Nice small theatre, well presented and a great time was had!

Nice staff and a great wee theatre. Helped along by forth youth kids playing a blinder. Lovely evening, nice big bar, comfy seats. Can't complain!

Lovely little theatre in a gorgeous part of Edinburgh. Fantastic performance by an amazing cast. Staff are lovely and helpful. Will definitely be on the lookout for other shows so we can pay another visit.

Lovely theatre, well maintained and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, a real gem.

Gone to many shows here over the years and I've never been disappointed. Staff are friendly and do their absolute best to keep lines moving, as well as being super helpful if patrons need directions or questions answered. Theatre is clean and inviting, though balcony seats are a little tight but that is to be expected given the age of the building. Cannot recommend seeing something here enough.

This is great place to be connected to the amazing music shows. Recently viewed musical Jesus Christ Superstar. It's worth every penny! Highly recommended.

Great theatre it is always clean and so well organised by all the helpful staff for both attending and leaving efficiently. Some notes that might help people: There are multiple bars on different levels so if one is busy you can dry a different floor, and also when driving here if you park in the St James Quarter car park you can validate your ticket inside the Playhouse and parking will be fixed at £8, what a bargain.

Waren hier bei " The Magic of Motown". Grandiose Vorstellung in einem tollen Theater. Die Anreise aus Stuttgart - Germany hat sich gelohnt.

Whilst the performance was top quality, Swan Lake ballet, it was marred by the number of people allowed in after the show began, up to 20 minutes into the show! Also the number of people unwrapping noisy sweet wrappers, opening cans and bottles throughout the performance, phones going off and people moving and talking during the performance. There seems to be no understanding of theatre etiquette anymore. This is not a cinema, it is the largest theatre in the UK and should be world class. The artists are working hard to entertain, the least people can do is go an hour without food, drink and phones! Also seats are narrow and uncomfortable even for short people like myself, not a lot of legroom! There is not enough of a rake in the stalls and spent the whole evening moving my head to try and see the action on the stage due to tall people in front and not enough staggering of seats. Queues for the bathroom were huge and resulted in delays to people returning after the interval.

We were here the 12th Jan to watch Wicked.
The play was honestly amazing everything we could have dreamed of.
It couldn’t have been easier to get in, be seated and order drinks (we did have slight confusion but the staff were incredibly helpful and made the whole experience right for us).
We even have a staff member help us later on that night take our picture outside the theatre which was incredibly kind.

Great venue for great productions. Approximately 20 minute walk south of Waverley train station and plenty of taxis. Main line station handy to travel into to visit theatre. Most performances here are from high end performers on tour. Modern front glass facade with what looks like the original interior within, with a large orchestral pit.

Visited over Christmas to see a magic show! Kevin Quantum and friends. Lovely intimate, small venue. Very sizeable and busy bar also.

Attended for the Panto.
Change vs the normal location, but this is an excellent theatre.
Legroom is good, bars well serviced and audio internally are great
Secondly the cast for the Peter Pan pantomime blew it out the park! Excellent show all round, everyone should be proud of their efforts, ultimately showcasing a highly talented delivery of Scottish humour.

Amazing theatre! Great staff experience all round, both front of house and backstage! I was lucky enough to call this my home for 2 months while we perform at the Pantomime.
The best facilities and very forward thinking. We enjoyed performing a few relaxed performances to make it more accessible, including BSL, audio described and a touch tour!

The queues for all women's toilets looped round longer than a roller-coaster line at Alton Towers.
The security guard made snooty comments about how women queuing will miss the start of the second half after the intermission. The bell ringer laughed when she saw the never ending queue for the women's beckoning people to leave the line and take their seats.
A young girl vommitted in the middle of the queue as she was unable to access the bathroom in time.
Following use of the toilet, women were then told to wait until a break between songs before taking their seat... So a huge volume of people were it disturbed during the performance as a result.
Also, the bar offer drinks in fragile plastic cups which dented and popped - I saw several people get drinks spilled on them from rows behind due to this. Even festival theatre have branded hard cups. If you're going to charge £30 for 4 drinks, at least get a decent cup.
Finally, the seats aren't correctly alligned to allow comfortable viewing. As a smaller person I was underable to see past a woman's head directly in front of me dispute the lower tier. In other theatres it's comment for the rows to be staggered to prevent this issue.

Great auditorium, but I hope they have plans to improve and upgrade the toilet facilities soon. It was a torture to queue for the toilet during intermission. I can see the space for queueing was a big challenge spatially within the confines of the existing building, but improving the hygiene, facilities and finishes standards should be on their next major refurbishment list.

Saw a show here. Lovely little theatre, well laid out. Very disability friendly, with accessible toilets on both floors, and a lift up to the 1st floor, where the theatre itself is. Bar has ample seating, but prices are high, as they are in most theatres. Very attentive and friendly staff.

Beautiful theatre in Edinburgh Old Town. You can see some great performances there, including some by the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland.

Nice Theatre. There is plenty of leg room in our seats anyway. Section G in the Dress Circle (Floor 3). Never been a theatre with 2 dress circles and on 2 different floors. Seats were quite comfy. We think it needs a bit of a spruce up. The items at the interval are a lot cheaper than at the Playhouse. Ice cream was £1.50 cheaper. The view of the stage was good. Just unfortunate that the Play was not great. No fault of the theatre for that one.

Three of us went to see Aladdin on the opening night, staff were welcoming and friendly. We ordered ice cream to be bought to our seats at the interval, this was bought in a timely manner.
Toilets and general appearance is clean and tidy.
Fantastic transport options outside with both tram and buses arriving regularly.

A fantastic venue for shows, gigs and theatre. Helpful staff and great views make this a venue to return too.

Gorgeous architecture with some fantastic shows going on for a very reasonable price.

Came here to see a play about dentures but left a changed man Rue Richardson transported me through a heady mix of laughter love tears and all in between. Directorial phenome. The male actor wasn’t bad also

Outstanding. Innovative. Home of the great Mick. No other building in the world contains this much pure liquid charisma. Abandon all depression ye who enter here. I never want to leave.

I love Bedlam I’m gonna go give it a lil kiss rn

Loved the asbestos hole, great vibes

舞台虽然比较简陋,但是氛围还是不错的。

Fantastic venue, staff are really friendly, craft beer and ale on tap is lovely l. Visited during the fringe and had a great time

Been here twice. A place I never knew existed (but I'm new to Edinburgh). Good luck with whoever takes on this venue.

Came to see a Fringe show. Friendly front of house staff. Small theatre sizes allowing for intimate performances but they do get very warm!

Lovely , quaint little theatre with a nice bar. Friendly front of house staff. The Grandfathers is a great play, well acted. realistic. Well done guys.

This venue is old and decrepit, with creaky carpeted stairs and insufficient toilet facilities.
It's hot and stuffy and wholly inaccessible for people with mobility issues.
I've given it 2 stars. First for the cast of Legally Blonde. You guys absolutely nailed that show!
The second star is for the fringe staff who were attentive and friendly despite working in a modern day version of the Amityville house!
I've been told that the building is still in use as a Masonic Lodge. If so, it's about time some money was invested in it.
The location is fabulous and with a wee bit of creativity, and a good clean, it could be an all year round money spinning venture.

Such a great experience, the dance performance was amazing but had so much repeatation. It's definitely worth my time and money. Hopefully, they will introduce more of the comedy shows during the fringe festivals.

Great wee venue.I think it's an old masons building stretching back a few centuries. It created a good venue for the macabre play we were attending .It is a production we attended as part of the Edinburgh Festival.

I went to see Avenue Q with my mum I liked the show I know yous worked hard with the puppets but I think Nicky and Rod shouldn’t switch hair colours other than that I really enjoyed the show fantastic work and Christmas Eve was so lovely giving out wedding invitations.

Excellent venue run by an incredible staff!! The Adam Holmes show was such an unexpected treat and we were mesmerized!! We wish he’d move to Atlanta so we could see a lot more of his amazing talent!

Great venue. Some shows work better than others in this multi-floor venue.
Excellent front of house team, incredibly helpful.

The staff made us very welcome. Good prices for the drinks. Just a little too quiet for us to stay any longer

Fantastic show,Lot's of talent in this small venue. The new funny man Brian is awesome too 👏

Upcoming SoundHouse 'pop-up' Jazz / Trad Folk looking good - cheap tickets for all events, £15. They have put a lot of work into getting the place ready; quite a atmosphere created, should be an "in" place for this wet Festival!
Building has 3 venues, and a public bar with free music - also, the bars will be run by Edinburgh's best secret brewery, Bellfield, fab craft 🍻 beers
Check out SoundHouse's website for acts

I'm always impressed by how helpful the bookings staff are with people with disabilities. They really listen to what you need, and ensure you get a seat that matches your requirements. Greatly appreciated. 👍🏻
Only downfall is parking! 😢
So, as a disabled person, it's a nightmare to get there, but great when you do! 😊

Didn't go inside, but sat outside to enjoy some ice-cream. The outside area was wonderful and had a lot of light. It somehow felt apart of the street and secluded from it.
A lot of Rubbish tho.

I've only visited this venue twice. The first was during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the most recent for a Christmas dance event.
Although the first visit was OK, principally because it was to see a 3 man tap dancing show, the second visit was way less than satisfactory. It was to see a classical dance show that, after buying the tickets, had been transferred from its original venue. It was most definitely not suited to the venue and vice versa.
The auditorium was on the top level of the building. It had most uncomfortable seating (horse shoe shaped pew style wooden benches).
The stage was too small for the performance, with dancers clearly having to shorten their stride to stay clear of the edge of the raised stage. The basic scenery was an ill fit with poor masking.
I thought that I was going to be attending a professional standard performance.
At £34 per ticket, this can only be described as an overpriced amateurish event.

Beautiful 18th-century building originally built as a church. It was nearly converted to a hotel but saved by Edinburgh Unversity Theatre Company. I was told it is still hosting performance with a 90-seat capacity.

The new Bedlam Little Library is a super development for community integration for the theatre - I’ve made sure to take a book out of it every few weeks.

I'm bias as my grand daughter was performing...but great atmosphere, intimate little theatre for up and coming artists...Nice little bar too.

Visit to run bookstall at Writer's Forum held here, very friendly staff, lovely food, nice venue right in middle of town

Took a small group of high school students to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We were delegated to the smaller theatre in the back of the building. It was fine. The room was large enough to accommodate the seating on risers. Very few people came to see us perform, but it was a great experience for the students who went

Cool

Fabulous place, lovely service and the best vegan breakfast I have ever had. We will be back.
