It was a great variety of orders, also from Asia and Africa, not only Europe. You can follow very old orders and how they develop into the present. This museum was more interesting than I imagined at first.
They also had a special Napoleon exhibition with a signed document by Napoleon.

This place was great to see all stuff and very interesting history! Staff he was very nice!! I could see old stuff from my country aswell here.
The Museum was actually closed but the guide made an exception and let us in. It's a beautiful place, full of history and interesting pieces are displayed. We enjoyed our little private tour. Thank you! 😊

Not really impressive exhibition, just models of few buildings for fair 10€. But the shop has good and nice postcards and some swag, which may be interesting as souvenirs

Small museum in old town. Museum consist of 2 floors and small courtyard. Staff speaks passable English and French. Info is also available in English. Enjoyable visit.
I came across this with only a few hours remaining of my Tallinn Card and it was well worth it! Having studied history I knew what orders were but I have such a better understanding now, of how they evolved from elite noble clubs to orders of merit, thanks to Napoleon. The spellbinding collection covers many centuries and all continents of the world, showing you how knighthoods and orders became as essential as flags and national anthems, extending even to the non-Christian and the communist countries. The museum covered little area but I spent 1 1/2 hours in there because I wanted to learn everything about it.

Excellent! Until September 2024 they have an immensely informative exhibition about the past and possible futures of the Linnahall structure on the third floor.
I left the museum feeling quite disappointed, to be honest. There wasn't much to see, the second floor was closed off during my visit. It felt like a wasted opportunity and left me wishing I had spent my time elsewhere.

The best Health museum that I have been to. Every room was filled with interesting exhibition. There was interactive games with sounds. Every step there was interesting. Musem is very cool in that price.
Small museum. Big disadvantage is that not all the exhibition was translated to English.
But big advantage is that it is really good for children. So if you plan to visit Tallin with children it is a good place.

This place is nice and interactive, perfect for kids! There's plenty of science and educational content that's easy to understand. Plan for at least 3+ hours here, it's big, and there's so much to do and try. Plus, tickets aren't too pricey!
The exhibition is on three floors. You can get to the 2nd floor with an elevator, but the 3rd is only accessible via stairs. The first floor is the permanent exhibition with lots of scale models of important buildings, the other floors are for temporary exhibitions. Currently, the 2nd floor had a Japanese architecture exhibition, and the 3rd floor had local postmodern architecture.
Stunningly well-curated museum. It tells such a compelling story through its artifacts which are really playfully arranged. I loved exploring the different levels of the exhibits (in physical space), and really enjoyed that half the museum was dedicated to more artistic objects and the other to more functional ones, but in both areas there was a real wit and charm to the design. Definitely recommend a visit.
What a fabulous museum. The exhibits were very well thought out, and interesting. You can use the Tallinn Card for entry here. There are a lot of stairs.
Interesting to learn about famous Estonian musicians and theatre performers. Favourite parts: Tallinn and Helsinki Theatre Actors annual football match, some hybrid musical instruments made by some ingenious inventors. Don’t miss the walk up the tower. There’s a combo ticket with Estonian History Museum in the Great Guild Hall so if you’re planning on both it works out better. 18 euros for both when I went.
Very interesting place. It’s rather small and with limited materials but it gives you a good idea of the history of Tallinn.
I am sure that if I understood either Estonian or russian then this museum would be interesting, however due to the very limited translated English exhibitions I would suggest giving this a miss if you do not understand Estonian/ Russian.
Though as a quick free Sunday museum it could peak some interest as there was bits about architecture, russian history in Estonia and some traditional russian type dolls on the 2nd floor.

An excellent collection of Estonian Design including breathtaking tapestries and fabrics, ceramics and glass wear, interior and graphic design, wonderfully curated and presented. An, at leat, two-hour visit packed with beauty and information.
Entrance fee is wayyy too expensive for the size of the collection. Even though the size of the museum is very small, they still had a lot of "filler" exhibits: e.g., a section with shelves full of boxes with QR codes for kids to scan.
Tallinn City Museum is located in the old part of the city. It depicts the history of Estonia's capital, showcasing artifacts, exhibitions, and interactive displays that bring the city's past to life: city boundaries and fortification, maritime transport, everyday life and dwelling, royal family belongings, exquisite collection of bags from 1900s. On the top floor is the 18+ section named the Indecent Tallinn.
You should visit the museum at least once during your trip to Tallinn, I especially liked the bag collection
Great Maritime Museum. Everything is protected very well. There are a lot of interesting things around for kids. The museum is very suitable for families.
The permanent exhibition, they have in the basement, is very nice. It does have some tiny problem areas like creaky mirrors and leaky pumps, but still good.

I think Natural History museum in Riga is better, much more to see.
An outstanding museum with expertly curated exhibits. We really enjoyed everything we learned and all the actual preserved bodies and human parts that were shown. Definitely spend more than two hours here, you’ll be surprised how much there is to see. Certainly recommend for all ages and travelers!
Really good food. Did eat just prior to christmas and the christmas dish was superb. The museum is also nicely built.

A museum and a library
One of the best museums of natural history we’ve ever been to! The displays are absolutely stunning, with incredible detail to the prepared animal and plant specimens and expert curation throughout. English audio tour that helps, although more signs could include languages other than Estonian. The fish tanks are humane and add a lively touch to the time you spend here. Five stars!

The museum is exquisite. There is something for everyone to do - there are interactive exhibits as well as videos and reading to do. All exhibits are provided in English, Russian and Estonian so it is accessible for a lot of people. Bathrooms are on most floors and the exhibits are all well lit, bright and, especially important if you're coming to Estonia in winter time, it's warm. There are places to put your coats downstairs. The staff at the counter were nice and made conversation - their English was flawless and they even charged my phone because I had run out of charge which was very kind.
The exhibits are amazing - so informative whilst being easy to understand. I learnt things I never knew about the skin, health and food.
I recommend this to all in Tallinn. The time and effort that has gone into ensuring these exhibits are well-rounded and informative whilst also being fun is incredible and deserves to be celebrated.

A nice little gem for history lovers. Very unassuming when you walk in, but the museum has four floors of exhibits. Don’t miss the basement or the top floor for 18+.

Very nice museum. I particularly enjoyed the 1936 submarine named "LEMBIT". seeing the vessle from the inside was quite the experience.
We spent around an hour in the museum. But if you like history you might stay for longer. Recommended in Tallinn👍

A nice way to get to know the history of Tallinn is a visit to the City Museum. English translations are available for all the exhibitions.

A very interesting museum located in an old three-storeyed building with wooden floor making a very pleasant smell. A lot of interesting exhibits made of wood, glas, metall, stone and fabric, most of which are from the 20th-21st centuries, in particular from the Soviet time. It is worth to visit this museum. The staff is very friendly.

You get to crawl inside a nealy 90 year old submarine called Lembit, it's pretty dope. Also there were Vikings.
It is worth visiting as their collection is good and interesting. However some of the display explanations were not good. The porcelain collection in the basement had each item numbered but there was no label anywhere that told you about it so it lacked context. There was only a general label on the glass that was for all the items in that display case.

To get out of the rain we went to the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design. It wasn't on our list but it turned out to be excellent.
It was eye opening to see some really beautiful items produced during Soviet times. We always picture a gray landscape devoid of quality consumer goods.

There are a lot of lovely restaurants, bars and cafés, as well as some breweries. Along with cute little shops and art galleries, it's a great place to spend a day.

This place was an industrial area probably was a factory here and today is a hipster neighborhood with many coffee shops and restaurants. Also, you can visit Fotografiska museum.

Delightful little museum, highly recommended. There are works on the facade so make sure you ring the bell - it IS open. Ask to see the 'nature takes over' exhibition toute in for a treat.

Huge place with a really large collection of everything from Submarine, anti air gun to costal defenses equipment
A must go in Tallinn. The hall alone is impressive and the submarine is very interesting to see from the inside. Also the ships outside can be visited in detail.
Very interesting and enjoyable, includes stuff like the history of Tallin, various objects from all kinds of ages (pottery, tin and etc.). Another floor explains all the different occupations and life of people more in medieval times.
The top floor also includes a 18+ exhibition.
Overall I'd definitely recommend.

Must stop in Tallinn. Super cool arts focused community in and around a bunch of old renovated warehouses and buildings. Breweries, art, shopping, food, play areas for kids, ice cream, murals and more. We spent an entire afternoon here, great spot!

Once an area of abandoned factory warehouses but transformed into a shopping and entertainment district with lively and hip cafes, shops, restaurants, bars, and galleries.

Great overview of the Estonian architecture!We got to see a temporary exhibition on reusing materials from ruins or demolished buildings. And a permanent? sensorial exploration of the architectural practices beautifully built and curated 🙌🏼
I was amazed. Seems quaint on the outside, but the inside is very interesting and definitely worthwhile! Beautiful expositions on all 3 floors. As an artist myself, I am inspired to cultivate my own craft!
Очень интересно! My Russian is pretty плохо and I have no Estonian, but the staff were very welcoming and helpful in explaining those parts of the museum that are solely in those two languages. The English précis on Wladovsky's work is nice, and seeing the plans of his buildings and his influence on Tallinn is fascinating.
It’s a free space where you can enjoy some graffiti if you like. There are food trucks and I had my best hamburger ever. The tacos we had was not that great. There are few pubs but it was full with people prolly because of friday. But people had a good time i can say.
I LOVED the traditional women’s clothing! Unfortunately, there isn’t much of anything else in this museum. I was hoping to see how Russian life is like in Tallinn and if any Russians contributed to Estonian businesses & history. There is potential in this museum if people took more time to invest their time and energy.

It was a real good feeling to see and touch the preserved real animals without getting scared. Very well maintained. I think it's a nice place to visit for all ages. Duration of visit is 2 to 5 hours, it depends on how deep you want to understand the nature.
Surprisingly great museum for Design and Designworks throughout estonian history until the present.
Well curated and nicely exhibited. The works give a great deep look into the heritage and development of the local design history in various fields (pottery, metal work, jewlery, furniture, aplliances, …).

We had TallinnCard and there were no problems to get in. Lady at the enerence was nice and she explained to us that there is qr code for audio guid. I found that very useful. Museum is very nice, there is a lot too see and as i said there is audio guid next to every display. I would recomend it both for kids and grown ups!

Nice and interesting museum. It includes a lot of information about the history of the city of Tallinn. It is easy to spend a couple of hours navigating yourself around. The number of the artifacts and the exhibitions is big and the information provided in the texts is sufficient. The location is perfect inside the old town and for sure worth a visit.
Some very interesting parts & moving pieces of music. Disappointed that one display video didn't work - the 2001 Eurovision winner & Arvo Pärt!!
This is a beautiful small museum located in a historic building in the old town of Tallinn. I have visited it today for the first time, the entrance was free because of the museum’s anniversary. The museum has three floors, exhibitions include (but not limited to) glass, textile, furniture. I truly enjoyed the top floor showing examples of modern and ancient Estonian furniture. I also liked the idea of additional double-floor wooden constructions for exhibitions on the second floor. Also, the museum has a very cozy inner yard with benches and tables, sadly no coffee is served :) Overall, the place is small, you spend here at most an hour. I think it was totally worth visiting the museum.
Lovely. They have a permanent expo on the history of photography and photographs in Estonia, as well as 3-4 small, changing exhibitions.
Their shop has a small very fancy selection of designer cards, books and handbags. Highly recommended.
The chairs are scary high- it was a true climbing effort for those kids. So if you are older or are with small kids- be prepared.
I make sure I check them out every half year or so, preferrably on one of the museum days.

A cosy small museum but a very interesting one. If you go there, you will find out a lot about the history of photography and have a chance to enjoy an exhibition. The building where the museum is located is rather old and it fascinates as well.

Unfortunately it is quite empty and do not attracted my attentions. It is not targeted to international people since it doesn't have any english translations or guides that help tourists during the visit. I hardly believe I will come back to visit it again. A positive thing it is located centrally but lack of historical and cultural russian elements. The museum administration has forgotten how rich is Russian's history and culture giving instead to the tourists a spoiled picture of it.
The former salt warehouse used today as an art and architecture museum. The museum's permanent exhibition introduces the development of Estonian architecture through different years. Temporary exhibition during my visit showed the architects' vision of the houses of the future through contemporary art. I would say that this museum is much more like an exhibition space - for a museum it lacks interactivity.
Underrated historical landmark
Very interesting expositions with great additional explanations from the lady working on the second floor (not sure she can English though, probably just Estonian and Russian). Especially eye-catching was the hugh centerpiece of a copying machine from 1930s. We've come a long way, indeed...
The location was also with an interesting architecture, situated in a house used as a prison during the middle ages.
In addition to the examples of photography equipment from the olden days, there are also modern photo exhibitions. I liked a lot the shooting session Sirli Raitma had done of her mother, very fun and enjoyable :)

The 2 folks working there were very nice and as I came late the guide invited me on an express tour of the museum.

This should be a wonderful experience for those interested in history, decorative art and for all lovers of beauty.

Extraordinary museum to know about cultural traditions of Estonia. Quite interesting and funny!
Had a nice time inside. The place is small, but you can play with different instruments. If you know how to open and play a piano, you can use the Estonia concert piano in the exhibition room.

I would say that there are not much things to see in this museum comparing to similar museums in other european cities. But the entry is free with the Tallinn card so if you hold one, and also have some time to spend, why not visit it?

An incredible museum with a very large private collection of regalia spanning across centuries. The audio guide is available in English and staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Located across the road from Old Hansa in the heart of Tallinn's old town the Museum if Orders of Knighthood should be one of your first stops when visiting. The giftshop has some great gift ideas and memorabilia to take home. Thanks to the lovely staff who early live their job. What an absolute gem!
Quality time. 100 buildings explained at 2. floor. Miniature makett houses at first floor. Drawings at 3. floor. Nice activity room for children and library for educational purposes. Building itself is impressive, convieniently close to city centre.

The quality of the exhibits and interactive displays are astounding. Everything is clean, up to date and well maintained and cared for. The young lady on reception was extremely nice, friendly and happy to discuss and chat with us about the museum. The toilets were clean and the whole experience here was good. Will recommend to others.

Wonderful museum tells the history of photography in Estonia. Always interesting temporary exhibitions. Located on the premises of an old jailhouse which is an interesting experience by itself. Some places might be hard to navigate, as it is a medieval building.
Little museum, which gives info about photography history in Estonia. One room shows the development of photography and famous photographers in Tallinn and Estonia. Second room has shelfs with different old cameras. Then there are rooms with different exhibitions of modern photographers.
We had a guided excursion, which was very interesting, as the guide could give much more info, than it was written there. Also the guide told us a lot of interesting stuff about old cameras standing on the second floor of the museum.
I would definitely recommend visiting this museum, if you are interested in photography history. But the guided tour would be more informative, than just walking around on your own.
