a bit interesting, and well kept, but still seemed very expensive for what was there. i highly doubt i’d ever pay $5 to look at a few rooms again.
i was told that items from the Mesa Southwest Museum has been moved there- the entire Western room there has been removed and replaced with a horse skeleton instead (lame)- but this museum only has the carriage and the locked safe.
i was hoping to see the movie items and other artifacts, etc. they did have a rebuilt one room school house like the MSM had back in the day.
the best part was reading about the Buckhorn Baths Motel. you may like it more than i did if you love cats.. 😹

Great place to fish, walk, play basketball or have a family bbq. The playground equipment seems in need of an upgrade or modernization, luckily there is still lots of things to occupy the children when they grow tired of the play equipment

Nice park. The fishing lake/pond is decently nice and peaceful. There's a raccoon named Franklin. They don't mess around for closing time, 10pm all the lights turn off and the sprinklers go on. With the time of closing changed during the summer.

Wow! What a cool facility. There is so much to see and do that it will take more than one visit to truly enjoy. The scenery and wildlife are stunning, and the staff and fellow patrons were wonderful. Highly recommend you visit. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful park with lots of picnic shelters, paved walkways, fishing, wildlife and a huge soccer field.

This is such a great place to visit and see wonderful things. Really nice gift store also.

Beautiful park, nice walking paved path, bathrooms, wild life. That's a coatimundi in the tree playing.

An absolutely beautiful and FREE art musuem. Nestled below the Mesa Arts Center, is the Mesa Comtemporary Arts Museum. They frequently feature local artists and always have moving exhibits.
Currently they are featuring artists locally called Mother Nature.
Definitely reccomend visiting here when you're in the area and taking some time to appreciate the collection and the local artists we have.
Because the art museum is downstairs, they do have an elevator for anyone who needs to use it.
Beautiful space all around and a gift shop right across to support the museum

This place is so very cool. So much to look at and read about. Give yourself and your family about 2/12 hours minimum. We originally went for the Dinosaur exhibit, like most do, but their was so much more that kept our interests going. And make sure to pan for gold. The kids had a blast. They have little bags so each kid has his or her own piece of the treasure.
A really great place to spend a Saturday. Check it out, you'll like it.

What a fun place! We easily spent 2 hours here. Both kids and adults enjoyed the sensory room. Thunder storms were fun to experience at all levels.

This is a nice museum with history of Mesa and important families and events in the area. It is small so it does not take long to go through.

Really enjoyed this local museum and The 3 or 4 aren't exhibited to. You at all the material were all nicely set up and not very crowded. I love the fact that you can see great art for free thanks to the city of mesa.

We had a great time at this museum! My two daughters (6 and 3) loved the dinosaurs and the quiet room near the dinosaur exhibit. It's 3 stories tall and has a lot more to look at than my kids had energy for so we will definitely return again. There are exhibits honoring the Native Americans who lived in the Mesa area as well as around the world, gold panning in the courtyard, an old Mesa jail, history about Lost Dutchman mine, and more. When we were there, there was a paleontologist working on a fossil in the lobby and was telling patrons about it. Let the dinosaur prints on the outside of the building guide you in! 🦕🦖

Super fun park. There are 2 play parks for kids, one for older kids and one for younger. There are volleyball courts, pickleball/tennis courts, and basketball courts. Nice sidewalks for walking, big grassy hills, a pond with ducks! It's a really great place to take your kid / sibling, hang out with friends, or just go on a walk to enjoy nature. Everyone is really respectful here!
When I came here with a younger 'sibling', we got to watch remote control cars!
Another time, I went here to play volleyball and met a horserider! Super pretty horse and friendly rider 😳

Went earlier, wasn’t packed at all for us. Took the kids 8 and 11. They loved it! We had a great time! Spent about an hour panning for gold! Lol we filled up a vile from the gift shop. We also bought Dinopoly and a stuffed dino for great prices, they weren’t crazy expensive like most gift shops. Loved the live Gila Monster and before walking in we had our photo taken by the director of the of museum 🙂 very friendly guy! Definitely will be coming back and would recommend to other families!

Very nice! Awesome art work on display! Loved it! And it is free to view!

From the outside of the building one would think it's a small museum. Wait until you go inside! It's 3 levels. There is a wheelchair accessible ramp and doorway. The building does have stairs AND an elevator for families with strollers or those needing assistance to the upper/lower levels. Restrooms are on each level as well. There are several rooms per level so allow yourself at least an hour or two. There are a few hands-on activities for kids to explore and "games" along the way for little ones to enjoy as their parents look at and read the exhibits. A must if you are in the Mesa area!

The Mesa Historical Museum was very interesting to walk through! It's one level, but has several rooms of artifacts to look at and articles to read. Learning about how baseball spring training came to be here in Arizona was very fascinating! One could take an hour or so to fully enjoy this museum. Another must see in Mesa!

Had an amazing time. I was passing through on business and I make it a point to stop by every science museum and natural history museum when I travel. I visited on a Friday. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The exhibits are fascinating. Worth a visit. A pleasant surprise.

A wonderful museum. We went in on a Saturday and was fortunate because it was open house( normally $13.50 + tax ) and it was free to go in. On top of that they were giving away a free bike helmet cover in the shape of prehistoric animals. We scored one for our granddaughter. Fun for the whole family!

I went with my two boys, aged 5 and 6 years old, for the second time. They had a blast! There were plenty of different things to see. The "museum" part might be a bit more boring for kids their age, but the highlight for both of them was seeing dinosaurs and looking for gold. I do wish they had a cafeteria or someplace for snacks.
*We went on a free day, that was probably the reason why it was busier than usual.

Nice place! Great event for District 1!

Beautiful park. Plenty of tables and benches. You can fish if you have a license, water is shallow but clear to see the bottom. Lots of bunnies and wildlife. Love the views and the wildlife that roams here! Great place to spend some free time at

This the place to be. Unfortunately I heard also they had a chance to bring in Shpard Fairey, OBEY, but turned him down....... insane. He even was going to paint a mural outside which would of brought people for years to come

Very cute museum. When you come inside, make sure you check in by the front desk to purchase tickets. The exhibits are separated by rooms. There's one with Indian artifacts, one with baseball memorabilia, one with domestic artifacts from the 1900s, and another was an art gallery dedicated to cats. I love how the layout was well designed with authentic touches- such as how the historic stove had food on it, and the baseball area had an old turnstile and fenced in area with more memorabilia behind. Outside, there's a replica of a schoolhouse.
The people working there really made me feel welcome.

This was a small museum. The work shown was very interesting and it was well curated. We enjoyed the group show a lot and were intrigued and impressed by the works. We’d go back again to see what else they display.

First visit to this museum and I am very impressed. Although the gallery areas are on the smaller side the floor-plan allows for leisurely wandering while appreciating the exhibits. These change periodically, as one would expect, so be sure to check the website before you visit for the most current information (or don't if you like a surprise).
The docent working up front was very kind and was thrilled to tell me about the building's architecture and what went into the overall design.
Parking is free and there is a large lot nearby!

A very small but enjoyable, modern art museum. There are four large rooms on one story only so it is not the largest museum, but the cost of entry is free and parking is easy and plentiful so it makes visiting quite easy. Mesa is not the prettiest part of Arizona but it’s not that far from some of the other larger cities like Scottsdale or Phoenix. I wish they had a more diverse selection of artists and more information on the artists themselves but overall it was an enjoyable visit, albeit a quick one due to the size.

Free admission! Relatively small compared to other art museums. This gives ample time to enjoy the pieces that are currently displayed. Love that all the art has contemporary style and some of them represent archaic themes. Cool, fun and inspiring to see the creative expressions. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area and have 30 minutes to an hour of time to spare.

This is a wonderful display of Mesa's history! It was nice to tie in a museum visit at the end of a work day, so it being small was actually a plus to me. It was easier to sell a quick trip to my teenager as well. The staff was very kind and willing to answer any questions, I can't wait to frame my souvenir!

It's tough to get excited about this museum when I had just visited the Tempe Historical museum--which is free and has much better displays. This is a former school building with displays in 3 rooms. The rest of the building is not really being used well as museum space. There is an outside exhibit or two, but not much to look at for $5. I saw everything in about 30 minutes. Try the Tempe Museum instead--much better...and FREE!
