Evocative monument in a beautiful working fisheries harbour. Always a poignant reminder of the risk attached to working by the sea.
Lovely place with beaches below the cliffs and a lovely harbour. Had plenty of water activities for all the family.
Beautiful memorial wall, opened by The former president of Ireland Mary Mc Allesse many years ago, for all the men, women and children who lost their life's at sea so far around the South East coastal waters, my dad's name unfortunately is on it 😓. Every year a mass is arranged with choir and speeches from local people. A must see if you visit Dunmore East Harbour. Enjoy.
It's some thing we all dread is an accident at sea but now days we have excellent rescue orginasions to deal with these, such a great help. This memorial is worth a visit and to read the names on the wall.
I was a fisherman in Dunmore east many years ago, loved it then and love it now, what a beautiful place and lovely poeple.
Unfortunately the fishing industry is not what it was and there's much charm lost, how ever beautiful.

Young, old, Irish nationals, men and women of other nations, drowned in the harbour, torpedoed thousands of miles away, all remembered on this simple memorial wall.
A thought provoking, simple memorial to all those who've been lost at sea from the village.
