I did the self guided tour and it’s not worth £13-£14 at all. Really steep for just learning about prisoners’ lives without correlating it to the troubles that N.Ireland has in the past few decades.
We were not sure about spending several hours of our holiday in jail, but this was a very interesting and worthwhile attraction. Particularly interesting was the detailed explanation of "the troubles" that occupied the news for many years when I was young.
This was a really interesting visit with lots of interactive displays. I would definitely recommend a visit here. The cafe (which is inside the gift shop) is also very reasonably priced.
Fantastic experience, highly recommend people experience this first hand. Tour can easily be 2 to 3 hours access to the car park is off Crumlin road road, going onto cliftonpark ave, taking the available right for the distillery that's rear of the prison.

Well, what a place! A beautiful castle (aka Cat Castle) surrounded by fabulous countryside. We visited yesterday and enjoyed strolling around the carefully tended gardens bathed in sunshine. Apparently there are 9 cats in different mediums, from topiary to mosaics. I only spotted 3.
There's not much to see in the castle but the views from the magnificent windows are fabulous.
We lunched in the Cellar Restaurant which was very pleasant. The service was leisurely but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter. The staff were delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them.
All in all, a purrrfect day out 🐱

Belfast Castle, perched on Cave Hill with stunning panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscapes, is a remarkable historical gem. Its Gothic Revival architecture and charming gardens create a picturesque setting that's perfect for leisurely strolls and photography. The castle's rich history, from its origins in the 12th century to its 19th-century rebuild, is fascinating, with informative exhibits and friendly staff enhancing the experience. The on-site restaurant and gift shop offer delightful refreshments and unique souvenirs. Whether you're a history enthusiast, nature lover, or just seeking tranquility, Belfast Castle is a must-visit destination in Northern Ireland.
A really interesting experience, and I do mean experience. There are a lot of cool exhibits (including holograms!) and many videos that portray what life would've been like for inmates. There are also sections on escapes with interviews of some escapees!

The rich history of Crumlin Road Gaol is delved into during this experience, it's definitely worth a look if you're in Belfast.

A nice castle( called a cat castle) with a small garden witch has a beautiful view of the city, sea and surroundings. From the castle you can go higher and enjoy a longer walk. The castle organize weddings and various receptions.
Well worth the visit. It's not massive and we were there probably an hour and half. Very informative with great information all the way around. Was worth the money.

Beautiful castle and grounds. Did not go in as there was some private event. Lush well planted garden featuring hidden feline art and a fabulous view.

We took a cab for 15ish minutes drive from the city centre.
It was easy to access the castle. There's a coffee shop in the basement with scones and other snacks. Everything there looks great.
We enjoyed the view and the park around the castle. Feel free to explore and search for the cats.
You can visit inside for free. Although the castle and its garden are small, it is a very beautiful place where you can spend hours. There is lots of cat statues in the garden. It also has a sea view. I think you can have an event inside.

Nice castle with good coffee shop. Castle is now in main a wedding and conference venue. Was grateful Belfast City allowed us to look round and get a feel for the place and its history. Great views from top floor. Grounds offer numerous wooded walks....be prepared for hills. Picture is about finding of wedding ring belonging to WW2 American bomber aircraft who crashed near the castle.....lots of history in surrounding are.
A very refined place. The Wolff Grill is high quality fine dining, the bar set in the beautiful surroundings of the old Drawing Office serves great cocktails, all the staff are professional and helpful and the rooms are luxurious and nicely decorated. But the thing that really sets this hotel apart is the history. The old Harland and Wolff office building was restored and turned into this hotel and many of the rooms have been preserved as they were 100 years ago, like the offices of the top management and the telegraph room that the Titanic sent the SOS to, which are open to guests. This history makes staying here a unique experience.
The room was lovely and the hotel was fantastic. Just a shame we had no power/lights in our room all night and into the next day before we checked out.
Maintenance did supply us with a plug in standard lamp but no further input from Management thereafter, which was a little disappointing.

Beautiful place! Especially in the autumn. They have a lovely restaurant and one of the best fries you can get all day long. 10/10 Recommend.

A stunning location to see Belfast from, it’s totally free to visit and the gardens look amazing.
You can walk around the castle with some stunning views on the walk.

The staff are lovely and welcoming. A really nice place to visit.
I have stayed at the Titanic once before and the stay was amazing. This is the reason I downgraded my review to 4 stars from 5 stars last time after my latest visit: We arrived at the hotel at 3:15pm and the check in is from 3pm. We were really tired after a busy day and we had an early evening event to attend. We really wanted to have a rest before we went out. Unfortunately, our room was not ready. After the receptionist checked with housekeeping, they confirmed that they had not even started to clean it. I know from experience that this takes around 45 minutes. I asked if we could be given another room. The only other room available was an upgrade. We were charged for the new room even though we were very happy with the deluxe room we had booked. I feel this was very unfair as it was the hotels fault that our room was not ready. For the sake of £30, I think the hotel should have waived the upgrade cost as we didn't even want it. We were so tired that we paid it.

Really beautiful castle. Nice view and the walk up was very pretty. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed in when we went there was a private event. But it’s worth checking out if your in Belfast!
This is a beautifuly preserved castle. It is more of a house than a castle, no defensive features, but it is gorgeous. The gardens are amazing. I spend an hour looking for all the cats hidden in the features. The parkland around it is a great place to walk and hike with friends or family or just go for a nature walk. The views of Belfast are amazing.

We stopped here for 1 night as we were visiting the Titanic Experience. The overall service here was great.

We arrived an hour early, and although our room wasn't yet ready (as expected), we asked if we could drop off our bags, which they were happy to assist us with. We returned around 2 or 3 hours later and our bags had been delivered to our room, which was nice!

The room was a little disappointing as we'd booked the executive room, which was described as having a bath. However, we were given the accessible room despite not needing that, so there wasn't a bath, unfortunately. The bed was also 2 single beds, so there was a gap between the mattresses, which wasn't ideal for a married couple. In saying that, the beds were extremely comfortable and so welcome after only 4 hours of sleep on a travel day!!

The overall design of the hotel was breathtaking, and the amount of care and attention taken to the restoration was clear. There was so much history to take in, and many of the rooms told the story of Harland and Wolff, Thomas Andrew's, and the ships built here.
This is such a brilliant hotel. The service was top notch, the rooms well appointed, and the location is right near everything Titanic. We also ate there three times. Breakfast was vast and delicious, afternoon tea was such a treat and delight, and dinner was very good in the bar! Overall couldn’t recommend this place more highly.
I've only ever been in the main bar here but believe me when I say it's very grand and a beautiful place to enjoy a drink! The staff are incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. The hotel is opposite the Titanic museum and has many nods to the famous doomed ship and all those involved with it's building and running before tragedy hit. I definitely plan on returning for a night or two!
Very good exhibits. My only negative is that, although it is advertised as wheelchair accessible, it isn't fully. The doorways to the cells are too narrow to get a standard width wheelchair through. This means the wheelchair user can not experience any of the exhibits inside the cells. It needs more information in the area outside the cells so that wheelchair users can see and experience the same as able-bodied people.
This was an informative tour and very interesting. It gave you a great insight at what prison life was like in Belfast from well over 100+ years ago until fairly recently. There are interactive displays and various media presentations. The tour is in one direction, you enter one side and come out the other, so be prepared to walk the whole tour.
We pre-booked the guided tour and arrived around 15 mins early. Our tour guide, Harry, was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and presented us with information in a really easy to digest way. He was also really friendly, I would definitely recommend him.

The tour itself was good, however I do feel that the group size was a little large which meant the rooms ended up feeling crowded and it was sometimes a little difficult to see things (especially when you're not that tall!)

We also visited the onsite restaurant, and the food was very tasty, safe to say it is much better than what the prisoners would have had!

I would recommend visiting, it doesn't take too long to squeeze into a busy day but you can also pace yourself if you do have time!
A good place to spend a couple of hours with some very sobering details of prison life, good informative projections and cells that will make you never want to fall on the wrong side of the Law! I guess the only improvements that could be made are to the poor signage, particularly after the execution area and when leaving the prison to the cemetery. Also, it would have been nice to have maybe one or two members of staff to be on hand but we literally didn’t see a single soul… I guess this added to the creepiness!
The hotel is across a s the street from the museum and a short walk to local pubs and restaurants. Although there are several restaurants in the hotel and nice bar. Food is good, service is great. Just remember if you are from the States wait staff doesn't hover like we are use to. I found it refreshing. The room has air conditioning! We're stayed in August during the heat wave. It was a pleasure to have a cool room. We will travel back to Belfast and possibly stay here again.
Really recommend booking the tour if your visiting. Our tour guide was really enthusiastic and knew his stuff and was passionate during the tour, it took around an hour to get through and we found it really engaging and learnt some interesting stories. Its a very historic place with many interesting elements. Definitely something to do when visiting Belfast
Nice plan for a rainy day. I decided last minute to book tickets online since it was raining all day and not much to do outside. The booking process is very simple, the ticket for self-guided tour cost £15,50 and I could book the time slot on the same day. There was no waiting time when I arrived, I received a map and followed arrows around the area. What I liked about the Crumlin Road Gaol was how interactive and interesting was the presentation of the prison, instead of reading everything, you could listen to recordings and even observe the holograms of "prison characters" who told you more about the prison. The place looked very authentic, took about 60-70 minutes to walk through, and even included testimonies from former prisoners. It was a nice way of learning more about the history of the country and Belfast itself.

This is a beautiful place set on a elevated site with breath taking views over Belfast.
Camera, Comfortable shoes and water bottle would be highly recommend.
There is a restaurant booking may be required.
Plenty of parking and picnic areas are all around.
Kickback and enjoy... ☘️
Just fantastic is all you can say.

Great location with a wonderful restoration of the original buildings, which gave birth to the design of the Titanic.

The staff are absolutely wonderful in every aspect, and it has been a real pleasure to meet all I encountered. well done to everyone who works there, you all seem to enjoy working in the hotel.

The food was very well presented and tasted great, and the different areas to eat or drink in gave you a good feeling of being relaxed, whatever your background.
The room was very clean as it is throughout the entire hotel and very reto presented feeling as it might been in the day.

Great decor all around with reminders everywhere of many historical events that took place in that time in history

An absolute must visit if you are a Titanic fan!

Loved every single minute of being there.
One of the most photogenic places in Belfast, NI. It's open to all, no tickets, it's up the hill, a good long uphill walk from the public bust stop but worth Visiting. One will forget all the efforts to climb up with mesmerizing views and beautiful courtyard. Colorful flowers and well maintained courtyard. The castle building dies not have anything inside to view but the building from outside and views of castle are worth spending time. Must visit if you are in belfast.
Very cool and unique museum. Can be a little disappointed as it’s really small, if you not into history of it told in multiple languages you will go thru in 15 minutes. Should be made bigger - finally there was max 900 people in there! All escape history can be told in details- remaining wings and floors should be opened- without reconstruction - just be it - make it safe and available.

Looks that someone have lost their mind over expansion of it.
Very informative, and information isn't biased. Can be slightly boring as most of your time is spent watching long videos in various rooms without seats. It is not appropriate or entertaining for children. Gives a great feel for the jail and conditions inside, and the staff are all super friendly and helpful. A lot of the experience is spent waiting for the gates to open to the next part of the jail, which was quite frustrating, especially since there were no seats in the waiting areas. It can be very busy and rooms can be crowded so make sure you know how busy it will be when you go.
