Amazing school with amazing staff!!! The neighborhood is so lucky to have such an amazing school! When I had problems with registering multiple classes online, Amy was so patient and helpful answering my calls and later helped me register class by class when they found out there was something wrong with the system! My kids have been enjoying the classes!!!

I really wish that HSA would be more affordable for the people that is raised and born or better yet lives in this community for over 15 years should get a discount and I’m not talking about financial Aid!!! Which by the way want all my business just for my kid to attend an art program. Now that Harlem is more open to the different Cultures!!!!!! We the Harlem
knights pay the price for it. FYI I went to HSA when it was all black people in Harlem and trust me my mommy did not pay in the 1000’s either.

This place is awesome. Pier 62 has indoor basketball courts, soccer fields, gymnastics rooms, etc.
Okay now that that's out of the way, the real reason I am writing this review is I just finished a pickleball league here, and need to write a message to the Fermented Cucumber faithful. I wont be speaking to the media or doing an exit interview, so this will be my final message for the Cuc fans until next season:
First off, I would like to address the rumors head on. Yes, I had about 6-8 Tequila sodas on the yacht before the game on Thursday. After knocking off the #1 seed "It's Kosher" the week prior, I will be the first to admit I took "Dil with the Dinks" lightly, and it showed.
The bigger picture is that I let the newfound fame, money, and success get to me. When you are from where I am from and receive a Brinks truck of money over night, it's hard to not get lost in it. Icarus, who ignored his father's warnings about his wings melting when flying too close to the sun, comes to mind.
The former undisputed middleweight champion of the world Marvin Hagler but it ever-so eloquently when he said "It's difficult to get up and do roadwork at five in the morning when you're sleeping in silk sheets." I lost sight of what got me here, but I promise you, Cuc faithful, I am getting it back. There is a fire in my belly now bigger than I ever could have imagined. I am going to soak in defeat, and really feel this feeling to fan the flame for next season.
Next season for us starts right now. We have a million and one excuses that we could go to. The fact of the matter is we aren't going to make one. The Dinks played better than we did in this series and we still had an opportunity to win it, but it didn't go for us. This offseason, I'm going to push myself to exhaustion to get back here.
I will not sleep until The Alphabet City Fermented Cucumbers are the ZogSports New York City Indoor Pickle Ball Chelsea Piers Thursday night Champions of the World.
As I write this, Drew Zhou and I are on the way to throw out our silk sheets. I will see you in the Fall, Cuc faithful.

Hosted my son's 5th birthday here in 2019. What a great experience! They prepped 20 small canvases for the kids with a Mario theme, as requested. Everyone had a great time. The staff was kind and accommodating.

I wish I had read these reviews. I was seduced by the branding and the idea of my daughter spending time at NYU. She was in the YouTube camp and it was promised that they would get to use the green screen for their projects and while they were showed the screen they never used it, the teachers said it would be too difficult to set it up. My daughter had experience editing video and so was able to do the assignment of making two 3 min videos, which was the only activity from 9 to 3 for four days, with no direction, no templates, no new skills. Recess was just hanging out. She shared a class with the minecraft and roblox students and was jealous that they got to play games. She showed me her video, which would have been decent if someone had her record herself in a quieter place. The classroom was so loud I am not sure how she was able to concentrate. I gave it 2 stars because my daughter did have fun spending time making a video and a new friend. All said though, agree that it is very overpriced for having unprepared instructors that didnt seem to care much about their students' learning new skills.

I love taking in the view of the Hudson while playing golf. I don't know of any other place where you can enjoy such a great view while you play golf.

Excellent! An experience we'll never forget, and one very different from the times we went on other Harbor cruises.
A breath of fresh air in comparison with other, more crowded , NY City tourist attractions.

Photouno is a great place to learn photography. I have taken many of their courses and every class there's always a lot to learn. The teachers are amazing and always willing to share their knowledge so you can improve your photography skills! Would definitely recommend it!

I highly recommend Kids at Art! My son has done several summer camp weeks there and loved it. The staff is so nice and very talented. My son made some amazing art that blew your family away since he was such a young age. Great classes and lots of fun

Great food and fun golfing 🏌️ with JPM CIB interns.

Fun place for kids and adults who play sports. Pier 61 has a couple of ice skating rinks.
But it is expensive. The vending machine with chips etc is $2.50 / ea
That is crazy!!

Love digital composition I so I started composition II. I've learned so much already. You definitely need to take this class if you are wanting to jump start your new career or hobby. Patricia is wonderful. Very hands on and great vibe. Class sizes and times vary.

Travel photography class is awesome. I enjoyed visiting new places and photographing with the group makes it easy to capture candid images. Our Instructor is very helpful and pays attention to each student. I am absolutely happy with my progress since I started taking classes at PhotoUno Photography School.

My kids have been attending art classes with Wendy for 8 years and they absolutely love it. Wendy is incredibly talented and offers new projects for the kids to work on each week. We plan on going to many more classes as we can't get enough of Kids at Art!

The owner apparently is nice to some, but certainly not all. My wife and I have placed my son in Kids at Art several times over the years during school break. Each time we go there, Wendy never remembers us at all. Huge red flag! Today when I took my son for spring break recess- we've arrived late, because after all, it's for camp, so the pressure of having to get to places exactly on time is somewhat alleviated. Well, we arrived while camp was underway to have a young lady- name I do not recall, open the door after ringing the buzzer. The owner Wendy came charging the door screaming, "NO, NO, NO" while flailing her arms. My son was in shock, and so was I. She insisted that we did not belong in her business. After confirming that we paid to have our son attend the art camp, she never applogized! I mentioned that her behavior was rude, and unprofessional, and by no means should she greet participants or prospects with such disregard. At this point, I'm trapped because I have to get to work, so withdrawing my son was not an option. However, I cancelled all future reservations. It begs to wonder if Wendy treats everyone with such blatant disrespect and indignity, or is this reserved for particular individuals. I believe the latter. This woman is very rude, disrespectful, and condescending at best. But i tend to think the way she reacted toward me and my son has to do with how little she values certain people's business. If this is her behavior while I'm present, I could only imagine the damage she can cause to my son when I am not around.
Therefore,
I would not entrust her with my child's well being again.

I wish I had seen some of the reviews here before I sent my son to a Lavner game coding camp on the Lower East Side in 2022. It was pretty pricey, but the hours and description worked for us so we went with it. I carefully read their COVID policy ahead of time and it seemed good. But then the Friday before the camp I also called to confirm. They explained that masking and vaccines were no longer required nor was testing (which it had said in the description), but said my kid could eat his lunch outside as their one concession. I asked if they had HEPA filters and/or open windows and they said they had central air and could open windows if requested. I said, I would prefer that. They agreed to do so. Then over the weekend e-mailed me that it was too hot to open the windows so they had no plans for ventilation. I'm sure you can guess where this is going - our kid, after 2 and a half years, got COVID. Apparently there was kid there on the first day who was coughing, sneezing and not wearing a mask. They didn't open any windows. They didn't isolate and test or call home. He stayed the whole day but was gone the rest of the week. It turned our household upside down. I wrote to the camp immediately once we got a positive test. No response from them. Not even an acknowledgement that they got my note. Not to mention, my child really learned nothing from the camp. No real lessons or projects to point to. We would have been better off, spent less money, learned more and been healthier if we had just opted for Outschool.

Ashcan's instructors are amazing. More than that, the directors understanding of and kindness toward young adults applying to college, and all of the stress that goes with it, is unsurpassed. We are so grateful for the skilled instructors and kind souls of Ashcan!

Kids at art has some of the best teachers who teaches art history, techniques and help kids fall in love with painting and drawing in a fun way. My daughter learned so much and always have fun with a few different teachers she had there! Highly recommended!

I just got my first iPhone after being team Android ever since I got my first HTC smartphone circa 2010. I'm still getting used to doing things the “Apple way” and PhotoUno's “2-hour iPhone photography class” is an excellent way to accelerate the learning curve of learning to harvest the capabilities of the iPhone camera. We had Francisco (Lyons) as the instructor of the class. We had a small class (4 students) which probably made for a better experience before we all got my individual attention. The class seats up to 9 people.
We started the class off with short introductions, then we got into the very basics of photography. Think ISO, shutter speed, aperture, the rule's of 3rd's etc. I already knew most of this, but this was a greater refresher and I felt it was taught at an adequate level for the uninitiated. We got into shooting actually objects and learning about the multiple settings and functions that the stock iPhone camera app makes available.
The class is laser focus on the default camera app, and the instructor didn't make mention of any 3rd party apps at any point. Overall, I felt that it was well worth the money. Francisco was great and was excellent at breaking down somewhat complicated subjects to a beginner level. I felt a lot more comfortable using the camera after taking this class.

As a black mother, I tried to get my children in that school for years. Now as a black grandmother, I tried to get my grandchildren in there. Total of 28 years, I lived across the street from HSA. I guess my black family wasn’t dark enough, too poor & or not light enough. But, my new neighbors are all up in HSA. They could have been the reason why I didn’t watch so closely. At 60 years old, I have to see a lying clown on CBS. I hope no calls me for the truth.

My daughter has tried a half-dozen art programs in New York City in the past 10 years and Ashcan is the best one by far. The other programs had large and impersonal classes and often spent more time taking students on field trips to museums than on teaching them art skills. While that was fine when my daughter was younger, she wanted more instruction and studio time as she got more serious about her art. Ashcan helped her to develop skills, experiment with mediums, and collaborate with teachers and other students. It has become her second home this past year while she has been working on her college portfolio. Mr. Kim and the instructors are great and they work closely with every student to ensure a highly personalized experience. My daughter has learned so much, it has been amazing to watch her progress. She has won gold keys in the Scholastic art contest and was just accepted early decision to NYU's art program. We highly recommend the Ashcan experience!

This Pier has a combination of Piers, you can organize the best wedding and any event here. The Staff are well-trained, friendly and welcoming. This is kind of located on the Hudson River and you will see different types of Ships here.

Kids at Art is an excellent place for children to express their ideas and learn new art techniques in a fun Art classroom setting!
Wendy and her team are Awesome and very patient with each and every child they teach. I highly recommend her classes and camps.

I was extremely disappointed with this camp. My son attended the Pokémon Trainers Camp this year and was essentially put in a room with other kids to play the TCG software all day. There was no instruction, barely supervision, and zero structure. They were even out in a room with another camp group with different curriculum. (Spoiler: those kids didn’t do anything but sit in front of a screen all day too)
I paid $800 for my son to do exactly what he would have done at home for a week. He learned absolutely nothing new or even what was promised in the camp description.
The only good thing that came out of the week was that he met a new friend. Otherwise, as one reviewer said, it’s glorified babysitting.
Extreme disappointment is probably an understatement.

All of my children have loved Kids at Art. My three year old daughter is currently enrolled in a weekly class with some of her friends and it's always a favorite in the week. We love seeing what she brings home. We've also done birthday parties and it's fantastic and easy.

This place is really cool, really fun. I was invited to the driving range today. Got to whack some balls. The tee sets the ball itself, I just swung over and over again. Even felt myself improving over the 2 hour period.
Overlooking the Hudson, laughing and enjoying the easy vibes. Felt like a nice getaway even though I was still in the heart of the city. Definitely will return soon

Coming from a non-art background I went to Ashcan to get help with my portfolio. It was great working around other people with the same goals and with teachers that are knowledgable and passionate, and it was really helpful to have Mr. Kim there for advice and to always keep me on track with deadlines. After studying there 6 days a week for 8 months I was able to get into all the schools I applied to with very generous scholarships, including an MFA program with a fellowship offer. I feel that Ashcan definitely broadened my horizons in art, and I am extremely grateful to everyone at Ashcan!

The instruction here is very dedicated, patient and kind. When it comes to student work, the instructors will engage you on a level of depth and rigor you will not find elsewhere. In short, Ashcan is sure to help you bring your work to the next level. I'm grateful to have gone here, not only because I got into my dream school, but also because Ashcan was like a "second home"-a place to spend hours honing one's craft, surrounded by creative, inspiring peers. I highly recommend Ashcan for any art/design student!

Ashcan is the best school you can find to prepare your portfolio in NYC. All teachers were very supportive, in Special Mr. Kim; he helped me during the whole application process; it's was fundamental for my acceptance! I really appreciate the entire team from Ashcan!

This center for excellence is amazing. The vision and commitment of gifted musician educators and administrators is in full display. Enjoyed a beautiful spring jazz concert available to the public, and can't wait to return for more.

I found Ashcan after a simple Google search hoping to improve my portfolio so I could get into my dream school, FIT. Sora and Mr. Kim were extremely helpful and patient with me, and explained everything thoroughly before I had started. I had close to no drawing skills whatsoever and I had never touched a sewing machine in my life, but thanks to Mr. Kim and Stefani, who helped with my sketches and garments, I learned many new things and my skills improved dramatically. I got into my dream school and I could not have done it without Ashcan. The environment is very comfortable, you are always surrounded by other passionate students with dreams. It is a little bit on the pricier side, but I think it was worth it, I am very happy with my results. Thank you so much !!!

Great place to encourage your imagination & creativity! One of my 5 yo daughter's favourite after school activities. Drawing is what she loves the most so she always comes "to Wendy" with delight & looks forward to new lessons. Despite the fact that my daughter is just learning to speak English, this does not prevent her from enjoying the process. She feels herself very comfortable and cozy. Of course it's worth mentioning what beautiful projects and drawings she brings home after each lesson! I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Most of the other reviews are lying. Only one or two of Camp Lavner's STEM classes have good curriculums, the rest are terrible and this whole operation is just a regular day camp except less fun and way more expensive. The STEM outcome of these courses is negligible. Save your money and send your kids to a normal day camp, or choose one that is more reputable in science if your goal is STEM enrichment.

I highly recommend PhotoUno’s iPhone class.
My group of friends and I met with Francisco in Central Park for a private lesson. We learned more than we could possibly have anticipated—not only on how to set up and plan shots, but also on how to navigate the individual settings on the phone’s camera to maximize the end result. Francisco is polite, responsive, and a pleasure to work with.

Francisco hosted a free online course on 'how to choose a camera' which my girlfriend and I attended. Not knowing much about the landscape of cameras, both of us found the insight he was able to offer on various technologies and specific models at our price point really valuable.
She's now signed up for one of PhotoUno's beginner courses and can't wait to get started.
Thank you!

There is a parking garage. I went on a dinner cruise and Chelsea Piers was a great place to take a taxi to and from the pier. A great place for indoor and outdoor recreation. A beautiful clean place to take pictures and enjoy the scenic view of the river.

I studied in Ashcan for 8 months. Thanks to this school, I was able to improve my skills and knowledge a lot and make an amazing portfolio. The teachers are so professional and enthusiastic by giving their full attention to each students!! And the staffs are so nice and friendly. I’ve gotten into a school with a large amount of scholarship! Especially, director Kim, he contacted the school and helped me to get useful resources about application every time. I'm really grateful to Kim and teachers !!! I’ve studied in many other art schools, Ashcan is the best one ever. I strongly recommend this school!

My son loved the national Minecraft tournament last summer and he can't wait to attend the new national Roblox tournament this year. He's already practicing roblox after school to get ready for camp and is determined that the NYU team will win the tournament this summer!

I signed up for my first photography class ever at PhotoUno at the beginning of this year. For a beginner course (Photography I), I had a very good experience with everything: from the instructor (Francisco), the class size, the learning material, and last but not least the homework. After taking that course, my inner photographer voice screamed for more knowledge, so I decided to sign up for more courses at PhotoUno, and at this very moment, I have taken a total of six courses with the school. Yes, they are that good, and I can’t wait to take more courses in 2020!
Of all the courses that I have taken (Photo I, II, Street, Portrait, Studio Lighting, and Flash), all of them were quite well developed. I can guarantee that if you take your time to do all the homework, your photography skill will be much improved in no time. And the staffs from PhotoUno are very good too. They’ll try to help you troubleshoot your problems, and they always encourage you to be at your best by having a little contest for “Pic of the Week.”
In conclusion, if you want to learn photography, look no further than PhotoUno. I’m sure you’re going to have a very good experience with them!

Graphic design camp was really cool. My daughter wears her custom converse sneakers that she designed to school. She's really into music now so hopefully they'll add some sort of music camp or digital music for this year.

They have a comprehensive arts program and the instructors are highly qualified and trained. A very nice enviornment for yoing and mature students. With such a rich history, its going to be interesting see the development as gentrification presses on.

I studied in the Flushing and Manhattan campuses of Ashcan Studio of Art as transfer student. I was accepted to my school of choice with a generous scholarship. I didn’t really have good skills of drawing and painting when I first went to Ashcan. Ashcan is full of instructors who are knowledgeable, responsible and accommodating. They often check on every student in the class and always try their best to teach more and help more with the specific project. The entire atmosphere in Ashcan was comfortable, friendly and inspiring. I felt that I made more progress after each project. What I like most about Ashcan is that they don't strictly operate as a business chasing profits, but that they are really art lovers. It was really worthy to study and prepare my portfolio in Ashcan.

Today was my granddaughters first ballet class here she's

Un lugar muy acogedor

I love this school because they offer so many different classes that there's a place for each child. My daughter loves this school because she enjoys dancing ballet and contemporary dance. One of the perks about the dance department is part that they're part of The American Ballet School which is a plus. It's one of the very few schools in the Uptown Manhattan area that offers art enrichment for children at a reasonable price.

I have been so impressed with the quality of the teacher and administrators at Basis. The academics are challenging, but I have never seen my daughter more enthusiastic about learning. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure the children understand the material. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the education and culture at the school.

Excellent school.

My granddaughter who is five attends Saturday classes here. She loves it! The teachers are great, the facilities are very nice. Classes are a good size and the children are excited about what they are accomplishing.

One of the best camps in NYC, charming West Village location, excellent camp counselors, fun, happy place to send your child to, great vibe, my children have been going for the past two year and can't wait to go again this year. Love it.

Come join our premier NYC Summer Day Camp at NYC Kids Camps 2015.
We can hardly wait to start the fun!

Great Experience! I have taken several photography classes in the past but PhotoUno excelled my expectations. I learned very innovative tricks and the learning experience was very fun. The classes are very comfy and nice. Also the number of students in each class is perfect to create a interactive environment. Thanks PhotoUNO!!
