Top Beer gardens in Hamburg, Germany

In our quest, on a whirlwind trip to Hamburg, to eat authentic vegetaran versions of German food we came across Heisse Ecke Grill in the super-busy Reeperbahn / St. Pauli area. It's a Bratwurst place and they have a DELICIOUS vegan Bratwurst served with your choice of sauce and potatoes (Steak, Curly or Swet Potato)! It was really delcious fast food. You order at one window, are given a beeper of sorts, and when it "goes off" you pick up your food at another spot.

There is plenty of room to sit (albeit it's mostly outside with lots of people smoking so that's a little unpleasant.)

The person who took our order was super-friendly and the menu has English "subtitles" so it was easy for us non-German speaking visitors to get what we wanted.

There is a full drinks menu with beers, cocktails, wine and juices, including lemonade too. My kid got a "Virgin Spritz Passion Fruit Basil" cocktail - non-alcoholic which he really enjoyed, especially after watching me drink a "real" Apérol Spritz earlier in the day.

The vegan bratwurst was really good and pared well with the potatoes, served altogether in a little box with a tiny fork. It felt like a perfect and authentic German food experience, and it really was yummy.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Heisse Ecke Grill and I must say, it's a fabulous place to indulge in authentic German cuisine! The real star of the show was the incredible selection of German sausages - juicy, flavorful, and perfectly grilled. But what really stole the show was the amazing sweet potato fries on the side. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and full of sweetness, they complemented the savory sausages perfectly.

The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff and a lively vibe. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes.

If you're a fan of German food or just looking to try something new, Heisse Ecke Grill is a must-visit destination. The combination of delicious sausages and sweet potato fries is a match made in heaven. I'll definitely be back for more!

Hard to say, one of the staff was absolutely nice but the other one unbelievably unfriendly.

I liked everything. Delicious food and a beautiful view of the river.

The signature dish here is the pork knuckle, and the one I had was one of the best I have ever eaten. The meat was tasty, moist and tender and the skin crisp and crackling. None of it was too, salty which is often an issue with pork knuckle. Well done to the kitchen team.

The place has a good view, the employees were nice but they are only inside the kiosk. But the lowest point is the owner of the place, a rude person and treats some customers badly, to the point of asking them to leave the place, despite having paid for food and drinks previously. There should be an administrator or employee to control the owner.

I wish I could put zero stars but is not possible. The owner of this place gave us the worst experience in Hamburg! Crazy guy pushed one of us and start yelling out of nowhere. Im really sorry for the staff because they were lovely and tried to helped us. Please If you go in the area just avoid the place so you can enjoy the nice view.

We went this afternoon to get something to eat with my family, ordered food and settled at one of the tables that were available. Out of nowhere, the "owner" of the place started being rude to all of us because we had allegedly pushed him, which never happened. First he hit my dad and then he came over to tell us we had to leave. My dad didn't say anything because he thought the man had gotten confused. Maybe it was a misunderstanding, but it was a very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience for everyone in the place. There are better ways to handle the situation. We will never go back but we hope they take better measures.

One of the best schnitzels in Hamburg. I would be there every weekend if it weren't for the price. They have schnitzel day on Wednesdays and if you pick it up they give you a discount, but otherwise it's in the high 20's. It is really good though, very tender and cooked just right, and the cucumber salad and Bratkartoffeln are also very yummy. Location wise, it's next to a train station (why are so many Biergartens next to train stations?), and it's really nice to hang out when it's sunny, although the inside is nice and clean too. The service has always been nice there, so I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a better than average schnitzel and doesn't mind paying the price.

Very good bar in the St Pauli district of Hamburg. Goof beers from Weihenstephaner particularly the Dunkel. Friendly and helpful staff. Very large outdoor seating area. Busy on a Friday night.

Went here on a business trip.
First impression was the social and friendly host 5/5 The food was amazing 5/5 I want to move here to eat every day now. And that is coming from someone that almost never gives reviews.
Can only recommend.

We order smoked and original. My colleague ordered the original and beef.
We also ordered extra sauces and the where all amazing. Not even on I did not like.

My husband is Bavarian and we usually don't got to Bavarian restaurants in Hamburg because the food is not authentic and usually quite bad. I went because a friend invited me and got the Schweinebraten with Blaukraut and potato dumplings and it was actually so so good. The meat was not fatty, extremely tender-- everything was delicious. The wine was good, the service was good. I was very happy! The inside of the restaurant is not spectacular but what is cool is that a train runs right outside the window so every now and then you hear a quiet whoosh and the windows are lit up by the trains passing by. It's a delicious, well-priced, unique experience.

It's really cozy. The people working here are super friendly, service minded, and have definitely found the Christmas spirit. My wife and I had a great time and will come back next time we're in Hamburg.

Enjoyed the fischbrotchen very much. For fish, you have at least 5 options - I recall smoked herring, a pickled one so a sour tangy version, a sweet one and a fried one (pictured). Oh, a crab version too. The fried one was really good and filling. The batter was thick and remained crispy. Bread and sauce were very good too. 👍

Great little place. Friendly staff and great vegan options. Had to wait 20 min for a table though so I recommend reserving.

Amazing service, best food, lots of vegan options and cozy candlelight atmosphere.
Very friendly and helpful waitress, assisted with choosing the dish as they only have menus in German.
Reasonable prices for portion sizes.
If you're looking for a quiet place, I wouldn't recommend it indoor, as it can get a bit loud with the music and people, but that didn't bother me. :)
Also quite nice outdoor area (much quieter I guess), which I would love to come back and enjoy during summer!
Kitchen closes at 22:30.

It was nice to come here for Food and Beverage. The service was excellent and always aware if u need something. The Beverage was good had an October Beer which wasn't really my Taste but that aside of my personal taste it was amazing being here especially the Food. It was fresh I had an Vienna Schnitzel with Cranberry sauce and Roast Potatoes. It was cut slim perfect without an fat or vain in the middle and the Salat was very good. All around it is nice to enjoy Bavarian food here and I would recommend everybody to dine here. I will come back for sure. Prost Mahlzeit Coopers🍻🍻🍻

A nice place to sit outside and have some drinks. They have the heaters outside so even in the late evenings it’s not too cold. The Currywurst is delicious, the fries with sour cream okay. I also liked the music they play. The service is great there.

This was the perfect place to catch up with my German family and enjoy traditional German food, beer and hospitality. The food was absolutely delicious and we washed it down with giant pints of white beer. The only issue was that they don’t accept foreign cards, otherwise, flawless!

On point! Neither overcooked nor undercooked lebarkäse & potatoes. Perfect egg with sunnyside up. And not to forget about ”Weissbier”. Hofbräu Wirtshaus makes you feel Bavaria in Hamburg.

About the ambience, beautiful handmade painting at indoor narrating the history of Bavaria and about German culture gives a cosy-warm experience, they also have a beautiful outdoor setting which is best for sunny weather.

Cosy place with both indoor and outdoor seating. Great vegan options, especially the “Döner Teller” which reminded us of Greek style “gyros”. A big plate incl fries, mixed salad, a cabbage slaw and tzatziki. They also offer vegan desserts!
I am vegan and since this place serves meat I can only grand them a 4/5. Otherwise I have no complaints, left very happy.

As much as I want to give this place a five star- I gotta let others know that it was a difficult time to be here and enjoy everything- the time delay was beyond an hour for food- and even 20-30 minutes to get the order placed — which was frustrating- the food was “ok”. They carry a great vegan menu and regular menu- for the night we were there I believe they were very understaffed. Our server was racing around- but the benches outside are very uncomfortable and narrow and sitting on them for 90+ minutes was definitely a negative. We asked for check and still didn’t get it so I had to go in and ask and pay- again it was obvious they were understaffed but well liked by all who were there. I would recommend going- but if it’s busy or they haven’t hired someone else for assistance- prepare for a wait!!

I've been taken here once this winter and I am sure to come back. The menu changes regularly and we had a vegan traditional dish of 'Grünkohl' with vegan sausages. It was so delicious, I could hardly believe it. Always inspires happy thought walking past that place now. The vibe was chill, the staff are friendly and relaxed and it is sure to breathe the sternschanze atmosphere. Also a nice place to sit and enjoy a chill drink.

What a lovely place to visit while in Hamburg. This place is very cozy and has a few food choices most of them vegetarian or vegan. Really loved the place, will probably come back. The food is very good and the portions are big. As for the prices, I'd say they are typical from the city.

Great spot for drinks or lunch if you're visiting the Saturday flea market, service is a little carefree but the prices are nice and the garden is lovely. Right next to the stalls, it's a great people watching place too, with all the hamburger specialties you are allowed to expect. The patrons are of the eclectic type this part of town is party to but it's colourful and fun!

Very nice place to sit with a view on the river. The food is okay, drinks too. The coffee we had was damn strong!
Toilets are possibly not open, but you can ask the staff to open them.
All in all very enjoyable as long as the good weather holds.

An almost hidden spot in Hamburg-Wandsbek with a great variety of Bavarian specialties. Menus available also for non-German speakers and very helpful waitresses for those who can't decide what to order.

We had a few long drinks here on a Friday evening - unfortunately they weren't tasty. The Gin Basil Smash was too bitter and had an artificial taste. The Mojito was too sweet. The place has an amazing view, but please take a beer if you don't want to be disappointed with your drink.
