For those among us who have found x-country skiing a serene experience "far from the madding crowd," High Point offers skiers and snowshoers a very nice variety of trails with scenic views and well groomed surfaces suitable for almost every level of winter enthusiast.
The Nature Interpretative Center is an inviting, cozy spot to relax, purchase and rent equipment and the staff is knowledgeable and committed to providing a welcoming atmosphere. Easily accessible from the metropolitan area, High Point X-Country makes me wish we had a true winter culture with abundant snow so the season could last longer!

Great trails to xc ski and super friendly staff. Trails are groomed and maintained extremely well even considering the fact that NJ snow and weather is very poor. Good variety of difficulty and distance of trails with nice scenery. The negative reviews on here seem like they are due to unforeseen circumstances or personal error (forgetting to collect personal collateral for rentals). I’ve never had any issues whatsoever and it’s my favorite and best xc ski center, in my opinion, within a few hours of NYC.

Great place to learn how to XC ski. What a fun workout! There was a very long line to get rentals at 8:45AM on Saturday, so I recommend dressing in layers as you may be standing around for quite some time. There were a lot of beginners (myself included) but people were generally very nice and patient, except for one lady who told people to move out of her way. The staff were wonderful and plenty of social distancing, masks, and hand sanitizers to make me feel safe and comfortable. You are responsible for your own property, but there were signs posted and staff reminded us to pick up our IDs after returning our rentals. I can't believe people would post a negative review due to their own lack of awareness!

This is a nicely maintained area. We had great powder and a beautiful day. I do think they should add signage for the beginner trail - there were several forks where we weren’t sure of the right direction, even with trail maps. Also, if you are a beginner, I suggest you walk down the hill outside the lodge before putting on your skis. Enjoyed the roaring fire in the lodge after skiing.

Great snow (6 Feb 2021), full coverage and nicely tracked trails. The area groomed for skate skiing wasn't very smooth on Scenic View Trail and Cedar Swamp Trail due to the number of people skiing/beginners crashing. Social distancing was observed. Park was full by probably 11am and there was a very long line for rentals prior to that. Staff was very friendly and helpful in communicating where to go and that rentals were running out. If you can bring your own equipment on weekends you will save a lot of time. Great area to ski and beautiful trails on a lake and through the woods. Beginner friendly, didn't get to any harder trails so can't speak for them. Definitely would ski here again.

We drove 2 hours one way just to receive horrible service. First, rentals and entrance fee are extremely overpriced for the actual condition of ski tracks. You will literally find large stones on your track. Second, when we returned our rentals, their staff forgot to return our driver's license. They asked for my last name multiple times just to forget the most important step of the process. They called my cell only after 8pm (!!!) to tell me that WE forgot our driver's license. We asked them twice if they could at least offer an apology. However, we haven't received any. I would have expected them to overnight my license but the best they could offer was just to mail it via regular USPS services. Never again. Extremely disappointed!

We were excited to go cross country ski after a snow storm. We made the reservation online for the trail tickets and equipment rental and drove to the ski center. After we arrived, they told us there were no rental equipment available. We were very disappointed. and it took us one hour to get refund. I will be hesitated to go to this place on weekend.

My experience at the High Point Cross Country Ski Center was awesome. The trail system is extensive and the trails loop into one another, so you can spend hours in beautiful scenery without having to repeat the trails. All trails are well groomed, in very good condition and are geared towards various levels of proficiencies. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I even was permitted to give my husky a good workout ski-joring the trails. Trail passes, rentals, lessons and their food are reasonably priced. If you are looking for a close get away, this is the place to choose. I will be back for sure!
