Glad I made the time to visit. A pretty significant historical site. A pretty sobering experience when you see how many graves just have numbers and no names.

This is the place to pay tribute the victim of Titanic from the disaster of April 1912. Some graves are named but other are not. The grave site is well kept.
Nice place to visit and know about Titanic history, you enter by car , discover the place
If you like old cemeteries. Do stop here. So many interesting headstones. Nigel (tour guide at the cemetery) was full of knowledge that he was willing to share. I learned some quite a few new things about gravestones. An hour passed in no time. Thanks Nigel!
Locked up tight on a Tuesday morning. Returned two hours later and still locked. Won’t have a chance to return anytime soon so very disappointed.
It’s one of they oldest burial ground in Halifax and the oldest grave dug here goes back to June 21, 1749.

Another reason why it became famous is when Titanic sank in Atlantic Ocean, near Newfoundland on April 1912, all the bodies brought to dry land were buried here.
A really interesting piece of history with some fascinating gravestones, this is a nice area to walk around and explore when walking around the city.
Small old cemetery. A couple of months ago I couldn’t enter in because it was closed and some places, judging by the appearance, were undergoing restoration or cleaning, but now I was able to come in and take some pictures. It’s good when history, even in this form, is preserved and protected.

A somber place to take in some history. Graves are marked with numbers as they were pulled out of the sea - some numbers were identified and thus have names - others unfortunately were never identified. Very beautiful well manicured cemetery. Enjoy and respect the dead
A bit of a sad sight.
Open old cemetery. Although it’s in the city center, it’s quiet here. I saw people come here a couple of times for a jog. The local graves are full of history... but three stars because so many of them are in very poor condition. And I’m not even talking about the fact that some texts have been almost erased (time does not spare even immortal stones), but about the fact that the graves themselves were often broken or fallen. I really hope that at least some restoration will be carried out, but for now the rating 3 is not for the place itself, but for the condition in which it is.
Peaceful, full of history, and close to St. Mary's Cathedral, the Old Burying Ground was established in 1749 and represents a non-denominational resting place for more than 10,000 people, including early settlers, military leaders, Loyalists, African Nova Scotians, and Mi'kmaq. The cemetery was in use until 1844 and features over 1,200 markers.

A plaque on the outside features a quotation from Anne Shirley from Anne of the Island: "I don't know that a graveyard isa very good place to go to get cheered up, but it seems the only get-at-able place where there are trees, and trees I must have."
A piece of Canadian history; so peaceful and quiet. Many plaques with details of the cemetery, history and foundation. There's also a war monument right at the entrance.
Called the police on the potato salad guy. Not cool

Extremely interesting and well maintained cemetery. It is the resting place of 121 victims of the Titanic disaster. I had originally gone only to see the Titanic memorial but then found the mass grave for the victims of the 1917 harbor explosion. So sad to see. I went to the maritime museum and found the exhibit of the 1917 explosion after seeing the grave.
This is a beautiful cemetery full of history and interesting epitaphs. This may have been one of the cemeteries Anne wanders in "Anne of the Island". However ye be warned... There are no hours posted or listed on Google maps but apparently closes around 8 because we got locked in.
Good to know the place. You can spend about 10 minutes here.
There isn't much parking available.

The only thing you can hear is silence 🤐... You can take a drive through the cemetery and have a visit to the remains of the halifax explosion and titanic disaster... You will find proper boards to guide you to these sections inside the cemetery... #respect #prayers

Beautiful, serene place. It’s like walking through a history book or Time Capsule with the old stones and old trees. Everything a cemetery should be.
Please do not call the phone number listed. It isn't associated with Old Burying Ground any longer. Please contact OBG via email on the website. Thanks so much.
An absolutely fascinating cemetery to visit. Very eerie and beautiful. So rich and full of history.

It is a nice place to sit. Somehow it is not entirely ruined by the bullying development next door.
A beautiful and peaceful place for a quiet walk among the ancient dead. Volunteers are on hand for tours by donation. A must see.

Always had been a bucket list visit for a long time and it didn't disappoint.
We used the Hop on / hop off bus to get from the Cruise terminal to get here whick takes you via the citadel, Agricola Street and the Hydrostone District to get you there and is a great bus tour.
Fairview Lawn Cemetery is beautiful and serene and of course has 121 victims buried here. There are clear information boards and signposts.
The site is beautifully maintained and we paid our respects, had a quiet walk around before continuing our bus tour.
There are another 10 victims buried nearby in the Baron de Hirsch Cemetery which was closed at the time of our visit.
Beautiful cementery. For the Titanic memorial there are signs however for the Halifax explosion you need to look for Section 2

I need help please… looking for a grave site of a young child “Frederick Joseph Keast” I was told he is in section 2-D I’m in Ontario and would love a photo of the grave site or the area if no stone is found
DOB Oct 28 1933
Death January 6 1944
Buried January 8 1944
Thank you
Took a walk through the Fairview Lawn Cemetery to look at the memorial for those who lost their lives on the Titanic. I did it mostly for my son, who when he was a child, watched the movie over and over, and would cry everytime. Such a sweet angel, my boy is.

While I was there I also learned about an explosion that happened on the pier, claiming many lives in the early 1900s. Halifax is rich with history.

With some time to 'kill' in halifax, we decided to wander through this old cemetery. I have walked by many times but never went it. Viola Desmond is buried here and there is a sign marking the spot. I also saw Alexander Keith's grave. The graveyard is very interesting with many old markers that are in bad shape, but many more recent. It is a lovely spot to wander through.

My great grandfather and other family members are buried here. It is well hidden in the trees. There is a lot of history in there. It's been an uphill battle to get it on google maps so that others can be aware of it. There is room for a couple of cars beside the road. Many Jollimore, Boutilier, Slaunwhite and others buried here.

We got a “by donation” tour from Geordi, the resident tour guide-slash-groundskeeper and it was the best tour I’ve taken in ages. Fascinating stories, just the right amount of depth, more historic than macabre. Really enjoyable and top notch. If you are at all interested in the history of Halifax, this place should not be missed!
What can one say? This truly remarkable historic cemetery right in the middle of downtown Halifax, is WELL worth a visit, even if you pass it every day on your way to work, as many folks do, without giving it more than a passing glance. Has an INSANE number of very historic and interesting headstones to explore, and is also large enough for a quick "retreat" from the hustle and bustle of city life. Very well maintained in addition. We are QUITE fortunate to have such a place so well preserved, in our Fair City.
A beautiful cemetery in the heart of Halifax. his cemetery is of particular note historically as it hosts the graves of Viola Desmond, the Canadian civl-rights icon, Alexander Keith, the famous maker of Keith's beer, and Joseph Howe, Nova Scotian Premiere and journalist. It is located next to the QEII hospital, the Veterans Memorial Hospital, and the Abby J. Lane Hospital.
My late nephew (Christopher O'Callaghan Gauthier) is suppose to be buried here. Who can I contact to see if he is as there is no webpage for Camp Hill Cemetery & I would like to visit his grave site?
My late son, Connor O'Callaghan sleeps here, steps from Viola Desmond. This is one of the most beautiful cemeteries I've ever been in and I'm very thankful for this lovely place and those who attend it.
Visited as part of a titanic tour from our cruise boat. Buses cannot drive in the cemetary (which was good) but be prepared for the uphill walk back out.
The titanic section is laid out very nicely, very easy to find. Signs everywhere.
Respectfully done.
Se puede encontrar buenos memoriales.
We kind of happened across this place, I had heard of it but didn't really realize where it was in Halifax or how cool it really was! It was so neat to walk around and spend time reading about the people who were first generation Canadians. Such a neat and odd atmosphere but stunningly beautiful.

This is the resting place of a few of the Titanic victims that were determined to be Catholic. While Fairview Lawn (just down the road) has a more prominent memorial to the Titanic victims, the section in this cemetery for Titanic is very small and simple. For any enthusiasts, I think it's still worth a quick visit and there will be some names here that you may recognize.
I've only been here to view the Titanic grave sites. Years ago when I first visited it was in better condition due to less traffic going through the area. Now, there are a lot of tour buses that bring people through it. I overheard a tour guide as he shared some of the stories. Some were accurate, others were a bit stretched (read fabricated) to make for a more entertaining story I guess. I was disappointed to be there while all of the tours came through, but if you can avoid those times it's definitely worth a visit even if you are not a Titanic enthusiast.
There are many known and unidentified victims of the Titanic tragedy buried here. It’s nicely kept and serves as a great memorial to the victims. It’s very sad and allows us to honor those people and to remember them. They deserve to be remembered.

Not well maintained, but clear clean walking paths and some beautiful memorials
