I didn’t know this place existed until my family and I were on our way home from western KY and saw the monument from the highway. We needed a break anyway so we stopped in. The staff working the gift shop were very friendly. This is a neat place to stop and think about our history. Unfortunately the elevator inside the monument was out of order the day we stopped, I would’ve liked to have taken it up to the top for the view. Maybe next time.

Such a beautifully kept place. Bathrooms are clean, grounds are manicured, and of course the monument was impressive!

A great historical experience shared with my guest from Washington state. It was very beautiful and informative. Front desk from the museum was very nice and friendly ❤️

The fourth largest concrete monument in the United States is a tribute the the President of the Confederacy who was born here in Kentucky before going on to lead the group of states that seceded from the Union.
I was here super early and that gave me the opportunity to explore the grounds undisturbed. No one in any of my pictures but that does mean that I was unable to visit the top of the monument.
There is plenty of parking, lots of picnic sites and a playground. Restrooms are available during business hours.
We're in very rural Kentucky so there is not much else nearby.

Look pretty nice on the road but they close the gates a bit early. We got there at 3:50 and the gates were closed, but it said they were open until 4:30 PM
Also, the sign from the interstate doesn’t tell you how far it is (15 miles)
I would go to it again if I were in the area to get the full experience.

I visited on a weekday afternoon and was the only person there. Didn’t go into the museum/shop, just walked around and read what I could from the gate at the top of the stairs. Quiet with beautiful old trees and a nice playground and picnic area. Friendly security guards that lock the gate at 4:30.

It's a beautiful area with an interesting monument to a person and moment of history. Was closed without indicating why. Could still walk around and read the information. Suggest looking up information before heading out. Nice park for a picnic or just to relax a bit.

From a purely historical standpoint, it's cool that this monument is in the middle of nowhere KY honoring the confederacy's only president. This structure is impressively massive, and the park lands are very nice. Small museum behind the structure and elevator inside the monument when it's operational. Some folks put a lot of money into this back in the day.. I hope I'm not paying for it now.
