Really interesting and immersive experience
Love it, would come back again! Suggested donation $4 each adult. Volunteers are so friendly and the wait wasn't long (it was to the end of the first aisle and took maybe 25 minutes max). Good shade to wait under also. And they mark your ticket with a train emblem punch!
This was our second trip to see Iowa, we were here 2 years ago and seeing the ongoing restoration of her is absolutely amazing. Last time we also did the gun tour (highly recommend!!) The staff is always friendly and telling stories of the artifacts.
My brother in law, my father, and I had an incredible time aboard the USS Iowa, and with our excellent tour guide. We spent a scant four hours aboard and nearly got the whole run of the ship on our $75 guided tour. And we all concluded we have to return to see even more. What a great experience to see such a ship like that, and go through it in such detail. Special commendations to our tour guide, Bob Abelson, for letting us go in, out, up, down, and all around this great ship! A very worthwhile experience.
That said, the website is a mess, and something must be done about the experience. The site says the general access pass must be bought before the tours, but it doesn't say that the page will take you to the add-on page following checkout. Clear as mud overall. Same with scheduling for the tours; not the most clear. Also, the hot dog stand was closed early. But everyone aboard the ship was nice, we bought our add-on tour once we there, and everything is in fairly good condition. Will return again!

If you are in the area this is a self guided tour that is amazing. I would give yourself a couple of hours at the minimum. Make sure to knock out restrooms before you start the tour. However, there are restrooms, food, beer and an awesome place to relax at the end of the tour. Enjoy.
It was mostly about the holocaust and any other social issues got a small section, were super vague, and haven’t been updated since 2021. The narrative around Palestine was that “Jewish people moved there after WWII and everyone lived happily ever after, the end!” They say the goal is to prevent genocide. When I asked if they have a Palestinian genocide exhibit, they pointed me to a section that had no mention of Palestine. The holocaust exhibit was good but there’s another holocaust museum down the road, some of the cues didn’t work, and they had private tours that were distracting for those of us not on the private tour. They search your car. And the website said it’s free on Sundays but it’s not
We were there today and we met Don at the gangway. We got talking and found the engine room and boiler room tour was only on the weekend.
In the conversation, I had mentioned I was a Canadian navy engineer veteran, Don offered to take me and my wife down below even though it was close. He was a great tour guide for us I can't thank him enough it was a great tour experience.

Pretty interesting place, my wife and I saw it on the side of the road and decided to stop by. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a chance to look around the vintage houses despite missing the last tour. It was was only a few dollars to look around, and even the tour prices were pretty cheap. Would definitely go back. I'd like to look around the gift shop some more.
This is the oldest Holocaust Museum in the U.S., founded by actual Holocaust survivors. You can take an audio tour, or get a Docent lead tour. Now is the time to learn about the Holocaust... from experts.

The collection centers on the Japanese American struggles during the war and how the survivors made it a point to educate the younger generations never to forget and ultimately seek justice which they rightfully deserved and this idea applies to all of humanity.
The museum offers free entrance of certain Thursdays so check them out. Don’t forget to enjoy the many Japanese restaurants around. For those taking the metro, a stop was opened right next to the museum.

Had a great experience, I learned a lot of new things and got to experience how medieval torture worked. The museum is interactive so you can touch and use everything you like.
Anyone interested in local and world history should definitely pay a visit to the USS Iowa. The knowledgable and captivating docent shared tales about the building and operation of this enormous vessel. He exuded infectious energy. Wearing non-slip shoes or low heels is helpful for those walking. The safety instructions provided at the beginning of the trip were very useful in navigating the ship's steep steps. The ship tour was excellent overall, very interesting, and had excellent markings for each area.
For those who are interested in local and world history, a trip to the USS Iowa is a delight. A visit to the USS Iowa is a treat for people who are interested in local and global history. The docent who relayed the stories about the construction and use of this massive ship was very knowledgeable and interesting. His enthusiasm was contagious. It is important for people to wear walking shoes that are not slippery or high heels. The steps are steep on the ship, but the safety reminders at the start of the tour were very helpful on how to negotiate the steps. All in all the ship tour was well marked, great with explanations of each room, and very interesting.
The only downside was the lack of a real place to eat that wasn't a hotdog stand. But, that didn't really matter with the number of local restaurants within walking distance.

I visited and attended Ghost Stories. One of the readers was impressive and connecting with the listeners. The others two are like door knobs. My mother read a lot more better and connecting. My expectations from a professional reader were not met. The warm apple cider and cookies hit the spot on a cold night show. The ambiance and settings are impressive.
Love the concept of this museum. Been here 2 times, both as a chaperone for school. Perhaps next time I will go just to wander myself. BUT, wish they showed more of the hardships they went through. Schindler's List was a lot more where it hits my heart..
Wonderful experience. Although i felt much sorrow sometimes, any human with emotions would feel something. The holocaust exhibit was so detailed with an entire walk through set is a must. The street was blocked so we couldnt park, but its in a residential area with plenty of street parking everywhere, we parked half a block away. This place is so important, let us never forget what hatred can lead to
I've been to this ship a couple of times now and always have a great time. The first time me and the wife and I went and checked it out and loved it. This is the second time we've been back to its current location, and we brought my daughter to this time, and we all had a blast. Prior to this, I saw her when she was in Oakland being renovated before being put down where she is now. Highly recommend for any families.

BB61 is an impressive US Navy ship to visit. The USS Iowa is the "Grand Daddy" of all of the battleships. I really wish I lived closer so that I could just hang out with the care takers whenever I wanted to. The men and women who donate their time to work on this incredible combat ship are wonderful people who are friendly, knowledgeable, and generous. The tour prices are resonable and the information that you recieve is intresting and informative. On the day that we went, it was pouring rain, so as the rain poured down on us, we sat under one of the 16-inch guns and listened to Sea Urchin Ohr's father tell us stories about old BB61. We are appreciative of the time that you, Daddy Urchin, took to speak with us.
I'm glad I visited. The posters, recorded memories, and artifacts , the survivors stories. We hear about that in our educational institutions, visit it.
After walking through the galleries, a museum worker spoke to me and my friend about his family’s experience and it was very enlightening. A great, tragic, hopeful, educational place! Highly recommend to those who know nothing about this history of Japanese people in America.
LACMA- my heart goes to this place. I just love it here. Visited multiple times through past 13 years. Their collection is unmatched and their exhibitions are curated with care and knowledge.

Wonderful rides on miniature steam, electric and gas powered trains. The club members are friendly, the ride is fun, my kids enjoy it and besides the miniature trains you can visit Walt Disneys Train Barn on the 3rd Sunday if the month.
My cousin stopped by from the boat he was in from San Francisco before going to Florida on Nov 02, 2023 so we passed by to meet him for lunch. Next to their boat was the Battleship USS Iowa and it looked incredible. People who worked in the area were nice and friendly as well. We wanted to come inside and buy tickets but we didn't have the time, I will come back here and see when I get the chance and update my review.
Our family went to the Museum to stamp a sacred book of names of our family who were incarnated in concentration camps during WWII. Ireicho is a tribute to honor and remember those who courageously endured loss of home, belongings and freedom while in camp. Many incarcerated people went on to join the military and fight for the USA while their families remained in camps, including my father who served in the US Army. It was very moving and emotional.
The price was pretty good for a museum, and we were able to interact with quite a lot of the exhibits. Most museums it's look but don't touch.
Keep in mind that if you have a weak stomach, there are some very graphic details.

Excellent experience and the lights are beautiful to see at night. The exhibits are wonderful and the outdoor restaurant and bar are just what is needed after a long day.

Very nice museum. I came here to see one specific piece, metropolis 2. One of museum employees Rolen was extremely helpful and a pleasure to talk to. He was very knowledgeable about the exhibit, it has 1100 cars and 13 trains.
Fascinating place! We started our tour at 10 am, there were not that many people at this time on weekday. We had short introduction from retired veteran and watched short video about the Battleship. During the tour we could see volunteers willing to help and describing certain parts of the ship. That was great to hear the stories, you could also feel that they are passionate about their work. Tour has enough descriptions, you can smell old school mechanics, see how everything is built. I wish there was a chance to see turrets from inside.

One of my absolute favorite museums to visit. I'm a Member and love going on Member evenings and having the museums mostly to myself. They have a wonderful collection and always have very impressive new exhibits. If visiting LA it's a must visit like the Getty & the Broad.
A great place, definitely worth going with children! It's a lot of fun to ride on little trains; the walk takes about 15-20 minutes. Interesting scenery, bridges, tunnels will bring a lot of fun.
At the time we went (around 6pm) the museum was closed. But you could walk around inside premises. Most of the people come here to take photos of the lights arrangement inside. This light area is free to access. But not sure of the time they switch on them. After sun sent this place is so crowded to take photos. People even come here for wedding and graduation photos. Out side of the museum, there are restaurants too. Free off street parking available right in front of the museum.
This was my second time visiting. As with my first visit, I loved how friendly and helpful everyone is on the ship. The tour is really easy to follow and with so much to see. And they added new features since my last visit which was even more fun to see. I highly recommend a visit 😊
We love this museum; we feel lucky to live close to it. We went during a Snapchat event and had free tickets. The parking was still over $20, but overall it wasn't an expensive outing.

The Japanese American Museum depicts a topic of history that is often overlooked or even just not known. The artifacts and stories are touching for anyone, not just those of Japanese but for anyone with an interest in humanity.
One element that was unique and rarely seen is an interactive recording of veteran Sakai-San. I also found the propaganda against the Japanese Americans fascinating and profoundly sad.
This may not be the location for a first date. My fiancé at the time and I found it a wonderful location to spend together after years of being together.

Like giant dollhouses! I really enjoyed coming here. I took the inside tour but was disappointed to learn that they do not take you to any of the upstairs areas in the homes due to some city code enforcement. Oh, well. The tour was still a lot of fun and it was nice to hear about the history of each house. Our tour guide was super friendly, and she had so much information to share.

We had a great time looking at all of the devices and scenes. Took some fun pictures! I would recommend going on a weekday, there was no one else inside so we could leisurely walk around. I appreciate that they have a restroom.
It was a very insightful and fun self guided tour! Learned so much and got to actually see how the devices worked! It was a great experience. I’ll be recommending to all my friends.
Worth a visit. Kids had a great time. Lots to learn from history. About two hours to see everything. Lots of walking and climbing stairs. Wish the tour had included more of the guts of the ship such as the engine room. Several exhibits really rounded out the experience.
I loved this place, Jacob in front was so nice and gave us some great pointers when walking around the museum. It’s like the museum of death but actually cool, without the serial killer glorification. There’s soooo much detail everywhere, and the talent and effort that went into to making the props is amazing. My partner and I had so much fun walking through, looking at the absolutely insane tools that were used on humans during the 15-18th century. What I really liked is that a few of the exhibits are interactive so you can pull a rope to get an idea of how it was used, they also have a ghost hunting activity you can do, as well an audio to explain each exhibit in more detail. 10/10 thanks for making this place so neat❤️🩹
I purchased my tickets online. At the time of this review: 1 adult ticket costs $16. There wasn't a wait time for checking in.

Another exhibit was the holocaust one where you go in some doors and watch snippets of videos where they talk about the holocaust. You couldn't really go at your own pace because you had go follow the videos as they played through the tour. The 3rd exhibit is the Anne Frank exhibit where they showed photos of her and her family and parts of her diary.
Overall, informative, educational and sad to see that part of history.

I've always wanted to get my photo in front of the light poles here at the museum. My partner brought me here this afternoon and we had a really good time. 😊 The cost was $25 per person (outside of LA COUNTY) They also had other museums and food options at this location. I would recommend checking it out. Give yourself a couple hours to explore.
What a great place to learn about the history of holocaust. It has a very interactive walkthrough of the events that many will love from kids to adults. Highly recommend for you to check it out.
Loved our visit here. Miles was our tour guide for the inside tour of the homes. So worth seeing the inside, and Miles was Amazing!!! She had so much cool info about the houses and is such a fan of the Victorian age. We can't wait to go back.
Really cool museum with a nice outside area with free art sculptures. I didn’t go inside the art museum but I walked around for the outdoors portion. The streetlights piece was really cool and the best place to take photos and look around. It’s also near a nice outdoor mall called the Grove which is great for dinner and just a night out. There’s also a movie theater there
A lot of interesting history about the Japanese American Internment Camps. Dozens of images documenting the racist attitudes of the US government and white residents at the time. Part of the original barracks was cool to witness first hand. Got in free, because the 3rd Thursday of the month there is no fee.

Great history lesson for me and my children. This trip hardened my resolve. At first you get angry at what was done. But then you realize those before you pave a path through the darkness. They met the hardship head on and did not back down. They did this quietly and broke the chains that were placed on them. We as the children and grandchildren need to understand this. This is how we overcame hardship as a community. GO FOR BROKE!
Great museum with amazing exhibits. Highly recommend checking out metropolis and the garage. The garage has a digital queue to get in so I recommend going there first to scan the qr code and get in line, and then exploring the rest of the exhibits while you wait in line.
Love this museum!! Super interesting and informative. Lots of photo opportunities. There is an optional audio guide as well as some ghost hunting which adds to the fun. The people that work here are very kind and chill. Overall great place to visit here in Hollywood.
The ship is in really great shape for being inactive for about 30 years. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and will always try to answer any questions you have. To have access to guided tours I highly recommend weekends when there are more volunteers available. For anyone that previously served on the ship if you want to have your best chance at seeing off limits areas go on Saturday. That is the one day you'll have the best chance of catching the volunteer with the keys. There is food available for purchase by Turret 3 and by the old mess decks you'll find a well stocked gift shop. Expansion of the museum exhibits is still ongoing so below decks berthing forward of Turret 2 is a mess. This was my first time back to her after I transferred in 1988 and I'm glad I did. Former crew bring a marker and if your old rack is there you can sign it.
Highly recommended, but it is so sad what human beings can do to each other. It makes you grateful for freedom.
You have to reserve a time slot. I recommend this museum 1000%. I learned so much more about the holocaust and even got to hear a survivor speak around 1pm. It is a great way to learn history and really put yourself in the shoes of the Jews who suffered. There is a wall of clothes that represents the 1.5 million children who died. I definitely felt the experience. They have an amazing tour that moves along to inform you. Underground parking as well. I went on a Sunday.

I heard about these lights and seen photos in social media, they called it “Urban Lights.” So when we were out and about in LA we went to see them. To some it may just be a bunch of lamp post but to me it’s a beautiful street display. You can take a great photo wherever you stand and to me every angle is great! Day or night you can produce an awesome photo.

Excellent tour! The tour guide was so full of information! You don't have to do the tour, you can walk around the outside of the buildings with the $7 ticket. But I highly suggest doing the tour. It's really amazing to look back in time through the amazing preservation that the museum maintains.

I really loved this museum. It’s art all around. It’s well curated art, all the buildings are worth it.

What a wonderful but sad experience. It really opens your mind to allow for some critical thinking. I unfortunately was not able to explore the whole entire building due to time constraints, but I would totally recommend and will be returning in the future.
It was a really fun experience, the ride is not short, they really take you around in the train a couple of times, very fun and enjoyable experience for the whole family 😊👍
Sobering experience that no one should miss. The Holocaust was a terrible time in history and this museum offers our community the opportunity to educate ourselves about the events that took place during WWII, in a clear and concise manner. The museum has free admission on Thursdays and Sundays, and appointments are available online. There is a entrance fee on other days of the week but it is worth your time and money. You will come out with more knowledge and respect for humanity.
This hidden gem has wonderful art with a purpose. A visit to the placita isn't complete without a walk downstairs to view this! Free to the public. Great exhibits.
Very nice attraction in LA where many historic houses are preserved: they were brought here and saved from destruction, then restored and opened to the public.
In some of them it's possible to go inside and visit the interiors.
I recommend going, very interesting visit.

This museum is amazing! What a great reminder that we can all do our part to make this world a safe place for everyone.
Former church which is now a museum with changing exhibits about social justice and to raise awareness.
This is a great place for families a small donation of $4 to ride the train it's about 15 minutes long . This is also the home of Walt Disney's Red Barn.
My visit to the Museum of Tolerance is an emotional experience, which encourages a dialogue about understanding, respect, and acceptance of cultural and racial diversity. The centerpiece of the museum is a step by step journey of European Jews' holocaust experience during World War II. There is also a large gallery on the history of social prejudices and its on-going transformation to tolerance with the use of interactive touchscreens. Plus, an exhibit on Anne Frank that completes the overall guest experience. To say a visit here is an eye opener for one's conscience, not to mention a humbling one that is truly an awe inspiring place to visit.
The Holocaust Museum is quite sombering however, it is informative and detailed. The traffic flow within the Museum wasn't bad. Parking is a challenge, and you're needing to reserve your spot before they allow you in. Security is higher in this Museum than most throughout SoCal.

The most amazing experience. It's heartbreaking to see what took place, but eerie to see the patterns of todays society falling into the holocausts series of events that led to the genocide of 6 million human beings. I highly recommend.
This is a "not to miss" attraction. If you can peek in from the bridge during work days, you can see them in the work yard working on and firing up the steam engines. On open days they give rides at a very reasonable price. And the ride covers a long loop and an inner short loop. Fantastic town models along the way and a huge trestle bridge. The trains are 1/8th scale. The detail on the engines is remarkable.
Incredible experience, can't wait to see what happens next with this project!

Sehr bewegende Kunstwerke - Bilder oder Texte - von jungen Menschen, nachdem sie sich intensiv mit der Thematik inklusive Begegnung mit Überlebenden auseinander gesetzt haben. Diese Werke haben mich sehr be- und gerührt.

This places fun to go to because of all the beautiful artifacts.The staff is also really amazing! Something that I find really interesting about this place is that they have some of the artifacts that is in Auschwitz. There is also a lot that this museum offers to the community around it. They have summer programs for youth to express themselves creatively and still educate the people there! Also I’m really great thing is that there is a beautiful park right next to the museum! I am beyond grateful to have access to such and amazing place and educational as well.
it was great to know part of our history. Because if we don't know if we don't teach to our children the story could be repeat it. Between 1938 and 1945 there were killed more the 12 millions people. I don't mention and race because for God eyes there isn't frontier, color religion, because those things are only and human mind and brain. Unfortunately this day we can see people with the same mentally.
During Halloween they have the ghost train. As a frequent visitor to anything #Halloween, this is real treat. It's unique to LA. They offer ticket prices to pay extra for a timed ticket, or save the money & wait in line general admission. After all, it is an experience so worth the wait. The sets are terrific & really show what can be done with a budget. Parking is free! Kids love it. You ride on a mini train which lasts about 20 min. The ticket prices aren't low, but it's something worth doing at least once in your life!

This place is awesome!!!! Open ONLY on Sunday's from 11am to 3pm. Ample parking. Once u get in, stand in line to get tickets for the train ride. U cannot walk around to look at train in here. Strictly for rides only and there's a small enclosed area when u see miniature tracks and trains near the entrance.
$3 per ride. No babies. Kids must be above 34" to ride and must be accompanied by one adult. The ride itself was AWESOME! A good 10 mins if not more. So worth the price and u get to see all these mini trains and riding on one!

This museum/gallery is always great. With rotating exhibits that are both sociopolitical and artistic, the Museum of Social Justice is always worth a visit when you're in the area. Our students at Angeles Workshop School, being very engaged in revolutionary politics, love the topics and themes explored by the activist artists shown here.
This museum is somewhat "hidden" next to the Pan Pacific park. I had been to this park before but didn't notice the museum in the past! In any case this is an awesome and informative museum about the horrors of the holocaust. The audio guide is especially good and there are more narratives than you can listen in 3 or 4 hours! There are tons of videos, photos, personal articles and models depicting what life was like during this dark period in history.
