They recommended this good restaurant to me, and I appreciate it. Excellent food, good place with a parking lot in front, affordable prices. Today, Wednesday, they are offering a discount on the Korean menu.

I have not been here since 2021, drove a long time to get here and it did not disappoint! While other restaurants have decreased the quality of their food since lockdown, I was happy to find that this is not the case with Totoya. Will be sure to come back here with family next time. Something to note, as per other comments, is that the wait time can be quite long and it is quite crowded. Thankfully today it was not too bad though.

Taste is not bad and not as expensive as other Korean pochas in central Auckland areas

It's a bustling spot, and there's consistently a line to wait in. I believe they could benefit from hiring a few more staff members. Nevertheless, they are renowned for their delectable side dishes, and they certainly live up to their reputation. Additionally, their main dishes are also quite good.

Decent food. Service level okay. But they need to really understand why the place was popular (past tense). It wasn't the food.

First time visited today, definitely will come back again, super lovely 8 free tasty side dishes. The restaurant was busy, tables filled up very quickly!
Pretty spacious Korean restaurant, affordable and friendly service.

We were so happy with the the food, we came back again this week. The side dishes are the best we've had anywhere and the pork bone soup was amazing!

They refused to provide soup bowls without any explanations.
My friend and I ordered the $28 lamb soup, would like to ask two bowls for drinking soup. Three young waiters working on the day advised they don’t have empty bowls, even though they have bowls for containing rice. Therefore, they offered two shallow empty dishes for us to drink soup, which was totally ridiculous. One of the shallow dishes was not even cleaned.
I accidentally saw they gave the other table two bowls for containing their ginger beer to share when I was about to leave.
Really bad and disappointed experience. We used to order a lot lamb soup for takeaway when they dine in was not available.
The place is thee best! food is sooo amazing and the servers are so friendly and kind!! My family and i come here regularly and i wish they would open another shop closer to central so we don’t have to make such a trip every time we want to eat their amazing food. This time we got the raw marinated crab as well as the spicy pork back bone soup and they were both sooo good. flavours are always so perfect and they give sooo many side dishes which are refillable.
If someone were to ask me for a restaurant recommendation i would say hands down this place!

Yum yum yum! the food here is sooo good! we got the rose fried chicken, raw beef bibimbap and the corn cheese and they were all the best. The flavours are so nice and everything just works so well together. Although it’s a little pricy i’d say that it’s totally worth it especially for sharing so that u can try a bit of each dish. The atmosphere is nice and has a kind of wooden theme. the service is also really speedy and friendly! overall super great dining experience would totally recommend.
The lamb soup was delicious and rich with big chunks of tender lamb. Dumplings were also very good and love the fillings. Side dishes were yum but a bit spicy. The male staff were very nice and friendly:)

Nice and cozy restaurant with a good staff. Food was good with fat service. Pork dishes we got was delicious! Kimchi pancake could've had more flavor.
Prices were reasonable as well. Overall good experience. 👍🏻

Simya is one of the many Korean restaurants in the area. This one has a small section of off-street parking in front of the restaurant. There are also other places in the area so parking could get quite busy and full. The restaurant does look a bit small but it has a fair number of tables.
The menu has a large selection of Korean dishes. We grabbed the mixed boneless chicken, beef bulgogi soup, butter cheese corn and the spicy pork and octopus. The bulgogi and the pork and octopus were cooked at the table. All the dishes were really tasty. It was a nice place to sit, chat and eat since it didn't get too noisy.

Highly recommend👍The atmosphere is great, and the spicy stir-fried pork and octopus is sooo authentic and tasty😋My husband and I watched an episode of 거침없이하이킥 while enjoying the meal. I would no longer have to admire the characters in the episodes🤣as I’m tasting delicious Korean food too.

The main dishes were amazing, good portions and the side dishes were rly yum as well. Grilled pork was my favourite! It had good seasoning and a hint of charred taste which was super yummy.

The service was also really amazing. Going to korean restaurants as a non korean Asian have been a bit of a mixed experience. Either it’s really bad or really amazing. Luckily in this case the staff were really helpful and super friendly. Definitely have to come back and support them.
I have been coming to those little family family restaurant for over 10 years and they have never disappointed me.

The service is fast and amazing.

The food does vary slightly when they're busy but wherever you get a chance to be one of the first patrons, you won't be disappointed.

Friendly and accommodating!

This place is the worse place to dine in do NOT recommend not worth the money food was small portion not made with love even the rice was yuk it tasted so dry the food had no taste tasted disgusting the chefs look untidy also look unhappy and not interested making the food other korean restaurant are heart warming this place had a cold uncomfortable place to dine in all the workers look GRUMPY no smiles never coming back here waste my money
For those who have access to it, I’d strongly recommend you to try the lamb soup. I went there every week while I was in Auckland, and then I left for China, Thailand and Indonesia with the belief that it’s just another home dish that could be found in most Korean restaurants but I couldn’t find any lamb soup that could stand comparison with this, needless to say most of them don’t even serve lamb. I miss it every now and then for six years and even regret I didn’t take proper pictures of these but just one takeaway. Btw the kimchi and radish are the best in the world to me even though they are our local dish in NE China. Plus the chilli sauce is like an indecipherable palate mystery.

Cosey vibe liked the layout of the place. Some unique options on the share menu from what I’ve seen way other Korean restaurants which is what drew me to it. Got the pork belly and baby octopus between two people to share. Was tasty and well made, only con is the portion is on the smaller side and not as much meat compared to veges and rice cake in the mix but I guess that’s the norm these days. Corn butter was tasty, and as was the rice ball though I’ve had better-shoutout to Kaya in cbd when they were open! On the lookout for more rice balls.
Sides were a bit of a let down, not the usual number nor the quantity and side dishes are one of the best things about Korean food imo! Overall good try out in the shore, there are so many Korean places to choose from though, usually more than one in every corner so much more to try than to repeat.

A cute little Korean restaurant with great side dishes and a nice range of menu items. Most dishes are quite large so it’s great for sharing between friends, or sharing a medium stew/soup between two is a great option. Everyone there was friendly and the atmosphere was great.

Food tastes very good, we ordered the Pork Bone Hotpot. Table wasn't very great, too low and no room for my legs. Ended up cutting my leg on the edge :|.
Lighting was very dark with blue neon lights.

One of the worst Korean food dining experience in a long time.
I had previously visited here and was about a 3-4 star rating as I liked their chargrilled bulgogi.
However, my recent visit the portion on donkatsu was tiny, the meat they used had strong smell and had big chunk of fat throughout. Their chicken kalguksu had zero taste and just threw in one piece of chicken breast with hardly any vege.

Service was good however as an example... the prawns was not cleaned and gutted so then I took a bite of the prawn after I removed the head and shells I felt the crunch of sea shells and then I noticed the guts was still there. Price for experience/offering is not in line. Not happy with food quality sadly. I believe with just a few tweaks things can be improved.
~$400 for 9 people, ~$45/person

I would highly recommend the marinated beef ribs and the spicy pork hangover stew! The cold noodles and side dishes were pretty decent as well. The raw beef dish was absolutely delicious and definitely higher quality than what some other korean places serve.

Be warned that the meat for KBBQ has a minimum 2 portion requirement, meaning at least 2 portions of the *same* meat.

Overall a fantastic place :-)

Awesome Quality, Cheap and Very Yummy!
Can get side dish for free as much as you want. Side dish is freshly made on the day, everytimes have different types of side dish.
I get refill two times. haha

It is wondeful service. Always busy and fast to be no vacancy tables. so better to book table before come.

All mains except noddle come with rice.

A small restaurant with only few seats but the food was pretty good especially the generous portion of side dishes. Spicy pork was very delicious but the pork katsu was a bit small tho compared to other Korean restaurants.

Had beef bulgogi and chicken noodle soup. Taste was average for the bulgogi. Bulgogi a bit expensive at $25 but you somewhat more meat than other places.

I like the creaminess of the chicken noodle soup and the taste is not bad but it was rather salty. plus for $18, it is mostly noodles. There was only like 5 or 6 small pieces of chicken in it.

Service can be good or soso depending on which waiter you get.

Do not order the seafood soup hot pot - the soup base is plain spicy with little taste, which ruins all the ingredients in the pot (doesn’t help when the ingredients are also clearly B-grade quality). Side dishes were below average too, there are much better Korean restaurants.

First time dining here. The staff was lovely, and gave us some side dishes and rice while we were waiting. Side dishes are yum, and rice is of good texture. We ordered Hot and Spicy Chopped Roast Chicken Stew. The soup is very flavoursome, but with too many big potatoes. Would feel more satisfied If the stew could combine other vegetables rather than just the potatoes and carrots:)
This Korean food place is different than others. We ordered bulgogi beef to take-away. It was yum. It came with a case full of condiments. Those were good, too.

We were looking for a place to eat quite late around 2000 and found this place. The restaurant is located in the new shopping blocks on Rosedale road. You have to drive into the blocks since the restaurant is near the back.
The place is fairly decently sized with a closed balcony area. The mural on the wall was very interesting, traditional Korean artwork with robots in them. The menu isn't very large but has some very interesting items like snails and pupae.
I opten for the spicy chewy noodles which was both spicy and chewy. There wasn't as much noodles as I'd like but it was good. The side dishes were also interesting, particularly the soy pickled onions.
This restaurant looks to have quite a traditional Korean menu which is interesting. It doesn't have the common items from other Korean places like bulgogi but does have other more interesting things in its place.

I had the cold noodles with sashimi today and it was delicious! Lots of noodles, cold and refreshing, tasty with real ice nangmyeon sauce. I also ordered the pork cutlet because my friend recommended it to me and it was a very popular menu item. Nice big portions. Loved everything we ordered, will come again!

Tasty food, good size portions, lots of side dishes without needing to get certain main dishes. Well presented food and friendly staff.
Always keen for a good Korean BBQ. This place was on the way to where we were heading up north and thought we would try it out. It was lunch so we didn't want to order too many things. The service was great and the sides were amazing. A lot of variety and also it tasted so fresh. The marinated beef was so tender and the cuts were good. The bibimbap was wholesome. Would definitely be back here with a bigger group to enjoy more food.

I'm not a fan of beef tartare but I must say the one I had here was quite tasty. The side dishes and the fried pork were delicious as well. As the restaurant is pretty authentic, right down to the atmosphere, those who are unfamiliar with Korean food might not be able to appreciate it. But it's a great choice for those looking for something authentic.

The dolsot bibimbap was enjoyed by the kids. Sullong tang was good. The Ukeoji Haejangguk was nice and spicy. Kal guk su was enjoyed by my 9 year old. He said he would have liked a few more shrimp. The kim chi is very good here.

We had dinner here not too long ago. That night was crowded. The restaurant was not too big but comfortable. The food was tasty, prices very reasonable and the serving was average size. Good tradition Korean food, beautiful lamb hot pots or beef sheen at reasonable prices. Very tasty and decent serving. Limited paring in front but plenty on the main road. Expect to wait for a table during peak hours. Service is average but owner operator and you can tell the crew are hard working as it opens 7 days and 11am to 11pm...cant beat that. The Boss man can be grumpy sometimes. Possibily the best Lamb dish/set in town at $16. Taste even better during Cold winter weather. They also sell traditional Korean Soju. Highly recommended.
