Our family Loves the Maine Discovery Museum!! We brought our 5year old granddaughter Saturday, She had a Great Time!! It had been a little while since our last visit and we were pleased to see the new exhibits!! Tomorrow is our 3year old granddaughters turn and I invited a friend and her 3yr. old to join us! We were impressed as usual Saturday with how clean and inviting the whole facility was! Thank You for keeping the Children’s Museum a Great Place for Fun and Imagination!!!

Me and my 2 year old had a great time. We are not from maine and were just visiting and it turned out to be a great time. We spend most of the day there. There are 3 floors with different activities, clean restrooms, and staff was helpful.
We decided to come to the museum on a cold afternoon while visiting figuring that it might be interesting but not expecting much. It turned out to be super cool. They have so many really neat machines from old snowplows to tractors to model T conversion snow mobiles and even trains. We are so glad we came. It was well worth the visit. We spent 2 hours in the museum and could have easily spent another 2.
A great piece of mixed architecture styles represented at the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation house. It's wonderfully accentuated with a "creepy" tree carving and appropriately designed wrought iron fence. Don't forget to take your picture in front of the unique main gate.
This is an awesome museum! There are memorials outside too. Reasonably priced, scavenger hunts for adults and kids. Well worth your time!
A great stop to break up a drive. Gorgeous house and fencing. Gives such a spooky vibe. Houses on this block are beautiful- rest of the town is a bit sketch

House of one of my favorite Horror novelist. Victorian mansion, spiders, bat-winged creatures, and a three-headed reptile all decorate the black wrought-iron. It’s in a very quiet neighborhood so you can just park right in front of it.
This is a great place to visit. They a have a beautiful walking path, and there is places to have picnics and just good quality family time. I have seen wedding pictures taken there and it's perfect with the bridge and water fountain. If you need to get back in touch with nature or just want to have a relaxing time, this would be it. As for restrooms, they do have portables there for use.
So much history! Galen should have been proud to gather all of that history together! Loved the variety of transportation types. Loved the snow plow history especially. So neat and for a small entry fee was a great way to spend a couple hours.
It's always so nice and peaceful. There are multiple trails including the board walk. Trails are well marked and mapped. When you do run into others in the trail everyone is friendly and nice. There are places to sit, bike trails, a porter potty, and different types of terrain to walk on which is nice. It's a great local getaway.
It's worth the stop. The house is really nice and the tree carving is even cooler. The detail in the iron fence was amusing. If you're going up to Acadia, it's not a long detour at all.

I gave my girlfriend a few kisses on the cheek as we where admiring thw art and a yonger gentleman who was on in the morning came up behind us and had yelled at us "no making out in the museum" and proceeded to glare at us untuil we left and it made the experiance very unpleasant.

We had friends from out of state visit and did Mount hope walking tour. We were greeted by a mom and child. After we all paid and all the others arrived that were touring as well, we were informed that this child who had just finished six grade was guiding the tour because the mom said she was better at it. The child acted like a child throughout the fiasco tour reading from a paper, constantly tripping over all the words, saying she wasn't even going to try and say a lot of them, showing her mom the paper and her mom telling her how to say the words. She was leaning/sitting on the graves, we all could hardly make out most of what she was reading. It was the worst money ever spent. I work at a business where people are asking me daily what there is to do in this area and I had been recommending this all year because I walk there and love it. I even printed out the ad and it's hanging where all could see it. We never even was shone the memorial that was in the picture. Or any memorials there. Was told it was 90 minutes but lasted under an hour. It was agonizing to tough this out and we all couldn't wait for it to end. I would like a full refund and won't refer this anymore to anyone.
UPDATE: THE GENTLEMAN THAT USUALLY GIVES THE TOUR SAID HE WAS UNABLE TO DO THE TOUR SO HAD THE ABOVE DO IT IN A PINCH. HE OFFERED TO REFUND US AS WELL AND GIVE US HIS TOUR. I'VE HEARD FROM OTHER THAT HE IS GREAT AS A YOUR GUIDE! THANK YOU

We did a mount hope tour Thursday August 24th and it was a training session for a sixth grade girl leading the tour with her mother in the background. If I could give a zero rating I would. We brought guests with us from our of state and paid the mother because she said she was the tour guide. Then after we all paid we started late and finished early, hardly saw anything and the daughter was attempting to read a print out. Unable to pronounce a lot of it. It was a huge rip off and we'd like our money back! We didn't pay for a bring your daughter to work day training session for a sixth grader.
This is a very well made statue of that great lumberjack Paul Bunyan He stands eather thirty one (31) or thirty two feet tall (32). Parking is not close so I parked across the stree in the Circle K parking lot that has a sign for Circle K customers cars will be towed at customer expence. Sincce it was a Sunday afternoon I took since I was only there fir about 10 minunits. No Babe the blue ox.
Just the 31-foot statue. There was no plaque that I could see. And of course, there is a no climbing the statue sign. No bail money, so I refrained.
I had no idea that Paul Bunyan myth started in Bangor, ME. So, when I heard they had a stature of this fellow, I had to check it out. It's worth a drive by to see this fellow if you are in town.
Old history preserved in its original look some were repaired. The Willys military jeep and the ford military jeep run and drive. $10 admission for adults under 18 yrs free 🪖senior discount. Looking through history kept me smiling and giggling.
This place is incredible. Hard to believe there is a free park if this caliber, where you can hike or bike, this close to the city! And the big walk is super unique. Very cool. A great place to relax for a bit after a long day or week at work.
This park has been here for ages and had it's good and bad time.
The City has done a nice job of cleaning up the park and keeping the fountains running.

Beautiful park with a lot of benches and picnic tables. The park has waterfalls and a beautiful color changing fountain is soothing and tranquil.
Cascade park is great for a quick walk, leads to a field. Great place for a picnic, and usually very clean
Well maintained trials, not at all busy in the morning, and perfect maps along the way on easy to read placards.
Lovely place for kids. I used to go to museums like this as a kids. Looking at the slice of life in different times is always fun. Good if you're on a road trip and need an hour or two to kill check it out.
Had a great time taking our daughter here. We will definitely be back when she's a little bit older so she can enjoy it more!
Perfect for my four year old, but not enough to do for my eight or thirteen year old. They did find some things interesting but it’s geared towards a bit of a younger crowd. It was a good way to spend some time leaning on a rainy day though. Don’t forget to use your science museum reciprocity benefits here! We got in for free using our home museum membership.
If you are in the area you should go see this house. The other houses around it are neat as well. House built in the late 1800s are so neat. Plus, this is on a regular street, so you just park along the street. Take it all in, so walk along the sidewalk and take your time. We were there July 3rd, and it was overcast a bit. Mosquitoes were there, and all trees were in bloom, and so were the wild strawberries on the left side of the fence line by the green frog.

Love walking the city forest. Plenty to see and enjoy a nice walk at any skill level. Lovely view and peaceful.
Delightfully creepy and odd, this is a brief must-see for fans of Stephen King's "It". We parked behind the Cross Insurance Center and walked around to the statue on a rainy Saturday. It's much bigger than you expect.
Perfect activity for a rainy day (or sunny!). Brought my 2.5 & 5 year old and we could’ve spent all day. It’s 3 levels, each floor has multiple activities to do. There was a reptile touch & talk that we just missed. We saw that this is a museum in the reciprocal program that our Florida museum membership was apart of - and Sam made it so easy to get in free with our pass. The gift shop is so affordable. Mason was so helpful when my son asked if he could put coins in a donation tornado thing, he took his own wallet out and that just was so sweet. We can’t wait to return!

What a fun surprise it was to stumble upon this place with an almost 4 year old. I wasn't sure what to expect but the exhibits were so fun and well thought out - my daughter did NOT want to leave. Great job to the staff that maintains and runs everything - there is something for every kid.
What an amazing treasure in Bangor Maine! Packed full of so many beautiful machines from cars, trucks, to even a train! Friendly staff and so clean.
Myself and a group of my coworkers arrived in Bangor, tired and late at night. The next morning we woke up to find ourselves in the heart of Stephen King's country. It was rainy and grey the next day, but that didn't stop any of us from wandering around. The first thing we saw after leaving our casino lodgings was the Paul Bunyan statue. Naturally, we wandered over for photos. Much later, I would hear about how the same statue attacked characters in Stephen King's novel It....I can see it now.
Honestly a lot cuter (and cleaner) these days than you'd think!
I stop by to eat my lunch, or swing by on dates and it's always a quiet and relaxed place to visit.

Really fun statue, just wish there was a plaque of some kind explaining the story behind him (for those who don't know it). Also, where's Babe the Blue Ox? 😂
Its so much more than what we thought. History mixed in with the transportation and train cars with video regarding the history of the area including transportation and thigs you could watch. We spent a couple of hours here but probably could have spent longer. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable
It's just a fun stop while out seeing the sights in Bangor. Wish we could have gotten a picture with our truck in front of the statue, but unless you stop on the main road, there is not a good way to it. The area around the statue is clean and well kept.

Nice reuse of a dump. I was confused by some signage at the gate, but the locals that dusted me as they went down the road gave me a clue. Yeah, there’s a trail head down there. Lol.
I followed along, and pulled off to explore a side cut. As I do often I stopped to pick up garbage, whoa, a syringe. Hard pass, not touching it.
Sad and disgusted. I’d watch your pups and children. The great horned owls nesting aren’t a concern, it’s your fellow human.

Sure made my wife happy! The house is beautiful to say the least. The beautiful brick color and cream trim! The woods carving outside was spectacular. Many tourists stopping by for pictures. No entrance but easy to view from the sidewalk with plenty of room for street parking for us gawkers!
Not much to say about this museum other than it is absolutely awesome. My kids love coming here, and we've been a few times with more to come. Very affordable, kids are free, so it's less than 20 bucks for my wife and I. Do the scavenger hunt, you'll easily spend more than an hour admiring everything.
Very nice little park!! Plenty of space to sit or play around the fountain and gazebo area. Additional trails and views above the falls!! Within walking distance of hospital and a quick ride from the mall or downtown.

Great trail, feels like a hike more than just a public trail. Very clean.
There's lots of things for the kids to do and no time limit. My kids absolutely love going and we learn something every time we go.
Brought my 15 month old daughter here to get some energy out. The top two floors had lots of activities for her to explore and engage with. Definitely recommend as it was only $10 per person and hours of fun!
Great trails...but one preserve melded into another as we tried to get to the swamp overlook. We must a took a right at the r.r. bed instead of a left. Loved the bridge!
With an unusually beautiful 70-degree day in November, the trails were rightfully busy. They are well-kept, easy walks and certainly worth an afternoon or even just an hour to go explore. All of the trails are family-friendly, strollers are certainly possible, and seniors with walking sticks are able to easily navigate these trails. The Bangor City Forest is a brilliant, peaceful place yet close to everything Bangor.
I like these Woods even though they tend to be spooky and dark, and there are foot bridges, roots and big rocks all over. One time I got lost in the Bangor Forest on my bike and ended up in this preserve, which is definitely not bike friendly because you have to carry your bike over the bridges rocks and roots , but it is right next door to the Bangor Forest. I was lucky to get out of The Preserve right before dark, because I would have been surprised if I saw the black bear which lived somewhere around in there and wanders around in the Bangor Forest as well. But I think the bear is used to people, because one lady I talked to saw the bear three times-- first as a cub then a little older and then a third time and on its legs it's maybe 6 ft tall now.

We were here for the bog walk, but the whole area is pretty great - magical, even. The forest and the crunchy gravel paths, then the bog walk is a boardwalk through various areas of a wetland, including a wide open space with great views. It's really a world apart! The parking is easy and just to the bog walk and back isn't very long. The boardwalk is made of composite wood and something about it (at least on our visit) creates a lot of static electricity, so your hair may stand up or you may shock other people in your party!
Just on the outskirts of Bangor behind all the shopping outlets this gem is to be found. The trail is very natural, meaning you walk in part over the natural obstacles like roots, leaves or stones. Other parts of the trail are.more tame or have additional attractions, like bog crossing bridges. Some of the trail is more of a steep hill, most is plain and even for the not so much agile doable. What makes this a true pearl is how close to nature you feel. From ponds to trees and rocks, everything feels very untouched and primeval. A tiny piece of paradise a stone throw away from civilization.
Beautiful place for a walk or a stop to have lunch. So fun and relaxing. Especially great on a hot day. We had a great time exploring this little gem!
Lots of nice trails. Well maintained and not too crowded. Bring bug spray or wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts, because there are mosquitoes and biting flies in places. Still, a nice place to walk.
Update - we have been here 4 times now and it's always a great experience. Over 600 acres of forest and almost 10 miles of trails. Our last visit was 10/08/22 and the fall colors were amazing and so were the crisp blue skies!

The park is gorgeous. Plenty of park benches to sit on a few picnic tables and a walking trail. It has a gazebo to look at however no seating. The huge disappointment is the water fountains are not running.

Pretty place to go all year-round. Nice place to be with family, friends or loved 1's just walking around and enjoy the day. Water fountain is always nice in the warmer weather. The water is still greatly appreciated in the colder weather. Beautiful surroundings to see.
A small but very nice park with a water fountain feature and a couple of Man constructed cascading waterfalls. There are a couple of paths to walk up the hill and a reasonably sized grassy area for what loomed to be a wedding reception while we were there. We walked up the path to find a very large haying field which we also walked our dog around.
Beautiful little park right by the hospital. Has a couple nice seating areas near the fountains. Also has some trails for people who want to walk around into the wooded trails. There aren't toys for kids, but there's plenty of nature to explore.

We had a lovely time visiting for the winter decorations. This years theme was the Nutcracker and the rooms were all well done. It was only $5 and you have access to the first floor which includes 4 rooms, hallway, and small gift shop/museum. You can also vote for your favorite room. I believe our host was Carol(might have the wrong name!) but she was informative and polite. Some cool local history!
Did the haunted ghost walked and absolutely loved it! Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and fun to listen too! He also had a great sense of humor when random people drove by and yelled out the window. Great activity for local and tourist alike! I learned a lot about Bangor that i never knew before.

Gomez Park is a small quiet place at the junction of the Penobscot River and the Kenduskeag stream. It is noteworthy only as a stopping point for an early European explorer. There are no amenities. There is a small commemorative plaque.
The steps down path is crazy. 🚶♂️👣🌳🌿🌲 Wish it was a little less technical. 🙏🏻🤔🤯📚💻
The historic Thomas A Hill House features a small but fascinating collection of furniture, artifacts, and art. It's also believed to be one of Bangor's most haunted buildings. BHS offers holiday and member-only events in the Hill House. The annual Ghost Tours, Darker Mount Hope Cemetery Tour, and Devil's Half Acre tours are among the best known of its affordable walking tours.
If you'd like English history you will definitely love this museum. It has artwork clothing military weapons it has a little bit of everything there it's just a really great place and if you get a chance go and see it
Really beautiful! We were visiting from California and hiked the trail with our 2.5 year old daughter. She loved hopping off the rocks on the trail and walking on the foot bridges. We went in mid October so most if the leaves were down but there were still some really beautiful colors. It's a very easy 2mi hike but great to do with kids

Great place to take your kids for a day out
My wife two-year-old and I did this hike Sunday afternoon. I would love to come back with my mountain bike sometime. It looks very challenging and like lots of fun. Probably about 2 miles doing the longest loop. It is also a very scenic and rough trail.
