Dispite being a historical cemetery, no public entry.

It’s the HOA that is tasked with the upkeep of the cemetery. Don’t take it out on the city there is a caretaker they just do a bad job

This historic site is so overgrown and underkept. The headstones are becoming buried literally under all the greenery and figuratively under the weight of greed. The entrance is not accessable, this needs to be addressed immediately for families to visit and honor thier loved ones that have passed on. Its really a gross negligence! The city needs to be held accountable for this level of disrespect. For a cemetery to be left in this condition is horribly wrong. No person of honorable moral standing could build luxury apartments adjacent a historic cemetery with blatant disregard. Its very disappointing to see an African American cemetery ignored by the state of Georgia.

The city should be ashamed. As if it wasn’t enough to build luxury condominiums around a gravesite, the city so carelessly made no effort to properly care for this space. This is a historical site and there’s no entry to even get to it. It is blocked off by a gated community in which there is no public access. Not to mention, once you go around the community by foot, there is little to no way to access it further, as there is so much overgrowth. There are trees that have fallen over some of the sites, bushes, ivy, tall grass, and thorny bushes. If you try hard enough, you can see the tops of some graves. Most of the sites are not even visible. The entire site is completely neglected. This is such a travesty. I was outraged and disgusted to see this historical site severely neglected. This is outright shameful, deplorable, and disrespectful to the legacy of those whom rest at this gravesite. They deserve a proper burial grounds and a proper means for folks to honor and uphold their legacy. And at minimum, a well-kept space with a freaking entry point.

I just saw this location get tagged recently and I was really excited to finally know a little about the history.
I lived in Lenox Heights for almost two years until one day I noticed a headstone off to the side of the road while I was on a walk. It was around March so all the plants hadn’t grown back yet.
I made my way over and explored some of the sites. Most of the gravesites were in poor condition and it was sad to think that this place was just left behind and forgotten.
