If you make the mistake of ordering a delivery from this place, PAY WITH PAYPAL. They are THIEVES and will attempt to ignore you when you contact them for wrong orders! PayPal stepped in immediately and escalated, it’s the only way I got my money back for their royally bad service.
Me and my partner had a wonderful experience here. Honey and Melvin were very accommodating and helped us find the perfect plants for our home. I did see some plants that looked like they needed a bit more help than others but with amount of plants to care for and the amount of staff, it’s understandable.
Overall they have a ton of healthy plants to choose from at a reasonable price. We will definitely be back once these babies settle in and continue to thrive. Thank You Urban Garden!

Pricey!
Staff seems somewhat dazed and unattentive. I had to eait for a staff person to finish texting to close out my purchase. There have been seversl instances in my visits where staffers have been less than reaponsive. I guess rather than supporting a local business again, I'll give up the $$$ to Etsy!

Poor driver quality! Dangerous driving! I pulled over on the side of the road, turned on the double flash in advance, and your driver honked wildly and smashed my car! I pulled over for 30 seconds, he scolded me for 28 seconds, threw a soda bottle at my friend and my car!
The space is really nice and prices pretty fair for the city and I wouldn't hesitate to buy things on site from them again since the quality is pretty good. I would avoid getting things shipped to you from them though, I purchased several bags of soil and I had to call 3 separate times to try and schedule a delivery and each time they kept telling me they would call me back with times and never did. After 2 weeks I called and asked to cancel the order, the person I spoke to didn't seem very pleased but told me the order was cancelled and I would get a refund ... 2 months later and still no refund and I'm out over $300 ... so be careful! I'm not sure if the deliveries are handled by a different team because the customer service at the actual store is great, everyone's always very friendly and helpful but the delivery experience has been pretty frustrating.
Great selection and great experience working with Ramona finding the right plants for me! She was patient, gave me tips for plant care, and even taught me how to repot on the spot! Will definitely be back!
The team from NY Horticulture Group was on time and quickly assessed the logistics of stripping the ivy from a 3-story townhouse in Manhattan. The repelled from the roof and did a great job clearing the ivy, working quickly and professionally. They left absolutely no mess: completely cleaned up. They ended up disturbing a bird next in the ivy, and saved the chick! Rob came over during the job, so there was obviously good management and quality control. I will definitely be hiring them again.

you know how much more herbs I could have bought with $48
I called thinking that there was a mistake but it didn't and I cannot even return them.

We use Metropolitan Garden Design for maintaining our roof top terrace and they are incredible. Extraordinary attention to detail, they work quietly (a thoughtful extra considering the neighbors below!) and thoroughly. Thanks to them our plants are well maintained and as a result they are thriving. I would recommend Ben and his team to anyone who wants to have a lovely, worry free garden.
Ben and his team installed an entire irrigation system for both of my rooftop terrace gardens last minute before I had to go out of town. So quick and professional, they got the whole order and install done in a few days. There's even an app you can get on your phone to view and control the garden's water usage with their system. Then they came back to make sure it was all shut down for winter. Really great, quick, amazing service that saved the garden during my time out of town! Not to mention, even when I was home, it has honestly never looked more lush. Will definitely be contacting them for garden services in the future.
Ben and his team have been wonderful to work with at our Manhattan terrace. They have been maintaining the garden for 2 years now and always remain professional, responsive, and provide quality work. After using 2 previous landscapers and not being satisfied with the work provided to us, we’ve finally found a landscaping company we can rely on!
Metropolitan Garden Design did an incredible job installing lights on our roof top garden. I live in an UWS co-op and we made major enhancements to our roof with new furniture and plants and we had tons of compliments from shareholders. But once we added the lighting to our plants, everyone was even more excited and complimentary. Working with MGD was so easy, they knew exactly what to do and they were so professional with their work. Highly recommend
Robert is fantastic! We have a back yard that needed a complete overhaul. Demo of old bluestone and old plantings. He laid two beautiful bluestone patios and created garden beds. He also did planters around the patios and balcony above. I bid the project to many landscapers, and Robert's pricing was by far the best. Many landscapers have designers on their staff and charge outrageous design fees before you even get started. Robert does the design for free basically, and he is just as talented as any landscape architect. As things go, a few things changed during the work (unforeseen items), and he did not nickel and dime me which I really appreciated. He committed to a timeline a few months in advance and on that day, he arrived ready to get it done. They worked twice as fast as any other landscaper told me it would take. His staff was very respectful of our newly renovated house and cleaned up after themselves every day. I highly recommend NY Hort!!!

Robert and his team are miracle workers and go above and beyond to create the outdoor space of your dreams. We initially thought everything we wanted to complete for our rooftop would take multiple days, but Robert and his team were able to finish everything in one day. Ben and his team did great work with planting and setting up the irrigation system for our brand new rooftop educational garden. Ben listened and was responsive and adaptable in order to help us get the end result we were looking for.
I found Metropolitan Garden Design via google along with 3 other vendors. Ben (the owner) was the only one who was responsive and hands on during the biding process, he came onsite to look at the space and made a plan with me right there on how we should move forward. Cost was more than fair, they are not overpriced and Ben does not try to upsell you on equipment and extras that are not needed. I had to actually talk him into upgrading us to a wifi enabled system even though we really did not need it for our small garden. Once work started, Ben and his team were amazing, they removed our old irrigation system, installed a new one with new controls, removed and disposed of some large old planters, set up the wifi features, trained us on how to use them, and cleaned everything up afterwards, lava rocks along the perimeter to cover the piping as well. This was all done in 2 days. I cant say enough about how smoothly this job went, and Ben was here each day to ensure everything was ok. Ben also stopped by unsolicited a couple of weeks after to just to make sure we were happy with the system and to look it over himself. We will be using Metropolitan Garden Design for all future gardening projects. Thank you again Ben and MGD team.
I used NY Hort for a landscaping project in the city after researching several vendors on Yelp and Angi's list. What I liked most about NY Hort is they had promised to get the job done in one day and were very transparent about costs upfront. The job entailed removing old plants, planting new ones and removing furniture from my patio. The latter was a huge help. They brought in a crew of 2 and what I thought would take a few days to do they managed to finish in about 5 hours. It was really impressive. The staff was very professional. They were able to add a power wash service too for a competitive price.
Ben did a wonderful job on our terrace. He installed a drip irrigation system and was very responsive to our likes and dislikes as far as flowers are concerned. He returned with some additional plants after we requested them. And it all looks great!
The Urban Garden Center has an excellent variety of plants and planters. They also have whatever you require for your planting needs-- like hanging planter rope, air plant holders, terrariums, compost!, standing terra-cotta plant holders, etc-- the list goes on!
They have appropriate price points for their plants too.
Even if you just want to take a nice walk through nature ( under the train station) in the city and see some beautiful greenery-- stop by and enjoy!

Lisa is our go-to person for all things plants! She's been invaluable when it comes to planning and organizing our backyard garden. We have a lot of shade and she had great suggestions for plants that would grow well and brighten up the space. She also knows the New York market very well and always helps us work within our budget. It's obvious how much she loves what she does and she's an absolute pleasure to work with!
