Cannot rate as it was not open when we got there on Saturday at 10am. Had two little very disappointed.

I had high hopes for the Hamilton Toy Museum, as did my excited children. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Despite the museum's advertised opening time of Saturday at 10AM, we arrived punctually only to find it closed.
We even waited for some time in the cold hoping for someone to show up. It's incredibly frustrating and disheartening to plan a family outing only to be let down by the lack of punctuality on the museum's part. If you're only open once a week, the least you can do is ensure you're open as advertised.
Free to visit, had lots of toys for my son to play with. Very nice owner. Interesting toy mementos for parents to ogle at too!

A lovely 90 minute tour of a rich white man's lavish home with state of the art running water and gas technology. The guides are fun and play their characters well. There's a little kitchen surprise sitting your tour.

The museum has a guided tour, which is cool. I took the guided one for an hour, and it was packed with info. If you're not into guided stuff, you can wander around on your own. They've got some really interesting art pieces. Just a heads up, parking isn't free.
Great place to view, touch and learn about some exotic reptiles! A small place with such a wealth of resources! Me and my kids had a fantastic time here! Kudos to the instructors doing the animal interaction part 👏 🙌
We had a wonderful time at Little Ray’s. The animals are treated very well and cared for. The facility itself is very clean and the staff are great! We viewed 3 shows while we were there and they were exceptional. Christian, was very knowledgable and passionate about the reptiles which made the experience even more memorable for our family.
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that it has been at least 15 years since last visiting AGH. So much missed opportunity.
So glad we finally made an effort to stop in. Taking advantage of free admission available on Thursdays we spent several hours exploring the three exhibitions currently on level one (Wonder, میں اپنی ماں کی بیٹی ہوں ….. I am my mother’s daughter and Breathing in China: Art, Ethics, and Environment). We also spent considerable time on level two looking through the permanent collection. What a privilege to see so many works by exceptional Canadian artists such as Norval Morriseau, Emily Carr, Alex Colville, Lawren Harris, and more.
Looking forward to our next (much sooner) trip to the gallery.
We had an awesome time here ! We spent 1.5 hours here. All the animal enclosures were very well kept and clean. Don't let the location or outside appearance fool you. There was lots to see but the best part was the theater show they put on about every half hour. The host, Paul was great, very informative and friendly. Very reasonably priced for the general admission, would have loved to meet the sloths but seemed pricey, I get they need to make money due to being a rescue. Would recommend for people with younger kids.

My Brother had his wedding in the Coach house, it was a small and cozy little space for the service.

Ample parking and a great place for photos anywhere around the castle or the huge park surrounding it.

There is also a ton of history to be learned if you decide to tour the castle, Its pretty much a time capsule. Everything from the city, the first Prime Minister and his family, old technology, etc. Lots of history and info.

I suggest taking a tour close to Christmas. The place is fully decked out the way the did it back then....it's pretty neat.

Went to the mum show. Great show, Medieval Theme was well done. Worth the money and the time to see.
Little Rays is so much fun! I signed up for the Sloth Experience, and got to meet Iris! Braedon, our guide, was super friendly and knowledgable. I got to cuddle and feed Iris -- it was so adorable. I've always wanted to see a sloth in person, so this was a huge bucket list item for me. There are other sloths you can view in their enclosure, and they are so cute to watch. The other animals are great, too! I would 10/10 visit again.

This place is absolutely gorgeous! Perfect for a day picnic in summers, watching the season change in fall and winters too. Perfect spot for clicking memorable pictures, weddings and even first dates. It's a popular location for film shoots, particularly hallmark movies. This place has my heart.

Mum show was fantastic 😊 As always, a beautiful place to go for a walk, too!
I had such a wonderful experience at the AGH! The front desk staff were super nice when I said it was my first time visiting and gave me the rundown of the gallery. The permanent pieces are gorgeous and I was beyond happy to see multiple Lawren Harris and Emily Carr paintings there! In my own city! The gift shop is also stocked with so many books. I can’t wait to visit again :)
Great spot to explore, brought my young kids with me and though I had to hold them back in places, even they had a great time

Beautiful works with a selection of appealing modern art and classic styles. The installation with the vintage VW which still isn't complete, can entertain for quite a while due to the detail

There's a little cafetera section (food and drink not allowed by the installations, naturally) and a great giftshop that offers both lower budget to very high budget items

The gallery is trying to aquire a painting for permanent collection and I'll submit a pic with the info and QR code, it's a lively and submersive 2 part painting, I hope they can raise the funds because it's fantastic

Idk if it was the main entrance but it sucked in terms of being a visible, obvious entrance, probably my only critism
The location looks dubious, but the Zoo itself is amazing. We did a private appointment this time, which was spacious, relaxed and informative. The sloth was obviously comfortable being passed around and fed by strangers. The other animals we passed were in very well maintained enclosures. The staff are extremely well trained and knowledgeable.

Admittedly we went on a bit of a dreary day (weather wise), with a thunderstorm appearing at the end of our visit, serving to both clear the park out, as well as dampen our resolve to see the gardens in the back.

We took a tour of the estate, while the staff was knowledgeable and friendly, I found it quite disheartening that the estate itself was in an early state of disrepair.
It's effective enough to tell a story and tour through, certainly - but compared to similar places in other countries the peeling wallpaper and subtle cracks in the paint, along with some of the warping wood throughout the property leads one to wondering why these things are tolerated when you'd never see anything of the sort in any other commonwealth nations national historic site.

Certainly worth a visit, and we would have loved to see the gardens in the back, but don't expect to be blown away with opulence as you might expect from other "castles"

Absolutely amazing experience with a tour guide booked in advance, we're able to travel back in those times when Hamilton just started to emerge and establish as a newly built community. Having a tour guide at this place is absolutely necessary as you're going to learn a lot of facts and history, as well as all the questions answered. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to provide the best experience.
Great experience with my family here, this is a reptile sanctuary so all animals were rescued and they do not offer animals for sale.

They have a show in the theatre every 20 minutes, very informative in the cute theatre surrounded by reptile cages.

It does cost for entry, 2 and under are free, I paid about $55 for 1 adult and 2 children to go. Fair price, and it goes to them maintaining the sanctuary and the animals.

Great experience for the kids, thanks for the educational experience.

Great day trip for family. Affordable tour that includes a kitchen demo. Staff are in period attire . Military museum and interesting kitchen garden that lets you smell and taste some fruits and herbs. Kids had fun playing in the military room and trying military clothes on the first floor. Great location for photoshoots. Saw some doing engagement shoots.

Beautiful park! If you never been here before you should visit. Great garden, lovely fountain, park and splash pad!
Small and simple but very interesting
First, I didn't realize it was in such a weird area... Downtown Hamilton, but entrance is in the alley or parking structure, with homeless people sleeping right by the walkway. Very bizarre and had a bad vibe.

Parking was like $4 or so.

But once you are in, the place is clean, open and very cool. We were able to tour a couple exhibits that were open. Mostly modern art, but had a few halls with 19th century paintings, which were of course great.

Ticket prices are a bit high for what they offer; the museum is not big at all. However, we decided not to worry and just enjoy it. We did have a great time.

Beautiful place. Well kept grounds. View of the lake. We witnessed 2 weddings there, obviously a great venue.
Lots of beautiful flowers, a garden that belongs to the castle and they grow stuff there for sale and own use.
Saw people with pets, walking with strollers. Great spot. We enjoyed our time there.

Great experience, and I definitely remember visiting when in Hamilton.
Only guided tours are allowed, so you can't go into the Castle on your own. But worth it. The tour takes about an hour and 20 mins. Very fun. We had a wonderful guide.
The Castle has an interesting history, and lots of character. Our group was small, which I learned later we were lucky to have. Our friends had 12 in their group, and they said it was too crowded. We had 8, including 3 kids. Perfect size.
I recommend checking if the kitchen is open, because it generally is and you get to taste some yummy things prepared in the Castle kitchen from old recipes.
We all enjoyed the tour. I honestly recommend it.

This was an excellent tour . It went into the history of Dundurn Castle. You could almost feel what it would have been like . Our tour guide was fantastic!!
Wow, as we arrived I was wondering what to expect but don't let your self be fooled by the outside of the building.

Its a small place, with lots of love to every single creature being. The animals are well taken care for. In there "education show" you learn a lot about snakes, lizards, spiders while the time just goes by without being noticed. Even my li'l one loved the "show". You can really tell that Paul has a passion for what he is doing and had a few points to let you think about and wonder. Super interesting and educational.
- some animals (spider high five, snake tree or lizard spikes just for example) were allowed to be touched which sure was one of the highlights there today

I'm super impressed and can't wait to come back to learn more about all theses li'l wonderful animals.

Oh, I should add on everybody from the team crossing our way was very friendly, smiling and welcoming. It was just a joy over all to be here.

This is an interesting place to visit. There are so many rooms to see and history to think about.
The only reason I'm giving it only 4 stars is because the group is pretty big for the size of most of the rooms. For us, we had this group of 5 who thought it was their own personal tour. So they would take their time looking at the rooms and taking pictures while the rest of us would have to wait. Then the tour guide would start explaining the room before everyone was in.
I would definitely recommend visiting.

Dundurn Castle is so worth the visit (and only about $15/person)!
The tour lasts about 1 hour.
Parking is free.
You'll have to book tickets online — but you might also be able to walk in and book in person (if it's not a busy day). You can also see (online) how many others have already booked for each tour guide sessions.
We went at 2pm on a Tuesday and it wasn't busy. Parking was easy.
Our tour guide (Michael) was excellent!
When we went, they also had a "cook" that gave us small shortbread squares.
The castle itself feels like a big, old mansion — rather than a "castle". But it's still fascinating.

A great place to spend the whole day with family and friends. A nice playground with swing area, splash pad, picnic table and whole wide ground to do tons of activities. They have free parking lot, washroom, a big stage for any concerts. A conservatory is in within the park that closes on 5 pm.

Visit to the castle was beyond my expectation! The guide was very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained MacNab’s family and every room, design and details in the mansion. A must visit if you’re in Hamilton. I brought my kids (5, 8, 9) with me and they also loved it!

Accidentally found this place, and it's so beautiful! The tropical greenhouse is a breath of fresh air and even has a corner with a take that you can work while enjoying the beauty. They even gave you the option of taking a tree home to plant for free. There are so many fun things to do with your family. The splash pad and playground are perfect for toddlers. It is next to the main road, so just be extra vigilant. Sufficient parking and more provided during their events. The rose garden is stunning! There is so much more to say, but i think you should see it for yourself.

Absolutely incredible experience! Came in for a visit on a Thursday (free admission day) it was not too busy at all, no wait times and no large crowds. There is a great deal of art to explore; tons of local, Indigenous, and Canadian artists to appreciate! Overall an amazing experience, would definitely recommend to anyone in the area that has some free time; a very enjoyable way to spend a few hours of your day! :)

Absolutely beautiful place to breathe fresh air, see some fruits, and learn a lot from the signs posted. The tiny quails that live there are such a delight. I recommend this place to anyone, it is free!!! Expect to spend 1/2 hr here if you're super quick but I could see an hour being spent here. Benches and even tables with chairs are there if you wanted to read or sit.

My son loves it!
A wonderful place to take visiting friends and family or poke around on your own. There is always something new. It is definitely a mature space but they occasionally host events for youngsters. Curation is some of the best in the country and has driven so many sub-movements in the city and beyond. Be sure to check out the entire gallery as everything is worth your while. From Norval Morrisseau to your new favourite (who you’ve never heard of). Plus the gift shop and purchasing gallery is amazing too!!
Great place to go with a kid on a rainy day or for a date. Lots of different animals, all of them are being kept in great condition. Employees are incredible - they are very knowledgeable about the animals and bring them to you to meet and touch. Loved It there!
It was my baby's first time at the zoo and he loved every second of it as well!
A wonderful place to visit any time of year to immerse yourself in wonderful art and exhibits. Tons of local and Canadian pieces. Plenty of underground parking and walking distance to the downtown core. Gift Shop on site with plenty of things to buy. There was no lineup when we visited and the kids really enjoyed it!

A beautiful Gallery with some amazing pieces. We visited on a Sunday to look at their latest gallery centered around Indigenous beading in art and it was absolutely spectacular. I would recommend paying this place a visit if you have a good appreciation for the arts.
Interesting place if you are a club seat holder
I photographed Cori + Chris' wedding here recently and can't wait to return! The team went above and beyond to ensure my couple had an amazing time, and I enjoyed using aspects of the venue for creative portraits with the couple. As well, having Sheraton Hamilton across the street provided an efficient spot for getting ready photos followed by a short walk to the venue. Check out the AGH for your wedding day, and don't overlook the cool hallway lighting - great potential for creative wedding photographs if you lean into it!!
Interesting place with a lot of stuff that reminds you of your childhood!
Really disappointed about the hall of fame. We though that it wouldn't only be the heads of the honored football players, but history and objects. Also, from the station, really hard to get there since there are no indication and the staff doesn't know where it is.

This is a nice and beautiful fountain at Gage Park. They usually turn on the fountain during the warmer months. It's a rather peaceful area to be while observing the fountain. There is a nice and beautiful walkway up to the fountain.
McMaster University museum offers exhibitions linked with the university history. You can find there interesting exhibitions that might help you to understand both historical background of the school but also philosophy and biograms of its founding fathers. I recommend this museum to visit for people interesting in history and princies of academia.

This review includes checklist of 12 pieces in the Ethereal Installation by Tim Whiten. On the eve of March 17th, 2022 full moon, I specifically came to take in Ethereal by Tim Whiten. This alchemically potent installation centres on air as the first of four pieces focusing on an elemental metaphysical examination.

Photographing and videorecording were not allowed. However I did find a stairwell art sculpture comprised of coat hangers that semi-echoed the sentiments of this airy collection. This coat hanger basket quasi-mirrored Tim Whiten's installation.

Ethereal had a gentle yet solid ritualized effect of very conscious and deliberate object placement. It consisted of 12 objects.

As I meandered without a catalogue to guide me, I paused and considered in what direction the kaleidoscope was pointing, my mind began wondering about the cardinal directions in more than one belief system. It was a genius loci feeling of finding a new astrolabe of sorts...

The physicality of this building reminded me of a sparse robin's nest that had optimally placed its eggs to achieve best effect.

This was my first time visit to this small on-campus art gallery, and I was met with a simple, understated and welcoming grace by staff in this less-is-more footprint space. The attendent was overly modest, yet this was refreshing as it lent itself very well to opening up dialogue. In choosing to speak further with them about the Ethereal exhibit, they opened up freely and enthusiastically shared their knowledge and interpretations.

Excellent free museum on McMaster's campus. Their seasonal exhibitions offer different perspectives and types of art on a regular basis.

This beautiful fountain is part of Hamilton history. It has beautiful turtles and geese spouting water all summer long. Why not give it a five star review? That is an easy one. It's closed from October to March and is often polluted with garbage. The latter point is not the city's fault - it's people who have no respect for their surroundings.
Couldnt get in since the hours are only 2 days a week for 3 hours each day. The Tigercats use the facility so it cannot be opened all the time. Wish it was because we missed it.

This place is great full of character, you sit on chairs & couches and the sound is amazing. I've driven over an hour numerous times to see small intimate concerts that you don't get anywhere else. Love it..
As the standing is for the time being, a plan has been created to repurpose the building. It will no longer be the "Canadian football hall of fame" but will be workshop for students from Mohawk college and McMaster university and members of community to work on problems with in the City of Hamilton in terms of infrastructure, modes of transportation, and other ideas and how to solve them with modern technology.
This building will be renamed as "CityLabs"

The accoustics in this place are amazing to enjoy musical offerings. And the seating variety of chairs & couches gives a welcoming, homey intimate setting. Such a great use for some of these old historical buildings.
I am a diehard cfl fan that grew up in Milton Ontario moved to Edmonton alberta when I was 18 .I became a Edmonton Eskimo season ticket holder in 1981 and have been since.I finally went back to Ontario for a holiday in June of this year I decided to go to the cfl hall of fame in Hamilton .After paying for a parking spot we walked up to the building we found out it was closed indefinitely It was a very sad day for me to find it was closed as I have tried to support the cfl for many years . It just shows me how much the East supports this Canadian game of ours.yours truly, deeply disappointed football fan from the west.

really worn down and not kept up. to hold the history of the CFL and Canadian football in such a shabby out of the way place is sad. I'd recommend checking it out and supporting it so it hopefully gets better.
