Great park, nice facilities, lots of variety of equipment. Large. Only downside is it's popular and usually busy.
This is a great park! It has a smaller structure for little ones, a bigger structure for bigger kids, bathrooms, tennis court, and walking trail around it! Ample parking and right near the long gate shopping center if you need to do errands or get lunch, too.
Given the size of this park, when you park your vehicle or entering on foot from a different side it normally gave to you a different point of view of the park.
The west side offers a large parking lot and basketball court , restroom, baseball field, and more.
As for today’s weather , it’s ice ice baby 🥶

No public restrooms or picnic
Small parking area
Easy soft launch for kayaks and paddle boards to go 2 miles up river from the dam
Lots of nice trails both easy and moderate difficulty

BE CAREFUL DON’T PADDLE AFTER A BIG RAIN THE WATER IS TOO FAST GOING OVER THE DAM

Had a good time there when it was really hot.

Sometimes parking is an issue.

I appreciate a public restroom and the fact that the caps over the equipment provide shade. It gets really hot and that definitely helps. there are no swings anymore. And a smaller set for toddlers. Overall a decent playground with lots of parking

Not many parking spots but nature is a bliss!
Canoe or swimming is great here. No barbeque or campfires are allowed. Overall cool spot to rest from computer or office
Best park ever. Has everything: A banging playground that kids love. A basketball court, tennis court, and baseball field for kids and adults, a circular running/walking track with trees to one side and field to the other, and a paved running trail that goes over a little river and passes by beautiful flowers and foliage. This is also a nature preserve, so you'll see lots of species of plants, animals, and birds. There's also a pavilion you can use for birthday parties. Free, but first come first serve.
The kids loved this park. It has been a while since I was here. The county put in all new playground equipment. There are tennis courts, basketball courts and a nice path to walk. I enjoyed the path. Depending on what way that you go it can make the workout harder to do because of the incline.

Centennial Park is one of the cleanest and most orderly parks I've been to. The pavilion used was roomy, clean, plenty of tables and set off enough that no other gathering was disturbed. Plenty of parking, a playground for the children, and nice clean restrooms. We had our family reunion there and really enjoyed ourselves. We will return again. You'd have to make sure to reserve way ahead of time.
I have lived in or visited Columbia since 1977. This was always one of my favorite places to come and walk or now a place to bring my grandkids. They have built a new playground on the front side of the lake, over by the pavilions that they rent out. There is no charge to visit. Just be mindful of how fast parking fills up, especially on weekends. On the back side of the lake, there are soccer and softball fields. There are also restrooms available there. You can also rent paddle boats on the front side of the park. That entrance is right of Rt 108.

Great park, lots of families and beautifully maintained. Recently there has been an attempted attack on a lady early in the morning. Always be vigilant even at this great park.

The place itself is 5 stars. It's a very nice dam and if you walk upstream a little you can get to Daniels Dam Trailhead which runs alongside the river and is an excellent walk.
Having said that, parking is extremely limited and there's no location close by that you can park at and walk over. Hence the 4 stars.

Nice park with baseball and softball fields, paved walking trails, woods, and an indoor facility for basketball, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, etc. Concessions and bathrooms indoors

Very cute spot to sit and relax by the water for a little. I saw a heron and a ton of geese! Beautiful wildlife down here <3
Great place to take the dogs or the kids for a walk. The playground for children is fun and fairly big.
Lovely historic building, interesting displays. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Current status 11.12.23 2 slides out of service. Looks like they are slowly updating/ungrading some slides. Lots of parking and shared with a park and ride area. Has 2 playgrounds with a 2-5 area and 5-12 area. No swings but has basketball and tennis courts and areas for walking. Then there are fields in the way back.
There is a pavilion with tables and a grill that you can reserve or just sit in if not reserved.
My 10 yr olds are getting old for the playground but love the basketball. My 2.5 yr old loves both play areas.
Restrooms on site and aren't closed as of yet!

Great place to walk and run. It is very serene and clean. It's also a great place to just enjoy nature & meditate. I hope the community continues to protect the wildlife areas.

It's a beautiful park by the lake. You can walk, run or bike the 2.6 miles paved pathway that encircles the lake.

The park has 4 entrances. Videos are from October 7, 2023 and the photo was taken in December last year when the lake was frozen.
Gorgeous view, quiet setting, nicely maintained facilities, and attentive Park staff.
Clean and peaceful. The pavilion is great to rent out if you want to have an outdoor function. Playground close by for the little ones. Decently maintained
Nice place and a lot space and enjoy the day just the restroom and needs more trashcan.

I love the scenic beauty of this park and how smooth the trails are for walking and running. It's the best place to take your children to the playground and for a family picnic. Best local park in Ellicott City.
Centennial is such a wonderful park. It has something for everyone. It has a paved walking area around Lake (about 2.6 miles total). Many hiking trails are also present. Plenty of benches for resting to just to take in the beautiful views. Plenty of green grass for those who want to picnic on a blanket, read a book, or throw a frisbee. There are covered pavilions (hold from 10 - 115 people) with grills and some with fireplaces and volleyball courts. They also have one mega Pavillion (H) that holds about 300 people and has its own parking lot, playground, baseball field, & volleyball court (rents for $990 for ho co residents and $1025 for non residents). These pavillion can be rented through Howard County Rec & Parks. Park has 2 large playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, boat rentals, public restrooms, and fishing area. Fantastic place to bring family, including your fur babies.

Centennial Park is a public park in Ellicott City, Maryland, managed by the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks. It is a 337-acre park that surrounds Centennial Lake.
A 2.4-mile asphalt trail loop loops around the lake. During certain months of the year, boat rentals are available, as well as a public boat ramp. Hunting, guns, swimming, sailboarding, wind surfing, stand up paddle-boarding, and inner tubing are all illegal in the lake. Except in picnic pavilions, playgrounds, and sports areas, pets are allowed in the park. Pet owners are compelled by Howard County legislation to pick up any and all waste that their pets make. Plastic bag dispensers are strategically placed throughout the park to help maintain it tidy. The leash law in Howard County is strictly enforced.
Centennial Park’s lake, field, forested areas, and wetlands are home to a diverse range of species. A buoy line prevents entry to a Wildlife Region on the lake, which provides a safe spawning area for fish and nesting grounds for birds.
Running, walking, and biking are all permitted on the loop around the lake. There are a number of benches along the loop, as well as pavilions nearby. Water fountains, particularly water fountains for dogs, are also available for public use. As part of the Water Fountain Donation Program, the first water fountain for dogs was just added. The O’Brien family donated the fountain in 2017 in honour of their family dog, Phoenix. In keeping with the program’s goal of reducing the usage of plastic water bottles, the fountain also has a bottle filling station.
looks like permanently closed. I went to there today, it was closed. My friends went to there a few time before (on weekends during official open time), every time it was closed.
This! Family Park has what you need. Space for grilling. Playgrounds walking trails paddle boats! Enjoy nature all around. You can have a celebration out here! Lots of space. Clean and well kept. Safe patrol driving through. I managed to finish a 2-mile walk and enjoyed every bit of it. I managed to take some pictures. Enjoy.

Beautiful place for exploration but there are a lot of hornets and wasps so beware of that. Many people swim and go hiking over here which is nice. The dam is beautiful for photography and cooling off. Lots of pretty graffiti!

Nice walking trail with several playground and picnic areas. Plenty of fishing areas and you can also rent kayaks or canoes. Many large grassy areas that people use foe picnicking. Parking is limited but they do have people assisting with that on busy days you may need to park on the grass.

The park is good place for kids to run around and enjoy for an evening. We went there a bit late and it was just about tonget dark. The weather was good so the place was full...borderline crowded. The swing and play area are kid safe but need parental guidance for kids below 6. The place could have some lights considering they don't have a closing time thats displayed at the venue.

This park is great for all ases. It has nice trails and paved paths to walk, jog or other exercises. It has basketball and tennis courts, etc. The loop is about 1.5mile. Great to bring your kids, it has a nice big playground with slides. This is a Wheelchair and pets friendly. Also, it has nice gazebos in case you want to have a quick bite, plenty parking space. And most important... it has restrooms 🚻:)

Great local park to enjoy the outdoors. Love the lake path, tennis, basketball, play grounds, picnics, and other recreational things this place provides. You can fish here too either off shore or on a boat.

A great place to visit anytime of the year. There is plenty of parking but does get extremely busy on the weekends in the summertime. There is an area to launch kayaks, great fishing both above and below the dam, and numerous trails that take you to ruins, caves, or along the Patapsco River.

Beautiful view and so much to see. Friendly people and they are dog friendly.
Playground includes 2 structures, one of which is very involved & rather unique. There’s not a ton of shade or adult seating besides a large pavilion (You cannot reserve ahead of time, fyi.)
Bathrooms 👍🏼 but no soap 👎
Tennis courts & some trail (didn’t explore)

Part of play structure is blocked off due to damage, not clear if repair will happen 🫤

While playground is not enclosed, it is set back from parking lot some, which helps!

I surprised 😮 can't believe that town is Korean! So beautiful and many shops and restaurants 😍 ❤️
Very nice museum... Lady that works over there is very friendly and helpful.
Next to it there is a children's museum... It will be our next stop.
This is a beautiful, well maintained county park. Nice path surrounding Centenial Lake.
Beautiful view. Not too crowded. Would book a pavilion here in a minute! Definitely worth the money.

Went on a Monday and there was hardly anyone on the trail. The dam was the perfect white noise to drown out the city. I picked up trash in the area, it's pretty clean there, maybe the limited parking keeps it that way. Lots of ticks this time of year. Unsure if I would enjoy swimming here, the water looks clean but smells weird.
This specific pavilion is away from a group of other pavilions, great for privacy. It also has a beach volleyball court nearby. The view is incredible, you have to see it to fully appreciate. The park in general is great for walking. Plenty of shaded walkways. Ample parking space but it could be crowded especially on good weather.
Very nice place. Great for walks, biking, fishing. And whatever else you might want to do outside
As a member my wife and I attend the lunch with history programs. They are once a month on Friday at noon. They are diverse programs, not just about Howard County. We have found them interesting and educational. Check out the website.
Very good. Excellent weather today.
Love this park! If you walk completely around it's 2.4 miles.
We will see the results soon
Cool museum! We learned A LOT about the area and it's eventful history. The staff were friendly and offered us more insight about the floods and demonstrated the phonograph. This was a great addition to an iconic city!
Former Church turned into a Museum about Historic Howard County and Ellicott City. Lovely historical facility run by a staff thats knowledgeable about the local history. It's also a Wedding reception Venue, literally across the street from the Ellicott City Courthouse. You need to contact them about Covid-19 restrictions.
Perfect venue for a social distancing family event. It was clean and has a great view. It was exactly what we were looking for.
It has an awesome view of the lake and the trail. So peaceful
this place is so cool! the stained glass is beautiful from the inside, and it's just a really cozy area. the building itself looks very brooding and dramatic, and the area around it is super friendly (i love the landscaping and all of the sitting areas). whenever it's open, i love stopping by and taking in some of the history, too. the museum has really nice pieces of furniture and clothing from howard county and especially ellicott city's past. it's a really quiet spot, so it's great for some silent reflection, too. honestly, i love just walking around these streets and coming up by this church and the courthouse, as the winding streets make for a fun journey from the busier main street. in the warmer months, the greenery is really appealing, as there are plenty of lush plants in this area, giving it an incredibly welcoming air. it's cute and free! what more could you want?
We really enjoy the playground, and it's especially great for older kids. Several of the features are currently broken and boarded up, and I hope they are fixed soon. The other downside is that it can be hard to keep track of younger kids on the big playground, but there is a small section meant for younger kids.
Edit: There are some nice paved walking trails all around, as well as lots of sports fields and open basketball and tennis courts. These seem well-maintained, and there are outhouses available in a variety of places. There are a couple of pavilions for picnics. One was by reservation only. There is a restroom right near the playground as well.
We visited this park for weekend and we had one event there that we had to attend it. The park is really good they pick up trash can with golf car. They keep park clean. This park also have boating, playing area for kids, barbecues grill, and bench. I love to visit this place again. However, they should have map in entrance of park that we can know area and parking is very less. I have been there few times. I also have to struggle for parking my car.
Small pavilion. 5 metal picnic tables with seating up to 30 or 40. About half covered. Has a volleyball court right next to it.

This is a nice paved trail that goes around a a playground, as well as an althletic center. On the way, it takes you by some water reserves. a but into nature, and by the roadway itself. We liked it for a shorter hike that wasn't "off road."
An inspired building, a former Presbyterian church with original stained glass windows, a bequest from the late Mrs. James Clark.

We were disappointed that the artifacts and exhibits focused on Ellicott City, very little about Howard County. Would like more information about families and history of the entire County.
I went to go see a jazz band here. The place was cozy, but nice! The staff was amazing. I'd definitely come back.
Great pavilion in a great park. Great view of the lake, a volleyball net, trails just down the hill, gorgeous trees. Pavilion G is the bee's knees.
Tiny, cute, free museum, the volunteer was very knowledgeable, friendly, local and a springy 82 years old!
Extremely friendly atmosphere, huge park, lake, jogging and biking trails. Not to mention many goals to hoop on, pavilions at least 7 and huge as well. I would come back again and again like I always have. 3 baseball fields and 2 soccer fields along with boat that you can paddle on too!
Small museum but free to the public when open.
Prominent building with lots of history. Just walk in and you will be greeted by knowledge and friendly staff who will tell you anything you want to know about the fire museum. Kid friendly environment!
