This place is absolutely amazing. The staff spend a great deal of time maintaining this cemetery.

One could definitely spend the whole day going through this cemetery. The area is beautiful and it's always interesting to see the epitaphs from those who have based long ago vs. in the past 90 or so years. And the stained glass in some of the crypts when the sun hits them are beautiful. Definitely make sure to carry water if it's hot out. And also make sure to check out the gift shop. It was a pleasant surprise and actually found quite a lot of gifts there. There's road work going on right outside the main gate, where the GPS was trying to take us to park, but we found parking right on the street nearby.

Been coming to this cemetery for quite some time now and I still haven’t really seen the whole area. I usually come here for the quiet atmosphere to catch up on reading or to get a glimpse of history. It’s open from sunrise to sunset with a tour guide and visitors shop at the Bell Tower. One of the largest cemetery I’ve been to. There’s plenty of events here that goes on year round.

Walked here from downtown as a visitor from New England. I spent maybe two hours walking around the grounds, sitting on benches and admiring the artful memorials and monuments who’s appearance was enhanced by the curated trees, flowers, and other plants. Never have I been to a park that had more butterflies (very beautiful butterflies at that!) and I was able to check a bucket list item off as I saw some lotus flowers in one of the statues. Very peaceful area to explore and relax.

Dispite being a historical cemetery, no public entry.

20/10. My FAVORITE place in Atlanta. Dead serious 🖤 The history mixed with the incredible gardens mixed with the intricate architecture of the headstones and mausoleums is always fascinating. The entire cemetery feels so peaceful and welcoming, even in the winter months. Every time I come, it feels like seeing it for the first time. I truly truly love Oakland! Shout out to all the volunteers who dedicate their time and knowledge to helping preserve and grow such a beautiful memorial to those buried there. As far as gardens go, it definitely takes an army to maintain and they do so expertly! The grounds are a welcome oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of ATL. Last night I was able to attend the Illumine event for the first time and it was SO so cool! Awesome music, art installations and lighting! Seeing the cemetery at night like that was killer. Can’t wait for next year!
Just to clarify, there is no entry fee just to visit on a normal day. These photos are from the Illumine event which is ticketed.

It’s the HOA that is tasked with the upkeep of the cemetery. Don’t take it out on the city there is a caretaker they just do a bad job

Mr. Kelly and the staff are very friendly and kind. I’ve known Mr. Kelly for over 5 years and our father is buried here . If you have any concerns or need anything he’ll gladly help you. Thank you Mr. Kelly!

Two of my relatives are buried at the Graves in North Atlanta Memorial Park and Mausoleum and I visit them often.
My personal impression of this cemetery is excellent, especially when compared to two other cemeteries I regularly visit.
I always see the lawn and public areas clean and well maintained.
The office staff does outstanding work with all services like recommendations on selecting the burial place, making arrangements, ordering flowers, and fixing any other issues. All responses are done with great care and respect and make you feel better in your hour of need.
Thank you very much for your great services.

I cant believe how they let this cemetery go down hills with people love ones buried here. Its a shame if someone wanna come and visit they love ones they couldn't because they have let tress and bushes overcome over people tombstone. When u first pull up in the cemetery you can see how bad it looks, it hurts my heart! we just buried my Daddy here. Makes me feel some kinda of way about how this cemetery treated people love ones. It won't hurt to clean it up

A very unique experience in Atlanta. Currently the cemetery is being paved so watch your step. Great place to put in some steps without feeling like you're "working out". Bring water and comfy shoes, you'll stay a while. Free to enter with free (for now) parking at the main entrance. There is plenty of parking on the street if the lot is full.

Great relaxing place!

This was the most beautiful cemetery I have been to! Just be careful pulling into the parking lot because it looks wider than it is and I may have hit the curb.
This cemetery has different signs with phone numbers you can call to do your own walking tour. They have recorded messages about different people. You could spend hours here seeing everything. The garden throughout is beautiful. There were lots of blooming trees when I came.

Sunlight glinted off the vibrant foliage, casting playful patterns on the moss-covered stones. Lush greenery unfurled before me, not just any park, but Oakland Cemetery Park, Atlanta's historic past' heart. Whispers of the past danced on the gentle breeze, promising an exciting mission.
My objective: delve deeper into this living monument, where each tombstone tells a silent chapter of Atlanta's story. Anticipation crackled in the air as I ventured deeper, sunlight dappling the vibrant pathways adorned with thriving flora.
Towering monuments stood guard, whispering tales of forgotten & remembered heroes, while expansive lawns stretched out like an emerald bio-grid, dotted with joggers and other people enjoying the sunshine. Reaching the crest of a gentle hill, I was rewarded with a breathtaking vista – the Atlanta skyline, a modern marvel rising from the embrace of its rich history.
A sense of calm settled over me as I strolled past intricate mausoleums and weathered headstones. Each inscription whispered a name, a life, a story etched in stone, reminding me of the city's vibrant past.
As the sun dipped lower, casting long shadows across the park, I stumbled upon a hidden clearing. A majestic oak, its branches reaching towards the sky like welcoming arms, stood sentinel over a weathered bench. Here, nestled amidst the whispers of the past, I took a moment to reflect, the park's serene embrace washing away the day's frenetic energy.
Leaving Oakland Park, I carried with me a newfound appreciation for the city's legacy and a heart brimming with the echoes of countless stories. This Oakland cemetery mission might be complete, but the park's captivating secrets beckoned for further exploration. Until next time, Oakland Park!

This historic site is so overgrown and underkept. The headstones are becoming buried literally under all the greenery and figuratively under the weight of greed. The entrance is not accessable, this needs to be addressed immediately for families to visit and honor thier loved ones that have passed on. Its really a gross negligence! The city needs to be held accountable for this level of disrespect. For a cemetery to be left in this condition is horribly wrong. No person of honorable moral standing could build luxury apartments adjacent a historic cemetery with blatant disregard. Its very disappointing to see an African American cemetery ignored by the state of Georgia.

The city should be ashamed. As if it wasn’t enough to build luxury condominiums around a gravesite, the city so carelessly made no effort to properly care for this space. This is a historical site and there’s no entry to even get to it. It is blocked off by a gated community in which there is no public access. Not to mention, once you go around the community by foot, there is little to no way to access it further, as there is so much overgrowth. There are trees that have fallen over some of the sites, bushes, ivy, tall grass, and thorny bushes. If you try hard enough, you can see the tops of some graves. Most of the sites are not even visible. The entire site is completely neglected. This is such a travesty. I was outraged and disgusted to see this historical site severely neglected. This is outright shameful, deplorable, and disrespectful to the legacy of those whom rest at this gravesite. They deserve a proper burial grounds and a proper means for folks to honor and uphold their legacy. And at minimum, a well-kept space with a freaking entry point.

I cannot tell you what their sales people are like or any experience related to me dealing with having someone buried there.
What I can tell you is I've called the office everyday for 2 weeks, not one time has anyone answered the phone. I've left the message after message after message trying to get info on a relative who was buried there in 1958.
No one has returned my call!!! Whats up with that?

I love this place so so so much

Lively place, so nice for a walk, makes me feel alive.

Great spot for a quiet walk, and historic context. It's not the most maintained cemetery, but its quiet and walkable

Having lost my 2 daughters recently, I have been helped tremendously by Jeff Cho who has handled my affairs in an extremely professional and warm and caring manner. He spent a great deal of time with me at several meetings to discuss arrangements and fully explain to me everything I needed to go forward.
Jeff treated me as his family and listened to every question I had and went over every aspect of the process in detail.
I highly recommend North Atlanta Memorial Park and Jeff Cho to all who need wonderful care for their loved ones during their time of grief.

I don’t recommend this place to anyone. The stuff is friendly, but it doesn’t help to get things done on time. They will easily bridge the contract having to many excuses. Not professional at all. Stay away from ordering monuments from them.

All my family's here been coming here since 1956 ,ouite the history lesson take time to read very informative and soul insp

Sad that most historical burial cemeteries of black or indigenous peoples are constantly disrespected. I knew it was black remains just looking at how they built a hwy through it before I researched it. It's 53 head stones but over 1000 bodies were buried there! Claims "someone" in 1950's damaged it! We can read between the lines...racist white folks destroyed it just like they still do to Emmit Tills gravesite to this day! Even after his accuser said she lied and admitted it! And they won't arrest her because she's old. 1950's was full of racist bigotry so no surprises there! Sad sad sad! Racism isn't about color, but rather weakness masquerading as power. I really gave no star but not an option here.

My dad was buried there in 1976. He went to Hollywood, California and was an actor in about 200 films but when he died he was brought back home and buried in the Hollywood cemetery. Ironic.
Google Maps shows that some of the cemetery is still being cared for. I don't know if my dad is there or in the overgrown part. I live in California so probably won't get to find out.
IF anyone can look him up I would appreciate knowing. He is Charles Joseph Mallinson, Section 1-E, Lot 360.

It's a terrible shame that this once beautiful cemetery is in such disrepair. I believe a class-action lawsuit is warranted by the descendants of those interred in this cemetery. I will be looking into finding who owns/manages this property, and contacting a local law firm.

The entire staff was extremely professional and helpful as they guided us through the process and necessary decisions. The facility itself has many burial options and it is a beautiful, quiet and solemn place in the middle of the city. I would highly recommend North Atlanta Memorial Park for any family in need of their services.

The owner Mr. Kelly as well as the workers are such great people ! The workers Santos and Obdulia are amazing! They are so polite and willing to work with your needs! Your families are in great hands with them without a doubt !!

This graveyard is to die for. I had my kids birthday there and we all had a killer time. The place is pretty crowded so apparently people are dying to get in but we managed.

I just saw this location get tagged recently and I was really excited to finally know a little about the history.
I lived in Lenox Heights for almost two years until one day I noticed a headstone off to the side of the road while I was on a walk. It was around March so all the plants hadn’t grown back yet.
I made my way over and explored some of the sites. Most of the gravesites were in poor condition and it was sad to think that this place was just left behind and forgotten.

The attendants are so helpful in locating your love ones. The grounds are always cut & look so beautiful. It is so comfortable knowing your loved ones are resting in such a beautiful place. You might even see a deer walking there.

That’s a shame.

This is a beautiful well maintained place that helps me to fell at peace.
Mrs. Cathy is a very pleasant, kind and understanding person I'm very grateful to have my Mother and sister very close.
I'm very pleased with the services.

we purchased 154 lots at the North Atlanta Monument for our members. Owner and manager are very professional and take care of everyone's needs. They help each member to get the deed and map to ensure that they have the correct batches, and add free monument to us. Our 12 members have passed away and they have taken care of them with all their hearts. We love the people there, we love the service, we love the location. Will recommend this Memorial Park to our people.

Unbelievably that a Cemetery would allow woods, privet, ivy and downed trees to completely overtake that one time nice cemetery. Look up the original advertisements for this Cemetery!
Open graves everywhere. Shameful! We will go back to our ancestors with a chainsaw, roundup, Wet and Forget. We need to get cement/concrete/Quikrete but not sure we could get it thru the thick ivy and downed trees up the hill. :(

My grandma passed away on July 1, 2020. I had been looking around for a niche to place her I called North Atlanta Memorial Park as it’s close to my house. Sung was able to help me over the phone and get an appointment set up next day to discuss my needs they have different options for the niche I chose the niche in the garden. Once my grandma was placed in the niche they put up a temporary plaque as her was being recently engraved. Kelly went above and beyond for me when I asked if it were possible to have a photo place in the plaque and to possibly add some butterflies just to make it more decorative he immediately called to put a hold on the plaque in order to meet my needs. Once everything was approved they were in constant communication with me providing updates I was hoping to have her plaque up by my grandmas birthday and low and behold it was up two days before.! Sung and Kelly both contacted me to let me know it was up and ready and that the picture would be in soon as soon as picture is up I will be posting a photo. I was also informed that I get a free first flowers to place in the vase which is very nice so the vase won’t be empty. I am very happy with my choice I recommend this cemetery.!

Sad to see a cemetery so close to Atlanta that has been forgotten even though it's still open graves all through the woods with no upkeep.

This is a very interesting cemetery. There is an old Chinese section, a Greek section, and a very large Jewish section. The three of these were nice to walk around and pay homage to the people buried here who were segregated when they were buried. There is also a Holocaust memorial in one section.

Only 53 graves shown.close to 1,000 buried under the hwy. Sad

Wish I could give it zero stars!! Whoever took it upon themselves to build over those people are sick!!! They could've built AROUND those resting people.

Peaceful, historic cemetery - many trees make it very picturesque

A pretty cemetery. Quiet, historic. Could use a little more maintenance.

Full of people but never crowded

My grandpa is there and I am very n pleased with the grounds.

My great Grandpa is calling Me. We are coming soon grandpa!

it is a great place for my very close friend to me I will miss Samuel Truett Cathy
