A strange shaped bit of land between factory units.
Some fairly good paths that go round the majority of the site, but found to suddenly end, or turn into muddy quagmire.
Basically it is land that has been mined for coal and clay and then "left for nature"... I guess this was the only thing they could do to it, leave the spoil heaps and let the open mines fill with water. It is quite a big site, I was quite surprised just how far it stretches, but found the caravan park, old folks home and the school (as well as the factory units) got in the way of a decent walk.
If you want to explore, there are areas away from the main paths, but found them difficult to get around due to the amount of brambles and thorny trees (and dumped rubbish, tyres and stolen cable) ...
Might be better in the Summer, but I doubt it.

Nice nature reserve which is well maintained thanks to the volunteers maintaining it. Many varied habits to explore, wetland, woodland and grassland. A very peaceful place to visit and observe nature

Lots of different birds in this nature reserve. Shame some people can't show any respect and litter. Fair play to all the volunteers that do their bit to keep the place clean and tidy.

Beautiful nature reserve. Been there many times. Bigger then it looks especially if you walk all way round to big fish pound & wood bridge lovely & so peaceful with some wild animals if you can spot them on day. One of my fav nature escapes.

I love walking through our all around the nature reserve, but it always makes me wonder why the first part of the pathway is so narrow and left to get over grown, 😕 where as the other part of the pathway that leads to Willenhall park is very wide and also gets trimmed !!!! When it is already wide enough !!!! 🤔 Another thing, is who ever the dog walker that allows their dog to poo in the middle of the path and not get out up must get some kind of a thrill knowing that some one is going to get it up on the sole of their shoes !!!
Remember, your dog your poo !!! I don't usually use the word poo :

A wonderful outbreak of nature in the middle of the Black Country. When I t'were lad, it was the ideal place to escape the industrial grime (and possibly sneak a few tabs, if memory serves...). It's still as nice.

Lovely walk, well maintained. Didn't see any rubbish lying around. Plenty of routes for dog walking depending on how far you'd like to go.

This is a fantastic asset that is being spoilt by mindless morons.
They have no respect for others and couldn't care less about nature, or the environment.
Dog mess and food cartons just left where it drops.
That said, the wood is well managed and sign posted and is a lovely place to walk.
Much loved place. History and nature together. Watch out for mosquitos in summer though.
