Gentle ups and downs with shade the whole five miles. The brook is still laughing.
day20 (22AUG2024)sanctuary36:
the birthplace of Peter Rabbit has a sad history. author Thornton W Burgess' home still there, but 'zoo' gone, writing studio in disrepair and visitor center burned by arson.
spongy moths weakened and drought killed many oak trees, so deadfalls are a consideration, especially if it's windy.
the split rock looks to me like a breaching whale.
lovely, well maintained trail system may account for a half dozen cars in the parking lot midweek.
My kids love this playground. There's a lot of things to climb and play on, swings, and a great spray park! Little stream that kids love to explore and lots of picnic tables under a pavilion too.
Awesome hiking views
I loved the hike and the trails. They were easy and even though they were over a mile, the views were stunning. It was definitely worth it!

Trails, basketball hoops, fields, slides and swings. Great spot for families with young children.
Wonderful museum with extensive archive of local history and persons. Open Tuesday and most Thursdays 10 to 3 April through October.
Such a nice spray park. My toddler isn't a fan of spray parks but he loved this one mainly because the water wasn't too cold. The park is clean and spacious. Will go back
Didn't go to park, but there are trails off of parking area. The trails are nice, few downed trees crossing the path, can be easy to get lost, but also easy to find your way.. This trail has 3 spots with AMAZING views though
Nice musuem
Great trail out in the woods. The path is not paved or really cleared, there are lots of rocks, roots and various tripping hazards so you have to be aware and watch your feet a lot.

The trail is not very scenic it's just forest and more forest, if you are looking for a scenic view try Ashley's Reservoir or Skinner State Park. But if you're looking to get away from life and be alone with your thoughts and quiet wood sounds, this is the place. The picture I attached is the typical view that you will have for maybe 80-90% of the trail.

The farther loop (Neff Loop) is quiet deep into the forest and you rarely see people pass on the trail, so be careful. Also some sections have a decent incline/decline to them, but they're very short. The trails are very well marketed with signs and markers so you really have to try and get lost, however if you stray off the trail I can imagine it's very easy to get lost if you lose the trail.

Parking is very convenient, just enter through the gate/barrier right before the intersection, there is space for maybe 25 cars or so.
Beautiful view, private property and is a steep hill.
I went with my friend to laughing brook wildlife sanctuary and its a beautiful place you can hear the water moving down the brook and there are trails to hike down and there's a gazebo, birdhouses, observation deck, and bridges to walk on and I would recommend laughing brook wildlife sanctuary to everyone to go to.
This park is amazing. Very clean and safe. There's areas for small and bigger children. The sprinklers are super fun. Definitely going back.

Well-marked, nice views on the peak, good work-out on Algonquin trail, but be careful about bobcats as we seemed to see a bobcat right a bit further after the peak.

Nice trail but if you are visiting for the first time , have some extra time . Marking isn’t good and you may get lost and end up crossing the mountain through steeps and jungle .

Google maps takes you to a spot which won’t take you to parking but to some local private property. There is VFW near by where you can start from and there is space for parking too . Advise, go up and come back from the same route.

nice little hike and great place to bring dogs as it is very quiet. Buggy and muddy in spots but excellent workout, well marked and clean
Little place with a picnic area a few slides, swings, 2 playscapes and tons of water fun. Also a little pond with fish and frogs. Great place to spend the day getting wet. Not too crowded.
Nice level hiking with multiple options for loops about 1.5 mile for the East Brook trail, and probably double that for the longer trails. The split rock was my son's favorite and we saw a few different birds at the pond, Yellow Finch and a Grey Catbird
My favorite local hike. You won't run into anyone else, bring a friend, its an easy hike and the view is awesome!
A great place to hike! Beauty surrounds at every turn. Well marked trails. The entrance of the parking lot needs to be repaved.
A beautiful place to hike! We saw lots of unique fungi and plants. Also saw a little snake. This was a good level of effort for the older people in our group who night not be able to handle an intense hike, however it still has an incline in spots. Overall a great place to enjoy the outdoors!

It is a bit more difficult to go hiking here now that the VFW put a gate across their bridge. I've been meaning to look into the other entrance but I haven't had a chance yet.
Hunting is not allowed. Make sure when you bring your dog it stays with you as there are loose chickens and a pet pig roaming next to trail head.
Nice trails , but gets super muddy after rain . Also this mountain is LOADED with ticks so be propery prepared.
An amazing, beautiful preserve with some well maintained trails. Its worth the trip to experience the beauty of it.
There is a nice park here and a great set of trails for hiking. The hikes can be about one to two hours and the trails are well marked.
so far not good
