A good pretty place to walk. In summer weekends, you may need to wait for entrance. Parking space is limited.
This was a spectacular place not very much parking a small 10 fee to park but so so worth it. I will never forget this place I honored my sister's death by spreading her ashes to the sea it was perfect. She was 59 years old and loved the sea. I am so at peace we got to do this for her at such a spectacular place and able to walk so far out into the ocean. I'm sure we will be returning for another visit. Thank you
Make sure you wear comfortable footwear. To park is $10, to get there it says private properties but you just drive through that. The houses in the area are breathtaking
Definitely a place to visit in the evening around sundown! Incredibly beautiful! Ignore the signs that say residents only, pay the $10 parking, and walk down to the beach to get to the breakwall.
Natural vibes are alive. Salt water splashing on the rocks, seagulls flying to and fro, gentle wind on your face, smell of the ocean in the air, and the most calm sun setting on the horizon and reflecting on a proud lighthouse.
This was a loverly walk. The light and house are fenced off but it was still nice to walk around and take pictures. We walked along the Dog walk pier/break. It was fun... I don't think I would take little kids. But my 13 yr old had fun exploring.
Lots of signs for 'private roads' but no worries. There is $10 donation parking at the end.

Even if the lighthouse is closed - it's a great view and you can walk out onto the causeway. The causeway is a little rough so be careful if you are mobility challenged.
The Jewel of Cape Ann! So much to discover here-- the Art, History and Culture of the region.

We have been on the North Shore our whole lives and never went to this museum. The Fitz Henry Lane dedicated exhibit is worth the price of three admissions. The history that this museum contains is unfathomable--you really need to go and experience it (and read everything on the walls!!)....its like have you own personal dory in 1850!!
This museum is a true gem. I learned so much about Gloucester's fishing history, as well as its art history. It was so much more than I expected. I especially loved the exhibit on Folly Cove Design and Virginia Lee Burton. I expected to spend about an hour here, but stayed for over three hours without getting overwhelmed by the information. The history and facts are laid out in a clear, interesting, and informative manner. There is much to see and learn here, I highly recommend it.

Amazing museum. My first time in Gloucester and I learned so much about the history of the oldest fishing port in America! The museum was informative and well laid out with diverse subject matter for all. Loved the light house lights on display!
Nice trail for a walk. It took 2 hours to walk from start to finish and almost 4 miles.
Beautiful site on a sunny day. Not a easy site to get to. Private roads, fenced lighthouse, and rocky shore to walk are a challenge. View of Boston in the far distance is neat. The walk out on the large break water was too much for me.

Ravenswood in Gloucester proved to be an ideal park for Lily. Its versatility caters to both short strolls and extended walks, offering a delightful experience for both pets and owners. The park’s appeal lies in its suitability for various preferences, making it a wonderful spot for dog owners seeking both convenience and the option to explore.

Close to Manchester for a coffee or lunch.

Most amazing park I've been to in my travels. Pass the swing ser and the baseball field and BAM, the beautiful ocean with amazing picture quality views! I sat on the rocks, breathed in the sea salt filled air, and my anxiety exhaled into the Atlantic. If your visiting Glouster, this is a must stop!
Very nice lighthouse Along the ocean front.

Went to Ravenswood Park for a walk / hike yesterday. It was such a beautiful day for it: 80 degrees near the end of October! Foliage and paths that makes you feel like you are in a story book! Ledge Hill path(orange) has the scenic vista spot, and at least a couple of places where you could sit and have relaxing moment to meditate or picnic.
I enjoyed it, and will definitely go back!
This was the most incredible experience I could have imagined. I’ve had the chance to swim with Whale Sharks, the water was too cold for that this time, but we saw some amazing creatures on our aquatic Safari. An enormous pod of dolphins, and at least a dozen whales, playful calfs included.
Booked our Whale Watch for late Oct and wasn’t sure if it was too late in the season to see many whales. We were very wrong. Ride out was great and after about an hour ride the crew found Humpback Whales feeding and we had a once in a lifetime experience. Whales so close you wanted to reach out and touch them. The Captain was amazing and kept us close but gave the whales the distance and respect they need and deserve.

4ft seas are not easy. Sea sickness was abound on our journey. The staff were super helpful trying to keep everyone comfortable and offering all sorts of solutions to sea sickness. We did see five whales on the trip, two breached, but we missed it unfortunately. I'd recommend going in this again, but take a look at the marine forecast a day or two before you plan on going. Anything over 2ft seas will likely bring on area sickness. Take your area sickness meds!

This park had a few mild walking trails and some more strenuous trails with slick rocks in the rain. It was super cool to go walking in with my wife and my vizsla. We can now say we've touched both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

A quaint museum in the beautiful and historic town of Gloucester about an hour's drive from Boston. Right now, the museum is showing a must-see exhibition of Edward Hopper. It was in Gloucester 100 years ago that Hopper became the Hopper we know today!

If you get a chance to go see the whales!!🐋
Go! We saw 1 male whale and 1 female whale on the day of our North Atlantic Ocean ride! it was a beautiful day!
Thank you, Robert, from Massachusetts, who gave us the tickets. Thank you for the blessing! Thank you to all the crew from,
The 7 Seas whales Rides,as the ticket taker!! Very friendly staff who were all great and friendly. We had a wonderful time! Thank you!
Absolutely 💯 an AMAZING experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They pretty much guarantee seeing whales because they communicate with other ships about whale sightings locations. We saw Revine, a female Humpback 🐋 whale, and her 2023 cub. They were so adorable. It's an incredible experience! We also saw a seal and a group of dolphins. This cruise lasted around 4 hours. We went up the coast and found the whales off the coast of Maine. Cash only for food and beverages on board. The gift shop is nice, too. We purchased a couple of T-shirts there for $25 each.
Was very nice, it is definitely colder on the water so bring a hat and jacket, binoculars are also a great idea. Arrive early. The tour had a lot of people but both sides get chances to see the whales with the captain turning the boat. We saw 2 sets of whales and seals.

Whilst on holiday at my brothers house in Waltham, he and his wife took me to 7 seas whale watch. We got there early and that’s my advice to others and got a seat at the front. The naturalist was explaining all about the harbour and points of interest as we left and told us that we should see at least a couple of whales and maybe some dolphins if we were lucky. She explained the they see dolphins about 10% of the time. It only seemed about half an hour before we sighted a pod of dolphins and I felt very lucky. We stayed for about 20 minutes with that pod but had to set out again as our aim was to see whales, obviously. Well weren’t we in for a treat. We came upon, what the naturalist told us was a rare sight. About 300 dolphins, if not more and they were with two fully grown humpback whales, one of which had a calf with her. The whales were called Venom, 3.142 and another I forget but was maybe tribar. Quite literally it was was magical, fabulous and all the other descriptions rolled into one. After maybe three quarters of an hour a forth whale arrived and this seemed to split the fun up and all made their way off and we travelled back to port. This was definitely a bucket list event but had not been on my list so I’m so pleased I did it. Lastly just to cover, the boat was clean and looked well maintained, it didn’t give me or anyone I saw any feeling of seasickness, I never felt anything other than completely safe, the crew were great, very informative and polite. I bought some snacks, served by a lovely young lady, who had just started watching F1 and noticed my Aston Martin t-shirt…..keep watching girl😁. Overall a tremendous experience and I would recommend it to anyone

Small art museum on the North Shore. I came to see the Hopper exhibit before it leaves and it was very nice. The permanent exhibits include paintings on the first floor and historical artifacts on the second. Small gift shop. No food is sold here. Small parking lot across the street.

We've been here several times, and it is a great place to hike. It has smooth flat trails as well 'in the back and beyond ' trails. You can do a mile or 5. It's wooded, quiet and shady without the twenty minute drive to the trail head.

My time with 7 Seas Whale Watch was fantastic. Even though I had to change my original date, they easily rescheduled me for the next day. Since I was alone, it might have been simpler for them to adjust the plans.

Remember, it takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes to travel from downtown Boston using public transit.

The guides were awesome! The main speaker, a lady, spoke loudly, clearly, and was very understanding. The captain was also incredible. We were lucky to witness two mother whales with their calves. On our trip back, we even saw dolphins. Every day is unique, but this was our experience! It was really cool.
First time wife and I did a whale tour and absolutely loved it, ship left right on time and everything was great. The commentator did a great job and was very informative. Ship was not over crowded at all very accommodating. Highly recommend! We did the early morning tour and by the looks of the afternoon tour the early morning is the one to do!
We weren't there long. Went to see the Emily Sargent paintings specifically. They were lovely. Looks like an interesting place, but smells very musty inside.

Cute park for the family! You can walk by the beach shore and there are plenty of benches to enjoy the view. There is a small shore where children can swim and look for seashells. There are a bunch of small trails to walk. And there is a large playground. Definitely recommend visiting but bring your bug spray! And a light jacket since even on a warm day there is a sea breeze.

Scammed and abandoned, after charging 3 dollars for a warm beer, refused to give me my change till the way back, then abandoned me on the opposite side of the harbor. Apperantly this happens frequently... Keep driving through Gloucester and go to Rockport.

We had a wonderful morning with Cape Ann Whale Watch. We saw several pairs of mothers and calves! We had a great view and there wasn't a dull moment. The captain made sure to balance the sides of the boat that could see whale activity. The facilities on board were good (just make sure to bring cash if you want to buy food/drink) and all the members on board were great! Highly recommended.

Had an amazing whale 🐳 watch tour out at 8:30am! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable & on point!! Had so much fun with the family and it was a beautiful day out on the water! We seen soo many different types of whales 🐳 & even seen bottled nosed dolphins 🐬 ‼️definitely the highlight of my day!! Thanks again 😃 🙏
Do it!!! This was an amazing tour of the ocean! We saw three humpback whales on our tour, and two breached time and time again. It was so amazing! We also saw a school of dolphins and quite a few seals. You can purchase food and drinks on the boat, just keep in mind that you will need cash while onboard. Our tour was about three hours long and they do guarantee sightings. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. There were also restrooms onboard with flushing toilets.
I am undecided if this was #1 in my whale 🐳 watching experiences! The tour I took in Kennebunkport was just as good at seeing whales but I got to see 🙈 so much more!
The captain on this tour took the boat 🚢 out 28 miles to find a pod of whales that were active. Every passenger was enjoying seeing the humpback and minke whales that were feasting on fish 🐟. When one went under, another would breach the surface. Names such as Etcha-Sketch and Dot Dash were given to the whales. There was a mother humpback with her calf.
There are multiple exhibits on the boat and at the main building. It was interesting to see bones and teeth.
Service was very good! The food they offer is just the basics, snacks, soda, beer, 🥪 sandwiches, ect. There is a $10 minimum on the use of credit/debit cards. I just had a turkey and cheese 🧀 with a coffee. I believe they offer over the counter medicine such as Dramamine.
There is a parking 🅿️ lot in front of the business and it is very affordable. I recommend you arrive early for a parking spot.
I highly recommend this whale watching company!

This was the highlight of our vacation!! Saw 9-10 whales while out on the water! One even jumped out of the water which doesn't happen often.

The tour guide was great and she kept us entertained throughout the trip. You could sense her genuine love of the water and animals. This is an experience you don't want to miss! They went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable time.
My family had a great time on our Whale watch on August 1st, the 1:30 sailing. We got to see 3 whales and their calves! The narrator was very informative, and let us know which whale was which, and I learned a lot about whales! I would highly recommend it!

This was a great experience, awesome value for money. The boat is great, lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. Great picnic-like tables for spending time while on the way to the spotting areas.
The tour guide was incredible, she made great commentary while helping us spot the whales.

The entire trip felt very well organized and safe. The boat was not too packed.

From the other reviews and our experience it seems like stalking a calf and a mother is something that happens regularly - I hope that it's not disturbing them too much :(

We were here to see the Edward Hopper exhibit that's running from July to October as a celebration of Edward Hopper' works inspired by the houses and the towm of Gloucester itself. Excellent display and the rest of the museum is also a great place to visit if you're in the area. You can possibly spend 2-3 hours if you want depending on your space. There are also some cool sculptures in the courtyard. There's limited parking in a lot across the street. A gift shop is located inside the museum that sells magnets, books, postcards and other things. CAM is located in what's basically Downtown Gloucester if you're interested in exploring restaurants, shops and cafes.

Its a gem that really surprised me. Plenty of free parking, a small hidden beach and stunning view, my God! Kids can just play in the ground, while you can just watch them sitting under the tree shade. The beaches are really cute but literally family sized!

STUNNING VIEWS! wow, seriously breathtaking. I live in Texas, and I have never seen anything like this site. I know that these kinds of sites are all along the coast, but this one was private and just so cool. I definitely recommend it. We walked from downtown through strawberry cove to get there. It was a beautiful stroll. Teens definitely come out here to party so there's a bit of graffiti and trash but it does not take away from the beauty of the site!

Run by the Trustee of Reservations, this is a fantastic spot to wander around and get away from the grind. There are lots of interesting trails (such as the Magnolia Swamp Trail and the Boulder Field Trail) that are as beautiful as they are peaceful.
Best seen by boat as you pass out of the harbor.

The best museum on the north shore by far. The cape Ann museum has everything you need to know about cape Ann.
The people that run and work at the museum are spectacular. The architecture of the ships and the building itself is impeccable. The archive area is amazing they have everything from trains to fishing to even reports on the cape itself. Just a all around amazing place to go to. Would recommend

A nice place to visit in Gloucester. Picnic areas for adults & kids to relax & enjoy. Too bad they require in order to park, 'advanced reservations'. This has to be a great disappointment to travelers who are drawn to the beauty of the ancient & famous ocean town & large rolling hills of the park. Can't something be done to make it more equatable for folks coming here by mere chance? That's often what happens as folks drive up the coast.
Very cool museum.
We took the water shuttle around. Captain Steve was hilarious!!!! Bonus there was booze on board always a plus. He was not only funny but very knowledgeable of the area. Thatcher who was Steve’s first mate , was a polite young man. What a great job both of them. We had an incredible time. Thank you so much for an awesome experience

Beautiful location overlooking the ocean, it's a short walk from the parking area to the cliffs. The only draw back is limited parking so Definitely get there early to beat the hustle and bustle of the other visitors. It is safe for kids if you work with them to climb the rocks, our kids had a great time checking out the views and the waves crashing against the rocks. Was a very nice experience for our family and I'm sure it'll be the same for yours, Definitely enjoy!

There is room for just two cars to park at the end of New Way Lane. Other than that there is no parking. Since parking is so scarce, you'll have these woods all to yourself. The Trustees' website for this park says there is no parking at all, but that's baloney. The access from New Way Lane goes through watershed land owned by the City of Gloucester, but it's not posted at all; therefore it is legitimate access.

Years ago there used to be an entrance directly on Route 128. There still is a trailhead that goes out to the highway, but the old parking lot there is now blocked off by guardrails.

The terrain is shaped by glaciers, with a bunch of small hills with boulders everywhere. Most trails are quite small and can be hard to follow. AllTrails has a good map of this place, and the park borders a larger expanse of woods I have yet to explore. Mountain biking looks quite challenging. The summit's view is mostly obscured, but it's still nice up there.
Don't be mistaken by the Google address as this will take you to a Private property.

The entry to this park is through 140 Hesperus Ave and you can see a small parking available here.

A small walk through the trees and then you can see the magnificent rocks along the water. People do come and fish here too but it's a beauty with boats sailing by. It's a nice place to stop by if you are around the area!

The crews knowledge of the àrea and boats was spectacular. The tours around Cape Ann is something everyone should do. The crew answered all questions asked and the boat was very comfortable
Great history lesson and thorough narration,
Fun shuttle ride. Can't beat it on a hot summer day. Nice way to cool off and see Gloucester from a different perspective.
Amazing harbor tour!! Learned and saw so much, and were able to fulfill the final wishes of a late family member. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart ❤
My cousin and I just got off the King Eider from the Lighthouse Tour. It was gorgeous!!! From the water we saw places we had been earlier. Like we were on Good Harbor Beach and sat at the Fisherman's Memorial. It was so neat to see these from a different view. Capt Pete and 1st Mate Fisher were great sources of knowledge.
One thing I wish had taken was a sweatshirt. It was unexpectedly chilly once we were out on the water.
They sell water, beer, wine and snacks on the boat. They could make some extra money if they sold souvenir sweatshirts. I'd have bought one!
Thank you for a wonderful memory.

A super great place for a leisurely hour walk. The parking lot holds two cars... but you can park on both sides of the street. Based on the weather and day of the week you might be the only ones on the trail.
Scenic fun. Lots of frogs in the swamp. TONS of wild blueberries and raspberries along the trails - will be a great spot to pick berries when they’re ripe.

Beautiful Trustees property with miles and miles of trails, some carriage-path broad and flat and some more challenging, plus interesting topography and environments. No horses (I love them but my dog loves them TOO much). Small parking lot at the south side, some street parking available. Generally less crowded than the trails at other forests nearby, like Willowdale or Rowley.
We did the Red Maple Swamp Trail, 2.1 miles. Nice wooded walk, but expect roots and rocks along the way. A wooden walkway over the swamp was a great spot to hear many different bird and frog sounds. Not crowded at all, a nice peaceful walk.
Beautiful scenery, trails not marked as nicely as I hoped. Got turned around a few times but made the most of it.

Wonderful. informative tour! Inspirational !
Beautiful spot to walk in the footsteps of Winslow Homer
Great lighthouse tour of Cape Anne which was stunningly beautiful and historically informative. My kids loved it, cruising along the shoreline and learning more about this exceptional place.
Nice way to spend an afternoon on Cape Ann. The Captain and mate were very knowledgeable and friendly. My only criticism is that if the boat is crowded, the people seated on the starboard side do not have a good view of the shoreline, which is the vast majority of the interesting sites. Thatcher Island is there only point of interest on the right until the last bit of the tour. We had a great time!
Listed as the largest Greenbelt property I have only hiked the "Sunset Mountain Gateway" corner. If you're brave you can park on 133 near the interchange but I recommend the Mnt. Jacob Cemetery lot. The short but steep climb to Sunset Mountain offers immediate reward with tremendous panoramic vista. Dog friendly.
1782 Federalist Era home, Judith Sargent Murray (an early American writer) and her husband John Murray (founder of the first Universalist Church in the USA) lived here. They were acquainted with the Washington's and the Adams, and the home is filled with beautiful historic artifacts. Includes a collection of original John Singer Sargent pieces. Worth visiting!
