Nice walking trails — one is stroller friendly — and a sweet visitors center. Lots of space for kiddos to run around indoors. Very welcoming and knowledgeable volunteers!! They had prepared some little arts and crafts for the 5ish and under crowd.

Glad we drove over here with our little ones and escaped the heat!

Also there’s a solid outdoor area to bring a picnic that’s right outside the nature center.
Free local nature center in our backyard! They have monthly activities for children ages 3-10 and topics for this summer include salamanders, monarch butterflies, ospreys and more! There is also the option of a scavenger hunt; we opted for the indoor hunt due to the weather.
What a nice refuge with a serene lake and soft underfoot wood chip forest paths. Can see a stuffed fully upright polar bear and pet a stuffed beaver whose been petted so much it’s got thinned out fur inside the center. Nice to go on days they are hosting events and activities.

A respite amidst the chaos of DC. My toddler and I chose to spend three days here while accompanying my husband on a business trip. Great visitor center, friendly staff, and beautiful scenery. There is also a pollinator garden out front and kid’s activities inside. We saw a wild turkey on our way in, a loon swimming on the lake, and some trees that had been cut by a beaver. Dogs are allowed on all trails. Highly recommend.
Small but a sweet visit. Good volunteers and lots of local history

Patuxent Wildlife Refuge exceeded my expectations! The hiking trails offered a perfect blend of scenic beauty and tranquility. The well-maintained paths made exploring nature a joy. The visitor center was informative and engaging, providing valuable insights into the local ecosystem. The children's exhibits were a hit, striking an excellent balance between education and entertainment. Overall, a fantastic destination for nature enthusiasts of all ages.
Big field and decent playground, very big slope and trail for bike or walkers, it closes at 6
It's was an interesting experience learning about the early true history of Maryland one of its benefactors.
It is a nice place for soccer, ground tennis and to bike, and walk in the trails .
Pretty cool place. I definitely need to check out the annex the staff there seemed starved for for human interaction. Wasn't super big but pretty cool.
Definitely a must see for Laurel locals and anyone interested in history at all! They staff know so much about this little piece of land and it's so interesting to see what all has been uncovered. We also did the "hidden spaces" tour and it was incredible! Mr. Graham did an excellent job of telling stories and revealing the houses' history.

We are interested in ghost tours, if they are ever offered again!
I love the nature center and the place itself, although they removed a small bridge that used to be on the water and I miss it!

Very live an busy playground that is comfortable an it's a nice size to have a birthday party or any type of gathering with family or friends.
Nice play ground. Which is located in a silent neighborhood. 2 mins from food lion.
Hiking the viper trial. Great loop to warm up
All I can say it was Historical
Never lived back than. And if
I did. I would know (we're all
The bones were.)
Great trails, nice visitors center, good for walking, hiking, biking, birding, etc
Had a great time with the family visiting. For a small fee you can tour the house self guided. The real plus was a scavenger hunt for the kids, something all of these types of places would benefit from. Not a long stay but an hour well spent.

Note: The art center just downhill does have a few exhibits if you ask the front desk inside, buying another 20 minutes.
I normally go to this parks for walks with my sister in the afternoon or evening. There usually aren't many people around but the people we do meet on our walks are nice. The tracks are clearly marked as well.
A really nice park. I take the pooch and we explore the trails. My only feedback is that there are no pet waste stations or trash cans along the trails. I bring my own poop bags, but I don’t want to carry said poop for 3 miles. All other parks have pet waste stations. If you want the park to stay clean, have somewhere to deposit trash/poop bags. It’s a pretty basic feature of parks these days.
Our favorite pit stop off of 95! Great for kids with activities, crafts, etc. Lots of room to run around and play!
Nice and quiet at the time
Few scooter plays on the field and my pet friends in the dog park.
It's a nice place to visit, walk around, learn some history and just enjoy the view
Small park, nothing special but I usually don't see many people here at all

I absolutely loved this dog park and so did my fur-baby.

The two issues was that we couldn't find it at first -- I ended up having to read a google review to figure out where it was.

The second one was the water fountain is outside of the dog park.

(it is on the trail behind the baseball fields, make a left and go down the wooded area, you'll see it)
What a wonderful place for all beings! 💕
Beautiful eco system with less artificial interference and more selfless love.

Thanks for all the volunteers and donations for keeping a place like this.🙏🙏🙏

May all beings be happy, peaceful, and liberated.
Visited the Herb and Tea Festival at the mansion, an annual event. Found wonderful new vendors and was able to visit some returning vendors. Very family friendly event with a lot of hands-on activities for children and adults. A nice outing.

Excellent part for small kids, a big outdoor gym with tent cover on AstroTurf. Excellent restroom facilities, clean, and well maintained. Call the Howard County Parks & Recreation to reserve a gazebo. This is the second time we’re here, first for my daughter’s shower, and now her daughter’s first birthday. Also the grounds are very well kept, and a system of trails that go down to the river.
Loved this Museum! The booklet and scavenger hunt kept both my teens busy and the garden was so lovely.
Very interesting and informative location for the Laurel Historical Society. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Membership is not needed but deserving.

Beautiful park with lots of paths and tall trees. Walking is sweet here. There's a couple of playgrounds for the little ones, and plenty space for parking.
We went to an egg hunt! The eggs were empty so they could re-hide them, but they gave the kids prizes and had free goodies! It has a great kids’ section that they can explore and it’s free! It’s open every weekend!
Absolute gem of a find to walk your dog or just get away for a few miles. We were one of a few cars parked that afternoon so there was hardly anyone. The museum exhibit was amazing and free (better than ones Ive paid for honestly). The trails are beautiful and surround two lakes. There are a number of downed trees on the dirt trail, so while that is natural, it may not be great if you have a disabled person. Great place to reflect and get exercise too.
The county needs to pretty up this park. It needs a lot of attention aesthetically. But the dog park is great! Secluded so be cautious if you are there alone or at dusk. Follow the trail to the back and there they are!
A must visit place if you like to hike along with a water body. This is very beautiful and not crowded at all. The hike can be tailor to your preference, you could do a one mile hike or a two mile hike or even longer.
$5 per adult, $2 per child to tour the main house where George Washington stayed. Scavenger hunt booklet was a nice touch for kids but the museum itself didn't hold my or my daughters interest. It definitely would have been nice to hear more details from a tour guide.
Art for sale was also on display with an mostly out of place African and Native American theme.

Best free park in the area. Pretty hit or miss on the number of dogs there but this it’s definitely a hidden gem and has plenty of space for sniffing

The one and only place I take my pups. Typically clean, secure, and no issues with other pups or owners, but there are occasional one offs. The county does well in maintaining this property and service to the community.
We really enjoyed touring the estate as we love history. It is a self guided tour & each room had a sign giving all the information you needed. The lady in the small gift shop was very knowledgeable & was able to answer our questions.
Beautiful day to see the National Wildlife Center. It’s between Baltimore & Washington D.C.
Nice parking area, charging stations, picnic tables. It has benches inside & outside along the trails. The trails are dirt & fine gravel. Bring your food. Small bookstore and gift shop. FREE!,!
Donations accepted Handicap bathroom inside. All on one floor you could bring a wheelchair.
Things for kids to do.
Not an actual park. It's just undeveloped and overgrown land with lots of trees.

Small park with a gate that closes at 6 so you don't get much time after work. The trails are only about a half mile on the outer loop.
I love this place! It is so beautiful, big and full of a variety of scenery you can enjoy while taking a walk around. It also makes for great family, senior, maternity, and engagement photo sessions! There are two gorgeous lakes with a bridge between them (Lake Redington and Lake Cash) and a lovely Goose Pond nearby - the views from the trails around them are truly breathtaking!
A little worn. The matting was torn in a few places, but overall a great park! And no one else was there so we had the place to ourselves. Plus we found this cool gazebo down the trail a bit!
Nice, educational museum about the history of Laurel. The staff was very knowledgeable as well. We saw the Poe exhibit there. Nice park w/in walking distance with a walking trail.
First time here. Saw it on the map and was curious to see it. Great place for walking and hiking! The walking path is very long. Also a good place for parties because the pavilion and playground are right next to each other. Parents can easily view their kids as they play.
Muy bonito y turístico
Buen lugar
Overall this is a decent place for a hike and viewing. Very kid and family friendly, bunch of dogs too. Big parking area, visitor center was closed, and there was a single outside bathroom from what I saw. Very flat and easy trails either looping through the forests or along the “lakes.” Honestly nothing special, saw very little wildlife, and there weren’t many places to sit and just soak it in. Relatively crowded on the weekends as well. Don’t forget it’s hunting season so many of the trails are closed and for those you opt not follow the rules and stay on the trails - think again. Overall nothing special hence the 4. Recommend heading up to the less traversed north tract side.
Absolutely my favorite dog park. The water fountains work now! They turned them off for winter. The grass gets mowed on a regular basis. They have a small and large dog section. Very responsible dog owners come by.
Nice little park with a better playground than most
We were fortunate enough to get a tour from Ann and catch the Health in Laurel exhibit before it's gone at the end of the year. One of the best parts of the museum is the kid's area in the lower level. My son will be 3 in March and he loved reading some of the books, exploring the kitchen area, & playing with the train. Next year, he will really be at the perfect age to explore more of the historically accurate toys they have. This museum is just a few miles from our house and I'm really looking forward to next year's exhibit showcasing Laurel's 150th year!
Secluded, cute, and cozy!
Es un buen lugar para llevar a los niños.
Beautiful mansion and grounds nestled in PG County, Maryland. There’s also an arts center on the grounds that hosts pottery classes, which is awesome. Would definitely recommend this as a neat to stop by in the area (it’s also free!)!
Great place for activities but it is not well maintained. The water body is dirty, covered with algae and smells very bad. No wonder the birds were out of the water in this hot weather.
I was out there supporting my niece at her softball game with the Bowie Blue Jays 18u. I appreciated the bleachers with the canopies over top of them on those days, when the sun can be hot.

This park is a hidden gem. It's never too crowded, has a great mix of people and a trail. There's also a baseball field and soccer field. My four year old loves it. Its on a very quiet street. Its cool and shaded with picnic tables.
Nice fenced-in area for dogs to run around and separate sections for large and small dogs but it is unlabeled. There aren't many other features but it IS free so there are often plenty of other dogs there. Not much else in the park though.
It's a hidden gem!!!!

Cons: Gets crowded a lot and needs more basketball hoops. The bathrooms aren't ever open or seem that why as I've never seen them open and I've been coming here since they first built it. The water fountains I have only seen work a few time but water has been hot.

Pros: Has a covered playground which is awesome for hot days and light rainy days. Has a few trails that are beautiful to walk in the fall and spring. Trails have lots of trees so summer time it's very shaded and cool. Trails are also paved so it's stroller friendly which is a huge plus if you want to walk or jog with babies/kids that are still in the stroller. There is a tennis court that is rarely used for tennis lol kids play in there more. Lots of parking and always a space available even when it's crowded some how. A fair amount of handicap parking also. Lots of open field for football, kite flying, picnics or anything else you want to do in an open field. There is a pavilion with lots of picnic tables and grills. Also picnic tables scattered around the whole park even down the trails. Huge rocks to sit on and/or play on they are also nice decor. Lots of trash and recycling cans but not tacky. Scenery is very beautiful. Very well upkeep and friendly people who close the gates at sunset.
I would recommend this park for sure.

The playground is really nice. There's also a tennis court, basketball court, paths to walk on, and public restrooms. The water fountain never works and the restrooms need to be better maintained but overall this park is great
Great park, equipment is in great condition and it is in a very pleasant neighborhood. Never busy and the kids always have fun!
A great place to check out. Very clean and well kept with updating exhibits. It is a tiny museum tho. Great for being Free entry museum! Open most days 1pm-4pm.
Very nice interpretive center with exhibits, knowledgable and friendly staff. On street parking. Walk down past the municipal pool to see the dam for the old cotton mill. For a mill, go about 2 miles north on route for Savage Mill on the left.
