gardens, but I think that it would be helpful to have a lot more. For this reason, I think most people would probably enjoy and benefit from a tour, which happen at 9/10/11 am respectively. I was disappointed not to receive any info about the tours when we checked in; we were just handed a map and told to enjoy. Granted, we did go on a FREE day (second Tuesday of every month) and it was very busy. It was actually uncomfortably busy for us arriving at midday, and we were tripping on people for the first hour or two. Nearly all the grounds are stroller-, wheelchair- and mobility scooter-friendly since the garden paths are all paved or dirt-packed. I don't know if I would pay full price to come here, at just shy of $65 USD for 2 adults and a child. I wish there was an affordable option for kids under 5. It always seems like a cash grab when young children are charged at high rates for activities that are largely aimed at adults. All that said, I'm so glad there is a free community day available. I'd recommend arriving either in the early morning or late afternoon if you want a quiet, slower pace for your garden explorations.
Absolutely loved my visit to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix! 🌵🌸 A mesmerizing oasis of natural beauty with stunning cacti, diverse wildlife, and a serene atmosphere. Highly recommend for a rejuvenating and nature-inspired escape.
They had a Halloween event for kids. We took our 2 year old and he had a blast trick or treating. We loved seeing and learning firefighting history.
Very cool visit. First off though…this is a big museum. If you want to see and read and interact with it all..leave yourself at least two days. If you can navigate topically through it, a full single day.
Well presented, good use of technology with their headsets. Hands on space for kids. Good was museum pricing, but really good and good quantities. Will be back for sure just to finish it!

The two gentleman Bob and George working the desk were so knowledgeable, fun, and happy to help! The museum was clean and very visitor friendly. The bathrooms were clean, the place is very wheelchair accessible, and very easy to get around the museum.

What an absolutely FANTASTIC museum!!! Every time I visit Phoenix I make sure to visit as many of the museums as I can, and this gem has definitely become my favourite!
I was greeted by Bob, and what a wonderful volunteer he is! So friendly and welcoming, and so much knowledge! He clearly absolutely loves the museum and being there and it showed. He saw me wandering through the exhibits a few times and would come over and show how certain of the fire trucks would have worked and explained how they operated. He is an absolute credit to your museum. Thank you for making my visit such a great one!

The musical instrument museum was well organized and thoughtfully laid out it included a variety of instruments from every and any country you could think of! We were there 2 hours but you could easily spend 3 hours there. We were directed to start with the Asian and African exhibits progressing to Europe and the United States. I would have liked to spend more time in the European and United States exhibits. Next time I will start there first. Highly recommend going here.
This was my first time ever seeing a place that specifically honors a group of first responders so it was an honor seeing this. My queen Revonna and I visited this place and thanked the firefighters for their services. I took photos and videos but they shortened my videos since they were too long, unfortunately.
Museum actually closed all summer but Google says it's open. We drive 20 miles just to kiss the gate and come back
A beautiful botanical garden filled with desert plants, which isn’t like most botanical gardens.
It was hotter than hell the day I went but there are good spots to sit and relax. There are also plenty of water fountains throughout. A beautiful art exhibit as well (thru March ‘24).
The butterfly exhibit is a highlight.

I really enjoy this hidden gem. It's got ac, isn't crazy expensive and offers a deep history on a very niche topic that you're unlikely to find elsewhere. The staff are attentive and educational for any questions.
I've been twice now with kids ages 4-13 and while the 13yr olds interest are waining he finds the historical story telling interesting. Even some interactive trucks and kids areas for younger ones.
Tons of fire trucks, tons of history behind firefighting, their techniques and tools. Homage to those fallen in the line of duty. Specific remembrance for those at ground zero. Additionally details and vehicles from the Hot Shots who lost their lives.
Once again highly recommend.

Not all science centers are the same! This one is incredible with how many exhibits and hands-on activities it has. There are 3 parking garages around the science center. Families with small children will have so much fun, but so will tweens and teens! This is a 4 level science center with an option of using an elevator or stairs. Each level has a restroom and water station. There is a live demonstration on Level 2, which was super informative! Adult ticket prices are $15 after 1 pm for a limited time (the website didn't specify when this would expire so call ahead). Highly recommended!
Absolutely incredible experience. Music is such a large part of my life and this museum tapped right into my love of the arts. You will experience so many different cultures and time periods. I really loved the headphones that connected to the exhibits as you walk through!
If you love auto racing of any kind this place is worth a visit. Tucked in a Penske dealership. There are plenty of open wheeled and NASCARs to see. With tons of trophies up stairs. Even has a row of original Indianapolis Motor Speedway bricks.
For an Aussie it was great seeing Scott McLaughlin's 2018 championship winning car. It sure looked tidier than when he finished the post race burnout. Also cool seeing Will Power's car and the rest of the Penske collection.
I had an awesome time at the science center. So many cool things to see and do! Loved the interactive exhibits and the planetarium show was mind-blowing. Great for all ages. Definitely worth a visit!
I went to the Hall of Flame Fire Museum, and it was really cool! It's all about fire trucks and firefighters. They have a lot of old fire engines, and you can even sit in some of them. There are neat exhibits about the history of firefighting and the gear they use. They showed how firefighters help people and save the day. My favorite part was the big room with all the fire helmets from different places. They had cool designs! If you like fire trucks and learning about heroes, this museum is a fun place to visit.
Super neat, fairly small, but it was free. I always enjoy seeing info on my Home Town Unsers!
What an amazing experience. Very educational. The staff are so kind, welcoming, and friendly. Security was so nice opened the door for all visitors entering. Just Amazing!
It's a small museum attached to a Ferrari dealership with some pretty awesome race cars. The docent was very friendly and knowledgeable answering my questions about the cars thoroughly.
As a lifelong Mark Donohue fan, it was great seeing his photo upon entry. I think Mr. Penske is probably one of our modern day 'Captain of Industry'. Men like him could really straighten out this country!

I work for an organization with DDD adults with behavioral issues and disabilities in group homes. We have a learning program and wanted to take a field trip to the planetarium. We were there and at the door of the planetarium with most of our group and were told we could not go in because it had already started. It was a safety hazard. This was our whole purpose of being there. Then they pushed us off to some exhibit and a Jane Goodell documentary, which of whom my clients knew nothing about. I feel we wasted 300 dollars and did not receive anything we set out for. The personnel are very rigid and unprofessional and unforgiving to the point where my clients felt they were doing something wrong. I wanted to come back for other sections of our learning program and possibly bring their van packages to our buildings, but after today's session, we, meaning i, just might never deal with them again.
Well worth the stop to see the museum and local dealers next door. Very cool place

This review hurts to write because I want the science center to be enjoyed by others and receive more funding however I cannot recommend paying to visit currently. The exhibits were not well maintained, the amount of stuff to do was very lacking and it just was not an entertaining time sadly. I would love to see more funding to make this place awesome and fun to visit but it is very far from that currently. I would look at the childrens museum for younger kids and for older kids maybe the Legoland discovery center.
Wonderful place. The exhibits are fun and entertaining. Spent about 3 hours here and it was great! The Expedition: Solar System Planetarium thing was fun! It can get cold in there tho. There's a fun bubble exhibit thing (outdoor) and it looked fun (we didn't go) coz the kids (other Ppl's) looked like they were having a blast. A lot of interactive exhibits and even a love show/experiment/showcase. Definitely entertaining for both kids and adults. The bike thing was closed so we didn't get to try.
A fun place to visit for the entire family. Great selection of race cars. The connected high-end dealerships were also fun to look at the inventory on the showroom floor.
Fun free museum for car and racing lovers. I'm not either of these things but still enjoyed the history and the photos. The little boys and adult boys loved it. We will have to return on a weekday when the upstairs cafe is open as it looks like they have miniature car models to view. We also just missed the 3rd Saturday of the month coffee and cars that ended at 10.
This place is incredible! 👍 Every exhibit seems to be interactive and challenges the kids to think while still having fun and laughing and playing. 😋 Every parent should take their kids here. 😉 There's actually not enough time in a day to see and interact with every science exhibit. 😊

Hidden in plain sight the Penske Racing Museum is nestled in between the high end auto dealerships of the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, etc. Fantastic racing history. Actual Indy car, Nascar and F1 race cars both old and new. Surprisingly impressed. You can also tour the adjacent car dealerships. All for free.

It's a small tiny gallery which takes no more than 15 minutes at most to look at (and that's if you are reading all the signs and taking your time to look at each photo). If you breeze through it, it could take 2 minutes to walk through. The size of it was like a small office. They had a few photos and framed paintings (?). Next to some of them, there were plaques with interpretive text. The room also had an encased small sculpture, and at the far end, there were some pieces of glass.
Keep in mind: this is not open to visitors who are checked in through security- you have to actually be in the terminal to see it. Really, it's just a way to pass some time while you wait for your flight.

Great little museum with a lot to see. Take your time and read the displays. So much information I didn't know about. They are only open for a few hours on the weekends and are closed during the summer. It's free, but please leave a donation.
The show was very entertaining. This year's performers were amazing. The specialty cocktails were tasty. And of course, the art was exceptional. I can see why this show has been running all these years.
Great experience at the AMM. Museum has many eras from the Spanish War up to Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a veteran I was impressed at the amount of detail and all the interesting facts on the walls! The Vietnam War section was my favorite.

Unique place in Phoenix to visit with lots of other attractions and restaurants nearby. I often stop by as they have shaded benches to sit. If you are looking for a portrait photography location, this offers some nice backgrounds with brick, flora and wood structures as options.
Working to prepare for reopening. In meantime searching for Alumni of Carver High School to be honored w/ luncheon or dinner. If you know Carver High alum let me know how to contact them.

The actual gallery was unspectacular to put it in a friendly way. There are several art pieces scattered throughout the museum, this particular location it's not worth visiting, better to just walk around.

It was inspiring and featured great information on the history of Black people's plight in this country. Also, reading the history on display regarding George Washington Carver and all he has contributed to America was great. I recommend anyone who enjoys knowing about historical events must visit this museum.

Excellent snapshot of the rich history of African Americans. The artifacts are amazing and Princess our tour guide was very knowledgeable! We can't wait to see the vision of the museum fulfilled!
Wonderful showcase of unique art at the airport. Wonderful to see that the desire for always more retail was suppressed in order to bring an art gallery to the terminal in addition to other displays spread throughout the terminals.
The George Washington Carver Museum is a wonderful event space AND educational landmark. Galleries, art, culture and history can be found all wrapped in a historical location filled with 92 years (as of 2019) of stories and energy. If you have an event, this is a great place to support. If you're curious about the history and culture visit or donate to support - you'll be glad you did!
Well executed, beautiful and thought provoking art. Plus, Alwun House has been a staple of the arts community since the mid 70's, and deserves all the accolades they get.
A great space with a small batch of fine art exhibitions, which makes the entire terminal more vivid than other usual airports in the world. Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is Fefinitely the best airport I ever seen!
Had a wonder experience the displays of antiques and art work were amazing. Everyone was so friendly. I will definitely return to see the Buffalo Soldier exihibit when it's completed. Go by and check out the library, the collection of books are great!
Visited August of 2018. Disappointed would be an gross understatement. Pulled up to see a tattered flag outside flying proudly - not the best first impression. Inside, staff was slow to greet and quick to disappear after a brief set of directions. The exhibits themselves were.....thin. 90% of the items had no detail or explanation written whatsoever. Whole sections of rooms were empty. Some displays felt truly random, like the Phx Sports section in the corner. There were whole pictures sitting on the floor instead of being displayed. The very last section had info about GWC that was hanging, but most could've easily been found in a textbook. I enjoyed the room that held AZ military officer documents; it was the lone bright spot in a very dim saddening experience. Excluding the (very few) personally handwritten items of Mr. Carver, and the beautiful statue outside, this felt like a waste of time. The museum was absent of all technology: no soundbites, no videos, no nothing. We walked through in 20 minutes. It was also insufferably warm in some parts of the building. This establishment is in desperate need of TLC and modernizing.To conclude: Would a recommend this museum to others? No.
Definitely stop my if you have extra time! You pass it for arrivals and departure.
Visited in January and though a little difficult to locate, it was interesting enough once we did. FREE (they do accept small donations), not huge, but definitely worth the visit. Getting a close look at the vehicles/helicopter was very cool.
Hermoso museo
Super strange layout in the Southwest section. As soon as I exited my plane and in to the airport, I was directly met by rows of seating. It was like we got off of the plane to sit in strangers laps. Weird! It was a maze for a mouse in there trying to get through people to the main area. Never seen this before in an airport.
Great place with a dinosaur exhibit I took my children to see
This place was really awesome. Located on a military reserve base and OCS for the Army, it adds to the military feel. The tour guide was amazing and took his time explaining in detail each event and showcase as well as answering questions. Covers everything from the Spanish War and beyond to include Civil War, WWI, WWII, Operation Iraqi Freedom, etc. Teaches you about the rough riders, Navajo code talkers, blacks in the army, uniforms worn, the native Americans in the military, and a whole bunch more.
Make sure to bring something to drink with you however, as I didn't see any vending machines or water fountains, however I could have just missed them. It is also not temperature controlled so it will be a little warm on the inside. It is handicap and wheelchair friendly.
