My husband and I ate dinner here for the first time this Saturday. I was able to take advantage of a special check-in on Yelp that gave you a free small soup for free. I ordered a classic crab roll and got a small lobster bisque soup. My husband ordered the Dueling Claws, which is a Jr Lobster and Jr crab roll. It was a little pricey, but the lobster and crab meat is worth it. We found a table outside and we waited about 10 minutes til the food came out. Both the lobster and crab roll were delicious! I really loved the lobster bisque soup also. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will for sure come back and try more food. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and great customer service as well.
Really solid lobster/crab/shrimp rolls. I got the crab roll and the clam chowder and was not disappointed. As someone from the north east, I vouch for this place!

Exactly what you’re looking for after a day at the beach. Hand made and stuffed sandwiches. Locally owned and the owner is very friendly and gives nice suggestions on what to do in the area.
OKAYYYY so I got the dueling one where you get the lobster roll and the crab roll and OMFGGGG it took everything inside me to not order MORE. So good. Also the lobster bisque was 10/10… highly recommend. My entire family got one of the two I had and soup and they all loved itttt!
This is my favorite place for a quick bite in La Jolla. I’ve been going there since I was born in 92 and my grandparents would spend the winter in La Jolla from Michigan. Coming back from Colorado just for this place this summer! I can’t wait! The BLT is amazing but so is all their food and the no bake cookies! See you soon!

Lobster West La Jolla exceeded our expectations in every aspect. The food was incredibly juicy and delicious. Despite the price being on the higher side, the quality more than justified it. The location in La Jolla is perfect, offering a scenic view while dining. The staff at the cashier were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I opted for the lobster hot dog, while my husband chose the shrimp hot dog. Both were fantastic choices! It's definitely a must-visit spot for seafood lovers looking for a memorable dining experience.
This place sells very good sandwich’s , service was amazing , we loved our sandwich’s and they also offered gluten free bread at no extra cost. If you are in la Jolla you should try this place! ✨
This was my first time ever having a lobster roll and it did not disappoint!! The food was so good, staff was the friendliest staff I encountered on my stay. Good music, fun atmosphere, amazing service, and unbelievable food! It was honestly the best food I have ever had
I love this place! The food is excellent and they are very thorough and reliable. I have used them for catering medium to large events on multiple occasions and they do a wonderful job. One time I had an issue with 3rd party deliver vendor (not Rubicon) and they made it right. They have earned a loyal customer with their excellent food and service!
In town from Iowa and had the most amazing lobster roll at Lobster West! Ordered a "boss" lobster roll, slaw, and an extra roll to catch all of the meat that fell out. Outstanding flavor and huge chunks of lobster! I ended up with almost a whole other sandwich. Donte was working the register and was extremely friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. I'd highly recommend trying this place out if you're in the area!
The food was fresh and presented well, however, I was genuinely impressed by the lack of flavor in the lamb bowl. Samosas tasted okay, but again needed a bit more flavor. Some more spices need to be incorporated before I come back.
Can’t believe it took me this long to find this restaurant. The portions were massive af and the sandwiches are really tasty. Big amounts of every topping and meat, can’t go wrong with anything you order. I ordered the Dapper Dipper (roast beef, swiss, tempura onion, horseradish, au jus) and he got the Rich Boy (chipotle chicken, avocado, monterey jack, lettuce, tomato, onion, garlic mayo). Both were really good but I think I liked the Dapper Dipper better. Would recommend everyone to check this place out.
I was bored and hungry while I waited for a friend having eye surgery. Decided to grab a sandwich at the nearby deli. WOW! I would eat here everyday if I lived up here. I had their dapper dip on Jalapeno bread. Might be the best sandwich I've ever had. And it came with a warm little cookie!
One of the best sandwiches in San Diego! Multiple choices of chicken/bacon/beef sandwiches with significantly different flavors. Blue cheese and garlic cheese bread is recommended. Half is enough to feed an adult.
Ordered the Sicilian chicken grilled cheese. It was delicious! The environment was so clean and not too crowded. The staff member who helped us out Mario was so kind and helpful! Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone who loves cheesy and delicious food and amazing customer service.

Came here on a whim and loved it! We came with a party of 6. Our food came out quickly and was delicious! Everyone loved what they ordered. We all really loved the tomato soup!
David was the best!! We walked in and he brought out the whole pot of split pea soup for us and started scooping out samples for us to try. Delicious, wow I need more split pea soup in my life. Then he brought out a delicious black bean soup for us to try that was also great. But the clincher for me was absolutely the oatmeal cookies. He gave me one to try and I was hooked. We walked out the door with two bowls of soup and a half dozen cookies. Beautiful spot. Highly recommend. I'll be back and I'll have to try their sandwiches next time.
Tried out this new to me place and was very pleased. A little on the expensive side for smallish burgers, but they are delicious. The sweet potato fries are also great.
What a great place this is! It's so good, we went here 2 days in a row to try other menu items. The food is cheesy, fresh and delicious. It ain't easy being cheesy? Not for the melt it's not. They nail it every time. Their Mac&cheese - fuego!
Parking is iffy but I ran in for carry out.
Build your own option was great and it was perfect. The cookie was a nice surprise and the Dutch crunch bread is fantastic. Will be back!

I will recommended this place to anyone in the San Deigo area. The owner is amazing, his toys are amazing, his stories are even better. Exceptional food! Just down from the beach! It doesn't get much better. If there was a 10 they would get an 11! I will be back again.
We had a catering from this place for our small home party, and the food was FANTASTIC. Meat skewers are so tender that melt in your moth. And I don't recall myself eating rice (!) and potato(!) with such an excitement. Not a single complaint, everything is perfect. Also, placing an order was a great experience itself. Thank you!
The owner was very friendly, we ordered a cheese sandwich and it was perfectly toasted. The variety of candy was good too, Lion bars, Mars bars, maltasers. Haven’t seen those candies here in the US in a long time. I will definitely go back.
I recently had the opportunity to dine at Lobster West while in town for a conference. The restaurant’s convenient location and the option for outside seating added to the overall pleasant dining experience. The highlight of my meal was the delicious lobster roll, paired perfectly with their rich and flavorful clam chowder. It was a delightful discovery, and I’m truly grateful that I found this gem. I highly recommend Lobster West to anyone looking for a great seafood experience.
Always amazing food and fast service. They have a lot of healthy options and the flavor is great! Salmon crispy bowl is my favorite.
Great quality with fresh ingredients. Huge plus that they have vegan cheese and vegan “meat” that isn’t an additional charge to the customer. As somebody with dietary restrictions, it’s much appreciated.

Greg this is a good spot after you land and arrive to get good food without waiting. Get the crispy chicken tenders (you pick 2 or 3, but 2 is filling unless you're really hungry, btw honey mustard sauce is best for it). Add 2 sides:
Rainbow carrots & golden beets: good
Macaroni & cheese: standard and good

UPDATED: the achin 4 bacon sandwich is literally out of this world! obsessed. the sandwiches are HUGE though, so plan to share with someone or maybe order a half “lunch box”. rubicon has one of the best sandwiches i’ve ever had, and honestly might be the best sandwich place in san diego. love!!!!😍
update feb 26, 2024: what?😭 ordered our fav sandwiches here through uber eats and a MASSIVE bag of just bread gets delivered? how does this happen.. what? literally insane. if they can’t fulfill the order I understand but why would you accept the order? seems like a bag of trash/donations or maybe even a TooGoodToGo order? unmarked bag, no UberEats receipt, just a ton of bread, two bags of chips, a bag of cookies and no sandwiches. so sad, i was so excited to order from here again 😂 photos attached

We really enjoyed this place. We ate here for lunch and everyone in our group loved what we got. It was really busy. The food was well prepared and portions were generous. The parking lot was a big hassle and really busy but there are alot of other businesses in the lot. We'd go back there for sure.
This is my first time in San Diego and wanted to try a Mediterranean resturant as an alternative to Mexican and sea food options.
I think it exceeded my expectations and I really liked the meat. However, the brown rice was poorly cooked and was oily. I did not like the samosa as well.

Lured here by 2g2g at the last minute as we were in the area and they were closing, thought we'd check them out and my oh my they gave us a huge surprise bag filled to the top with bread and a couple bags of chocolate chip cookies. The bread were pillowy soft, smelled and tasted amazing, we will be using them to make lots of sandwiches, thank you so much for your generosity! 🫶

Kandice was very helpful at the register giving recommendations and options for our order. My mother had the shrimp with Parmesan butter and enjoyed it very much with a side of brussels sprouts and roasted rainbow carrots. The carrots were perfectly done to an al dente with a sweetness and served warm.
I had the local mixed beet salad and enjoyed it very much. The dressing was perfectly tart with not too much vinegar. the beats were perfectly cooked to be firm. The salad was a very good variety of flavors with arugula, pinenuts, and goat cheese. The salad was large enough to leave me perfectly satisfied for half a dessert.

Was in the area and wanted a healthy stop for dinner. Maybe it was just what I ordered (salmon plate with tomato pesto quinoa and sesame broccolini) but I felt the food was a little lackluster. Did not like the taste of the quinoa — couldn’t taste the tomato pesto. Did not like the sauce the salmon came with. My friend got mashed potatoes with her plate and their consistency/texture was off. They were a little hard, not fluffy or soft. The only thing I liked was the sesame broccolini.
Service was fine, though. You order at the counter and take a number back to your seat. The interior ambience was also very nice. Dim, intimate lighting, complete with lots of seating and decorated with large plants. The food just was not for me personally!

My mom and I were visiting the area from Florida. We came here for a quick bite. The guy at the counter was so friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. The fries were probably some of the best fries I’ve ever had. Also I loved the black cherry soda! Definitely recommend

The burger 🍔 was flavorful but but pricy. I got the impossible MeltBurger and cookie-n-cream milkshake and paid $28 (I did ask for extra avocado but I guess what you see in the picture is "extra"). The milkshake was really good.

i’m not kidding when i tell you, the doordash order i got from this place saved my life. in the midst of a low blood sugar and time of the month induced meltdown, i order a nice sandwich, salad, and pickle combo and await its arrival, hoping it will fix me. imagine the shock and awe and raw emotion flowing through me when i unwrap my sandwich and find a beautiful little chocolate chip cookie nestled in the paper. well done rubicon deli, today you were my guardian angel. <3
Chill evening with casual dining and eats. Food made fresh and reasonably priced. The restaurant charges a small surcharge to pay for employees medical and this is clearly written and I agree. This makes great sense. The food came promptly. We had chicken Cobb salad, build your own triple with chicken, mash potatoes, and mac n cheese. Tomato basil soup and more mash on the side and this was a great meal. We also had a large cowboy cookie which was oatmeal coconut yummy.
Very impressed with the food at Urban Plates. When I arrived and I saw it was kinda like an order and take your number to a table I was wondering if it would be as good as the pictures. I can assure you it is. Excellent presentation and even better taste. I was very happy. The atmosphere was pleasant; there are several tables and a few benches and outdoor seating decor. It wasn't like most dining places where half the tables are dirty from prior customers; it was very clean and welcoming. I would definitely return. I will likely visit this place again on a future trip to San Diego.
The chicken bowl tasted like sugar less lemonade . We had to go to the indian restaurant at the side to satisfy our hunger . We had chicken wrap which had no salt ,was stuffed with lettuce and we had to search to find chicken pieces. Fries were disaster with no sauce served . Had to go to the counter to ask for salt which was placed to the right of counter. This place was a disappointment but I think they will be healthy choice for the diabetics and hypertension. Ps serve tap water at least with the meals the adjacent restaurants do so
First time trying The Melt. I ordered the patty melt with added mushrooms minus the spicy mustard. My bestie had the Sicilian. We split the meal and also got sweet potato fries. Paid $25
The patty melt was amazing! I loved it more than the chicken sandwich. I would love the patty melt on garlic bread also.

I came to Marketplace Grille today for the first time since 2019 and was so happy that it was still the amazing food I remembered. I told my co-worker that outside of my Mom’s home cooked food, this is easily top 3 Mediterranean restaurants in San Diego. I highly recommend the chicken plate or bowl. They cook the chicken kabob on coals, and it’s phenomenal. I would get the herb rice, and always get the side of hummus with the pita bread. It is amazing hummus. Owners and servers are nice, they’ve owned it forever. Great location, very quiet, lots of outdoor tables. This has quickly become my favorite lunch spot in La Jolla.
Surprise! I wish I had come earlier. The pizza is fresh with crunchy bread and melted cheese (look at that!). Truffle mushroom taste with fresh onion, sweet and baked flavor. The wings are soft and the sauce is great. The skin is a bit hard for some pieces but overall great! Great service as well!
The workers were both soo kind! They rushed my order so I could eat before the movie started. And the food was still so yummy!! Definitely way better than overpaying for a hotdog at the theatre.

A nice chill vibe while enjoying pizza and beer. The pizza and salad are average but it is the vibe and the unique way they sell beer that makes this pace standout. Beer is purchased by the ounce. They provide you some sort of device that communicates with the tap how much beer you have served yourself. I like the idea because you can sample your own beers without paying for a full glass.

Convenient place to grab a quick bite before a movie. They have pizza slices ready to eat. A nice selection of beers on tap. The offer a three item combo deal with choice of pizza, salad, sandwich, or drink.
If you like a solid deli sandwich cheese shop is a great place to check out. They have a great selection of styles to choose from along with most any type of candy, or soda as well. I have been here many times and have always left satisfied. Just be careful about enjoying your sandwich on the beach, seagulls will dive bomb you for them.
100/10 rating!! I got a cold cut Club Sandwich after the La Jolla kayaking... exactly what I needed!!! The sandwich was delicious... the Swiss cheese was so fresh. The sandwich was even better with the side of pickle. Mr. Dave was such a sweet man.. great hospitality and service. He even served us warm homemade oatmeal cookies. Can’t wait to go back!!!
Mixed experience. The food was delicious, but a tad pricey and lacking. The service was really great. They brought lots of complimentary pita bread and hummus upon request. The chicken wrap didn’t have a lot of flavor and came with a hair. The salmon bowl didn’t have enough salmon. It was mostly rice and parsley, a bit too much parsley. The corn on the cob was burnt. The chicken plates are probably your best bet, although you’ll be left wanting more chicken too. Overall, the funny and kind employees make it a more pleasant experience than not.
