Very nicely appointed room which did get warm with our event’s packed house. There were 2 doors to a very accessible patio which led into the hilly lawn and tree where there is a bench.
We asked the wedding staff if any of their dishes had nuts. They checked with the chef and said only the salad did and made plans to give my 6 year old something else. Their flatbread had cashews, which the chef told me later when my daughter started having an allergic reaction. I gave her an epipen and we took her to the emergency room, which is where we are now.
The chef did not know what he was serving and now we are at the e.r. My daughter will be fine but she was terrified. This venue is awful, and the chef incompetent. Do not get married here. Do not attend this venue as a guest.

Most critics regard the 1991 animated film as superior to the 2017 live-action remake. Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune stated that the 1991 film "worked wonderfully because it was pure Broadway, written for the screen, blending comedy and romance and magic and just enough snark in the margins", while the 2017 remake got lost in translation since "The movie takes our knowledge and our interest in the material for granted. It zips from one number to another, throwing a ton of frenetically edited eye candy at the screen, charmlessly." The real importance here is what Julia Morgan was able to achieve for women despite what the critics think about Beauty and the Beast.
The Berkeley City Club is such a jam, in the middle of downtown Berkeley. The place is gorgeous and so unique having been designed by Julia Morgan. It’s a charming location for weddings and events.
Went here for a beautiful wedding. I'm not sure which vendors were in-house and which were brought in by the lovely couple, but everything was excellent. Service and ceremony were top notch. The venue is gorgeous. It was a nice misty morning that opened up into a stunning sunny afternoon.
Got the opportunity to photograph a wedding at this venue and absolutely loved the experience. So many great spots for portraits!
Nice place for a wedding, beautiful view, beautiful landscapes. However, the food is not so great! Ordered a medium rare steak and it was 110% over cooked.
Very quaint and historical hotel. You must want to get away from the everyday hotel when staying here. No TVs instead five or six pianos, tapestries, antiques, and an atrium.
Service is very helpful and beyond friendly. They answer all questions and help in every way imaginable.
Location is very close to UC Berkeley which was conviniebt for me.
The restaurant, Julia's, is absolutely stunning. The food is to die for and the staff is wonderful.

Wonderful experience here. One of the last few intelligence communities wrapped up in a gorgeously preserved old castle. Highly recommended
If you're looking to stay in an upscale spot near the Berkeley campus, this is a choice pick. It's an absolutely gorgeous location replete with fine furniture, stunning architecture, and many small details that make you feel like you've stepped back in time while not losing any comfort.
Honestly a true disappointment.
The manager on shift was an absolute nightmare and the hotel knows it and does nothing to fix the issue.
My sister coordinated thousands of dollars worth of wedding stay/photos/family time in this hotel and the manager treated us like thieves saying we had no reservations and took time out of our busy actual wedding day schedule to have us validate.
We allowed it to fly to not upset them, loosing precious preplanned hours for wedding activities. However, when we reached out to management later on the did absolutely nothing to mitigate our terrible experience. We reached out 4 times within two months and they left us in the dark.
The hotel might look nice, but the people running it overall are absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful. The saddest part is it’s still happening and we were left in the dark with an absolutely disgusting after-taste reminiscing from our experience at this hotel.

Nice place. Staff is great. One issue I have is staff has no diversity no people of color. Well one working in the kitchen you wouldn't know she existed. It needs to be more diversity more people of color in management and employees also. Other than that nice place but needs diversity in the work force.
As DJ Rockalot I performed a wedding here and found the overall experience great with the beautiful outdoor ceremony space and great looking Brazilian Room all with its own parking lot!
I love working at this beautiful place. The views and the reception room come together to make this the top destination for weddings. Last night we provided the dj service and uplighting. I can't wait to come back
Absolutely a beautiful space. I only stayed one night but what an amazing visit. The staff is super friendly. Room 405 has a fabulous view. Watching the clouds above the Bay floating is lovely. The room is very cute and clean. If you want an unique experience I highly recommend Berkeley City Club.
A gorgeous place! Being outside and inside created a nice ambience as the sun started to set and the ceremony with meals made people seated. The facility is spacious and clean and quite pretty - and there’s a decent amount of parking here too! Lovely hidden venue to host a nice event of different sorts
