My wife's inner child took over as she removed her shoes and played in the splash fountain. It was a hot day and there were many children enjoying the reprieve from the heat, all with a sense of joy. My wife enjoyed herself immensely as she played

It’s good to see the fountain running. Great time with families. Such a cool functional art piece.

The fountain is in disrepair. There are dangerously loose pavers on the surrounding steps. Also, the drains were not working properly, so standing water was pooled all around the area.

The fountains at Coolidge Park are great for children to play in. The Chattanooga Parks and Recreation does a great job announcing any and infrequent closures.
Super shaded playground with well kept (new) play equipment and all around fencing. Very nice! Too bad there aren’t that many kids playing here most days!

The fountains are never working, and there is no way to see when the water will be on. Coolidge Park needs a lot of money to fix things up.

Pretty decent park for being right on a busy street. Looks like they have fixed some of the negative and dangerous aspects of the park in the last few months so kids aren't easily able to run right onto the main sidewalk as easily. Accessible play with wheelchair ramp. Great view of the river.
very good when it's hot! a lot of happy kids🤩

Great view but the play are is a little rundown. I heard they’re going to revamp the whole riverfront in the coming few years, so I’m definitely looking forward to that.

The fountain was not working when I went but that was because they were replacing the pumps. This place looks like a blast and water or no water my kids still had fun playing in it. Yes, they had fun playing in a dry splash pad
Very clean, fenced in, I let my 3 year old run around and didn't feel the need to chase after her
Clean park, but very limited on play equipment. 2 small play sets and 1 tire swing. This park is great for children 6 and younger.
As other reviewers have stated, this playground is a disaster waiting to happen. The play structure has a ramp that feeds straight into the busy highway with no gate. The way it is arranged, it actually blocks the parents from getting to the road and sends the kids straight to the street. Other reviewers have suggested a gate, but none has been added. Parents were taking turns catching kids before they ran out to the road.
Great playground, easy parking, lots of open space and great view of the river.
The playground is not as good as the riverview one. I will go riverview if your kids want to play. For the view, it’s better here
Awesome playground with lots of covered picnic tables, open space, and well kept.
Well kept area. Covered picnic area was perfect for a small family reunion. Nice playground equipment for the kids.

This is a nice playground with a basketball goal, plenty of space for kids to run around. The equipment needs a little maintenance and upkeep (like some bearings greased) but it also has a splashpad and an exercising area.
Below is Morgan's review of the park. I had the same exact experience today. I had to army/belly crawl under the fence to save my 19 month old from running into the road, since he ran onto the sidewalk from the playground. The experience was like a horror movie- I was fenced in while my son was in imminent danger. This playground is a tragedy waiting to happen. The picture attached is taken after the event from the playground. As you can see, if you are not physically on the playground, there is no way out. If you look closely on the right you see a little ice cream cup, that is where I army crawled under the fence to get to my toddler. He only stopped because I screamed like I never had in my life.

Previous poster who had a very similar experience to mine: This playground is dangerous. It's right next to the street and the playground structure goes to the road, so if you are in the playground to catch your kid as they go down the slide they can get to the road quick and you are fenced in. Meaning you have to climb up onto the playground structure to catch him/her. It would be easy to add a small gate and resolve this issue. Until they do, I wouldn't recommend it for independent child who dont freeze when you say to everytime or for parents with multiple kids. . Note my son is two and he loved the slides up until mommy lost her mind because he made it to 2 steps from the street before I caught him. At his home park he does good with staying on the play ground but there is easy boundaries (dont get on the grass) this one the structure goes to the sidewalk and then the road. He was still playing until i panic screamed. Then he stopped and cried.

Would not stay there
We walked down to the Chattanooga Riverfront on a sunny but cool day in May. About half the playground is shaded giving the parents a cooler vantage point to keep an eye on the little ones while they burn up some energy. The park designers designed this park for 5-12 year old but my 3 1/2 year old had lots of fun running up and down most of the obstacles without a problem. The rest of the Prato has an abundance of sitting areas to enjoy the views of the Tennessee River and the bridges that connect north and south Chattanooga. Lots of restaurants and small shops make this a great picnic option.

Decent playground. This is a great place to bring kids. This playground is actually a pretty big playground with many different things to play on. There is also a frisbee golf course right next to it as well as a community center. I would recommend this place because of all the many types of play equipment there is.
Beautiful park. I wish teenagers weren't wrecking it already like the one who ran by and threw his empty water bottle on the ground and then ran off but the park itself is cute and perfect for an afternoon for the kiddos.
Clean, well maintained public park with a large off-leash dog park.
It's nice for what it is... Small playground for the neighborhood to enjoy.
