It’s not even 1 star. So called luxury gym never has any space available at the pool. There’s no way making a reservation. There is no one in charge in any given moment. Don’t waste your money here there are much better gyms for 1/3 of the price.

I’m a monthly member who lives nearby. Maybe the bad reviews come from out of towners whose local lifetimes are the size of malls and have parking lots.

This is Manhattan. We make do with more compact spaces and are accustomed to crowds. That being said: I’m here 5 mornings a week. Busy? Yes.
New Yorkers are serious about their gym time. But over crowded? No. Equinox is overcrowded, but not this lifetime.
AND we know how to share space, politely weave into equipment with body language and we respect each others space. This is a quality gym, with quality people. I’ve only been treated with utmost kindness by the staff and other members.

I take off one star because when a machine breaks it takes way too long for repair. Should be 2 days max when space and machines are limited. I’ve waited more than 10 days for machines to be repaired. It’s not life shattering - I use other equipment, but at this price point, repairs should be quick. I’ve also struggled with the broken lockers on the main floor. It seems as if their staffing in regards to maintenance is lacking. Perhaps a new provider? This morning the hinges off of at least a half dozen lockers were broken. Come on guys. We can do better when charging 250+ a month.

I came as a guest, and from someone who's been to many many gyms from low to mid to high tier. The draw for this Lifetime is the roof deck pool, I'm not exactly 100% sure on the formalities of how you can use as a member because you may have to pay $1500 on top of membership for access, and $75 day pass if you want to use. It's an alright outdoor pool space, the service seems to be decent enough and there is enough space to sprawl out a bit. It's New York, you get what you get in terms of outdoor pools.

Now for the rest of the facilities, super cool there's a basketball court and spa services. The workout floor itself is so tiny and seems to be an afterthought. Location of the locker rooms are strange to me and hard to find with little direction so first timers can easily get lost. I wouldn't use this change personally but the outdoor roof deck pool is nice.

Not your typical Lifetime. They charge a steep monthly fee but services, equipment, and space are lacking. Several times I walk into the gym and leave 5min later because it’s too packed to get a work out in. Guest policy is very generous which is part of the issue. They prefer to attract a mass amount of people over offering a quality experience. This is how good brand names suffer. Fingers crossed for better management.

Updated July 14 2024 - wish I could give this place a negative rating. 3rd time in a week I walked in and left immediately due to extreme volume of people. Management makes zero attempt to control flow.

Title: Disappointing Experience at Lifetime Fitness Manhattan

Rating: ⭐️ (1 star)

I am incredibly disappointed with the experience my family and I had at the Lifetime Fitness Manhattan location. As loyal members, we have always enjoyed the facilities and services offered by Lifetime Fitness. However, our recent visit left us feeling unwelcome and frustrated.

Despite checking in just the day before without any issues, we were suddenly informed that my son, who is under 14, wasn't allowed on the premises. The front desk staff's rude attitude and lack of clear communication only exacerbated the situation. Furthermore, we were threatened with police escort and termination of our membership, which was completely uncalled for.

It is disheartening to see such treatment extended to loyal members like us. Additionally, my attempts to reach out to corporate have been met with silence, further highlighting the lack of accountability within the company.

I urge Lifetime Fitness to address this issue promptly and ensure that all staff members are trained to handle situations with professionalism and courtesy. As a member of the Lifetime Fitness community, I expect better treatment and respect from the company.

I hope that by sharing my experience, others will be aware of the potential challenges they may face when visiting this location.

For $299 a month, this gym offers not much. There are only 7 treadmills available, so naturally they are always occupied. Some treadmills are also always broken. In fact, something is always broken here, either a treadmill, or hot water or the door. Classes and instructors are super mediocre. Tried many classes and not a single one stood out to me. Showers are smelly. They also always find a way to charge extra. Pilates classes are extra $40 a session. Extra for pickleball. You can’t also use the outdoor pool area on the weekends (although you are a member) because they’d rather charge the public. Do yourself a favor and go to Equinox. Better quality of service. Better classes.
Kids classes are a joke. Don't take your kids here. Just Google how to have your children get use to the water. The RI sport center is $70 a month. The people working this place are clueless and uninterested in making progress.
It went from $75 last year to $150 in 2023. Might as well get a pool pass for a nice hotel in the city.

Just called to make reservations and was told reservations are no longer needed and daily passes are $150 fee per person. I found this ridiculous. LOL

Turkish Hammam and cold plunge are incredible!!! Rachel, taught a sweaty, intense Flow yoga class that was challenging and fun! cooling off in the cold plunge after a heated yoga class was a perfect combination!

the rooftop pool was not available to use, even with my diamond membership. something about an agreement with the condos neighborhood association, and it's an additional pool pass. they wanted me to pay $100 for a day pass! but it wasn't on top of a skyscraper like the photos imply. it's on the eleventh floor of the building and the residences go up higher in a separate tower. pool didn't seem that exciting to be honest. just a shallow leisure pool. (our outdoor pool at home is better with waterslides and fountains and lap lanes.) so.... check out the Turkish Hammam....
The price on the website says $50 entry but once you trek all the way over, it’s actually $150 for entry.
Ridiculous prices ! $150 for day pass??? They clearly don’t want non residents there!

A very magical place! I was able to land a movie deal called '' The Jesse Daniels Story'', overserved how to be a great executive from Ryan from LT corporate and Alan the Founder of U Hoops. I'm a local from Harlem that can honestly say this place changed my life in a positive way.
Nice pool for learning to swim. The membership is kind of expensive for membership if you are not a resident. But we really enjoyed it when doing baby swim class as part of aquafit swim class. Also the location is very convenient from queens to get to. It's outdoors though so good only for summer. The indoor pool on the south of the island is better for all seasons but is currently undergoing renovation.
Went there today.. got there around 12:30.. they wouldn’t let me in because it was full capacity & I came all the way from Long Island. It cost 70.00 for a weekend day pass. Apparently it gets very crowded. Maybe I’ll try again during the week. I hear weekday passes are 55.00, today was a waste of time for me I had to take the train & bus to get there & then couldn’t get in. Very upsetting!
