It was lovely today to be out in the courtyard to enjoy this yummy spread. The meat platter was delicious and cooked to perfection. The brisket literally melted in your mouth.
Service was good. Even though we were out in the courtyard and were the only ones there, the staff member attending to us was attentive and we never had to wonder where they were when we needed something. That's ace in my books.
Will definitely come here again.

My wife and I dined here on Tuesday night, and being visitors to Melbourne we thought it was well worth the walk out of town.
The place wasn’t full but there were enough people dining & at the bar to give it a buzz & atmosphere. The smells of smoked foods were everywhere 👍🏻
We had a sharing platter with smoked sausage, brisket, chicken & pulled pork with two sides and we could hardly finish it. We can heartily recommend the food here.
We didn’t have a drink at the bar but it seemed lively enough.
All-in-all, a good evening 👍🏻

Great atmosphere with lovely interior, lighting, and a cozy fireplace. We tried the beef brisket, smoked eggplant falafel sandwich, potato salad, and chili bean fries. While the vibe was nice, the food was average for the price, and mains didn’t come with sides. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return for the food—better value at any average pubs.
BBQ wasn't bad, can't say it's great, but the sides were excellent, albeit a little overpriced. The place has a great feel to it but the lighting was getting darker and darker we could barely see what we were eating in the end...
I really love the gem, it has such a wonderful atmosphere and it's one of my favourite places to see a gig and spend time with friends. Recently they've changed the menu though and it's been a massive disappointment. The food (particularly the chicken tenders i would share with my best friend) was one of the things I looked forward to most when going there! The new BBQ menu is inconvenient to eat in a busy pub environment, not as tasty and not worth the price. I've talked to so many friends and about this change and everyone agrees that its a massive downgrade!
Fantastic smoked meats, salads and sides that changes seasonally. Always the sign of someone clever in the kitchen. Staff are great, so affordable it makes most pubs look like complete amateurs, this is a must if you like good old fashioned service in a grand old pub. Just go and visit....... dare ya😉

Great atmosphere pub with good food, and a nice exterior "castle like" stone aesthetic. It can get pretty busy at peak, and sometimes it can be difficult to get a drink at the bar because they're so overrun, but the bands are good. I personally like going on Thursday nights when it is not AS busy, and they have a free Improv Comedy show upstairs. Great to grab a drink and have a laugh at no extra cost. Saw a show there the other night, and it was hilarious.

5 stars! The new kitchen is amazing! Probably the best pub food you can get around now. Quality food at an affordable price. Humble, real, unpretentious staff, friendly and honest service.
Popped in Anzac. Was quiet when we got in but filled up quickly. Riley and Liam were great chat behind the bar. Food was pretty tasty. Cornbread spot on. Even better was running a happy hour on a public holiday.
Great live band venue. Cool vibe. Saw Emilee South, Mansplainers and Hot Glue. Highly recommended.
Best service and drinks in Melbourne. Hospo pros. Love everything about the vibe and essence of this pub. My top fav in Collingwood.

The only problem with the mushroom truffle croquettes is that I want about 4 plates worth to myself.

There aren't many foods that I would say have too much flavour, but the chicken burger came close. It was extremely rich. That said, it was also a bargain at 15 bucks! It was also huge. So you really get a good deal, especially since you can't really score a full dinner at this price anywhere else. The venue is nice too, with a great range of beers and great tunes. If I'm ever this way again I'll be sure to drop in.

Ordered the vegan Parma which was eggplant for $20 on Tuesday Parma night. Came with chips and a sad passing of what they referred to as salad. Chips were crispy enough with skin till on. Eggplant was crispy on one side but pretty much mush for the rest. Had a strange almost plastic like taste to it too. Might have been the vegan cheese. Definitely had much better eggplant parmas elsewhere.
Ordered the calamari with Sichuan pepper for $18. While it was tasty and crispy enough, the serving amount was incredibly small for the price.
Was still hungry after both so had to walk down to huxtaburger to grab a $10 burger on tight Tuesday.

Upstairs with about 45 guests and has the best time. Excellent food and service and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a venue for a party.
The Grace Darling hotel has some good food n' drinks. And fantastic service.
The barman recommended the spring chicken dish, and he was spot on. Chicken dinner, chicken winner.

We had a lovely roast of the day meal - everything very tasty and generous size for (I think) $28 pp. Well worth it to visit.
One of our party had a large drink spill and they moved us to another table and thoroughly cleaned up - all with no fuss.

I held my bridal shower this afternoon in the Bobby room upstairs at the Hotel Collingwood. I can’t speak highly enough of the venue and it’s team. The event coordinator, Mary was lovely to deal with and responded in a timely manner to all correspondence. She was very accommodating. We had Brandon and John looking after us today and they were fantastic. They were very accommodating to all of our requests and very friendly and courteous to all our guests. I hope management acknowledges these two men for their fantastic service. My guests had a wonderful time and raved about the service and food. I highly recommend this venue for holding your future event.

Quality of food was poor, grilled fish on menu turned out deep fried and batter was rubbery, no salad included. Vegan bangers and mash was floating in a very salty stock and a vegan burger was over cooked. Would not return there again
Very friendly pub. Good for families which is unusual in pub the close to the Melbourne CBD. Oh, and they have Guinness on tap.

Came here on the Tuesday steak night, $25 with chips and salad. Steak was really well cooked perfect medium rare paired with really great chips as well. Didn't expect too much for a pub but definitely delivered on food quality comparable to alot of other places that charge premium prices.
Very nice pub with the best staff. Happy our drinks are very cheap and their Parma is really good and big .
I would also highly recommend grilled fish and chips.

My partner read a review that they had the best chicken Parma in Melbourne and it was pretty darn good. Deck is not pretty. Chairs wobbly.
Quite a small venue for gigs, second floor doesn't have air conditioning or fans.. seriously hot in humid weather

A very small venue, lots of spots dont have a great view of the stage but the atmosphere is great and the bar/building itself has a lot of character
Loved this experience! Went for birthday Sunday lunch & the menu, service & food was excellent. We left very happy & feeling very welcome.
I rang to see if I could bring my dog (as we were seated in the courtyard). When we arrived, there was a little dog treat & water bowl for him to welcome him. Very nice touch.

Had our Christmas lunch upstairs and staff were outstanding. Thoroughly enjoyed my steak and dessert. Really cool joint. Had such a great time that I couldn’t provide any photos except the one I took 😉🍺
I've only visited the Gem a few times but there's this incredible looking man, I think they call him Rhys, he's always making these Mexican latte shots that the crowd goes wild for. It's all they talk about, and "Rhys' Mexican latte are the best", "Rhys Mexican Lattes cured my depression", "I'm having babies with Rhys' Mexican latte and I hope they look like him". I can't wait to try one!
Attended a queer event upon arrival didn't seem queer welcoming.Made the mistake of going early for food and listening to heavy rock music in the background. Once the event started the venue did become a safe queer space
Our band played the Gaso and had a blast! Super friendly, great sound, atmosphere and food.
I really enjoyed it here.$40 to see 3 bands is excellent value. Really friendly staff as well.my only criticism is why have four fans in the venue and not turn them on on a warm night? Do they do that so people will drink more? I don't know. But I will go back there for sure.
I visited The Gem Bar on a random Tuesday arvo. It was a really nice sunny day and everyone was sitting outside. I really enjoyed sitting out the front and I was very happy with the food selection. I got some cocktails and snacks. It was a nice venue to catch up with some friends and enjoy the sunshine.
We came to see Jacqui Lumsden and I have to say this is the coolest small-mid venue I've ever seen live music at!!! The whole ceiling opens up so you are standing there watching great musicians under the stars!!
The bartenders are on fire. So fast, super attentive, great recommendations. We didn't eat food, but the drinks were solid. Looks like they have great bands coming through pretty often and it would be worth it even if you didn't know the band was going to be good like we did!!

This place is great apart from the bar staff who are full of attitude and not overly friendly... They also tend to ignore you when standing at the bar... Also, when you ask for a pot of beer, they give you a pint instead...and you have no choice but to pay for a pint. Otherwise, the bands are great - especially on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon, and the food is good...

I only came here for a comedy show but it's a nice venue for it, the bar atmosphere might not be my thing but would have to go again to judge
I stumbled upon this pub one evening after experiencing some serious cravings following a long day of wandering around Melbourne's CBD. I gotta say, the burgers here were nothing short of exceptional, and they easily rank among the best I've had in quite some time! Not only were they incredibly delicious, but they also captured the quintessential essence of an American diner experience (the tofu burger especially was probably the best veg alternative burger I've ever had).
The cost of the burgers when compared to other options in the area was great value for money.
As a bonus, there was live music playing, which, and while not to my personal taste, undeniably added to the lively ambiance of the pub. The staff were friendly, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable.
No doubt, I will be returning to savour more items from their menu in the future. Kudos to the team for delivering such an outstanding dining experience. You've earned yourself a loyal customer!

The young dark haired bloke, seriously wouldn’t hurt to crack a smile mate. Would be really nice to be greeted by the bar staff, we weren’t greeted, just looked at, that was our queue to order? machine put in front of you, then taken away once paid. Most bartenders would ask; ‘what can I get you?’ No conversation, no thank you, no nothing. You need to work on your manners as your customer service was beyond lacking. I think some general friendliness would not go astray.. it’s not that difficult guys.

small venue for gigs and other performances, staff were lovely! only downside is it got really stuffy and hot, air conditioning etc is something i would probably improve on whilst artists are performing as it was a little uncomfortable temperature wise. other than that, no complaints! toilets are really cool as well
Great food, service and music. It’s really happening here for live music, mostly local and some interstate and international bands play here. Very eclectic mix (it used to be country). It’s a floor show venue and can get tight and in your face.

The Gem used to be a super trendy place to bend an elbow and pig out on American inspired fare. Alas, COVID has killed The Gem. My friends were the only people in the entire venue other than a single staff member who must have been bored as hell. Cocktails on the specials menu were not available and the menu presented little interest. I ordered the Corn Ribs which helped confirm that I won't be back to this place I used to love. Very sad.
Loved it. The food was reasonably priced and abundant. The girls ate schnitzel authentic chips and coleslaw, roast with mash and I had broccolini and beans. Tasty! Drinks and great conversation. Perfect for a Sunday lunch.
We went to see a comedy show near by but had time to have dinner. Thursdays they have steak night. Porterhouse steak with fries and salad for $22. Additional $8 if you want a glass of red wine. It was one of the best steaks I had. So moist and juicy. Just Devine. Service was efficient and good. It was very busy. There was a cool DJ playing some fantastic tunes. Highly recommended!
One of my favourite pups in the city, and simply had to take some out of town friends in for a pint. Had heard good things about the Parma so we decided this was the spot and boy did it not disappoint. This Parma is in my top 2 of all time. The chicken so so juicy, chips perfectly cooked and the sauce was magic. Well crumbed and generously portioned it is a must try. The Lamb looked solid too, so something here for everyone, and always great vibes in this classic Melbourne venue 🎶

Had a lovely dinner here last Monday night with some friends. Their $15 chicken schnitzel special was delicious and couldn’t resist adding the mushroom sauce to the order. Chicken was perfectly cooked and crunchy on the outside, the slaw was full of flavour and the chips were fresh with a little bit of spice. The atmosphere was great, felt like we had lots of space and it wasn’t too loud so could have conversations with each other with no issues. Highly recommend and keen to come back to try more of their dishes!

Visited this Hotel for the first time last night. Great interior space and very much in the cool vibe of Collingwood. Will come again for sure for happy hour. Don't bother with the app to get your last one before it closes as ours just froze. Go to the bar before it ends. Great selection of beers on tap as you would expect.
Great place for a beer and Friday lunch. Had the Chicken burger. Excellent. I even ate all the chips and I'm not a fan of chips. Great staff. Took a bit of time to come out, but that was probably because it was busy today. Had the Jerky Chicken burger today. Really enjoyed it. Could have eaten another.
Sunday roast special was very special. Generous portion and delicious. Friendly and attentive service. Fantastic choice of music with a good selection of the Stones mixed in.
The best thing I can say about this place is that it feels like home; warm, welcoming, cozy & friendly. Came here on a Tuesday night for $20 steaks and I was very satisfied; the T-bone steak is more on the thin side, but we’ll balanced with the delicious mushroom sauce. Excellent beers on offer, they have their own Fox lager on tap which I highly recommend. Love the decorations!

My partner had a vegetarian cottage pie w salad, n chips, and this was really good too, but I think my meal was a winner, haha.
I was so full, but we had a dessert to share. Ice cream and waffle. How retro.
This was absolutely delicious, a great homemade waffle, a not too sweet caramel sauce, and a creamy vanilla ice cream! A heavenly dessert. I eventually rolled out of there, so full, but for a $30 two course meal, this place is definitely worth travelling for!!

Great pub serving American style bbq complete with rock and roll songs. The place might look small from the outside but actually there's multiple rooms inside. The brisket and the chips are really good! The pork belly is soft but the sauce is a little too sweet for me.

I haven’t been back to their steak night for ages .. but it’s still tasty and good. Pretty quick as well considering they were quite busy. The standard is consistent. Definitely recommend to try their steak night. One thing that I need to bring up. They need to offer more desserts on the menu

came here for their steak night on Thursday. It was a delicious $18 steak, chips were crunchy and the sauce was tasty. Tonight (Monday) we came here for the lamb shank’s night. $15 with the mash and another $5 with a glass of red. We ordered chips and salads to share. Very good value and outstanding services. Highly recommended

Came here for their steak night again after my last visit 2 years ago! What a great service on our table .. We thank the girl who was looking after our table tonight. Oh and the steak 👍👍👍
Normally I go here for drinks, but last time we
came here for their steak night on Thursday. It was a delicious $18 steak, chips were crunchy and the sauce was tasty. Tonight (Monday) we came here for the lamb shank’s night. $15 with the mash and another $5 with a glass of red. We ordered chips and salads to share. Very good value and outstanding services. Highly recommended
One of the few remaining old school pubs with a band room. Great bar snacks, recommend the buffalo wings - fantastic. Friendly service, great beer selection and the surprise is the cocktail list with the old fav Espresso Martini. Good mix of locals and band followers (groupies).
Good range of tap beers and great range of bottle beers. Quality food. Friendly staff. Good interior with all kinds of different table options (low, high, small, big, quiet corner, central). Good music that isn't too loud. Whole stack of games to play.
