It is big and beautiful I love it!! And so do my daughters. Great place to take the kids.
The place is gorgeous but it’s $28 for an hour of parking and the clerk was so rude and wouldn’t give me a library card. They needed a damn arm and leg to get one verified. If it weren’t for how beautiful it was, I wouldn’t come back. But the selection was fantastic. Also, the children’s librarian was amazing.
A unique library that takes floors and floors below ground level. It has a unique architecture and was constructed started in 1925. It’s the 3rd largest public library in the United States. It has a mix of ancient Egyptian and Mediterranean Revival architecture.
Great library. Clean and well stocked. Computers available for use and lots of activities for adults and children to do.
I been coming to do my work for my legal cases but is sad the security guard female was already outside when I get here and they literally was waiting for me because I tried to park my tricycle outside because is hard for me to walk and before I park he told me to do not so I go downstairs to bicycle side and the female even go downstairs to watching me I hope no one damage mi tricycle I don't have concerns with the other's employees but how shame is
The Los Angeles Central Library is huge and spans the whole block. Even if you’re not an avid reader, it’s a lot of fun exploring the many floors and admiring the architecture of the building. The 2nd floor is where the beautiful ceiling is along with a small Getty Gallery. I wish I had more time to explore the library since there was so much to see.
They can’t stop disturbing u the whole 45 mins b4 closed hr. That’s too much. 30 mins then 15mins reminder is already a lot. Not very hospitable

A beautiful, historic building. Take the docent led tour. Times are on the website. The main vestibule has high ceilings painted murals and a chandelier made for the museum. The atrium add on has 8 floors, each floor is a different set of subjects. Parking was easy and the rate was excellent. The information desk is helpful, there is security at each entrance. If you decide to get a library card, the details for what to bring are online.
A vast and beautiful library housed in an impressive building. With four above-ground and four underground levels, it offers books on any topic imaginable for every reader. A special marvel is the creative lab open to all, providing free access to professional equipment and software, including 3D printers, laser machines, plotters, heat presses, sewing and embroidery machines, podcast studio, and a photography studio. An amazing opportunity not only to learn and be inspired but also to bring your ideas to life.

Amazing public library!! Is like a visual concept. You have to come and see it to understand it.Lots of security is a plus. Restrooms have a plumbing issues inside smells funky.
Fabulous research available. Only gripe is so many homeless people taking computer space and tables with electric outlets. Staff is wonderful and so helpful.
A quite clean branch hiding on 2nd floor is an opportunity for those children who dare to succeed spending extra hours doing something positive in a Chaotic environment neighborhood where poverty, starvation shoplifting & deprivation is very clearly Visible. Each & every block around & near by is ignorance type of helplessness_ hopelessness & disappointments are dominant factors which roar for A Victim child of this community crying for A clue of hope like A badly needed resource we call A LIBRARY taken for granted by many.

This is an absolutely gorgeous and beautifully maintained library. There is an extensive collection with many resources.
It is clean. Short-term free parking was easy to find. There wasn’t a long wait to use a computer. Printing was fast and easy. Staff were helpful and easily accessible for questions and directions.
I just needed to print some documents real quick while in the area. I totally forgot about the homeless/transient population until I walked into the library. It wasn’t as bad as I anticipated.
The only drawback was obviously the homeless and the smell. There are a lot of small rooms, dark without much ventilation so the odors were offensive. I have a sensitive noise and stomach so I became nauseous. I would go back with a mask and gloves. It’s disappointing that their aren’t any rules against vagrancy. It’s unsafe to be around unsanitary conditions. I didn’t see many hand sanitizer stations or disinfecting wipes—that are available at my home library branch.

A stunning building in the heart of downtown with endless educational resources and ample space. Four main floors split by subjects/themes, with plenty of resources from child to adult learning opportunities. Free tours of the library and architecture available throughout the week. Kind of warm - doesn’t seem to have much AC, and a decent amount of homeless that keep to themselves. There’s a beautiful historic rotunda you have to see! Some nicely manicured gardens outside too. Definitely worth a visit.
This library is one of if not the best resource for legal issues I found. They have several self-help resources and all of the employees I spoke with were well-informed. I spoke to different lawyers here and each of them helped to answer my questions. It is crucial to be informed in laws and your rights since a lot of people will tell you that something within your rights is “against the law” in ignorance so it is worthwhile to inform yourself in a place like this library. Knowledge is power and I am grateful for a place like this library that makes legal resources easily accessible. You are able to do 2 free sessions a year and they also have plenty of resources outside of that as well. I took part in zoom sessions, in-person sessions, phone calls and received answers sooner than lots of the other resources I was using before finding them. I would like to thank Roberta Ponce, Stephanie Osorio, and Nicholas for their knowledge and time. Also, compared to other places they were the most responsive. It is in downtown LA and the parking is available in several locations one of the closest is 221 W 2nd St and that parking lot is about 3 minute walk away, they have an entrance on broadway
Clean quiet place to study. Well, except for one woman's ESA that was whining, and another woman who was talking to herself in a menacing manner. Otherwise, it was quiet. It's the law library, so naturally has lots of legal books, city codes, etc. Plus, the architecture of the building is nice.
One of the best places to be in east LA. They have great children services and a lot of wonderful activities, crafts, story time for kids. Beat the summer heat and ease your mind while spending your time with your family in this library.
Just dropped by to pick up some reserved materials. The library staff is always so pleasant. The lake/park on the backside of the library is a pretty lil spot I can't wait to visit for some reflection/meditation time. Always a pleasure!
Reference / Research Librarians, Circulation Staff, and Copy Reproduction Personnel are very professional and extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about assisting you; and if they cannot, they will intelligently direct you to the right path to find resources elsewhere. Just do not expect anyone to hold your hand. It is not a law firm. It is a great resource to become familiar with any legal area before speaking to an attorney about your particular case. This library has more volumes than any other University law library that I have been to, and its shelves contain foreign law volumes too.
This is the best library in Los Angeles CA because it's quiet and the computer has pleading paper formats and forms for every legal need. I was my own attorney for most of the lawsuit BC710605 and the help from the staff kept my briefs looking professional. I won!

Very nice staff. For me the El Sereno branch library is conveniently located, easy parking, etc.
Tons of books, copier and fax machine, private reading room, helpful stuff however home to many homeless or near homeless people looking for payday.

Very unfortunate that this library has experienced various relocations and seemingly tossed around by the county executives at their whim without regard to the public need. How can they expect to foster an educated and successful generation of people without high focus on these resources which are hard to come by in areas like Florence/Firestone. The people of the community must make their voices heard. As a personal anecdote, I grew up going here and would not have been able to achieve my dream of going to a great university without the learning that took place in the Florence Ave. Building. Wishing the best for this space.
Rest in piece to my childhood library many memories been here since day one, they had to relocate due to gentrification. Sad life. Good to know they’re still holding up though.
There's a banner at the front showing "2019 Best Library! It's indeed clean and beautiful unlike some of the libraries where too many stinky homeless people are.
I used to come here alot to use the computers it's a nice quiet place its not that bad if you want to read books or do homework however the old man with the glasses he wears a Hawaiian shirt is rude try to avoid him at all cost if you ask him to look a specific book he will give you attitude
So sad that the library is gone, they just ripped us all out of this beautiful library just for greed of the LA county that will now build apartments. It was so wrong and unfair that we the residents did not have a say in it!!! Greet just greet they just all want green 💵💵💵💵never took the time to think the people children in south LA came here to read a book, use a printer a computer 🖥 due to low income students can’t afford to have one at home!! So discussed about the entire situation!!

I called this library to ask if they had a book available and after talking to the very helpful librarian on the phone I visited and had a library card, book, and smile on my face from the awesome service I received here from Karina ( sorry if I got your name wrong) and from having access to this great resource. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, clean quiet environment, available parking, all in all 5 stars. Thank you!
Not friendly.If looks could kill. Employees conflate all guests as suspected low socioeconomic. Not a safe comfortable feeling.
Awesome place. Nice looking building, packed with books. A ton of activities to do during the week. Story time on Tuesdays, sticking class game day. A bunch for the whole family to do. Plus knowledge is power so u can't knock down a library for being what it is.
I've lived in El Sereno well over fifty-years and I've gone to the old library's location...that library seemed old and run down and small so it was about time El Sereno added a new library...this library has a good selection of new books as well as some of the older stuff that probably made a move from the old library...it's always quiet but sometimes stuffy in here as the air-conditioner isn't always on, even in the cold months it's still warm and sometimes uncomfortable but that may just be me...the guy working the checkout desk is nice and gives good customer service, unlike some other libraries where the staff seems impolite and stuffy themselves...you can go here for the books or just to surf the Internet and you can spend a whole day here and immerse yourself with today's most popular literature...
So fast and easy to get a library card. Bring one of your bills with a California address, such as a water bill, phone bill. Tons or resources, computers/internet, free classes like English language classes and American citizenship classes.
I went there to do homework and the guy that helped me was so horrible he called me rude he didnt make me feel like i was welcomed i will not be going there and if you do go there dont go in the homework help section they are sooo rude/nasty people ughhh
The librarians are very nice to kids and they always do fun activities. The librarians are also helpful when you are doing your homework or a project. You can easily check out books easily.
The staff are super nice to talk to and it gets so busy Monday through Thursday! Overall it's a cool place to be when you need to check out books or when kids need help on homework because the volunteers are super nice!!!
