Their fried rice was the best!!
Everything was reasonably priced and big portions so I recommend sharing 🥟🍻
The vibes are a bit busy but still down to visit again<33
My first impression of the place was the curt and, frankly, grumpy older staff member who took us to our table. Otherwise the food was fine and served rapidly but the tables where we sat were too close together. Just as well we don't consider COVID a thing anymore.

Good service, great food. Very busy restaurant. Pan fried pork dumplings, sate chicken, veggie fried rice, salt & pepper squid, honey chicken, slow cooked pork belly Taiwanese. All food came out quickly and tasted great.
Great restaurant if you want real, fresh Chinese food. The service is very fast but not very welcoming. Some waiters barely speak English. The overall experience is not very "elegant" BUT if don't care about esthetic and you want good food at the right price, this is the place to go. The steamed and pan fried dumplings are to die for!

Right in the heart of Canberra CBD. It may get busy during holidays; hence, not too fast service.

The place has a nice atmosphere, though.

The food is very good. Good dumplings experience - both fried and boiled.
The hotpot tasted nice as well with the rice. It was beef with brown sauce.

Rushed in after waited for half an hour, got told by the usher to finish within an hour.

Ordered fried pork dumplings. 🥟 showed up, not handmade, the small-around size indicating they are mass-produced frozen dumplings boiled first then pan fried.

No black vinegar on table, only red vinegar available.

Also ordered chicken-veggie stir-fry and a beef dish. Both average 6/10.

Maybe it’s the lack of local competition, otherwise I don’t understand why the place is so busy.

Akiba has swiftly become a favorite on my list of must-visit restaurants. Their diverse menu caters to various dietary needs, ensuring everyone finds something to enjoy. The wait staff are both friendly and welcoming, adding to the charm of the beautifully designed restaurant. Each dish we ordered was a culinary delight, leaving everyone at our table eager to return on our next visit to Canberra. Akiba truly impressed me with its exceptional dining experience. A heartfelt thank you for a memorable dinner.

We went there for the first time. We tried the duck pancake, Shanghai dumplings, combination pan fried and beef boiled dumplings. All were nice and delicious. Beef was definitely the winner. Duck was okay, don’t have to have that one again. The Shanghai dumplings are juicy and freshly made. The service was friendly and fast. The restaurant itself is a bit packed.

I was In Canberra over the weekend and wanted to eat dinner at this popular dumpling house. I ordered pan fried special dumplings 3 colours at $17.8 as starter. It served in a small plate and the dumplings are overrated. It’s nothing special for me and I even didn’t order the main course anymore. Restaurant is quite busy and almost full house even around 5:30 pm. They have a lot of waitstaff too.

A must try .. brilliant Japanese fusion, all dishes were tasty, especially the tuna tartar and the teriaki beef, although there is no way it was Kobe beef.
Service wad brilliant and the warm sake awesome on a cold canberra night.
We will be back

Do yourself a favor and visit this cool restaurant in Canberra. The service is unmatched. We were looked after by Max, who truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we've had in a while. Highly recommend!

Came here for an anniversary dinner - the food was delicious and the staff very friendly and happy to provide suggestions.

Cocktails were tasty.

Standout was the kingfish sashimi as well as the eggplant. I think you can’t go too wrong.

Was a bit loud which made it challenging to chat and not particularly romantic, but we still had an excellent time.

Was busy on a Saturday night so recommend making a booking.

The barbeque was ok. There was no fan though. There was something looking like a fan in the middle but when we try to turn it, nothing happened. There is no garlic experience like the other places. Their hot spicy noodle soup was nice though.

The food here was divine. I especially liked the Kobe beef and the Japanese chicken share plates. Between five people we got through four share plates (two of them the Japanese chicken) and we left with contented bellies. Their extensive cocktail list was also impressive. Would come again

It’s our second time at Akiba and the food and service were as amazing as the first time. The food here is different from anything we have had before. We picked individual dishes the first time. This time we did the Luxe menu which gave us even more dishes to try. The staff vibe here is so good too. Staff are smiling and interacting with customers and other staff throughout the night. You will need to book. It’s very popular

Can’t believe I haven’t been here until now.
Got the lux feed me menu to spare choosing the dishes - the portions were adequate so it was good.
Apart from the papaya sald that we were not a massive fan of, everything was delicious - I especially enjoyed the kingfish, the beef tartare, the steak and the dessert.
Very friendly and prompt service.

Very nice dining experience. We ordered ox bone soup, kimchi fried rice, original fried chicken and crunchy octopus. Food was fresh and served fast. Quite impressed with their courteous service. Food taste great, we loved the side dish kimchi, so crunchy and refreshing. Surely will be back.

From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our table host was so lovely and attentive, we were impressed by the service from all the staff.
The food was amazing. We had the luxe menu, and while some of the dishes were hit and miss, it was due to our personal tastes- the quality of the food was excellent, and the sashimi and tartare was so fresh.

The only thing I would’ve loved to have seen, was a good non alcoholic menu or catering for non drinkers.
There were only two “mocktail” type drinks offered which I had to enquire about as they were not on the menu.

Good cuts of meat and well prepared seafood. Restaurant really cold. Visited mid winter. We were only patrons. Owner probably conserving overheads as waiter unable to turn on air-conditioning near us- which I can sympathise with in this current financial environment. Staff wearing jumpers and jackets, so most likely a norm if it's apart of their uniform.

Great smoke show…

But perhaps not everyone likes to dine in such a smoky environment like this, how can people enjoy their food while they can’t even breathe properly?

And I suppose those smoke detectors wouldn’t even work.

To be honest, I don’t even want spend a second in the restaurant.👎🏻

Came here with a group of friends a few days back and we absolutely enjoyed our time. The restaurant has amazing ambience and spacious design, and the food was really good!

Our waitress Priyanka was very nice and when we asked for recommendations, she recommended us the Loaded Fried Chicken, Ox Soup, and some cocktails! I tried them all and I must say that the fried chicken is definitely one of the best I've ever eaten, and the soup also feels really homey, perfect for the weather that is getting colder.

We will definitely be back! Thank you!

This was a fun experience. The beef was delicious and the spicy fried chicken was yum. The range of soju was good, I recommend the peach.

There are a few things that need improvement. The table was really sticky, the menu was really dirty and the bathroom was pretty gross. They don't even have sanitary bins. The light above the table doesn't work, would have been cool to see the restaurant all lit up. Near the front of the store is just a whole bunch of cleaning and junk being stored. Kinda unappealing to see that when you first walk in.

Apart from that, the service was good, the food came out in a timely manner and it was reasonable pricing. We got the 4 person banquet for 5 people, it was plenty of food.
